Name: Jennifer.

Age: Infinite; I hardly believe in age by numbers.

Location: South Florida.

About me: I live inside of my head. My mind works paranormally. I read people instantly. I could say an endless amount of things about myself, and their opposites would be true as well. I have a lot of theories and thoughts; my mind never closes. I'll believe almost anything just to experiment with it, while doubting it fully. I can contradict anything, and re-contradict it. I am everything and nothing.

About the journal: This is my journal strictly for writing and there is nothing good in it yet.

I write: everything. It changes periodically. Ups and downs. Back and forth. Stories, songs, poems, letters, pieces of books I'll never finish, personal accounts illuminated, nothingness.

I don’t write: history.

I like to read: Psychological, philosophical, intellectual anythings. Deepness. Things that are intricately detailed. Romance. Shockers. Everything, nothing. Anything that sounds like the words were taken from my mouth / my thoughts exactly.

Favorite authors: William Saroyan, Chuck Palahniuk, Kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Coupland, Haruki Murakami, Chuck Klosterman, etc

Name: Susan [but I like Suze/Suzie...doesn't sound so old]

About Me: I live my life to the best of my ability...meaning that when I fall, I fall hard,
I get back up, I speak my mind, and I love with all that I've got. I expect too
much, give too little, dream with all that my heart possesses, and I never let
go or give up on the ones I love.I make a million mistakes every day, I give
advice that I can't take, and my mouth is probably too big for my own good...but
the time for silence is for when I'm dead...and I'm slowly learning that I was
given this life because I am strong enough to live it.

That is -basically- me in a nutshell [taken from my userinfo]
I'm 19 [ewww], I live in Las Vegas [EWWWW] and if complaining were a world class sport, I'd take home the Gold.
My LJ is relatively new -although I am no newbie to livejournal- and I use it to pretty much highlight my days, jot down snippets of nonsense running through my head, and occasionally post poems/actual pieces of work that I've created. =]

What I Write: When I can actually discipline myself, I like to whip out short stories, [lots of] poems, and my ultimate goal is to complete at least ONE full length fiction novel in my lifetime...that is, if I can calm the millions of thoughts in my head long enough to get one idea down on paper.

What I Don't Write: I don't really do the whole horror or mystery stuff. WAY too complicated for me! I also don't do strict poetry either...whatever comes out, comes out; if it just so happens to rhyme, then WOOHOO!

What I Like To Read: LOTS and LOTS! I'm really into the whole teenage drama/romance stuff, like Twilight by Stephenie Meyer and Dreamland by Sarah Dessen [actually...ALL of her stuff!]

I'm in love with vampire fiction -- The Morganville Vampire Series by Rachel Caine, Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Series by Laurell K. Hamilton, Companions of the Night by Vivian Vande Velde, and -of course- Anne Rice, the QUEEN of vampires.

I also love Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, Perks of Being a Wallflower, Wuthering Heights, Lord of the Rings, The Importance of Being Ernest, and countless others.

What I Don't Read: Most science fiction, autobiographies, and most historicals. Non-fiction stuff mostly.

What I'm Looking For: Really amazing people who are friendly, creative, and fun. I'd love to have people I can bounce ideas off of, receive constructive criticism from, and just have a blast discussing the things we love to do best: create and tell amazing stories. ♥ ♥

Other: I attend a Community College in Nevada for the time being, finishing up my General Education [booooring] stuff. But once I hit that University level, I'm going for a Creative Writing Bachelors and Masters, and I plan on taking a study abroad semester in FRANCE!!!!!

Other than that, I'd love to meet new people, so just drop me a line and add me! =] !!

and i had felt the same

Name: Elle

About Me: I'm 18 years old. I am currently doing a creative writing degree. I live in Australia. I wish to be an editor to pay the bills, but be an author to write the stories that swirl in my head. My journal, while now refocusing on my writing will talk very occasionally about my social/love life due to the fact that I am 18 years old and know how to be 18. I often answer the "Question of the Day" here at LJ just to do some writing. Please do not be discouraged by the digressions from writing, I look at it as inspiration for later years to come.

What I Write: Mainly fiction. Short stories to novels. I'm working on my novel now. There is no set genre, it really depends on what the story is. But I'm a planner, so unless it's a uni assignment, it takes forever to get done. (I dabbled in fanfiction a couple of years back.)

What I Don't Write: Poetry. I have written haikus and free verse - as required by my course. I much rather analyse poetry than write it. I just don't have the rhyme for it, I believe. However, if I'm in a particularly cryptic mood, I will jot something down.

What I Like To Read: It's all over the shop. (I've removed the "Favourite Authors" section of this because of this reason.) I read Melina Marchetta (regular fiction); JRR Tolkien; I'm trying to get through CS Lewis and a Sherlock Holmes book at the moment. I read Stephenie Meyer (fantasy), Matt Reilly (action/adventure), JK Rowling, Paulina Simons (romance), Jane Austen (classic), Holly Black and Cassie Clare from the urban fantasy section. As i said, all over the shop. (Honestly, I just looked in my bookshelf and picked out names.)

What I Don't Read: There is nothing I won't try.

What I'm Looking For: People that write and practice their art. People that have resources and are ready to share. People that just want to talk about writing and talk about my writing - as I am willing to talk about theirs. People that know who Melina Marchetta and Matt Reilly are (and even those who don't). People that can make playlists with me for my stories - I always write with music, as I believe everyone should (or out in the world, like park benches or cafes).

Other: My sister is an aspiring animator and my father a painter. We're a creative family and I've always been told to dream. So I do that. There's a list of things I want to accomplish in my life and sometimes I will talk about those dreams. I like to wish.

Cross-posted. Feel free to add me or ask questions for more information. :D

Name: Amanda (Manda)

About Me: Where to start? I'm going to be 18 in July, I love to hang out with friends and have a good time. I'm very funny, and witty. Im very easy to talk to, and I listen to people almost as much as I listen to music. I put a lot of emotion into anything I do, be it acting, singing, or writing. I always write what I feel, and what comes out, Its real, rough, uncut, and completly true. I have experinced much In my life, and because ot this I always try to keep other in mind when I write. Maybe someone else will take away something from one of my poems. A lot of people say they want to be a write when they grow up, but I am a writer. If you are reading this, then you are too. It doesnt matter if you are published or not, you write, there for you are. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
P.s. I cant spell.

What I Write: A lot of poetry. I always have good story ideas, and some screenplay ideas, but I never seem to go on with them and they get filed away inside my head, waiting for a rainy day. I have tried writing songs, but I cant seem to get that write either. I write essays for school of course, and I also write fanfiction. But for now, I write mainly poetry.

What I Don't Write: song, for now. Westerns, mysteries, crime, thriller, horror, action, adventure, historical fiction....I dont mind reading these types of things, but they just dont sound right when I try to write them.

What I Like To Read: Anything. If it catches my attention, it doesnt matter what it is, I will read it. YA, Adult, Fantisy, si-fi. ect...(Twilight series, Harry Potter, Eragon, the chrinicals of narnia, Darrin Shan, the earth my butt and other big round things, Vegin virgin valentine, Good girls, Evalution me and other freaks of nature, hard love....and so on)

What I Don't Read: Usually historical things. But other than that I will give it a try.

Favorite Authors: So many. Stephanie meyer, j.k. rowling, carolyn macklure, jane austen, oscar wilde, Stephen King...ect.

What I'm Looking For: Someone to be my friend, and read what I have to say. Someone who wont judge, and talk to me about anything and everything. Not just writing and books, but that is a must. lol

Other: Add me? You wont regret it I promise.

=]

Hello.

Name: Kait

About Me: Well... let's just see. I'm unfortunately not fifteen for a few days(small lie: not fifteen until July 29, but I like to round up because being fourteen is completely ridiculous) and that is saddening. I enjoy quite a few things. Most of them happen to be things that do not involve other people because I truly like so few of them. (I don't me you. You write or read. And if you do one of these two things I probably will like you.) I almost passed-out today because I was in a kick-boxing class and am not in any sort of shape to be in a kick boxing class. I cannot spell.

I Write: nothing at the moment. This is not for lack of trying. Everything I seem to write has been a lovely shade of awful. I desperately hope this stops soon. In general I write a lot of romance stuff simply because it's easy and comes naturally. Not graphic, just cheesy and a little embarrassing to say that you wrote. I don't like it. I try to avoid it. I like fantasy, but I'm not spectacular at writing it.

I Don't Write: action/adventure. It isn't as if I don't like them, I just can't write action scenes (or read them) without getting horribly confused. I live in a very small town and frequently get lost as to where I happen to be going and how exactly I'm supposed to get there. I try to avoid fanfics because they're addicting, and with quotes, youtube, and livejournal I simply don't need anything else to keep me up until five in the morning.

I Like To Read: mostly anything, except what I'm going to put under this question. I do read the twilight books, but I do not like them. I read them because I think they are awful and I must spread this news to everyone. And I feel that I should be educated on a subject if I'm going to bash it. Cereal boxes and shampoo bottles.

I Don't Read: vampire novels. Some sci-fi, because as a general rule it scares the living daylights out of me.

Favorite Authors: I won't list, but if you want to add me and then ask I will compile a list for you.

I'm Looking For: <strike>a tall, well built man who likes long walks on the beach and late-night talks</strike>. Oops wrong community. Sorry. That was stupid. I
am not involved in any dating sites, I just like bad jokes. Seriously? People to read my work, and work to read. Someone to get me out of this darn writer's block.

Other: Add me? If at any time it gets too boring or poorly written, feel free to delete.

Uh hi.

Name: Helen.

About Me: Hm, ok. Uhh, I'm terrible at this. I'm 16 and I'm wrapping up my junior year of high school right about now. I trip over my own feet a lot. I play the French horn and I'm in marching band. Music's my thing and I love a lot of bands. Short list: My Chemical Romance, AFI, Autopsia, Nine Inch Nails, Death Cab for Cutie, Sufjan Stevens. Long list: Is not worth listing. I like movies like Clerks [the first one], Office Space, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and Fight Club. Those last two are also two of my favorite books. I love Palahniuk and Ken Kesey, and I also totally worship The Catcher in the Rye. I just finished like within the past ten minutes my term paper for English AP which is all about Holden Caulfield. Exciting. I used to draw some but I just sort of gave up on it, and I like taking photographs. And i am a total sucker for old abandoned buildings, doubly so if they're supposed to be ~haunted. Yeah, I'm a ghost freak. Deal.

I Write: Fiction. Realistic fiction generally. There's a story going on in my head about a young man whose family is in the mafia, and how he's such a part of it and how it affects him. I'd like to get it all written down someday before I like, you know, die. Sometimes I'll write about my own life as though it were fiction, which sometimes I wish it actually was. I write about anything I think of, generally. When I write it can be kind of harsh and gritty, but it can also be kind of flowery and cute. I'm not above gory or graphic either. And I like war fiction. I know, I'm bad. But nothing better to reflect human suffering, hm? And as much as I do write - I've got notebooks everywhere in my house and all sorts of random thing scribbled on random bits of paper in them -, I have a terrible writer's block and haven't written anything decent in ages, so none of it has found its way to the pits of the internet. My journal's relatively new and there's only one piece of fiction, and it's actually really bad.

I Don't Write: Flowery cutesy shitsy shit about how life is grand. Just grand. [What a phony word!] High fantasy. It's just too... I used to like it, I hate it now. Too....... ~fantastical. Uhm, duh. Science fiction. Poetry - while I'd love to, i'm terrible at it. And same with fanfiction - I'd love to, i'm horrible at it. I managed a few pieces back in the day, but back in the day was a long time ago.

I Like To Read: Speculative fiction, war stories, realistic fiction, unexpected things. Things that grab my interest. Things that defy convention. short fiction that makes you think. and of course, every fangirl's indulgence - fanfiction. /Well-written/ fanfiction. And well written, tasteful erotica even though I'm not supposed to. Take that, Big Brother.

I Don't Read: Anything that every teenage girl in America is tripping over. High fantasy. Boring things. Most of the fiction assigned to me this year in English simply because it didn't quite tickle my fancy, which would explain why I consistently made B's on my tests.

Favorite Authors: Chuck Palahniuk, Ken Kesey, J. D. Salinger. ummm. Philip Roth. i don't know. I read anything I find interesting.

I'm Looking For: An audience. Someone to critique bad writing and make it better. Someone to give me a push and help me break this writer's block. Someone to be my muse and give me ideas. Maybe even someone to co-write with someday. Or I'm also looking to read some new and interesting fiction or short stories. And maybe a couple aspiring English majors to yammer back and forth with. And also people who are willing to put up with listening about my life, since that's what you'll get with the majority of my journal. But i'll try to make it interesting to read.

'Ello, 'ello.

Name: Jessica

Age: 18

Location: Not telling :P I do live in the U.S., though

About me: I'm horrible at writing "about me" pieces. Let me see. I'm a senior in high school who will be attending Curry College next year in pursuit of some sort of a degree in English/Creative writing. I enjoy reading but it's been quite hard to find a decent book to keep my dear old mind occupied (my attention span = non-existant). My boyfriend says I speak galaxies, which is his name for my poetic talk. Hmm. My favorite season is autumn and my favorite color is indigo. I'm a cat person, but not really. I am Christian and a "creationist" as a friend of mine said earlier today. I try my best not to judge and condemn. And... I'm human.

What I write: Poetry, for the most part, but I've been trying (trying is the key word) to write a short story. Most of my work is fantasy or horror related, though the horror is lacking the fright factor if you ask me. I've taken part in online RP in the past.

What I don't write: I'm open to writing mostly anything, as long as it catches my interest. Well. I don't use structure very well when writing my poems. I'm not into the whole rhyming thing, but I'll do it... I just let my words take me instead of me taking them.

What I like to read: Fantasy; sci-fi that does not go overboard with robots, aliens, or impossibly advanced technology; and some gothic horror, whatever that is. I do enjoy reading about religion, fairy tales, and mythology. Erotica is also fine with me, as long as it isn't too harsh.

What I don't read: Western; Gossip Girl esque books; homosexual erotica... fan-fics. Am I too picky?

Favourite authors: Francesca Lia Block; Charles de Lint; Neil Gaiman; Octavia E. Butler; Patricia A. McKillip; Madeleine L'Engle; C.S. Lewis; J.R.R. Tolkien (though I've never finished anything by him, his writing style is amazing).

Other: Did you know the vampire lifestyle classifies people with titles such as "Black Swan"?

Name: helena.
i tend to type without capital letters or punctuation in these things, but i dont do it when i write, so just so you dont think im totally ignorant :)

About Me: im 15, and i feel much older than that. i love muse, the dresden dolls, playing bass, drawing (a little), and of course, writing.

I Write: fiction. im finding difficulty fitting my writings into another genre apart from that, but you wont catch me writing about the lazertron 6000 or anything that involves bandslash :)
at the moment im writing a short story thing, where each chapter is a song from the muse album absolution.

I Don't Write: anything overly gory or graphic. thats not saying i dont like a bit of horror or romance, but just nothing really 18-rated. and war or science fiction doesnt really float my boat either.

I Like To Read: im quite picky about what i read, but anything that grabs my attention. my latest fangirly thing is the twilight series by stephanie meyer :)

I Don't Read: anything that involves robots, tanks or young girls stressing about life.

Favorite Authors: i couldnt possibly name them all.

I'm Looking For: anyone who thinks im interesting, and doesnt mind me posting snippets of unfinished stories all the time!

Other: add me if i dont seem like a freak to you :)

Since I'm Apart of the Fanfic-Writing Business
NOTE: This will likely be the only entry I'll be posting to this community, but I may be seen commenting other introduction entries.
Greetings. My name is Lerena Leigh Helena, and by my icon, you should be able to tell I'm actually an ex-fan of the anime InuYasha, hence my username. In order to partake in an interesting past time, I've taken up writing fanfiction more often. It would be pleasing to hear from other writers who enjoy Anime, or Charmed; if you are a fan of either, we should talk about collaborate fanfiction. I'm a girl who likes to experiment with different horizons and types of literary works; poetry, non-fiction, novels, and dialog. I participate in events that allow me to explore my creative nature more often. My main works are mainly humor/romance and horror/cryptic.

If you've followed my cut, then you must be pretty interested in what I've typed. If you are interested in talking to me, please comment and we'll discuss further plans there. Please note that I'm a Christian, so take into account some things that might offend me beforehand. I can be quite defensive, despite the fact I'm perverted and curse a lot.

Know of a good writing community?

Note: Gah! Don't prosecute me over grammar and spelling, writers, I'm typing this in haste.

I understand many of you are creators/maintainers of several writing communities. At times, despite the rules, few even advertise them outside your introductions. As a maintainer myself, I sympathize but this is simply a community to add friends of a similar interest. I would like for it remain simply that. However, lately, I've been receiving lots of emails from community members asking if I know of any "good writing communities" where actual writing/critiquing/whatever is done. I unfortunately don't, but I want to change that. If you are a maintainer or member of a writing community and want to give it exposure, please comment with said community and tell me about it. Ever since this community showed in LJ Spotlight, it has been a pretty popular hub for writers. Denying publicity of other similar communities would be rather greedy. Next week, I'll make a post listing all the available writing communities. The post will be linked in add_a_writer and add_a_ya's profiles for anyone's use.

Also. TAGS! WE HAS EM NAO! In the next several days I'm going to be adding tags to past posts in both add_a_writer and add_a_ya. I think many might appreciate a feature like that compared to flipping back post by post. Feel free to give me a hand by adding the appropriate tags to your post(s). If you feel as if I mis-tagged you, remove it. I'm merely adding what I feel is appropriate by what you offer in your introductions. If you think of anything else that has not been listed in the Tags list and would like to see it available, tell me.

Once again, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me.

Keep Writing,

Vanessa

eta: comments will be screened

Stars & Horseshoes or Clovers & Blue Moons?

Name: Aleth

About Me: I'm terrible when it comes to writing about myself, but somehow I manage. I often like to say things like 'Oh sigh' instead of actually sighing and occasionally I'll type out the weird noises I make when I'm tired, hungry, or exasperated. (ex. 'Auuuu', 'Guhhh', 'Mehhh') It probably sounds as dumb as it looks, but I don't know how else to describe it to you. I get pretty excited when I chat over AIM and I often barrage people with multiple messages of fragments of a single sentence if the conversation is engaging enough.

I Write: Fiction. I don't know how much more specific I can get than that, but I think it's mostly what teenage girls would read. My writing tends to lean towards drama, romance, and my style is to throw in a bit of humor whether it be a character or a circumstance. Basically, anything I or anyone can have fun with as either a reader or a writer. I also do a bit of fanfiction here and there, but

I Don't Write: Mystery, Suspense, Horror. You know, any of those books with the intricate plots and underlying mysteries to be solved. I can't do them. Non-fiction is another thing I don't often associate with. Blah, not for me at all.

I Like To Read: I tend to go to Costco and browse whatever is on sale there for some randomly selected reads, but as I write I mostly pick up anything that falls in the fiction genre. Mainstream or literary. Young Adult books are nice for quick reads and romance novels are pretty crazy. I really, really liked horror novels when I was young, for some reason, but I like anything that catches my interest, really. Gothic fiction, for example.

I Don't Read: Non-fiction. Boring, bland novels.

Favorite Authors: Off the top of my head, I liked a lot of Jane Austen's work, Gail Carson Levine, and Chuck Palahniuk. Aside from that asking for favorite authors is like asking for favorite bands. I like individual pieces more often than artists/authors themselves. I'm a literary drifter, going all over the place, but don't take that term too seriously because I just threw it in there because it sounded cool.

I'm Looking For: Anyone who would be interested in having another pal, not just another name on your friend's list.

Other: I don't come off as too odd, do I? Come along and post on my semiFriends Only entry if I haven't scared you away~

Pimping Myself Out? Just a Bit

Name: Swanky

Age: Mentally? Definitely at least two. XP

Location: America

About me: I never know what to write in these things. I like a whole bunch of things, from RPing to reading to drawing to procrastinating. Lately though school has been eating up all my happy fun time, and what free time I do have I misuse and abuse. I have recently gotten into all sorts of lovely T.V. shows like Dexter, House, Skins, Dr. Who, Torchwood, the Office (U.S.), but Heroes will always be number one. I spend too much of my free time looking up pretty icons, I laugh over things that most people find stupid at best, and I like to talk to people who do not find it a chore to talk back.

What I write: XD Oh dear. I haven’t written anything original in years, sadly enough. Lots of ideas, not enough push past the first paragraph and the random seed of all encompassing inspiration. Mostly I stick to fanfiction, though I haven’t done that in ages either, mostly since I like RPing more. It’s more fun and interactive, I think, and it’s a good way to meet people. Though I have dabbled in just about everything from haikus to limericks to short stories.

What I don't write: Sci-Fi (too technical), smut, and long chaptered stories. My attention is a sad, sad thing.

What I like to read: Almost everything. I love to read things that make me learn, about people who go through things I never would, or just a corny romance novel. I’ve even started reading the newspaper, yay! The easier question would be what don’t I like to read, though I don’t think there’s really anything on the list other than most ‘classical’ works. I’ve even read parts of the dictionary in fits of boredom. Yea, I know I’m, a nerd.

What I don't read: Sci-Fi (though Ender’s Game was pretty awesome, I’ll admit), badly written works, stuff that is saturated with needless description (sorry Tolkien).

Favourite authors: Francesca Lia Block, Tamora Pierce, Markus Zusak, Annette Curtis Klause, Gail Carson Levine, though usually I just love individual books more than their authors…

Other: Feel free to stop by and say hi! When I say friendly, I do mean it. Even if my conversational skills are not uber mad pwnzors, I do love meeting new people. I’m a Gemini? XP

Name: Caroline(Dance_Doll)

About Me: I love to write and I read a lot of different books. I'm blonde(the dumb blonde steriotype doesn't apply to me), and I have gray-blue eyes.

What I Write: Pretty much anything. I espiecally love to write romance and fantasy stories. The problem that I have is that I get too many story ideas, so I never actually finish a story.

What I Don't Write: Lyrics and poems. (I am not good at rhyming)

What I Like To Read: I love most books. I espiecally like romance. I am a complete sap when it comes to romance.

What I Don't Read: Books that start out slow and don't get to the point of the story.

Favorite Authors: Stephenie Meyers, JK Rowling, Lisa Klein, Tamora Pierce, Nancy Holder, Robin McKinley, Elizabeth C. Bunce... too many to count...

What I'm Looking For: People to talk to and get book recommendations from.

Other: I'm willing to critique other people's stories.

Name: Katie aka indyangel =)

About Me: I'm a 16 year old, English lass born and bred. I love writing and I'm an avid reader of almost anything. I'm a student in her last mainstream year of school, mature for my age but still fun! I have a colourful, photographic memory and I remember pretty much everything - important or not. I write in a lot of detail and can be a bit of a perfectionist at times. I'm a graphic maker and I make layouts, icons and banners among other things. I'm a biker chick - been around motorbikes my entire life and I can be rather opinionated and stand up for what I believe in. I'm sensitive and I will always listen to and help anyone in need. You can find out more on my user info page.

What I Write: Drabbles, stories, novels, essays, poems, lyrics. I don't think there's much I won't try when it comes to writing. I prefer writing in the romance genre if I'm writing something long. I love writing essays especially when they're on something I believe in or it's something I'm passionate about.

What I Don't Write: Haiku poems. I cannot do them.

What I Like To Read: Anything I can get my hands on. I just love to read! I'm always willing to try new types of books/genres/different things to my normal reading.

What I Don't Read: Novels that take about half the book to get to the point of the story and anime novels.

Favorite Authors: Jodi Picoult, Stephenie Meyers, JK Rowling, Annie Murray, Margaret Dickinson, Penny Vincenzi, Cecelia Ahern.

What I'm Looking For: People to chat to and friend who have interesting pieces of writing on their LJ or people who want work critiqued or like critiquing. I'm open to anyone to be honest. =) Also Book recommendations, LJ community recommendations, LJ friends =)

Other: I'm willing to read other people's work and comment on it.

Hi!

Name: Lil Darcy

About Me: I'm one of those mad writers who talks about her characters like they're real people. I got on LJ for support during my out-of-season nanowrimo attempt, so I don't have many entries yet that are interesting (or even understandable). My favorite part of writing is creating characters and character dynamics; like I said, I treat my characters like they're real, so I just sit back and watch it happen.

What I Write: Almost anything. Mostly I write poetry, essays and fantasy. Not the medieval sword-waving type of fantasy-- more like street fantasy. The magic happens in a very urban setting. I'm not really the literary type. I write to entertain my friends. If you give me a story prompt, I will probably write you something for it.

What I Don't Write: I'm terrible at writing fanfiction, because I can't stick to canon for the life of me. I don't mind reading it, though.

What I Like To Read: Everything. I can't really describe the type of writing I'm partial to, since that tends to be on a book by book basis. I like action/comedy a lot. I like authentic settings, but I don't like the type of fantasy/historical/science fiction where the author lets the facts get in the way of the story. Fiction is about telling believable lies. Don't worry about offending or shocking me, it's nearly impossible.

What I Don't Read: Gossip-Girl-type young adult chick lit. I'd rather not have the adventures of a bunch of prep school kids shoved down my throat.

Favorite Authors: So many! Scott Lynch, Wendelin Van Draaen, Diana Wynne Jones, Stephen King, Sherman Alexie, Jack London, Charlotte Bronte... the list goes on, and it continues to be just as random. I am not above reading children's books.

What I'm Looking For: People to swap ideas and stories with. Once I get to know someone's writing style, I am more comfortable with critiquing them. I also like writing sections of stories and passing them back and forth... sort of like a jam session for writers.

Other: It's kind of embarrassing how few friends I have on LJ. I'm still figuring out how it works. I'm interesting, I swear! *laughs*

Add me and send me your stuff!

Add me?

Name: Anne aka sakru909

About me: I'm a fairly smart high-school student, but I'm not as immature as most teenagers. I love writing fanfiction and original fiction; creating stories and exploring characters is what I do best. I don't have a religion per say, but I do believe in doing what's right and do believe there is a God even though I do question everything; that could just be my paranoia, but whatever.

While I can't vote yet I do have a strong political basis. I don't care whether someone is a Democrat or Republican, I just want the best canidate to win. I also identify myself as bisexual and strongly believe in gay rights. I'm not much in the way of activism, but I do hope to get into that more.

What I write: I write about anything that interests me, but I mostly write about high-school and the experince of being a teenager since I can relate to that and have recent experince that influences my writing. I try to inject humor into every story I write. The humor I write about can range from black comedy, snark and sarcasm, to light humor.

I do write about dark subject matter and explore the realms of the human psyche, but I do like to have happy endings bordering on being bittersweet. While I write mostly happy endings I sometimes write more dark or bleak endings, though it depends largely on what kind of story I'm writing.

When I write I always hope that I do get an emotional response from the reader, be it happiness or horror.

What I don't write: I'll write pretty much anything if it tickles my fancy.

What I like to read: Fantasy, science fiction, thrillers/espionage, mystery, manga, and classic lit.

What I don't read: Most nonfiction, romance, and young adult.

Favourite authors: Douglas Adams, George Orwell, H.P Lovecraft, Issac Asimov, James Patterson, Neil Gaiman, Oscar Wilde, and Terry Pratchett.

What I’m looking for: Anybody who has the same interests as me and who I can get unto an intelligent discussion with. Comments are nice, but it's not really a requirment, though maybe a comment once in a blue moon would be nice.

Other: I have both an original writing comm, sakru_fiction, and a fanfiction journal, sakru_writer, if anybody is interested.

I'm a pretty laid back kind of girl so anybody is free to add me; I'll make sure to add you back too.

hallo... again. :D

Name: Twila (as in twilight).

Age: Fifteen.

Location: Vancouver, B.C., Canada.

About me: I have a complicated mix of ancestral roots that just cracks me up. I can speak a little Spanish and I love music. I sing and play trombone and some flute. I LOVE contemporary Christian music, some good indie rock, classical (as in from Josh Groban to Tchaikovsky), operatic pop and classical crossovers (Andrea Bocelli, anyone?). Soul music is good too. Aside from music and writing, I also like photography, science, history and foreign languages. As you can already tell, I'm not witty, but I do have a big mouth. I love life and I've been told lots of times that I wear my heart on my sleeve although I don't think I do.

What else...

Oh yeah, I love simple things. They're always the most beautiful.

What I write: Lots of drabbles inspired by music, poetry (really crappy ones, too), lots of short stories, really short plays, lots of tragedy and death and some comedy too (I'm bad at humour, that's why). I'm also writing my first-ever fanfiction (which I put on hiatus... lawl). Most of my pieces are basically thoughts about the world and things like that.

What I don't write: Romance, sci-fi, post-apocalyptic and anything warm and fuzzy.

What I like to read: Some historical fiction, real world issues (in fiction, of course), archaeological articles (National Geographic for the win!), some classics, some post-apocalyptic stuff and anything that makes me cry and think. But really, anything that catches my eye.

What I don't read: Gossip, job ads and business sections of the newspaper. Romance, sci-fi.

Favourite authors: Jodi Picoult, John Wyndham, Khaled Hosseini, James Heneghan, Daniel Handler (a.k.a. Lemony Snicket. He's kewl!), Cherie Bennett and Kit Pearson.

Other: I'm about five-foot-three, I love to eat, and... I'm supposed to be doing laundry right now.

Add?

Name: Alyssa

Age: I prefer not to disclose this information in this community. I am obviously within a certain age group to be in this community, but I'd rather not share it here.

Location: United States of America. I'd rather not disclose a specific place of residence in this community.

About Me: I'm a girl that's partial to Disney movies and reading. I'm a Christian and an ESPN addict. I love school and The Sound of Music.

I want to travel the world (well, mostly Europe and Australia, possibly South America) and get my writing published someday. I prefer pen over pencil and keep to-do lists with me at all times.

Comments are nice, but not required-- livejournal is not a job. My only request is that you add me back as I try to keep my friends' list organized.

What I write: I'm a journalist by nature and also write quite a bit of fanfiction, most of which I've yet to complete full stories for. My fanfiction is primarily Harry Potter, but I'll delve into other places once in a while. I have a lot of ideas for original stories floating in my head with drabbles written down in all sorts of random places. I'll post pieces of my writing in my journal sometimes, but it's not all I do in there.

What I like to read: It's hard for me to narrow it down to a few sentences-- I'm a learner! I love to learn, I love to read. I'll read almost anything: the newspaper on my break at work, tabloids in the supermarket check-out, a novel from the library, a fanfiction piece in someone's journal. I can't limit it, really.

Favorite Authors: I'm not going to lie-- I adore chick lit. Sophie Kinsella and Meg Cabot rock my world. I read Sarah Dessen and Nicholas Sparks as well. I adore J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books, of course. Lois Duncan has always been a favorite, as has Mildred D. Taylor. Mary Higgins Clark, Phyllis A. Whitney, and Michael Shaara have never disappointed me. There are so many others as well. As if I could name them all!

What I don't read: I can find enjoyment in nearly anything. It might be easier if I named things I didn't like. The Perks of Being a Wallflower was sheer torture for me to read. Way too much angst for a little book. I also wouldn't enjoy things that are extremely crude (as in: if the movie Knocked Up were a book, I'd hate it. I wasn't crazy about the movie, in fact).

What I don't write: I think I could only answer this if I had a definitive answer to what I do write.

Other: My journal is about much more than writing. It's mostly daily life kind of stuff, just so everyone knows.

Name: Sam; I pen my work with S.E. Hart

Age: 18

Location: US (but a big anglophile)

About me: I'm an eighteen year old genderqueer bloke of a filmmaker going through the hell of school. I haven't done much writing in the last year or so because of medications and such dried up the creative well. I'm getting back into it with one step at a time.

About my journal: It's pretty much a hodgepodge of my life, writings, transition, and maybe some photos of what I bought that day at the store.

What I like: food, video games, CSI:LV, Doctor Who, Torchwood, movies, philosophy, psychology, sociology, pretending, acting, Theatre, boys, Medieval Age. Be forewarned I'm quite an obsessive person.

What I dislike: A lot of stuff. Mostly people who don't respect me for what/who I am.

What I read: Fiction. Anything and everything really: poetry, play, scripts, books, drabbles, dribbles, fanfiction, etc. I like raunchy stuff things that pertain to my generation. I like books with an interesting cover that pops out at me. I like bad language and absurd topics that get my brain churning with some fun ideas.

What I don't read: Mostly biographies, non-fiction that doesn't pertain to any of my current obsessions.

Favorite authors: I don't have favourite authors just favourite books. Though I like Ayn Rand, that guy (Chuck?) that wrote Choke and Fight Club.

What I write: Fanfiction, short stories, very little poetry, plays, scripts, there's a novel or two underworks.

What I don’t write: I don't know. I try everything once.

Could you edit someone else's work?: Yes I can.

What I’m looking for: People to toss ideas at (I write ideas on my LJ), some people to give/get challenges, some people from my fandoms (Doctor Who (Doctor/Rose, Doctor/Jack, Doctor/Master), Torchwood (Jack/Ianto), CSI). Anyone really.

Anyone find me interesting and want to be friends?

(x-posted from add_a_writer)

The Proverbial Oddball

(This has been x-posted from add_a_writer)

Name: Call me Athu. That's the simplest way to pronounce my other-wise bother-some name =)

Age: Fifteen

About Me:

A lazy bum to boot... extraordinarily cynical and sarcastic most of the time. Am well-intentioned, even if a few of my adventures don't go exactly the way I planned them... ahem. >.>" Pretty nice once you get to know me.

I obsess over all sorts of creative work... I sketch and paint on a fairly regular basis (abstracts, predominantly), sing, play the veena, Photoshop, debate and of course, write, among other things. I'm a compulsive photographer who has been forced to make do with a useless camera-phone. I take a lot of abstract, different-perspective pictures, which are on my blog.

Fiction-wise, I'm rather realistic & down-to-earth - well, I'm in that phase, anyway. I do write mushy, nice, feel-good stuff sometimes, but that's just to prove that even I am capable of being human once in a while! =) My creative output depends upon my mood at that point; I'm quite comfy with both poetry as well as prose.

I'm a fanfiction writer on the side; I have a number of fics written for quite a variety of fandoms, but I haven't had enough time to put them up yet.

Currently, I'm working on a project that is supposed to be a historical fantasy and I'm having a smashing time researching!

If you need, I could help with editing/BETA-ing... I'm a complete grammar/punctuation freak =D

Authors: William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, PG Wodehouse, Mark Twain, Paulo Coelho, Harper Lee, Jhumpa Lahiri, Lynne Truss, P. J. Tracy, Christopher Paolini, Arthur Conan Doyle, Anne Frank, Samit Basu, John Grisham, Oscar Wilde... classic literature, contemporary fantasy and fiction

I Enjoy: Writing, Singing, Reading, Sketching, Photoshopping, Going on walks alone, Hiking, Discovering new places by myself, Photography etc

I Dislike: I'm anti anything that is commercialised. It totally defeats the point of being an "individual"... we might as well all be herds of buffaloes! I also hate people who wear their religions on their sleeves... well, it's fine as long as they're into it. It just irritates me when they try to force their beliefs down everyone's else's throats too. Unnecessary swearing puts me off too.

Who I'd Like To Add: People who're actually willing to read and comment on stuff that I post for more than the first three days. Honestly, when I take time off to read everything that you've written and comment on it (which I do unfailingly), isn't it fair that I get that? Lurkers are asked to stay away; I enjoy conversing with people on my flist. Plagiarism is strictly forbidden.

Name: Morgan (I know, I know...boring, right?)
Age: 15
Location: Suburbia...stiflingly so, in fact.

About Me: Well...I'm a completely musically obsessed writer currently in a rather vicious bout of writer's block. I have an extremely serious allergy to cliches, but I live for lyrics and any kind of poetry or lit that makes you think. I'm known for being opinionated and using big words (usually not on purpose!)

What I like to read: Other than poetry and lyrics...most books that adults tell me NOT to read (how I came to discover "A Clockwork Orange", for instance) and anything that has me turning pages after I read a random passage in the middle. That's how I ended up with half of my library, actually: I picked up the book, flipped to a random page, and if found myself wanting more, I'd buy the book. Haha.

What I don't read: Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and most historical fiction (my 7th grade social studies teacher ruined THAT for me...::shudders::)

What I don't write: Any of the above and/or romance.

Favorite Authors: Usually completely random authors, but I'm pretty partial to James Ellroy. Make me think, throw in some metaphors, and I'm sold. =)

Other: I'm kind of offbeat and dramatic at times, but I'm always up for meeting new people...so...add me if...um...[[insert witty end-of-post line here]]
