ACCIO SORTING HAT IS NO LONGER AN ACTIVE COMMUNITY. PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN APPLICATIONS BECAUSE THE COMMUNITY IS CLOSED.

ACCIO Sorting Hat (ASH) is a sorting community based on the magical world created by JK Rowling. This is the main community, where LJers get sorted and become members, then go on to participate in the active life of our sub-comms, House Cup competitions, inter-house socializing, Quidditch, and dozens more! The mission here at ASH is:

Please keep in mind that ACCIO is a brand new community. There are going to be kinks here and there, but will be smoothed out as they arise.

1.) If you have a problem with another member contact your Head Girl or Head Boy and it will be dealt with. If the Head Girl or Boy is the problem, then take your complaint directly to one of the Four Founders.

2.) It is not hard to say DON'T BASH OTHER HOUSES. We ask that you be respectful and keep housebashing to an absolute MINIMUM. Constant "Stupid Hufflepuff" or "Mean Slytherin" comments and the like will be dealt with by the Headmistress. Respect the other members. Respect others' opinions/views/beliefs. Treat them the way you would like to be treated.

3.) Please post all spoilers behind an LJ-CUT. If you do not know how to do an LJ-CUT read the LiveJournal FAQ. Spoilers include: pictures from HP movies that have yet to be released, anything to do with the movie until after it has been out on DVD/video for at least 3 months, information about book 7 or any of the upcoming movies, and large pictures.

4.) Obey LJ terms of service. Follow all LiveJournal Rules. Meaning, if you are under 13 you should not be on LiveJournal to begin with so do not even bother applying here.

5.) No community advertising. We say this because there are communities out there in LiveJournal land specifically for community advertisement. If someone wants a specific type of community they will search for it. We do not want you advertising here. Please and thank you. Banning will result in the breaking of this rule.

6.) BE NICE! This community is all about unity, having fun, being who you are, and saying what you think. However, there is a difference between debating a topic and being rude to others concerning their opinion. Remember, everyone has a right to their ideas and though you may disagree it does not give you the right to put them down. Any issues you may have with members or new applicants should be directed to one of the Four Founders.

7.) We ask that your journal be one month old before applying. This can be overridden by the Headmistress, but it will not happen often. If you wish to contact the Headmistress about this please email her at the_birth_of_venus@hotmail.com and put "NEW ACCIO APPLICANT" in the subject line.

8.) Most importantly, have fun! There are plenty of things to do here at ACCIO and we just want everyone to enjoy themselves. We are a pretty outgoing community and we thrive on getting to know each other over our common bond of Harry Potter, and continuing to make new friendships as we discover other common interests.

9.) Last but certainly not least, although we are a very open community, since our rules are rather minute, we ask that to show us you have read them before applying. Please include the following information at the end of your application.

APPLICATION RULES
1.) Please do NOT use netspeak. Do NOT abbrieviate (unless referring to one of the HP titles COS, SS/PS , POA, GOF, OOTP ,or HBP).

2.) Please spell check your application before applying. It is common courtesy. Also, check the HTML of your application before submitting. If the HTML is messed up your application WILL NOT be accepted or posted. Instead, it will be rejected and you will be asked to fix it then re-submit. 3.) 3 to 4 sentence answers MINIMUM, please. We would like in-depth answers if possible but at least 3 to 4 sentences minimum is asked. However, remember that elaboration makes voting on your application much easier so the more you can include the better. If you can't that is not a crime. As long as you meet the minimum you'll be just fine!

4.) Do NOT house bash! In your application we ask that you not put down any particular house in hopes of not getting voted there.

5.) Do NOT push for a certain house. Applications reading "I think I am so brave and so courageous and so much like a lion, and I'm not very sneaky so I know I'm nothing like a snake" would be an obvious push for Gryffindor and will lead you to being Muggled. Do NOT do this.

6.) You are allowed to reply to vote comments. If you do not understand why a member voted a certain way you are completely allowed to reply and ask, as long as you can be mature and polite about it.

7.) The Headmistress, Deputy Headmistress and Assistant Mistresses are the ONLY people who stamp at ANY of the sub-communities currently. This may change as the community becomes more popular.

8.) Finally, as a side note, members who are waiting to be sorted in the main sorting community ARE NOT allowed to vote on other applications. This rule has changed as more members have filled this community. You must be a sorted member of ACCIO to vote on applications!

9.) Please remember on your application that ALL information should be under an LJ cut. This includes your name, your age and your referral, if you have one
VOTING RULES
1.) Members: include your vote in the subject line. Sigtags are optional. In the case you do not have a sigtag in your vote then you MUST bold your name and house in the comment so we know where to award the points.

2.) We have Squib and Muggle votes. They should be used as follows:

Squib = Your answers were less than 3 to 4 sentences per question. You did not obey the rules for applying. However, you seem fairly genuine and may simply need another chance to improve. You may re-apply in ONE WEEK. If you are squibbed please reapply in 7 days with the words "Reapplying after a squibbing!" in your subject line.

Muggle= If you are muggled do not bother applying again. You have disregarded the rules and were rude to members of this community. You are no longer welcome in this community.
Members should note, Muggle votes are used only in MAJOR instances of house pushing, ignorance towards members about their vote, and all around worthlessness of the application. Plus obviousness of ignoring the rules. You need more than just an "I don't like this person, or their icon, or their opinion" to Muggle them. Keep this in mind when voting. Squib voting is more or less their application didn't follow the rules well, but they were not pushy or rude and simply should try again.
