When looking tonight for more information on Animal's passing, I found his obituary which was apparently published yesterday. He will be missed.

Kae-Barb just informed me that Greg "Animal" Nowak has passed away. If you've ever been to a Congenial, you knew him. He was always there, always willing to help and always a good friend.
As more information is made available, I will be posting follow-ups.
*sigh*

Steve posted this today. http://skzbrust.livejournal.com/36054.h tml
Last night LJ ate his initial attempt.
Am plying him with chicken noodle soup and Robitussins. Steve made happy noises about the weekend.
I had fun... I have a weird medley of unmatched music floating in the background soundtrack of my brain. :D Thanks for everyone's patience when I burbled at great length!

Since I haven't been to Congenial before, I wanted to ask...
We mean to bring some copies of Steven Brust's solo album, "A Rose for Iconoclastes." Would 10 be too few or 20 too many?
Thanks.

[Edited to add: CDs for sale.]

This is your one week warning!
Adult Swim!: The hotel has confirmed that we will have exlusive use of the pool from midnight to 2am on Saturday (that being until 2am Sunday morning). Plan accordingly!
Pre-registration for Congenial closed March 17, 2007. At the door memberships will be available for $50 per person, with day rates available for Friday and Saturday only.
The hotel room block is closed! Remember how we said the room block would close March 8, 2007? Well, it did. If you still have not reserved your room, hop over to the hotel page for more information. But don't say we didn't warn you!

Thank you,
rennie_frog for the time and effort you've put into the Congenial consuite in the past.
Everybody else. Please be reassured that there are ongoing plans for the consuite this year. Yes, help is always appreciated. Congenial has for many years, if not always, been a "some assembly required" convention. The many attendees have contributed in different ways, and will continue to do so.
We will undoubtedly be asking for assistance keeping snacks, sodas, and whatnot stocked, as well as keeping the consuite clean and in good condition. I'm sure that the members of the con will offer the same participation and assistance that I have always witnessed.

I'm resigning from Congenial.
There's been a long history of interpersonal conflict for me at Congenial, and I've often felt tremendously overworked, and then unappreciated.
Due to the enormous amount of stress I'm under and the commitments on my time (moving my mother, packing up for the end of my lease) I can't do everything. Something had to give. It will be Congenial, the commitment that has the least return on my effort.

The Congenial Room Block Closes on 8 March 2007!
That is a week away for those folks playing along at home.
The hotel would really like us to break with tradition this year and not all attempt to make our reservations within the last twelve hours of the room block being open. For those of you who have already made your reservations, my thanks.
For the rest of you: http://www.congenial.org/hotel.php
See you in less than a month!

Yes, I am very very late posting this. My apologies.
We will be collecting at Congenial for People's Resource Center. Please, if you have them, bring non-parishable food items that are in code and not leaking, dented, rusted, or otherwise comprimised. This just wastes their time. Also keep in mind that personal items (such as soap or shampoo) are in short supply and they have very few contributions of it. Diapers are especially in demand. They also have a small clothes closet, please only bring in season, clean, serviceable clothes, or 'like new' linnens or blankets. They also can use computer parts to build computers, and here's the important bit. THEY NEED MOUSEPADS. We have tons of them. The run down of the computer parts they need is as follows:
Personal computers with a minimum of:
Windows-compatible 333 MHz processor or faster (This is the only real requirement. The rest is desirable.)
128 Mbytes of volatile memory (RAM)
4 Gbyte hard drive or larger
CD-ROM drive
Modem - 56K
10/100 Ethernet Adapter
CD-ROM drives 16X or faster
HP Ink jet printers
Switches/routers to network the sites.
Note, that ink cartridges are quite welcome as well. Monitors that are at least super VGA are also welcome. I will hopefully be collecting and organizing this, but be aware that I would be most pleased if it were already sacked or boxed up for me to make it easier!

So, why does a relaxicon suddenly have a schedule of events? Because some of our talented musicians wanted one this year, and we try to oblige such requests.
An hour with Tom Lehrer (Governor Suite) Friday: 10pm
We all pretty much know them, but we've actually got them written down! We'll bring the songbook, you provide the noise!
Minstrosity At Random (Con Suite) Saturday: 2pm
Yeah we hate making up set lists too! Bring your percentile dice (or use ours) and we'll see what happens.
Sing Circle (Governor Suite) Saturday: 9pm
Hosted by John Wiseman. Play, Pick or Pass. Yes, we may even make YOU sing. Or something....
Naughty Song Circle (Governor Suite) Saturday: 11pm
Hosted by Wendy Lady. We're all grownups here, so why not? Let's drag out the dirty, the dingy, and the downright rude ones!
Adult Swim (Swimming Pool)
We have arranged for private time in the pool and hot-tub between 12am and 2am Sunday morning for Adult Swim.
You must be 21 or older to attend.
Minstrosity At Random (Governor Suite) Sunday: 11am

Of course, this is all subject to change.
