I think I’ve been trying to write this…for months. Ever since last summer, probably. I blame this entirely on the difficulty of pinning Naru’s voice with my style, as the two aren’t really compatible. 8D

Either way I definitely rushed this for the theme, so I feel like chunks are missing here and there – these sorts of fics usually need a lot of time to develop. Buuuut if all things go to plan I’ll write a multipart that comes after this, so…we’ll see.

I’m a bit brain dead and hanging out with crazy people right now so I can’t really think of a decent author’s note but uhm hm. I meant for it to be more Shirou/Rin than it turned out to be, but hey pairings whatever, so yeah. Why isn’t Shirou/Rin more popular? Or am I just looking in all the wrong places?

Another update so soon? Don't worry, it'll never happen again. Luckily for you guys. 8D And phew...seven months, and this is finally done, done, done. Yeah, so maybe I 1) love Elincia too much and 2) twist the characters into probably angsty, canon-defying versions in my head. My head’s funny like that. And I kinda like my pairings to happen one way or another. 8D

And in the meantime: holy damn, planning so many multiparts. 8D I'll just make it a promise right now: the Ghost Hunt one will be written once I get that last piece of research, and the Gundam S/D one is looking to be highly likely. (There, Rae. -_-)

Length: a billion approx. 7,339 words, technically a one-shot, also technically part 2 of 3. This could be considered the second part of a trilogy – Princesses aren’t supposed to love mercenaries technically fits as the beginning, seeing as my extrapolation didn’t really break FE10 canon. The end of it just overlaps with the beginning of this one.
Character/Pairing: Elincia-centric, hints of Ike/Elincia and kinda sorta Geoffrey/Elincia, appearances of Lucia, Ludveck, and really just everyone from Part II
Warnings: Major borrowing of game script sections, and spoilers for all of FE10 Part II and the bare beginning of Part III.
Summary: There is no such thing as a naïve ruler, no matter how she seems; never once was she unaware of how it all came crashing down.

( This is not their happily ever after. This is not the epilogue after winning the war and saving the realm. )

I believe this fic was a seven-month odyssey that I kept adding to and subtracting from before I finally got the game script in its entirety to the end of Part II and finalized this entire thing.

I admit, I’m not wholly happy. My writing style had been shaken by the roots in the middle of these seven months, so I feel like there’s a mix in this that I wish wasn’t there. But ah well. And yes, there will be one final story in this trilogy of sorts that starts somewhere in Part III/IV and ends after the epilogue. It will be Ike/Elincia with some Geoffrey/Elincia. It will probably be more Ike-centric, but through Elincia’s eyes. This time, I’m going to keep out as much of the game script as I can. Just a heads up about that.

I can be spared the grammar-related lectures (ahaha…I guess I don’t like rules, what can I say?), but comments and critiques are adored and loved. :) And a major, major thanks to Rae for sitting through the entire thing and dealing patiently with my laments and getting brain breakage from this.

First of all, for those who know me: Holy, not many parenthesis, not present tense! Yeah, uhm, pretty much. It’s the first time in a long time that I’ve gone and written something…vaguely normal. Ish. Yeah. Warmup for the larger multipart project, I guess. This was a bit difficult, since writing Yin is a long struggle, especially since post-series gives her character room to change and evolve, but then it’s hard to gauge how much is too much. Frgh.

When I realized that all the themes this month were from, well, Marlowe, yeah. But then I picked a line or two, and out came this. Amazing what a deadline does for a muse.

I…sort of rushed this, because I have massive papers due that I should be revising and. Stuff. I’m surprised that I wrote a Heath/Priscilla, really, because Kent/Lyn’s more my calling and I haven’t tried that yet. But hey, always another freer month. So I'm not exactly happy with this because I wish I had another day, but oh well. I can edit later.
