I already posted this pretty much everywhere, but in case someone is on this community and not on any others--

A Dog's Breakfast will be shown Friday night at Shoreleave from 10PM to 12AM. The ADB panel will be held on Sunday at 10AM (it was previously going to be held right after the movie, but that conflicted with the SGA Season Five premiere). I hope my fellow squirrels can attend!

Okay I actually just finished watching A Dog's Breakfast for the first time since I like bought it when it came out on amazon, and I'm in love, this was hilarious! The whole plot of it all, it was pure genius!! I can't wait to see what they'll come out with next.

Okay, so maybe just their nanny? Please? Or their house servant? I'm not picky...

Yes, this means I just (finally!) watched A Dog's Breakfast. And as my husband Jason has said about the Mayan Chocolate ice cream he tried earlier tonight - "I have seen the face of God. And it is delicious."

*dies more*

And, well, I couldn't be more happy to have my hypothesis about the ending proved wrong. YAYZ!!! *dances like an idiot*

And now, I'm gonna go and buy ADB for my parents and my brother and Jason's sister... and maybe even my father-in-law. I dunno. But I sure as hell want to throw as much money as I feasibly can at the Hewletts for their awesomeness. They and everyone who worked on the movie deserve to be showered with praise and money.

Off to bed now. Although I really can't see how the hell I'm gonna sleep, seeing as how I'm all psyched up and friggin' hyper as hell... and I've not even had any sugar lately! *pout* Be proud of me, my friends; I indulged in the Haagen Daaz Mayan Chocolate right after supper, but only a few spoonfuls. I was good squirrelbait! :)

PPS - If I was an official reviewer, I'd say that A Dog's Breakfast is a deliciously twisted dark take on Poe's The Telltale Heart. Which I friggin' loved.

A Dog's Breakfast

Today is Tuesday, September 18th, which means the DVD for A Dog's Breakfast was released to the US buying public today! And I set off in search of it at 11AM :) Since Best Buy had the advertising deal with the movie, I went there. Umm, yeah, apparently my Best Buy forgot the memo. I couldn't find it on the shelves, so I went to Customer Service. They called over to the Media section, sending an employee off to check their stock. After 15 minutes, he finally shows up with one copy. The store was only sent THREE COPIES. Come on, people, this is not helpful. But I got my copy and I was on cloud nine for the rest of the day.

Started watching the DVD at 4PM, watching the features first (not the commentary...still have to watch that). The Behind the Scenes and Making Of and just everything. Jane did a great job with putting that together. Also, some men make pretty women and some men don't. I'll let you determine which side the movie played up ;)

Okay, onto the movie!
Right from the very beginning, I was laughing. I already saw the Frooties color coordination and Patrick sharing the toothbrush with Mars on the previews on the ADB site, but that was just the beginning. The home psycho bit where he dresses up in the mask to scare his sister? He's such a lovable freak. And then the fact that he's not trying to kill Ryan because he doesn't like him, it's because he's afraid Ryan's trying to kill Marilyn! Patrick loves his sister, even though he's got a stange way of showing it. The fact that he screws up every single murder attempt is just endearing. Of course death won't be any easier than every other attempt he's made in life.

I really enjoyed how the Starcrossed scenes were interspersed to aid the murder plotline. I wasn't sure how they'd be included, but this definitely helped both the storyline and our understanding of Ryan's show. The body popping up everywhere and driving Patrick slowly insane was just hilarious. So was Mars lapping up the "blood." Mars in general was a superstar on the movie :D The sibling relationship between Patrick and Marilyn was very good and made even moreso by David and Kate's sibling interactions shining through. More than once I kept saying 'stop hitting your brother' because I was smiling as I recalled con clips detailing those exact things between David and Kate. Also, the Amy thing? FUNNY! Maybe she was a boy, we'll never know :P

And the end? Okay, seriously, Patrick might be a little crazy, but his sister is a little crazy, too. Patrick's family (now extended family) has a very odd sense of humor. I'm not sure I'd have taken the joke as well as Patrick, but it worked out very nicely for the film :)

And later on (hopefully tonight) I'll be able to watch it again with the commentary on because I'm very much looking forward to that...especially their mom's input. The movie is wonderful and it even got a non-Stargate person to stop and watch, so I give it two enthusiastic thumbs up!

David Hewlett interview

After last week's Kate Hewlett interview, the Sci Fi Guys had a David Hewlett interview in tonight's show.

I've uploaded the interview alone since it was a bit difficult to record the whole show.
You can find it on Megaupload.
The file is about 12 Mb and the interview is about 13 minutes long.

This was recorded back in February at the Pegasus 2 convention in London. There are no real spoilers for season 4 of Stargate Atlantis other than casting issues.

Be warned that the sound is a bit awful for the first 4 minutes because something went wrong with their server. There was nothing I could do about that. It does get better after that though.

EDIT: I've modified the file so you should now get a version where the sound isn't crappy during the first 4 minutes.

Since you may have missed this airing last night, I've uploaded the SciFi Guys interview of actress Kate Hewlett. This was recorded back in February at the Pegasus 2 con in London. No spoilers for season 4 of Stargate Atlantis. She talks a bit about her career in acting and writing, as well as her experience with her brother on SGA and A Dog's Breakfast.

This is a British webcast radio show that airs every Wednesday, focusing on scifi news and interviews.

You can get the interview alone on Megaupload. It's a 12 Mb .mp3 and the interview is about 17 min long.

Revamped poster ideas

I had an idea about all the poster ideas that people've been putting up here as well as on dgeek, and so I'm sharing with you folks first.

Why doesn't someone open an online product shop, like CafePress, and sell stuff with all the poster ideas on them? Talk about free advertising if all of us ADB and Hewlefans were strolling around Cons and the like with ADB t-shirts. :)

Just a thought...

That said, here's my second poster revamp I'd like opinions on, if you would be so kind?

And I can't remember if I'd posted my other poster idea here as well.

I'm still thinking that since David really likes the "Have You Seen Me?" poster, that it'd look friggin' awesome if there was a police lineup with all the main cast members (including Mars, of course) holding the ID cards. Of course, Paul would be all wrapped up in Christmas lights with the Santa hat on, Kate would be looking quite puzzled, David in his bathrobe (or in my preference, naked with only the rubber ducky *purrs*), Mars looking woebegone, and Chris on the end waving and looking cheerily hopeful.

Heh. If only I could find full body shots of them like that. *VBG*

So, any thoughts on improving this poster? Please?

ADB Movie Posters!

Okay, pimping A Dog's Breakfast here, of which I'm sure all of you know is David Hewlett and his lovely fiancee Jane Loughman's baby.

No no no, not an actual baby, you demented freaks!
*smishes you and chuckles*

Yeah, so... I'm pretty much dying to see the movie, like right the frell NOW. So, to alleviate my impatience (which is so not working *sigh*), I made two posters. One I already posted over at David's message board for the movie, but I'm gonna post both of them here in the hopes that I can get some constructive feedback.

Would you mind looking over these and telling me if I could be doing anything different to make them more effective movie posters? I'd greatly appreciate it, thank you!

So... whattaya think? Anything you'd like to see changed, different, added, removed, what have you, to these to make them more professional looking?

Tomorrow's Vancouver Screening

A quick wave to the rest of the community here, and I hope you are all doing well. I'll be attending the 12:15 showing of A Dog's Breakfast tomorrow at the Vancity theatre (in Vancouver), and I am really excited about seeing the audience reaction to this lovely film. Truth be told, I will be watching the audience as much as the film. This is the first time I will be seeing one of the films I've worked on in the company of people other than fellow crew and family members. (I'm still somewhat new to the business)

There are several plot twists and comedy beats that I can't wait to see the reaction to.

For those who will be there, I have short, dark red hair and will be in the company of a petite teen girl, a hulking tall teen boy, and my husband. My name is Heather, and I would love to say "hi" and squee over the film with you.
