About:

Acrophobia is a game of acronyms. In each round, an acronym is posted along with a theme. Players then submit a “solution” to the acronym. For example, if given the theme of “Commands” and the acronym FUB, possible solutions include File Under “Beige” or Filibuster Until Breakfast. Get the idea? Good. Join the community and come play!

General Rules

Only members of the community may play – so if you want to participate, join the community and then jump right in!

1. Each series will have a moderator, only one moderated game will go on at a time. The moderator has the discretion to adjust the timeframe in which people have to submit entries and vote. The current game (Season 14) is moderated by

junyr.

2. Currently, ACROs will appear at random times during the day and night to allow for people in all different timezones and Livejournal practices a chance to enter.

3. ACRO must be entered in the text entry poll box.

4. An ACRO must use all letters given, and only the letters given. ACROs that don’t fit the guidelines will not be posted for voting. For example, if the acronym is “FUB” and your entry is “Fill Up the Bucket”, your entry will not be posted for voting.

5. The first 15 submissions will be posted for voting in poll form. Once the voting poll is posted, no more submissions will be accepted. If fewer than 15 submissions are received within 24 hours, then whatever submissions have been received will be posted and no further submissions will be accepted.

6. All players whose ACRO is posted for voting must vote. NOTE: The moderator does not vote.

7. You may not vote for your own ACRO.

8. After 6 rounds, the top 5 players will be placed in the ACRO Final Showdown.

Season 14 Specific Rules

9. Game 14 will consist of 8 rounds, plus bonus rounds, as listed below. Rounds may be up to 2 times a week, so be sure to check back often!

10. Everybody who submits an eligible ACRO for voting will receive 1 point for participation.

11. All players whose ACRO is posted for voting will receive points equal to the number of votes they receive. The first, second, and third place ACROs will receive 5, 3, and 1 bonus points respectively.

12. 2 or 3 times during the season, bonus acros will be posted (and will be similar to speed rounds of season 13). The difference is that they will be attached to regular rounds. Bonus rounds receive 0 points for an accepted submission, 1 point per vote and 3, 2 and 1 point bonuses for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

13. Submissions will be given up to 48 hours, and voting up to 72. This may seem more than necessary, but we'll be keeping a pretty rigorous schedule of a round every 6 or 7 days.
