  1. Keep it on topic. If the subject of a post is Tales of MU chapter 2,347, feel free to share your thoughts about that chapter. If you want to refer back to another chapter that you think bears on it, that's still on topic. If it reminded you of something else you want to link to or repost or talk about, that's still on topic. If you just want to talk about what's going on in your life or what's wrong with the world today, take it to your own Journal.
  
  If you've got something to say to me that's got nothing to do with the story, this isn't the best place. This is not an official contact form for me. Not that I'll never read the discussions, but if you need to get in touch with me an email or a message through Livejournal is less likely to get lost in the fray.
  
  2. Discussions may include speculation about future plotlines and events. By making such speculation and posting it in a place that I can see it, you agree that you have no right to compensation or credit if it turns out you were right. In other words, you saying "I bet Mackenzie does something stupid and feels embarrassed for it!" doesn't earn you a written-by credit if that happens.
  
  Such speculation also does not constitute "spoilers", as it may or may not be true. Complaints about spoilers will be roundly laughed at.
  
  3. The following sorts of comments may be deleted:
  

  
  a. Flaming.
  b. Trolling.
  c. Fan fiction written in the comments. There are places out there for that. It doesn't need to be here. If nothing else, there's a fans_of_mu community right here on Livejournal.
  

  
  
  The people who violate this rule may be banned from commenting. I offer no precise definition of the terms in a. and b. because by and large the people who do them know damn well what they're doing. I and anybody I appoint to be moderator will be the sole judges of what constitutes trolling and flaming and what is done about it.
  
  4. The comments are intended to be an outlet for fans. Fans can dislike characters and events in a story, and they can dislike certain chapters, but if you're just posting comments to say how much you hate the stories and/or the author, you're in the wrong place. See 3b. Accusations of censorship or stifling criticism will be met with derisive laughter, before I use the total and all-consuming power I obviously must wield over the entire internet to block all ability to express your opinion to anybody, anywhere.
  
  5. As some of the stories deal with adult concepts, the discussion may become explicit. This is not a place for children or people with delicate sensibilities.
  
  6. While this isn't quite a "safe space", this community has my name on it and thus I will not tolerate it being used as an outlet for hatred directed at any real individuals or groups. This includes using derogatory terms and slurs, calling people outside their name, ignoring people's expressed gender identity, and taking the time to tell everybody your theories about what's wrong with (race x/religion x/gay people/transfolk). This is not the place for that.
  

  
  6b. This caused wank on the previous version of the comment board, so I'm going to make this explicit and clear from the beginning: if you're going to talk about the character of Steff from Tales of MU here, use female pronouns and terms. That's not open for discussion. This isn't the Gender Debate Society.
  

  
  7. Typo reports and other correction suggestions are always welcome, but to make them easier for me to find I'll put a "typo report" comment on each post... if you're just commenting to point out an error, please use "reply to" on that comment.
