holomkova@yahoo.com AboutThis community is not just for women, not just for heterosexuals, and not just for people who become parents, guardians, big sisters/brothers, etc. through the most common means. That said, it stems in large part from the dissatisfaction of women in academia who've been subjected to some version of the following message: "Be grateful to your feminist predecessors because you can choose to have a career. Now don't jeopardize it by trying to have a family, too." Is this a true choice, then? Yes and no. This community is for anyone who believes we can be good scholars and teachers while at the same time caring for our family members and friends.
