is this water color? it's freaking awesome.
good diologue too. i have a feeling that this comic is going to be better than die hard in all it's incarnations.

Thanks! It's done with ink and watered-down ink.

And yes, totally better than Die Hard!

That's the way to get a comic started.
Ink and watered-down ink? nice.

Bravo.

It feels like I'm watching a b/w version of one of those animated Richard Linklater films.

INTENSE. A stand out debut. These subtle and creepy images are seared unto my brain and it'll be years before I scrape the scabs off in order to live a normal life again.

How long is this OGN? Will every post be 10 pages? I hope so!

Also, I'm curious as to what materials you use.

It's 96 pages total. Not every scene will be this long, but there's a couple more like this!

Oh sorry, first thanks for the compliments! I pencil first, then lay down the blacks. I had a bottle of ink that was nearly empty and filled it with water and used that for the grey's. Fun, huh?

Nice opening scene to grab the attention, Rod and that artwork is gorgeous, mate, feels and looks like a cool B&W indy movie from the 70s.

Hey, only my girlfriend gets to call me 'Rod'! Thanks for the compliments. Visually, I was mostly inspired by late-period silent films, especially Greta Garbo's, as well as classic jazz photography. I loved how they used whites to define forms and break up the composition.

Yeah, nice start to a Comic Noir. I'll be reading, and I also love the wash. I wonder why noone did a comic adaptation if The Wash using wash?

I find it to move really quick, actually. I do minimal work in the pencil stage, only getting detailed for buildings and faces. Then I lay down the blacks, then follow up with the wash. From start to finish, it's about two to three hours per page, with most of the time spent on pencils. Unless it's a page with a lot of architecture, those take about an hour longer.

Awesome. Added!

I just updated from the site featured on Drawn! (if you saw me the first time or second time there, it linked to penguinx.org). I'm not updating that anymore.

Now everything is at Frenden.com.

Glad I ran into ya!

Yup: http://feeds.feedburner.com/RayFrendenIllustrator

I use Netvibes as a reader, so I can't comment on the Bloglines deal. Perhaps because I use feedburner for stat tracking? I dunno.
