AmberCon NW Deadlines coming up!
Woohoo! The first "interest" deadline has come and gone, and we had plenty of folks to cover the hotel deposit, so ACNW XXI is officially a GO! If you haven't yet registered, please do so ASAP. The next deadline is for game submissions, on August 28th. That's just over a month away.... --simone | | Monday, June 8th, 2009 | 5:55 pm [simonepdx]

AmberCon NW - November 5-8, 2009 Hi all! The AmberCon NW site is open for registration for this year's convention. For the 13th year, we are returning to the gorgeous and hospitable McMenamin's Edgefield Bed and Breakfast Resort in Troutdale, Oregon, just 30 minutes outside Portland and 15 minutes from the Portland International Airport (PDX). There are many different room styles and rates at the Edgefield, so register soon! The most popular types sell out quickly. I am looking forward to seeing all the new and returning faces this year! --simone Organizer, AmberCon NW | | Wednesday, May 6th, 2009 | 12:42 pm [rvdammit]

Ambercon UK is on this year, completely forgot to post here, so apologies for the late notice. Didn't think to post here (with prodding) till I heard the people who have committed to ACUK was a lower than the minimum needed to avoid penalties from the hotel. | | Sunday, May 3rd, 2009 | 2:58 pm [harleqwn]

Twibe (Twitter group) for Amber
I've created a Twibe (stupid Twitter vocab) for Amber that all are welcome to join, or not. :-) I'm new at this but here goes... http://twibes.com/amberdicelessrpg As I've discovered "amber" often results in amber alerts for missing children so I thought I would just spell the whole thing out in the hopes that a search would maybe find it easier this way. I don't know if it will work on not. -David- | | Friday, April 24th, 2009 | 4:49 pm [harleqwn]

Amber social connections
Who would like to share their gaming/amber twitter or other social media info? My Twitter name is: shadowwars Can't seem to find any #amber Twitter feeds?!? I am known as David Miessler-Kubanek on Facebook, however, I don't use Facebook for gaming due to my career connections there. I do send private messages for gaming if needed. :-) Would like to find a good Gaming social site without all the fluff of Facebook. Even one focused on Amber would be good enough for now. I'm not on MySpace. I've posted a question to the ACUS forums about multimedia and one the other day about the Amber community. Not sure if that's where to post or discuss such things but there you go. Been gaming since the 1980's. Been GMing Amber for close to 20 years. Online gaming since the mid 1990's. Getting back into convention gaming again and looking for more Amber players and GMs to chat with. :-) Thanks! -David- | | Monday, March 30th, 2009 | 6:52 pm [a2macgeek]

ACUS Game Book Delay
Hi, all -- I am sorry to report that we've had some issues with getting the Game Book ready to go up on the site. At this point, you should see it sometime tomorrow. We understand that ACUS attendees live in a range of time zones, so we will pick a time which will allow us to have an "equal first" range that doesn't disadvantage anyone, whether they live in PST, EST, BST, or somewhere in between. We also understand that some people have access during the work day, and some don't. Thank you for your patience, and please stay tuned. You'll hear from me or Simone tomorrow. -- Joe | | Friday, February 27th, 2009 | 5:25 pm [a2macgeek]

Last day to register for Ambercon 2009!
From the Con Chair: This is, officially, the last day to register for Ambercon 20 -- so if you're planning to attend but have been holding off, it's time to go to the website: http://www.ambercon.comAmbercon will be April 16-19, 2009, at the Embassy Suites Livonia (our usual hotel, about 20 minutes from Detroit Metro Airport, DTW). In case you didn't know, we now have rates based on how many days you're attending, so it now makes sense to attend even if you can only make it for part of the con. If you've already registered, I apologize for this unnecessary email. Consider it a reminder that you will soon be able to go to the website and register for games! Hope to see you there! -- Joe Saul, ACUS 20 Chair Current Mood: hungryCurrent Music: Full of Grace - Sarah McLachlan | | Wednesday, February 4th, 2009 | 11:15 pm [simonepdx]

ACUS 2009 Update
Hello! Ambercon US will be April 16-19, 2009, at the Embassy Suites Livonia (our usual hotel, about 20 minutes from Detroit Metro Airport). I wanted to write all of you a quick note to let you know that we're updating our systems and processes, and the ACUS 2009 website will be up and ready to take registrations by January 1st, 2009. We've taken attendee feedback into account, and we're going to have an all-new registration system, using an ACNW-like scheduling method, which we hope will preserve the good features of the previous ACUS process while improving it in some significant ways. We'll explain any changes when the site goes live, and we're happy to help you as needed. This will be the 20th Ambercon US, and we're looking forward to doing some very cool stuff and hosting a lot of excellent games! (We've got some surprises in the works, too.) If you're a regular attendee, you won't want to miss this one. And if you haven't been to Ambercon in a while, consider making Ambercon 20 the one you come back to. On behalf of the ACUS 2009 team, I'd like to thank you for your patience with the transition. We all look forward to gaming with you in April! (And don't forget to register when the site goes live on January 1st...) Joe Saul Chair, ACUS 2009 www.ambercon.com P.S. Please feel free to pass this message on to any venues where Amber is discussed. | | Sunday, June 29th, 2008 | 5:37 pm [nihilisticmind]

AmberCon Arizona 2008: ame submissions GMs! We need GMs!
If you're planning on attending, please consider GMing too! :) And if you're not planning on attending, well, tell you friends... And come anyway! :D
If you wish to GM at the con for a game other than Amber, go ahead and submit a game as well. It doesn't have to be diceless or even Amber (although it is preferred and most games being run there will be). For instance, two of our current GMs plan on running a Serenity (Firefly) game based on the Amber Diceless rules.
Check out http://fabienbadilla.com/acaz-events.html for more info about how to submit a game and make AmberCon Arizona an awesome and recurring event.
And most of all: Come have fun!
Here's the information you can get on the website about game submittal:
If you wish to run a game at the upcoming CopperCon 28, use the following format and email us at AmberConArizona@gmail.com with Game Submittal in the title. Also, feel free to create a new thread pertaining to your game HERE! Required information for Game Submittal: -
Time Slot Preferred (see below) -
Genre (Will it be a traditional Amber game? Are you giving it your own horror or modern twist? Will it be a Throne War? etc...) -

Synopsis (describe your game's basic story or plot to entice players!) -

Posting on behalf of the 09 ConChair
I'm mourning Erick myself; he was a friend to me as well as a fellow gamer, and I miss him deeply. However, I should really post this now that we've confirmed it, and in a way the timing is appropriate because he valued the Amber community so highly: The dates for Ambercon US 2009 will be April 16-19, 2009, at the Embassy Suites Livonia. (We'll have the dates for 2010 shortly; yes, we're going to start working two years out.) This will be the 20th Ambercon, and we're looking for ideas to commemorate both the anniversary and Erick, without whom none of this would have happened. Please feel free to email me; even ideas that require a bit of money are possible. More details later, but I wanted to get the dates out there so people can start planning. If you're on other Amber-related lists or communities that I don't reach, please pass this on to them (and let me know about them). -- Joe Saul (Chair, Ambercon US 2009) | 12:29 am [zdashamber]

Erick Wujcik is gone
Erick Wujcik died yesterday evening, June 7th 2008. He was surrounded by his family. More information at the Palladium Press release: http://www.palladiumbooks.com/press/erickwujcik.htmlI was lucky enough to meet and game with him on a few occasions once he moved out to the San Francisco Bay Area four or so years ago. He was generous, easygoing, and creative; a good storyteller, engaging to be around. My deepest sympathies to his many good friends. |
