AboutThis is a community where people can come to speak freely about subjects that relate to the area of academics. In recent times, being an academic has become increasingly difficult. With funding cuts, decreasing number of positions avalible in universities, difficulty in transfering skills from PhD into other jobs, applying to jobs, and poor post-doctoral and graduate student working and living conditions. Therefore i've decided to create a community to discuss these subjects, including any and everything related to the topic of being an academic. This will, I hope, become useful resource centre for people to discuss things they have learned which may potentially help other members of the forum.
Rules
1) Any questions, observations, stories, links, news, and the like related to Academics can all be addressed here.
2) Please acknowledge any sources for articles.
3) Please try and remain on-topic. This is NOT a forum for discussing the latest football results etc.
4) I will act as a mod. if and when needed, but will try and keep a free hand as much as possible. If something offensive (racist,sexual harrasement, sexist etc) is posted constantly, I will delete and block the member from the forum.
5) If anyone has any problems, suggestions etc. please either leave me a message on the group, or email me.
