This chapter goes out with love and admiration to Josh Dysart, who's just back from Uganda. You can check photos of his experience at his site; the first appearance of Kelly's power mask this week is another of many African threads in my life these days.

And since I've got you here: I'm at the San Diego Comic-Con next week (this is where you can find me); in addition to signing SHOOTING WAR teaser galleys, I'll be doing three live demos of the Cintiq at the Wacom booth... where I'll be talking about my process while drawing new "KELLY" live. Oh my GOD.

You know, I've long since learned to expect some sort of mind-fuck plot twist, or mind-blowing image, with every update, but I'm still surprised by every one. Which is why I'm completely addicted to this comic.

Of anything I might have guessed where this was going, I do not think in my stoniest moments I could have predicted this. The only imagery I can summon to express my delight all involve potentially biohazardous substances. I must instead point on the dolly where the big bad artist touched me: right on the GOWANNAJUNGDADA.
