About‡ Good evening, London. ‡
Welcome to Adults for Vendetta, a community for -- as the name implies -- adult (18+) fans of the graphic novel V for Vendetta by Alan Moore and David Lloyd and/or the movie adaptation of the same name. I created this because I wanted to be a member of a community where people who want to have intelligent discussions about VfV can do so without being subjected to "fangirling." By fangirling, I mean people (mainly girls, but some boys too, sadly) posting entries and comments that read like the following:

Admittedly, I'm guilty of using multiple punctuation marks, ASCII hearts, and text anime faces occasionally; but quite frankly, I think excessive use of them -- especially if they are used to decorate such empty statements -- is annoying. Restricting the age of members probably won't prevent fangirling completely since age isn't necessarily a sign of maturity, but I'm sure it will reduce it significantly. With that said, here are the rules:

- Be courteous and respectful to other members.
Debate is fine, but flames are not. - Stay on topic, and don't promote other communities or personal sites.
- Use decent spelling and grammar, and post entries with substance.
For example, don't just tell us you saw the movie and liked it, tell us why you liked it and/or ask a question about it to start a discussion. - Participate.
By that, I mean post at least one entry or comment once a month. If you don't want to or can't participate, just watch the community (add it to your friends list) instead of join. However, I'll probably change this rule once enthusiasm for the movie starts to wane in a few months. - Use cuts for long entries and large images.
If you don't know how to make a cut, learn how to in the LJ FAQ. - Don't post icons, colorbars, banners, layouts, or wallpapers or links to them.
There are already a few good VfV graphics communities, so join one of them if you want to post graphics. - Be at least 18 years old and capable of doing the above.
If you are younger than 18, you can watch the community, join another VfV community, or create your own.
- If you'd like to introduce yourself to the community, please do so by commenting here.
- I won't require members to put potential "spoilers" behind cuts, so if you haven't read or seen VfV and don't want it to be spoiled, read or see it before you join.
- You may post fanfiction or art if you like, but keep in mind that by doing so, you're exposing your work to constructive criticism. Therefore, if you wrote a Valerie/Evey PWP and don't want to hear that it's chronologically impossible, don't post it.
