Sunday afternoon, 2 p.m.

We made convention history. Write it down. Mark it. Remember. We hope with everything for more 'Chuck' because it's gone from a good series to a GREAT series. NBC has television history and an awesome hit right in their hands. However, what Zach Levi and several hundred people did in Birmingham will be talked about twenty, thirty years from now.

Because this was the day when Zach led us out of the convention in a massed willing walk-out to the nearby Subway. This is how much faith [mostly] European viewers have in him, in the rest of the cast and in 'Chuck'. Most of us would do the same [and more] for 'Firefly'. Yes, 'Chuck' is in an entirely different genre, but it's touching that kind of awesome at the end of season 2. 'Chuck' itself has the potential to be regarded as a classic serial in years to come. At the moment, its fate stands poised on a knife edge.

So, there we were; walking in the sunshine and into the nearby Mall [well, it's somewhat like a Mall] to the nearest Subway. After making a vocal report for the 'Chuck' pod cast folk, shooting video and taking pictures, I got in line. By this time, Zach was behind the counter, wearing plastic gloves and helping dispense subs! I had a meatball marinara meal. Zach added lettuce, peppers and sweetcorn. The sub was delicious. I still have the wrappers if anyone wants them!!!

Sunday afternoon & evening

I had steward duty again in the afternoon. Adam spent much of the three hours standing and continuing to flex his shoulders. I'd done a VERY quick change into 'Xena' mode by this time. I was asked to help Jimmy out around the room as he got his autographs. I found out that Jimmy had quite inadvertently scarred all the guests for life during his photo shoot by accidentally catching his kilt and proving once and for all that Scottish men really don't wear knickers underneath! He gave Adam a mini bottle of a particularly nice single malt and a tiny copy of Burns poetry. This gift was repeated to Zach and Summer.

Then it was on to the closing ceremony after getting my stuff autographed. Jonathan was drawing his charity raffle and there were urges all around for him to speed it up! Eventually, he was done and we said goodbye to the guests. Lyn had evidently shared with Adam and Mark that she's going through a bit of a tough time at the moment. Adam gave her a supportive 'pep' talk, put his arm around her and did more for her in a minute or two than all the rest of her friends combined. And that's why we love him. He made the difference. I don't think Lyn's come down yet! I was so touched and impressed that I went up to him and found myself in a half hug and went to kiss him on the cheek. My kiss landed on his jawline [not surprising since I'm a good six inches shorter than him!]. He said 'God bless'. I said, 'You too!' and to my surprise he pulled me back in for another kiss on the cheek!

Well, after that, both Lyn and I thought we were done with the weekend's pleasures. However, the next morning, when Lyn and I checked out of our room, there was Adam getting into the lift ahead of us! He held the door, so we thanked him. He had his baseball cap low down and was wearing shades. Either he hadn't slept well, or maybe he'd had a fair helping of alcohol, or maybe jet lag was catching up with him. Wish I could have given him some TLC [queue's over there!!!]. He said goodbye; we said we were looking forward to the next time and that was that.

One of the best weekends EVER!

Autographs

After a couple of other panels and a quick bite of lunch, Lyn and I had steward duty. As it happened, I was I the room with Adam, Zach, Miracle, Zichen and Summer. Adam stood up for a fair bit of the time he was signing and flexed his upper arms and shoulders. Someone told me later that he'd hurt his back on the 'Road 2 recovery' ride for injured forces' veterans in Texas. I don't know how accurate this information is. It could just have been a bad flight and jet lag. I got my bits and bobs singed and headed off duty to change for the Masquerade.

Masquerade

People entering the competition included a whole slew of assorted Terminators, Luke plus two adults as Willy Wonka with two large Umpa Lumpas, She-Ra, Rhiannon as Sarah Walker in 'Orange Orange' mode, a Mogwai, Moist groupies [from 'Dr Horrible'], Red Power Ranger, Nerd-inator, brave Sir Robin [Monty Python] and me as the Wiener-ator. I had a home made version of 'Vera' with my outfit, complete with a genuine red laser pointer. I was on third and made sure I kept the red laser light away from people's eyes, although I did run the beam up Adam's chest :-). Once that was over, there was a bit of dancing and then Lyn and I eventually headed to bed.

Sunday

I had photo shoots again in the morning with Zach and Adam. This day I was wearing my 'Orange Orange' copy costume. Both Zach and Adam commented favourably on my Wiener-ator costume from the previous evening and said they'd been rooting for me. I took the opportunity to cuddle Adam a little more closely this time :-). After that, Jonathan Woodward, Dominic Keating and Georges Jeanty were doing 'church' in the main hall. Those who've seen what Jonathan perform this before are aware of the semi-controlled drunken anarchy! Georges did look somewhat bemused. Dominic sang an alternative version of the 'Enterprise' theme including the lyrics, 'I've got tits and ass, better than Jolene Blalock...' [from memory]. Jonathan had an improvement for us; the brand new 'Whisky vision 9000' camera attached to a very peculiar cow hoofed bottle. Most of the humour in this hour was risque and largely unrepeatable! This is not unusual when Jonathan's in charge....!!!

Felicia, Miracle and Dichen

On the Saturday, Miracle and her fiancé had entertained us with their ukuleles, so they did an encore with a Polynesian song. Miracle danced out front whilst Felicia and Dichen copied behind her. It was very graceful. Joss could definitely use this in future 'Dollhouse' episodes! Let's hope he gets the chance. Felicia would like to wear leather, wield a sword and make out with Clive Owen!

Adam, Mark & Summer

Someone asked Adam if he'd like to be cast as a T300 Terminator against Summer as Cameron. 'I'm up for it; we're both on the bubble'. They talked about Halo and game voice overs. Adam thinks Anna Woo is sexy! Casey's 40 calibre Equinox was copied and made into a real functioning gun after it was seen on 'Chuck'. There was some joking about a Prada handgun line! This led into Mark and Adam launching into a discussion about various kinds of handguns. Adam likes military clothing because it's usually breathable and the boots are good. Adam claims to be 150 pounds heavier than Summer. She told a tale from on set at having to break something with her hands which was 'only plaster', except it wasn't!

Adam told us that he'd refused to wear a harness once [because it was uncomfortable]. Off a question about keeping grounded; Mark, 'Don't look to other people to make you happy', Adam, 'My kids don't think I'm famous, plus he's found it makes me happy keeping the people around me happy'; 'Be happy for those around you and have beer!'.

Other Adam quotes; 'Live below your means', 'There's no such thing as a bad job, because the alternative is no work', 'Summer's my little sister and one of the most beautiful women in the world'.

Tongue twisters – Girl gargoyle, guy gargoyle, lemon liniment and Dewar's on the rocks!

'I'm an alien in New York...'

Mark; 'He'll fight you!'; Adam, 'He'll lose!'

Fan experiences. Mark meeting Peter O'Toole, 'Fuck me, it's Lawrence of Arabia!!'
Adam, meeting Clint Eastwood, David Petraus [and George W Bush recently].

Save "Chuck" Campaign
As the finale for the second season of "Chuck" is upon us and NBC is working out their fall schedules, there is no guarantee that "Chuck" will get a third season. That doesn't have to stop us. There are still things we can do, and as I'm sure some of my visitors are Browncoats, you know the power of being persistant and doing the impossible.

There are a couple of ways we as fans can help keep the show going. As mentioned in a previous update, you can always write, buy and watch the show. Here are some more ideas you can do to help:

Letters & Nerds! Buy Nerds (the candy) and send them to with your letters. Check out ChuckTV.net's Save "Chuck" Campaign for more information on writing a letter, they have some great tips on there. Send your letter and your Nerds candy to both:

Ben Silverman
Co-Chairman
3000 W. Alameda
Admin Building
Burbank, CA 91523

Angela Bromstad
President of Primetime Series
100 Universal City Plaza
Bldg 1320, 4th Floor
Universal City, CA 91608

Finale & A Subway Footlong! To reward and incentivize Subway for their product placement support of Chuck, on the evening of the season finale, April 27th, go to your local Subway to purchase a $5 FOOTLONG. Drop a note in the comment box at the franchise letting them know you’re participating in the ChuckTV.net campaign to save NBC’s Chuck, of which Subway is a product placement sponsor. If you plan to do this, be sure to include that intent in your letters to Ben Silverman and Angela Bromstad at NBC.

Check out more at Zachary Levi.com, and write to Bill Schettini the Subway Chief Marketing Officer to let them know we pay attention to their product placement sponsoring on "Chuck".

Ride 2 Recovery: An Amazing Journey

The warrior cried, but not for himself.

His tears flowed from the blessing of the little girl -- the one with the angel-voice. And, as we stood in ovation in the American Legion Hall her lyric, "... I once was lost, but now I'm found. Was blind, but now I see" reminded him why his military service and the forty-odd years since had all been worthwhile: her Freedom, our Freedom.

As our tearful eyes locked, he restrained in a whisper, "See that? That's why I lost my legs in Vietnam." But then he smiled, "losing my legs is the best thing that ever happened to me... it's why I am here right now, and it's given me a great life."

Of course, I can never truly know the depth of my new friend Duane Wagner's struggles in meeting his post Vietnam war challenges, but I was privileged to share with him a true moment of 'amazing grace' in the knowledge that his sacrifices -- and all those of his compatriots -- were not in vain.

That beautiful moment was but one of countless expressions of dignity and courage that I witnessed during my participation in this year's Ride 2 Recovery "Don't Mess With Texas Challenge" -- a 350 mile bicycle ride from Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas to Arlington's Texas Ranger's Ballpark, Mar. 30 - Apr. 4, 2009.

Ride 2 Recovery is produced by the Fitness Challenge Foundation, in partnership with the Military and the VA Volunteer Service Office, to benefit Mental and Physical Rehabilitation Programs that feature cycling as the core activity.

When Former Marine John Wordin, R2R's founder and a world-class cyclist, extended me an invitation I jumped at the opportunity to make a journey with some of America's heroic Wounded Warriors.

Little did I realize the abject humbling ahead, both physical and emotional, once I'd cinched up my cleats, smeared the recommended "liberal amounts" of Chamois Butt'r® upon my "sensitive areas" and saddled up with Purple Heart Veterans ranging from the Vietnam War to today's Global War on Terror, and our team of fellow riders & supporters from the American Legion Auxiliary and USO.

To ride along the back roads of Texas into 40-50 mph headwinds for 35 miles with such brave men as Nathan Hunt, who gave both of his legs in service to America during Operation Iraqi Freedom, is among the most profoundly exhausting yet uplifting experiences of my life.

We barely spoke during those five grueling hours, but Nate's determination and resolve to endure spoke volumes to me. I will never again hear the words "I can't" from an able-bodied person without thinking of him. Yes you can, my friends. Yes you can!

Luke "Joe Dirt" Goedert -- his lower back shattered by an IED and now held together with titanium plates and screws -- was pumping along on his hand-bike one non-descript Texas back road afternoon.

As I pulled alongside he barked, "Hey 'Animal Mother'," a character I once portrayed, "thanks for coming... I don't think too many of those guys in Hollywood would do this. But that's okay," he sang out, "don't apologize for them. They're the ones missing out!"

And with that truth, we chortled and muscled our bikes onward to the awaiting roadside USO Canteen support vehicle and its welcoming diet of tasty PB&J's, hot soup, beef Jerky, and ice cold PowerAde.

When you join R2R, you'll also get to meet American cycling legend Wayne Stetina. Wayne is a three-time Olympian ('72, '76 &'80), and eleven-time U.S. national champion. Among the many things he'll teach you will be the finer points of drafting in a peloton (look it up), and why it's so important to keep pace within your group, especially when struggling into a headwind.

And, should you fall behind, Wayne, John or one of the stronger team riders will be there to lend you a boosting hand on your backside to get you caught up.

On day three we were deeply honored with a hot spaghetti dinner hosted by Ft. Hood's III Corps Commanding Officer Lt. General Rick Lynch, one of General Petraeus' chief architects of America's successful surge in Iraq. The next morning, Sgt. Major Ciotolo and a thousand of his loyal troops and support personnel enthusiastically cheered us 60 miles windward towards Waco.

Our final stop in Cleburne, presented Rep. Chet Edwards (D-TX), Chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee and his constituents -- among them our former Commander in Chief, George W. Bush (R-TX). They met, mingled and joked with us. They also listened to the vital transitional rehabilitative concerns and needs of our Wounded Warriors.

These powerful Texas gentlemen, in a bipartisan/nonpartisan show of goodwill, then gave us a hearty send-off on our last day's ride into Arlington and its Texas Rangers vs. KC Royal's game.

There, on a glorious Saturday afternoon, our ride's General David Blackledge, America's highest ranking officer wounded in Iraq, and Nate Hunt each threw out ceremonial first pitches to the cheers of the assembled crowd.

To those of my Entertainment Industry brethren who have until now missed out on contributing their time (and/or cash please) with our American troops and veterans, whom we all support: "You talk the talk", pace Animal Mother, "Do you walk the walk?" Or better yet, will you please help ride the ride?

Skip your spinning or yoga class for a few days to join an upcoming Ride 2 Recovery event in a show of support to our heroic military men and women and their courageous families.

In my mind, this journey loudly echoes my new friend Duane the warrior's sentiment that this experience is one of the best things that ever happened to me. I promise that it will change your life for the better as well.

C'mon, let's saddle up!
