What do you like about Hawai'i? I love the aloha spirit

What do you dislike about Hawai'i? too far away for "quick trips" to the mainland.

All that said, I am considering a move to Maui for a while to test out the theory that I belong in a tropical, history filled mecca of beauty.
How do you feel about mainlanders moving to the islands? Is it easy to find jobs and housing? I'm used to the utter expense, I live in one of the most expensive cities in the USA.
