Friend. At last, you have broken through every hindrance and attained buddhahood. This last panel should be up at Moma.

this set of panels are really gorgeous. Kelly in the doorway transformed from horrific nazi butt guy to buddha in PJs is fab.

i think i'm getting a bit of whiplash.

What type of person does that make me for my opinion of him doing a complete 180 once he pulled out the bong?

No... really.

Between the psychedelic weeping and the brilliant THERESA effect resonating throughout and the final naval rainbow, I think our poor lil' Max is going to find miraculous comfort in Kelly.

How? HOW DID YOU TWIST ME LIKE THAT?

"My dear boy, have you been crying? Not over the poop, I hope."

YOU HAVE WON AN INTERNETS. PLEASE REPORT TO CYBERSPACE TO CLAIM IT.

And man, that navel thing would freak Sara's shit out. She hates bellybuttons.

But...Kelly...apologizing?

What the fuck, yo?!

does this mean that all that's left at the end of the rainbow is some freak's bellybutton lint? that's post-postmodern, man...

Okay, the belly-button thing is just too awesome for words.

Man, I really hope you put this out in book form someday, because this shit is stunning.

I love the way everything's so not-quite-right, and how Kelly remains this bizarre, twisted freak who I want, paradoxically, to kick in the balls for being a skeevy asshole and give him a big hug for being this, like, Buddha of the Bong or something.

There are just too many elements of comicraft going into this to pull apart in one comment, so I'll simply say there is not a wasted symbol or emotional resonance anywhere in Kelly.

for some reason though, my favorite panel is panel 3
because of the tear going completly horizantal from his sitting up. very clever.

i put off reading this comic until it was 5 issues in so i wouldnt have to wait so long to get the gist. i thought it would be better.....but nooooo. now i spend all night anxiously waiting, hoping somehow a new issue will pop up. needless to say i am hooked, line and sinker.

one question tho': how do i achieve enough enlightenment to be able to pee rainbows from my belly hole? surely kelly will clue us in? hopefully it doesnt involve enemas...

The only tragic thing about a printed version of this series is that I'm pretty darned sure a lot of your colors are outside the gamut of process color.

Pity. But one of the benefits of online (RGB) comix I guess.

"KELLY" makes me happy like a rainbow, but Dan no pants while blogging is illegal in 28 states. Luckily you are not in one of them. But I hate the feeling of a draft while I type. I tie my knickers up tight.

Kelly has got it all. There is lots of story telling going on in these panels.

I am dying to know about Theresa. Kelly is really odd, but I think we are going to see a someone that everyone is going to love. (kinda of a pot smoking, granola eating, yoga doing Forest Gump).

finally got a chance to catch up with this epic tale. what i love about it, in addition to your revolutionary use of photo-collage-comix, is your expert storytelling. all to often, "underground" comix survive on pushing folks' buttons with graphic sex and/or scatological humor; you're actually creating characters who can surprise us. (oh, and plenty of graphic sex and scatological humor, too!) it's more than a "plot twist," what you're doing here is keeping us ambivalent, reminding us that human beings are wonderful, frustrating, and above all, contradictory. kudos!

It's like a trippy soap opera. It's ghastly in parts that almost turn you off but you get sucked in by the characters until, all of the sudden, it tugs and your heart strings and you can't break your relationship with it.

Good show, Goldman. I want to cry but the pictures are just too pretty to be clouded.
