I thought maybe we should make a thread here to post all our photos to FIRST before making some huuuge photoposts on egl. This way we can find the best ones and not have too many repeats.

I personally didn't get to go to any panels (fuckin' sucked!) and the first two days I dressed up but didn't even get to meet people! Some people took photos though, so I'm waiting to find those. I WAS at the tea arty and my friend with a nice DSLR took photos, but I have to wait for them to drive back to New York before I get them. So tomorrow night I'll link to those.

So show us what you got!

also for the love of god if it makes someone look like ass and you have multiple shots of choose from, don't post them all. please. I don't post hideous photos of lolitas I know (like I will go through and edit them out haha) but it seems to happen a lot to some people.

i didn't get to make it to anything loli related this year. i'm very sorry for yelling at people outside the room around the end of the first Lolita Do's and Don'ts in the exhibit hall. (my panel was supposed to come right after, but we had a schedule change.) so, since i couldn't make it, please tell us about your experiences with the lolita panels and meetups. anything interesting you'd like to share, or good points that were made, or your favorite coordinate? thanks, everyone, and i hope you all had a great time!

Tea Party on the Grass, Finalized!

So Sunday afternoon it is. Because we want to finish this before the closing ceremony, we will meet in the main lobby of the convention center at 12:30. I do not yet know where we can sit, so I will scout for a location on Saturday. Therefore, please arrive promptly at 12:30 on Sunday so we can walk together to our tea party spot without forgetting anyone. Please dress up nicely; I understand some may be doing cosplay but let's try to stay as elegant as possible. As this will be a tea party, you will be responsible for your own 'food' food, e.g. sandwiches, chips, but I would like everyone to bring something to share such as tea cakes, cookies, and other sweets.

It will be during the tea party that artemiscangee will host the clothing swap/local sale. Please bring any items you are interested in trading or selling to other members. Please contact her for more information about the swap.

I would appreciate if people would volunteer to bring the following listed items, as there is no way for me to provide all the food to a large group of people! Please post your party number (so we don't forget anyone) and item(s). More than one person can bring a certain item, but lets try to balance it out; we don't want fourteen types of cookies and nothing to wash it down with!

Although I will not be present for the Gothic and Lolita fashion show (due to my evil job), I will be walking around all day Saturday with my dear friend kodonalatte. ACEN 2008 Detailed Information

Alright, everyone! The 2008 fashion show is confirmed for this Friday, May 16th 2008 from 7pm to 9pm in Main Programming Beta at the Sofitel.

I know that several of you are kind enough to volunteer your time as models for this fashion show. Again, I'd like to thank you. I really appreciate all the help that everyone has offered. I'm sure that together we can make this fashion show awesome!

To ensure that the fashion show can go off without a hitch, I need models to meet me outside of Main Programming Beta by NO LATER than 6pm on Friday. This will allow me time to assign final outfits to models and arrange the line-up. Please, please, please-please-please-please-please do not be tardy for this. In fact, if you can be early, I will be stationed in that area starting at 5pm. According to this ACEN schedule (05/12), 6pm - 7pm is set-up for the fashion show.

All models--please wear the following:

White or nude camisole top (with suitable bra underneath--that really should be common sense)
Bloomers or shorts, white or black. (Keep in mind that if you have interesting bloomers and we end up walking on an actual runway, the audience will be able to see them. Just a thought. Don't be bloomer-less.)
White or black knee-high socks, tights, OR nude nylons.
A petticoat--preferably WHITE. (If you only have black, that's alright, but please let me know when you arrive.)
White or black close-toed dress shoes. (In fact, you might want to bring one of each color. And if you own specifically lolita shoes, bring as many pair as you can.)
Definitely, definitely be wearing something else over all of this that you can change back into after the fashion show.
Please do not wear excessive jewelry--the chance that a ring slips off, an earring falls out, a bracelet gets caught, etc. while changing is very high. If you can't bear to be parted from something, I understand, but I am not responsible if it is troublesome.

To be properly prepared for the show, models should:

Be clean and well-groomed. Honestly, that should go without saying. However, please keep in mind that it will get quite warm walking in the fashion show and may cause some nervousness. It can't hurt to bring antiperspirant/deodorant with you.
Please wear makeup, but stay natural! You want to look pretty and fresh, but not overdone to avoid the makeup clashing with an outfit you will wear. I would recommend some kind of base and mascara at the very least because you WILL be photographed. The only exception to this rule: If you are wearing ONLY ONE OUTFIT that you will arrive in, PLEASE coordinate yourself to the utmost--makeup included.
STYLE YOUR HAIR! There's no need for anything outrageous or complicated, but a little effort goes a long way; this is not something you want to be doing last-minute.

Models may want to bring the following:

Your makeup and a hand mirror, for touch-ups between outfits.
Your antiperspirant/deodorant (as it's definitely not something you'd want to share)
A bottle of water
Please DO NOT bring any valuables! Although the changing area will be watched, that's no guarantee. If you don't feel comfortable leaving something in your hotel room or want pictures on your own camera, leave it with friends in the audience during the fashion show.

IF YOU ARE LENDING CLOTHING:

Make sure all items are clean and pressed
Bring an ***ITEMIZED LIST*** of your items to avoid any confusion!

OH god, this is so awful, but I completely forgot about buying red knee high socks or tights or whatever before now. I need them for an outfit. Does anyone going have any red socks or sale? It's for an outfit I'll probably wear saturday or late friday, so being able to meet up on friday or early saturday is a plus. I can't think of any place to get just simple red knee high socks in town D: and it's too late to order online and assure they'd get here in time. So, if you have anything, let me know! as long as they are red or red and white (or red and brown) they should work off brand is fine. I have larger calves so I guess that should be taken into consideration

Since there are many who have expressed interest in a swap meet why don't we figure out a time when most people can make it to the meet as an official post? Also post with what you can bring or what you are looking for so that people can get an idea.

I was thinking sometime on Saturday would be a good time to do something like this as the most people will be there on Saturday (usually) Or we could combine the Swap-meet with the tea party if alicesyndrome would be ok with that!

Hello!

I have been thinking about how fun it would be to have an official ACen Lolita tea party sometime Saturday or Sunday. I know that there are rules prohibiting food and drink inside convention rooms, but if I remember correctly there are several grassy spots around the hotel that we could perhaps throw some blankets on and have a grand old time. This is, of course, weather permitting, and I don't know of a bad weather alternative (hinthint).

As long as everyone brought something like tea or cakes it would be a great chance to socialize. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas I would love to hear them! Also give times that would be best for this kind of event. Thanks all!

EDIT: Wow, lots of enthusiasm!! So far there are a few comments wanting Sunday after the fashion show and that seems to be a great idea. We can divvy up things to bring and double-extra check to make sure every thing is covered. I did a google earth check and found that there are several green spaces outside the convention we could easily use. Also,liddell_rawkssuggested going out to eat instead, which might be a great alternative depending on weather or what the group wants to do.

Informal meet ups?

I know that there are I think two lolita panels and one fashion show being planned, but are there any informal meet ups? meet and greets? I'd like nothing more than to spend my first con (this one lol) in nothing but lolita and around other lolitas. But I only know two that will be there, so I'd like to be able to meet some (preferably near the beginning of the con) so I won't just be hollering at people in recognizable clothes to get their attention.

I've never been to this con before, so I'm not really sure WHERE would be a good place, so I'm hoping someone more experienced will pop up to help with this :)

e: also, are there any organized times/places for photos? I'm going to be in anywhere from 3-5 different outfits, and I'd like at least some of them on film :3

also: tips for con noobs appreciated. I don't really like anime much, past girly girly shit, so I'm IN IT FOR TEH LOLIS (and the japanese hardcore music lol)

ACEN Fashion Show Update

Thank you, everyone, for your patience. I've been going through my information so that I can give an accurate update on this fashion show.

As of this moment, I still do not know the date of the show. I will inquire about the date, time, and facilities for the fashion show. I specifically requested that there be some kind of dressing area and want to confirm that it will, indeed exist.

Thanks to the generous efforts of everyone who volunteered to be a part of this effort, we should be able to pull off the show quite well. Unfortunately, I do not think we will be able to accurately represent much in the way of Japanese gothic. Below, I have detailed the gaps that currently exist in an optimum presentation of the show. I know that I do not have the most up-to-date clothing information from models and donators, so if you can help me fill in these gaps, please let me know!

Metamorphose
A delicate ivory headpiece or one of the tiaras.

Innocent World
Any blouses!
Any socks
We could probably use other items from this brand, as well. We don't have as much of it.

Victorian Maiden

This brand is in short supply. Anything would be helpful, although we could REALLY use blouses.

Moi-meme-Moitie
There is a moderate amount of this brand available, but if there are any people who own full Moitie coordinates and would be willing to walk for just that section, it would be EXTREMELY helpful.

There is also a lack of Putumayo, Atelier BOZ, Mary Magdalene, and Juliette et Justine. To my knowledge, there is nothing along the lines of Mary Magdalene and Juliette et Justine available, as some of these were to be provided by Mistress M, who sadly lost much of her clothing during her move back to the states.

Anything Japanese gothic would be useful! There seems to be plenty of h.NAOTO, but nothing else along that vein.

We don't need any more models unless they can provide a full outfit in one of the needed brands or the category of Japanese gothic. However, if you own, say, a full Mary Magdalene outfit and would be willing to model it, we would be honored.

ACEN 2008 Fashion Show UPDATE!!

Hello everyone! The fashion show is still a GO (although the date has yet to be revealed to me) and I am getting things organized. I really appreciate all of the help that everyone has extended to me, either in the form of offers of clothing, models, or advice.

At this point I am still finalizing details, but I will be making a formal announcement about the fashion show status and details on SUNDAY, MAY 4th 2008. I know I have not given any other updates, but I am currently extremely busy with my spring semester coming to a close and various personal/familial issues. I will not be available until May 4th due to final exams.

ACen 2008 Fashion Show is Go!

The Chicago lolita (hellowonderland, miyu_sakura, dykestar, industrialkitty, pierrotseven, and danaeaphreal) will be collectively hosting a gothic & lolita fashion show for ACen 2008 (May 16-18). We would like to have a show arranged not by sub-type, but by fashion brands.

We are currently looking for models and clothing to make this fashion show a success. Please let me know if you are interested in modeling and/or have clothing to volunteer.

Brands that are in short supply are darker and classic lolita, as well as gothic and punk brands. I don't think we'll be able to have a variety of every brand, but I would like to collectively try. So if you were planning on attending ACen 2008 and needed an excuse to spend money--here is one~ :D

ACEN Gothic and Lolita Fashion Show Dress Rehearsal and Pizza Party!

Hello and congratulations on being chosen to model in the 2007 ACEN Gothic and Lolita Fashion Show! This is ACEN's 10 year anniversary and so we'd like to make this fashion show the best it's ever seen! In order to make that happen, we need to see you, our models, so that we can put together the styles you will be showing off and make sure everyone is on the same page as to how our runway show will work. To that end, we are having a dress rehearsal at 1 PM on Saturday, April 28th at my (K-Chan's) house. This dress rehearsal is mandatory* because we will definitely need to see all of you together in order to run through the show at least once. But, on the bright side, it will also be a pizza party, a fun bunch of dressing up in gothic and lolita fashions, and a chance for all you models to meet!

Here's what you should bring:

1) Any and all Lolita (or aristocrat/pirate/etc.) fashions you have.

2) A white and black blouse.

3) Foundation that matches your skin tone, your own tube of mascara, and your own comb and brush.

4) Any appropriate shoes in your size (any black or white mary janes, Victorian style boots, or styles of shoe specifically for lolita fashion such as rocking horse shoes should work).

5) Any lolita underclothes you may already have, such as petticoats, bloomers, a pair of white tights, a pair of black tights, etc.

6) (optional) If you are uncomfortable changing in front of others, please wear an undershirt or tank top and a pair of workout shorts or boxers. Lolita fashion has a lot of layers, so these items should be easy to cover up.

7) An appetite! There will be pizza (like I said), soda, and lots of snacks J

By the way, don't freak out if you don't have some of these items and please don't feel like you have to buy anything! Just bring what you can and we'll take care of the rest. The most important thing we need to see is YOU so that we can sort you into the styles you'll be modeling and pick out the looks that work with you best. Also, it will help us (your tireless organizers) to see what we are missing and need to borrow or create before the show.

ACEN 2007 Gothic and Lolita Fashion Show Organizers

*PS: When we say the rehearsal is "mandatory" we mean "please make every attempt to be there" but of course if you can't make it because your sister is getting married or your boss is a total jerkface who refuses to let you have the afternoon off you won't be kicked out of the fashion show. Just let us know and we can arrange something else. But please, if it is at all possible for you to make all or even part of the rehearsal, do so! Thanks again!

Lolita Weekend Get Away For Midwest Lolitas!

A few weeks ago I suggested that we try to make a weekend getaway one of the chigothloli events. After some research, I believe I have found a perfect place with reasonable rates for the event!

The Victorian Rose Inn, located in Barrington, IL is a very lovely place that offers finely furnished rooms at an elegant home on a quiet street. I spoke with the owner who is a sweet woman that converted her home to a bed and breakfast after her children left for college. The home is near a park, bike trail, and within walking distance of resturants and shopping. The home has cable and wireless internet included with any stay as well as parking and refreshments.

To rent out the entire bed and breakfast for a day costs $480, including taxes and breakfast. The home can accomodate 12 guests total, which means that for a weekend the entire stay would cost $80.

To some of the younger Lolitas this might seem pretty hefty, but it's actually quite reasonable considering what the home looks like and the fact that it includes breakfast and a nice room for an entire weekend. The owner also says that she can do afternoon tea for additional fee, and we are allowed to bring pre-prepared foods and snacks although she does not encourage extensive cooking at the house. And there are resturants nearby and so forth.

The only catch is that she's a bit old fashioned so she would prefer to accomodate women-only if there is going to be room-sharing. I haven't asked her policy on couples but the implication is that she would rather have couples rent their own rooms. Basically she's just somewhat modest and that makes sense anyway for a Lolita weekend. ~_~

There is a train to Algonquin that goes direct from the city, and cab fare to the house is $16, but if we coordinate to take cabs together it should total about $5/each. So about $10-$20 for transport, unless you are planning to drive.

Total cost for event: $90-$100 for transport and stay.

I really think this would be a lot of fun. The best sleepover EVER!!! We could do all sorts of parlor games, photoshoots, movie watching, just kickin' it and enjoying a Lolita lifestyle.

I mentioned this earlier in chigothloli and was totally unsuccessful. Maybe more details will help.

For those of you who live in the Chicago area, I have a Gothic & Lolita panel taking place some time on Saturday, October 21 at Reactor. I NEED MODELS. What's a gothloli event without pretty lolies to take pictures of??

Well first of all, it is sort of a combined Visual-kei panel as well, but I don't really need any Visual models. (If you want to, just follow the guidelines further down.) I know some of you really hate VK, but tough.

.♥. The panel is in two parts. The first part is an informative speech type thing about the brief histories of GL and VK and where in time they meet, and then a segment about Lolitas in Japan (courtesy of wildroselolita). The second is a photoshoot or mini fashion show. I need about 8-12 models to illustrate the following styles:

2 Gothic Lolitas
2 Sweet Lolitas
2 Classic Lolitas
2 Punk Lolitas
2 Ouji, or 1 Kodona and 1 Ouji

At the moment, I will probably be in some kind of Aristocrat style, and wildroselolita will probably be Sweet or Classic loli.

.♥. In the event that not all the above positions are taken, I'm also considering other forms of Lolita/Madam/Aristocrat. But the point is, I want pairs to do the walk together, so they have to match, and I also prefer to have more than one representative of each style.

.♥. At this point in time I prefer the clothing to be brand-name.
