no no, YOU'RE perfect... I was laughing out loud when I thought of that idea of him being rejected from Heaven for his racist t-shirt. Naturally, things aren't that one-note, as you'll see next week... but this whole experience slowly reveals more of what's inside our toothless old roomie's skull... and it shimmers.

I wouldn't have thought Theresa would have been able to break free of the Gowannajungdada to kibbitz like that. But then again, I'd not have thought Kelly would still be wearing his swastika shirt once he got to The Crystal River.

Ees verr sparrklee thees week... nice use of a clone tool.

It's not a clone tool; it's a brush w/layer effects.

Good insight re: Kelly's spell, but you're picking up on something that's coming down the line... Max's "scar" is up first.

I just read all of this whilst listening to My Chemical Romances "I'm Not Okay", which actually kind of put me in the right frame of mind...The K-Man has alot more going on than anyone thought...his sparkly soul was just fucking perfect, I could feel the WOOOSH as he soared higher.

Maybe it's the pot.

But this was one of the best rides ever.

And yeah, maybe it was the shirt.

I totally swam there once and I was like "Blech, this water tastes like babies!"

I then proceeded to swim with my mouth closed--like a normal person.

The lake effects were great. I'm glad for this bizzare turn.

Awwww... you are truly too kind.

If you're loving it that much, feel free to spread the word to friends and blogs... The more people talking about "KELLY", the easier it will be to get it into print the way I want it.

what was it singing? if it was me, it'd probably be 'waterloo' by abba. that's how i know something's going right, if that's playing over in my head.

and who is this mitz? he only pretends to be wonderful so people won't know he sells fresh kitten paws to tourists FOR FUN.

You'll be learning more about the River-Drops' song next week, so stick around.

But ABBA's "Waterloo"..? I'm more of a Kinks' "Waterloo Sunset" man myself.

Thank you! There's actually some heavy shit threaded into this section will come closer to the forefront during Act Three, particularly the concept of the Lattice. You'll see.

I'm excited to get back into Kelly's room and watch Max unravel next as the game continues...

Panel 3 is like the best composed and realized "ascension" shot I've ever seen. I looooovvvve smoke trails, and the sparkle trail is totally perfect.

I'm remembering a river image (and singing!) from "Cobra Trap," by Peter O'Donnell, and it makes me wonder: is the river a theme familiar to after-death conceptualizations, or near-death experiences, or is this a coinkidink...?

Hey, thanks so much! I was really struggling with the vibe/concept of this whole installment for a bit as I'd written it a while ago. Took me time to grok what I wanted Kelly's experience to look/feel like, and then how to actually create that imagery... The ascension image IS one of my favorite things I've drawn, and it reminds me of this artist my mom took me to the mall to meet when I was in high school, a cat who worked the artists-fair-mall-circuit in the late 80s named Lee Stone. I bought this Ascension print off him that I had in my room during high school (thanks Google!) that was certainly in my head while I was working on this chapter. This guy recommended me to buy my first set of Koh-I-Noor pens which I starting (of course) drawing fucking superheroes with... but there's a definite deep-synapse link between that Ascension image and my own beginnings as a more serious artist. Cheers for that memory-jog... I haven't thought about that in years.

The river image is common across many belief systems: Egyptian, Greek and especially Tibetan figure into the cosmology I am playing with in "KELLY"; I'm not familiar with Peter O'Donnell but I'm give him a search.

God, I wish... the drugs in NYC are CRAP.
There's got to be a correlation btw that and my being more productive here than in Miami though, no...?

I'm reliably informed by a former colleague who lives in the Orkney Isles (which is in the sea beyond the far north of Scotland) that the quality and quantity of drugs is way better there than in the cities. Then again, who needs drugs when we have your blasphemous art? :-) I need to see if this looks different after a couple of drams of Laphroig...

Theresa's a pain in the ass but I love her... she's too much fun to write! Have no fear, she's got plenty moments to shine yet... after all, she's after Max in this game with a surprise for everyone at home in Internetland.
