| About: | Burnout is high among activists, especially these days. This is a community created where activists can come together, and give and get support for what they do. Sometimes the cause (whatever your cause may be) feels hopeless, and sometimes great things come of it. Come here to let us know how you're feeling, and give or get advice on how to avoid or combat burnout. Share with us your victories, too- that keeps us all going! A caveat: The word "activist" can encompass a very wide range of ideas. Be aware that I am creating this community for mostly left-winged activists, those involved with things like anti-war, anti-nukes, gay rights, women's rights, worker's rights, etc. For instance, if you just had a great Operation Rescue campaign, this probably isn't the place for you. Just thought I'd warn ya. Guidelines: Not too many. And they are subject to change. 1)I think it should go without saying that we need to be nice to each other. If you don't like someone's politics, you're welcome to pick a fight with them over it- just not here. Take it outside. 2)This needs to be a safe space for folks to come to. Therefore, trolls will be dealt with swiftly, and probably without notice. By "dealt with", I mean "delete post/comment, and ban". My definition of a troll is actually pretty narrow, but I can't abide 'em. 3)There may be sensitive issues shared. If a post is friends-locked, please respect that privacy and not share with others what someone has just shared with us. By the same token, if you have sensitive issues to share, please consider friends-locking it. 4)Pure logistics/administrative-> a)super-long posts and ANY posts with pictures, please put behind a cut. If you don't know how to cut, ask me and I'll teach you; b)right now, this is an open-membership community, but if we have too many problems I'll close the membership.
