"Kelly" Part 13

It's with a sleepy smile that I realize this belated episode of "Kelly" is in fact Number 13. Kelly's apology on my behalf on Friday does not excuse tardiness and I humbly promise to work harder, until the tendons in my hands snap and my ligaments degrade and my heart bursts... for you.

Just joining us? You can catch up with "Kelly" here.

Each panel is steeped with hesitation and terror. Each episode eclipses the previous one. You have arrived, Gold Man!

Thanks, Papa Act-i-vate... I actually cut two really pretty panels from this before posting to make the tension tenser (I should really learn to do that BEFORE I finish the artwork). Always happy to rock your socks.

I am monkey-dancing as fast as I can these days; when things melllooooww I am really looking forward to spending more Carroll Gardens time at Studio A-I-V again. I miss the sexual tension between you and Fiffe.

Much appreciated. I've been TOTALLY FUCKING BORED of what passes for comic-book coloring, from the zipatone days up through the Photoshop Revolution of the present. It's like these kids never took their crayons and just SCRIBBLED before.

Anyhow, over here at ACT-I-VATE, we're trying to change all that. One week at a time.

Oh, I love your icon... is that my homeboy CUJONES???

"Bluh" is the sound fish intestines make when they are forced out their mouth.

The unfinished word you were waiting for was "door". Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

You can file that under "AWESOME SHIT" brother!

I love the artwork and the tension building up here is just... palpable.

Kelly's face is just so emotive, especially the earlier panel (Eat the fucking eucharist) and the close up of his mouth here.

Absolute GOLD!

Thanks so much for sharing Kelly and Max with us!

"Blocky"? They're nearly-square... since we're going to be heading into podcast territory soon, alot of us are formatting our work that way.

I've viewed this in IE, Firefox and Safari; maybe it's a setting on your browser?

Re: browser display. You must be using progressive scan on your JPEGs, and for some reason it took me a couple reloads to get the files all loaded this time (Safari). During the first partial load, certain panels stuck while still in low-res scans. I suspect that's what he saw.

Kelly sure is understanding! Was that a real Tetra Max stamped on?

I had a similar issue in Safari (I have officially left Firefox camp) but only on initial loads. All refreshes came through sexylicious every time. I'll look into the progressive scan thing and course-correct my Photoshop action. Thanks for the tippy.

And yes, the tetra was real. And Max's foot. And Kelly's swastika tattoo.

Ooooh... I shouldn't say that too loud. Max hasn't seen that yet.

p.s. MOCCA postcards are a really good idea.

There's a tiny room in the attic of my brain where "Kelly" is taking place, and the wallpaper is exactly like that too. Except it's peeling.

This is getting worse than the previews for "SEE WHATS ON NEXT WEEK!?" At least I can Tivo that shit. As i waited and waited, the network system just would not load Kelly fast enough. And I hear the clicking of the other nerds's keyboards in the computer worse than the pitter patter of my heart. Love the scenes. Can't wait to archive it for Naters later on.

It means alot to me that you're reading it, and spreading the filth. My dad reads "K" every week too.

I had dinner with Steve just now and we were wishing there were more "Thanksgiving" each year for us all to hang out at.

Naters will be able to read the whole thing someday in book format if all goes according to plan. This will all be collected so future generations can learn all about Max's struggles in the face of enemas.

Aw, Chip! Thank you... That means buckets coming from a talented young turk like yourself. Out of the dozen of us, you and I are the closest relatives in technique and style; I'm excited to see where this whole thing takes us.

Surely there is a magic land beyond the vale where we are worshipped and fed chilled grapes by ruddy-cheeked young boys and the electricity bills for our life support machines are paid for by the grandchildren of our combined adoring audiences.

And when that day comes, we'll look at each other teary-eyed and silently from across that hospital room, machines a-bleeping, and we'll know... we were there, together.
