What type of posts are not appropriate in ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif){kind=small} advice4teens?+ Posts regarding consumer advice (i.e., Should I buy X shoes or Y shoes?). There are plenty of communities on LJ that will better assist you in your decision. This also includes hair cuts/styles, dresses, etc. + Venting posts are allowed, but to an extent. Do not include "I do not want advice" or "Don't tell me 'XYZ'". When posting in a public forum, you take the risk of getting opinions. If it is posted here, the viewers assume you are willing to hear out their opinions on the matter. + It is strongly suggested that you put any posts involving "triggering" material behind a lj-cut. Triggering material includes but is not limited to self-harming, or eating disorder-related behavior such as binging or purging, etc. To any member of the community suffering from any of those problems, it can make all the difference. If you are not sure if your post qualifies as triggering or do not know how to do a lj-cut, contact one of the mods who can assist you. How do I get my community promoted? + In advice4teens we do not allow promotion of other communties without having been approved by a moderator. If you choose to promote without permission, your post will be deleted. + We will not allow promotion of communities unrelated to advice in our community; however, we will add communities for beauty, health and other non-emotional related advice here in the info page. Contact a moderator for any further information on your community. If I am being harassed by a member of advice4teens, what are my options?+ Do not provoke them. It is understandable to want to defend yourself to somebody who is harassing you, but rather than have this issue spread throughout the community, the moderators ask that you contact one of them and they will deal with this issue privately. + Contact information for the moderators is listed above. + When contacting a moderator about any form of harassment in the community, be sure to include a link to a reference post. Without proof, we cannot do anything. We cannot punish somebody based on he said-she said types of arguments. + Users incapable of obeying the rules of advice4teens will be banned. Why hasn't anybody commented on my post? + Many posts revolve around the same topic in advice4teens. We recommend before posting that you read some of the older entries in the community. More than likely your question has been asked and answered to some degree. If you are still unhappy with the responses, acknowledge that you have read back a bit but your situation still differs and would appreciate some extra help. I didn't get the advice I wanted, I'm unhappy with advice4teens+ advice4teens is an open forum. People come here to ask questions and get answers. Because of its overwhelming number of members, the amount of opinions here is tremendous. When in a situation like this, people's opinions will clash. It is to be expected. + Do not come here to defend yourself or your actions. You are asking for advice from a large group of strangers. Some will agree with you and some will disagree with you. Do not expect to only get the answers you want to hear. We are not paid shrinks. We do not want your money and will not sugar coat our opinions to fit your mold. + Be prepared for criticism and disagreements. Do not get angry at a commenter because they disagree with you. Simply thank them for their opinion and move along, or say nothing at all. While being a member of advice4teens, please maintain a sense of maturity and respect. It takes a lot for somebody to let themselves be vulnerable and talk candidly about their feelings to a group of strangers. We don't expect everybody to baby others, but deliver your message with tact. Approach the community with an open mind. Remember not everybody shares your views and feathers will get ruffled in the grand scheme of things. Ridiculing, name calling and harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. We're not your parents and don't believe in time outs or warnings. If you're caught, you will be banned. Any questions, suggestions or reports of harassment can be directed to any moderator at any time.
