Wii System Update 4.1

  • Jul. 16th, 2009 at 6:00 PM
Sorry for another hacking question!

I don't hack my game very much at all, other than just using ACToolkit to restore my town's grass. I got a message in my Wii from Nintendo informing me of the System Update 4.1 and it said, "Because unauthorized modifications to save files may impair game play or the Wii console, updating to Wii Menu version 4.1 will also check for and automatically remove such save files." I googled the update along with Animal Crossing and, I haven't come across much, but I did come across a Nintendolife thread http://www.nintendolife.com/forums/wii/wii_system_update_41 saying Homebrew won't be affected.. Though, I'm not sure if that covers my ACCF save file. Can somebody please let me know if this update will delete my ACCF file? Thanks in advance :)

Dimentio Mask?

  • Jul. 14th, 2009 at 3:09 PM
I know this was in a previous post, but this seems to be more of a problem!

I walked into the Able Sisters' today and there was a Dimentio Mask for sale in there. :| There was a post here that somebody else had written not too long ago asking why their neighbor had given them the Dimentio Mask as a reward for doing an errand or something. What in the world is this? D: I didn't have any data on the Dimentio Mask until I saw it in the store today. Is it circulating around like a normal item or is it really just because someone else I've played with had the data on it?

Thanks in advance for your help :>

New Japanese DLC! - Asagao (Morning Glory)

  • Jul. 7th, 2009 at 7:43 PM
Official Website

The lovely folks in Japan have another DLC. It's a flower pot with little blue flowers. It's named Asagoa or Morning Glory in English.

ETA - It ships out between July 20th and August 13th 2009.

Game Reset

  • Jul. 7th, 2009 at 2:16 AM
Are there any confirmed side effects of using the game reset function multiple times in a row? My neighbor houses suck badly and I keep resetting in hopes that the housing style will look better. I keep switching between the rebuild town setting or just hitting reset with the wii remote. I just can't stand Rover and listening to him makes me annoyed borderline angry.

posted this in [info]accf_wii_adult too.

Next NA DLC hint

  • Jul. 6th, 2009 at 12:13 PM

Hinted on Nintendo's North American Animal Crossing website: "The next scheduled delivery celebrates one small step!"

ACCF Wikispaces suggests it might be a reference to the Apollo 11 moon landing on July 20th, 1969 and Neil Armstrong's famous quote: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind".

So, what are your guesses: Pattern? Item? Footprint? US flag?

Nintendo On The Ladder Shades

  • Jul. 4th, 2009 at 4:31 PM
This is the (maybe) official word from Nintendo that is floating around about the ladder shades.

Hello,

Unfortunately, there was a problem with the Ladder Shades letter which prevented it from being distributed to Animal Crossing: City Folk players. We apologize for any frustration this matter may have caused you.

Please note that the next special item will start going out on Saturday, July 4th. We’re currently evaluating our release schedule to see if we’ll have another opportunity to offer the Ladder Shades sometime in the future. I’ll be sure to pass along your interest in this item on to the appropriate department for further review. In the meantime, keep an eye on our Animal Crossing website (www.animal-crossing.com) for any updated information as it becomes available.

Sincerely,

R.M. Ricketts

Euorpe and North American DLC updates

  • Jul. 4th, 2009 at 9:23 AM

You lucky Europeans got a sandcastle between June 21st and July 3rd!

Those of us on the Western side of the Atlantic should be receiving a hot dog hat starting on the 4th of July.

Has anyone received the June 23rd to 30th DLC, ladder shades? From what I understand, this one for whatever reason wasn't distributed. Unfortunately the time is over for this distribution window. Perhaps it will be re-distributed at some point later?

So, a tarantula was spotted last night while my boyfriend was playing. We both about lost our minds with excitement, but unfortunately, when he went to go catch it, he got bitten and passed out.

Does anyone have a strategy on how to catch bugs that bite?

Difficulty of bug catching in CityFolk

  • Jun. 26th, 2009 at 1:10 PM

June brought to Mirage a bunch of new bugs to catch. Being primarily used to the GameCube version of Animal Crossing, it seems like bugs are so much more difficult to catch in City Folk. Aside from the white and yellow butterflies, nearly every other bug is out only extremely rarely, and unless you tip-toe through town you risk spooking away the bug before you can even see it on the tree. Is this unique to Mirage, or has anyone else noticed the increased difficulty in catching bugs?

Also, I have a theory that walking on dry ground (i.e. not-grass) scares away the bugs from a far greater distance than when you walk on grass. Kind of like the bugs can hear you coming from your footfalls. If this is the case, then this is another detriment to the grass-wearing-down mechanic in City Folk. What do you think?

And one more thing - has anyone seen a Longhorn Beetle in June? According to the guide they are out, but they have not been spotted in Mirage yet!

Father's Day Issues

  • Jun. 23rd, 2009 at 10:17 AM
Well -- Sunday morning (Father's Day) arrived and I couldn't have been happier to have received the letter from Dad with the attached Red Carnations. I had my kids (all 3 of them) go on and check their mail.
My oldest got his carnations.
My two younger kids did not.
We all received the pink carnations on Mother's Day and were hoping to hybridize.
Now -- I have two irritated children and no clue as to what's going on.

Does anyone know if this if this normal or is it a glitch?

So I finally bit the bullet and got my own Wii. I've been using my roommates (which is in our living room) for the past year but I've decided to move out at the end of our lease and that means no more Wii for me unless I get one. Which means...a whole new Animal Crossing town! Right? Because I can't just somehow move my old one over to this machine? I'm actually kind of excited about it; I was too chicken to make a new town layout or start over on the old Wii but I figured now I can get the exact town layout I want, and once I have that all settled I'll just visit the old town or mail my new town all my cool stuff or whatever. Unless there is an easier way to do that as well, but I don't think there is. I don't have a DS.

North American DLC for Mid-June

  • Jun. 13th, 2009 at 3:17 PM

Thanks to [info]zombiejanedoe for letting us all know about the June DLC for North America - a Mayor pattern from Wendell. I haven't found the distribution dates for this item yet, so load up your town each day and see when yours arrives!

(I also can't find any pictures of this item, so if anyone can share a screenshot, it would be much appreciated!)

This Morning..

  • Jun. 13th, 2009 at 4:39 PM
Wendell was waiting for me outside of my house and gave me a pattern of the mayor. I don't remember hearing about a North American DLC release. Did anyone else get a visit from him?

Fashion Forward Clothing Request.

  • Jun. 13th, 2009 at 12:57 PM
Hello,

A frog in my town requested I find her something "fashion forward". I tried getting her a shirt from the current GracieGrace collection, and it didn't work. So I tried to order her in a Future shirt, and that didn't work. Then I tried random stuff and it didn't work.

What is "Fashion Forward" that I can give her?

My town! My beautiful town!

  • Jun. 12th, 2009 at 7:09 AM
I was trying to make up some days I'd missed from a while back, but when I hurtled forward in time, I idiotically forgot what it would do to my flowers. Even though I reset and didn't save, it didn't make a difference - the majority of the flowers in my town are gone.

(I don't get why Resetti throws such a spaz if resetting doesn't even RESET you to where you were at your last save! Argh.)

Anyway, if anyone has hybrid or gold flowers for sale, I'll pay anything you want for them. I just want my beautiful town back!

Japanese DLC for June 15 through July 5th

  • Jun. 11th, 2009 at 12:32 PM

The next DLC up for Japan is a Paper Doll umbrella.

The design is based off a traditional Japanese doll called the "Teru teru bōzu" (てるてる坊主). This doll is hung outside and is used to wish for sunny weather.

There is a nursery rhyme associated with the てるてる坊主:

てるてるぼうず、てるぼうず
明日天気にしておくれ
いつかの夢の空のように
晴れたら金の鈴あげよ

てるてるぼうず、てるぼうず
明日天気にしておくれ
私の願いを聞いたなら
甘いお酒をたんと飲ましょ

てるてるぼうず、てるぼうず
明日天気にしておくれ
もしも曇って泣いてたら
そなたの首をちょんと切るぞ

Translation:

Teru-teru-bozu, teru bozu
Do make tomorrow a sunny day
Like the sky in a dream sometime
If it's sunny I'll give you a golden bell

Teru-teru-bozu, teru bozu
Do make tomorrow a sunny day
If you make my wish come true
We'll drink lots of sweet rice wine

Teru-teru-bozu, teru bozu
Do make tomorrow a sunny day
But if it's cloudy and you are crying (i.e. it's raining)
Then I shall snip your head off

It will be distributed in Japan from the 15th of June to 5th of July, 2009.

Walking on paths

  • Jun. 5th, 2009 at 1:13 PM
I notice bits of brown on the edges of mine...does running on the path hurt the grass beneath?
When I pull it up, will I have a nice dirt path or will the grass still look new?

I'd thought about pulling up most of mine when/if I get the gold can...but not if it's going to look bad. Anyone have any experience with this?
