DWTS Misty May-Treanor "out of the Competition"
By Us Magazine
October 6, 2008, 9:32 am PDT

Dancing With the Stars' Brooke Burke confirmed Monday that injured Misty May-Treanor will be sitting out for good.

"It's such a sad situation. She did hurt her Achilles tendon. I don't know if she tore it or ruptured it," Brooke said on L.A.'s 104.3 FM. "She's out of the competition. Just like that, it's over for her.

"The sad thing...this is her jumping mechanism," Burke added of the beach volleyball champ, 31. "We're all really concerned for her. She may be having surgery this week. We don't know yet. It's such a bummer."

"She heard a pop," Burke said of the Olympic gold medalist, "so it's really serious."

See then-and-now photos of the Dancing With the Star cast!

Asked if anyone would be eliminated this week in light of May-Treanor's absence, Burke said, "We don't know. They still have to have the same amount of shows.

"I heard [Edyta Sliwinska] and [Maksim Chmerkovskiy] may dance together since both of their partners are gone, but I don't know what's going to happen," Burke said.

Check out the wackiest Dancing With the Star outfits of all time!

Burke also confirmed that her current partner Derek Hough and his ex partner Shannon Elizabeth "are still together.

"They're living together," Burke said. "She comes to rehearsals and they're going strong."

Burke recently blogged that Hough "received a clean bill of health" after taking a tumble during practice on Saturday.

Source:http://omg.yahoo.com/news/dwts-misty-may-treanor-out-of-the-competition/13878?nc

Aw that's just awful, I thought she was doing pretty well, and for it to be her Achille's tendon =x she's such a great volleyball player too. =( Hope she recovers soon.

Supposedly this week's elimination was a SHOCKER .. according to news reports I've been reading. I can honestly say, I couldn't be happier.

Kim Kardashian becomes 3rd celebrity dismissed from 'Dancing With the Stars'
By DERRIK J. LANG | AP Entertainment Writer
7:07 AM CDT, October 1, 2008
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Kim Kardashian won't be back on "Dancing With the Stars."

The reality TV star and her professional partner, Mark Ballas, were eliminated Tuesday from ABC's popular dancing competition. The pair received a score of 17 out of 30 from the show's judges following a lackluster rumba routine. E!'s "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star was booted after her score — the third lowest — was combined with viewer votes.

"Today, five years ago, my father passed away, and I just know he's really happy and watching over me, and I made him proud," Kardashian, daughter of late attorney Robert Kardashian and reality co-star Kris Jenner, said after her dismissal.

Model-actress Brooke Burke and partner Derek Hough continued to remain in the top spot after dominating the first week of competition. The pair tied with former Oakland Raiders defensive lineman Warren Sapp and partner Kym Johnson. Both dancing couples scored a 24 for their paso doble routines Monday.

Other celebrities remaining in the competition include celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito; singers Lance Bass and Toni Braxton; Olympic gold medalists Maurice Greene and Misty May-Treanor; actresses Cloris Leachman and Susan Lucci and actor Cody Linley.

Source:http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/sns-ap-tv-dancing-with-the-stars,0,3691191.story?track=rss

Personally, I think she's doing this for publicity. -_-' She says she's trying her hardest, but it certainly doesn't look like it... and I'd rather have Cloris on the show (not past next week hopefully =x) then have Kim. I feel sorry for Mark though =x

Lang
Associated Press

LOS ANGELES -- Ted McGinley from "Married with Children" has gotten a divorce from "Dancing with the Stars." The actor and his professional partner, Inna Brayer, were eliminated Wednesday from ABC's dancing competition.

The pair received a score of 19 out of 30 from the show's judges Tuesday following their mambo routine. FOX News Play Video Video: After Show: Happy Birthday, Isaac Chambers! KMOV Channel 4 St. Louis Play Video Video: TV's Big Night FOX News Los Angeles (E! Online) – Dancing With the Stars kicked off its three-night seventh-season premiere extravaganza tonight, with all the sequins, tuxes, predance jitters, trips to the emergency room and Bruno Tonioli metaphors that such an endeavor entails.

While all 13 contestants had a go Monday, only 12 will dance Tuesday and then, on Wednesday, yet another will get the boot, leaving 11 to tango on in week two.

But in the meantime, find out who starred, who stunk, what the judges said, what we think and then—if you have any energy left—tell us what you thought...

Cody Linley: The 18-year-old Hannah Montana star and closet beat-boxer has great potential. With all that teenage energy, he matched two-time champion Julianne Hough cha-for-cha in the opening dance of the season. His footwork wasn't perfect, but he moves well and has a great attitude, not to mention a partner who, if all else fails, can keep all eyes on her with costumes such as that backless, one-sided fringed number she was sporting tonight. Well done!

Judges Said: 18; "I'm just freaking out that both of you—your combined age—is younger than my age," judge Carrie Ann Inaba fretted.

Rocco DiSpirito: We were glad to see that Karina Smirnoff was still able to wear a barely there dress despite all the pasta the celebrity chef appeared to be feeding her—mainly because this duo's going to need all the help they can get, considering DiSpirito couldn't land a toe-heel lead to save his life. All of which makes us wonder, did Smirnoff sprain her ankle on purpose?

Judges Said: 14; "A fox-trot on the brink of chaos," per Bruno.

Toni Braxton: It was a bit nerve-racking watching the 40-year-old singer after she revealed that she had recently been diagnosed with microvascular angina, which occurs when not enough oxygen is making it into the heart. But Braxton's body rivals the female pros and she cha-cha'd like a natural, curing our stage fright in one session. This could finally be Alec Mazo's chance to reclaim that season-one glory.

Judges Said: 22; "Everybody knows I like my divas—slinky, sultry, sexy—and you are all of that," Bruno growled.

Maurice Green: The Olympic track star started off in the middle of the pack, ably dancing a fox-trot but not necessarily to the extent that we think Cheryl Burke will be winning another disco ball any time soon. But we know that Green's feet can really fly on a good day, so if he survives to dance a mambo tomorrow, it'll give us a better sense of what he's capable of.

Judges Said: 18; "I feel like I should call you Mo James Brown," Carrie Ann offered.

Brooke Burke: The 37-year-old mother of four (including a 6-month-old) has moves to spare and a tummy to envy. Suited up in skintight pants, Burke didn't suffer from the stiffness that has afflicted DWTS' past model contestants, such as Josie Maran and Paulina Porizkova. Instead, she gave Derek Hough his first-ever week one lead by trotting out a graceful, sexy cha-cha.

Judges Said: 23; best dance of the night.

Ted McGinley: The 50-year-old Married With Children star could have been the Steve Guttenberg of the bunch, but instead the handsome actor donned a tux and proved a dashing partner for DWTS newcomer Inna Brayer. Sure, there were mistakes and there was a bit of a sitcom dream-sequence element to it. But unlike Rocco, the man knows how to lead with his toes.

Judges Said: 18; "At moments you had the elegance of Cary Grant in To Catch a Thief—and then you turned into Steve Carell in Get Smart," per Bruno.

Lance Bass: First off, there was some butt-kicking choreography from former So You Think You Can Dance finalist Lacey Schwimmer, a welcome addition to the pro fold and Hough's main rival for resident hot young thang. As for Bass…Worst dancer in 'N Sync, our foot. The 29-year-old popster fulfilled all of his boy-band potential and more, instantly becoming a front-runner by acing a technically complicated, hot 'n' sexy cha-cha right off the bat. They should have received a 24, but Len Goodman is a fuddy-duddy.

Judges Said: 22; "A cha-cha-cha for now!" Bruno declared.

Cloris Leachman: Flashing some intense cleavage in a gorgeous blue gown, the Oscar-winning 82-year-old is the oldest contestant the show has ever had. While Leachman could easily prove to be a fan favorite, especially for those who always enjoyed watching their grandparents cut a rug, there technically isn't much to watch, dancewise. But we recommend keeping her around, if for no other reason than we feel she's the contestant most likely to drop an F-bomb on live TV.

Judges Said: 16; "I've always wanted to be a [boy-toy], and this could be my chance!" said Len. And there's no need for Carrie Ann to fret—Leachman and partner Corky Ballas (Mark's dad) have a combined age of 129.

Jeffrey Ross: Edyta Sliwinska needed more than her legwarmers-and-nothing-else ensemble to salvage this cha-cha. The curse began early this year, as the stand-up comedian and Friars Club roastmaster needed a trip to the emergency room earlier Monday after getting poked in the eye during rehearsal. So, we'll just blame his scratched cornea for his lack of coordination...yup.

Judges Said: 12; Carrie Ann noted that it didn't look as if he was having much fun out there.

Kim Kardashian: The reality-TV star came down with a slight case of modelitis (symptoms: stiffness, weird look on her face, unflattering hair), but she moved well and seems really, really excited to be there. Defending champ Mark Ballas has his work cut out for him.

Judges Said: 19; a better score than most, but they said she needs to work on her approachability.

Susan Lucci: More than one Daytime Emmy isn't the only thing beyond the soap star's grasp. Freakishly toned, yes, but the 62-year-old Lucci is going to have to lose the heavy-handed (or footed, in this case) approach if she wants to make it out of week two. This lady's got a lot of fans, so we think they're going to let her slide tomorrow and Wednesday. And Tony Dovolani is going to have to come up with some innovative choreography, if he dares.

Judges Said: 15; meaning Cloris Leachman outdanced her.

Misty May-Treanor: The two-time Olympic gold medalist has the good fortune to be paired with Maksim "Look at Me" Chmerkovskiy, who has enough female fans on his own to buy his partner at least a few weeks. Not that May-Treanor's going to need his help—her body's slammin', and she didn't look all Monica Seles uncomfortable while dancing an elegant fox-trot.

Judges Said: 21; "I have never seen anyone dance a fox-trot with such intensity," Carrie Ann observed.

Warren Sapp: Just when we were thinking that the roly-poly football star did himself no favors by wearing one of Emmitt Smith's old suits, his toes started twinkling. This Super Bowl winner can move, and Kym Johnson's finally got herself a shot at the title.

Judges Said: 21; "You're a great big bundle of joy!" Len exclaimed.

So, there you have it for tonight. Who do you think has a shot, and who would you like to see hang up their dancing shoes for good?

Source:http://news.yahoo.com/story//eonline/20080923/en_celeb_eo/30415

LANG, AP Entertainment Writer
1 hour and 34 minutes ago

It was the 100th episode of "Dancing with the Stars" -- but the last for Mario.

The 21-year-old R&B singer and his professional partner, Karina Smirnoff, were eliminated during Tuesday's results show, which also served as a special celebration of the ABC dancing competition's 100th episode.

Mario and Smirnoff performed a Viennese waltz and a jive during Monday's performance show, earning 53 out of 60 points. The judges crowned Mario "a new prince" following his ballroom dance but called his feet "bloody ugly" after his Latin dance. Mario came in third place following the judges' scores Monday.

Top-scorer Christian De la Fuente dropped partner Cheryl Burke last week when he ruptured a tendon in his biceps. Burke choreographed the couple's tango and mambo routines this week so that the Chilean actor mostly used his good arm -- including the lifts, which were allowed for the first time this round.

De la Fuente, NFL player Jason Taylor, Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi and Broadway star Marissa Jaret Winokur remain and will compete in next week's semifinals.

In honor of the popular reality series' 100th episode, host Tom Bergeron announced there were 100 fans -- two from each state -- in the audience as well as several former contestants, such as Kelly Monaco, Jane Seymour, Vivica A. Fox, Jerry Springer, Mark Cuban, Drew Lachey, Ian Ziering, Sabrina Ryan and Lisa Rhinna.

Three former contestants returned to the dance floor.

Fourth season winner Apolo Anton Ohno and fifth season runner-up Melanie Brown separately danced with their former professional partners during performances by Rascal Flatts. Third season runner-up Mario Lopez, who's currently starring in "A Chorus Line" on Broadway, also performed a high-kicking routine with the cast from the musical revival.

Source:http://www.tv.yahoo.com/show/38356/news/urn:newsml:tv.ap.org:20080507:dancing_with_the_stars

'Dancing With the Stars': Insults and Injury
Performing with only one arm, Cristian gets his best scores ever; meanwhile, the judges turn on Kristi and Jason, and Len continues to abuse Mario

By Annie Barrett
There's one big story this week on Dancing With the Stars, and it's obvious: Thanks to, as Tom put it, ''viewer votes and a doctor's note,'' Cristián de la Fuente has finally found his calling as a one-armed ballroom dancer. The tasty Chilean sea bass of a man took the lead for the first time all season, earning his first 10 (plus two more) in the process. Other than that, though, Monday night was pretty typical. The script contained way too much Kristi vs. Jason pitting; Bruno cut off Len, as uzh; and Mark can't stop distracting me from Kristi's dancing with his flair and face. And Len's inexplicable bias against Mario rages on. It's beginning to remind me of Michael Scott's randomly brutal treatment of Toby on The Office. Except DWTS isn't a comedy, and Len's bias is not funny. (Also, for the record, the first part of that last sentence is a blatant lie.)

The show runners got what they wanted: a leaderboard with a twist. (That sounds like a DWTS-inspired cocktail! God, now all I want to do is create a list of DWTS-inspired cocktails. But I'm supposed to be writing, so I'll just nurse a Typical Edyta Costume-tini and write that list some other time.) Here's how the final five fared in ballroom and Latin this week....

Cristián de la Fuente and Cheryl: 57 out of a possible 60 Cheryl Burke was by far the MVP of ABC's Monday Night Discoball. Her choreography for two dances with a one-armed partner blew me away, and I'm glad DANCMSTR gave her some props right away, during his commentary for their tango set to ''Beat It.'' (The song was perfect for Cristián's current approach to the competition: ''No one wants to be defeated'' — by common sense!) During the tango, Cheryl got to incorporate lots of her specialty move — whipping herself around — to mask her partner's relative stillness. But I'm guessing some of Cheryl's head jerks may have been necessitated by the upside-down doorway of feathers surrounding her chin.

For the mambo, Cristián's sequined cast cover was fierce, not to mention his wide-open magenta shirt. Oddly enough, injured Cristián seems to have more composure on the floor than healthy Cristián. He seemed less nervous about his next moves, and even a little sneaky about Cheryl's choreo. I detected a Ha-ha, you just wait half a second to see what incredible feat my right arm can accomplish next! smirk once or twice. This dance was probably my favorite of the night. And that final lift was so clever! God, I'm as easily impressed as the judges. ''The things you can do with one arm,'' indeed, Bruno. Moving on....

Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark: 55/60 I assumed that with Kristi's pairs-skating background and Mark's unabashed love for flair and excess, this pair would be all about the wacky lifts this week. Not so; as their rehearsal footage showed (and this is all it showed), Mark didn't want to take anything away from the character of their dances. He did throw a lift in at the end of their quickstep, but it was more of a cheerleader lift, like something the two laziest people on the squad would launch into every once in a while to keep up the illusion of spirit. (This analogy is pretty unfair, as the lift was actually quite nice — for more on analogies that make no sense, see DANCMSTR's Britney comment to Mario, below.) The judges loved Kristi's royal blue quickstep, quickly dubbing her as ''right back where you were a few weeks ago.'' Bruno didn't think that was clear enough, so he told Kristi she was a ''super candidate with a super ticket to the finals!'' Got it!

Kristi's second dance was the samba, but all my memories focus on that busted red-and-yellow costume. It was completely fringed — so according to my own ridiculous costuming standards, I should have loved it. But...yikes. My mom called to tell me it reminded her of the yellow Sprite' costume I wore to a youth ballet recital, and my sister e-mailed me this winning description: ''human volcanic fireball, with fringe wings...what was that???'' Good question. According to my own expert opinion, Kristi's outfit resembled two adjacent pools of ketchup and mustard that were about to get viciously swirled by a giant fry. If Mark had worn yellow instead of red, this visual would make even more sense than it already does. Anyway! The judges dissed Kristi's samba, calling it ''slightly awkward'' and lacking in rhythm. Mark didn't put in any samba rolls, which surprised me. But I loved all those incredible turns — my my, that precarious glob of condiments sure can spin!

Yo, Brian Boitano in the audience next to Kristi's mom! No, that's all. Just hi.

Mario and Karina: 53/60 Okay, I take it back: Mario and Karina's Viennese waltz was my favorite dance of the night. I thought Mario was pretty graceful, and certainly as ''stiff'' as Scarrie Ann wanted him to be. I loved the cool sequence in the middle where they stepped in and out of hold four times quickly. (Look at me, using the phrase ''in and out of hold''!) And I thought their lift during the waltz was the most seamless of all the attempted lifts of the evening. Everything just flowed very nicely, including Karina's white dress, which kind of made her look like a skankalicious bride. Good thing they practiced that one in the pool during rehearsal, huh? Because, Mario informed us, in a pool, ''the only thing Karina has to worry about is being cold.'' In a white bikini. Ah, that was rich. Len's comments, on the other hand, were just cheap and uncalled for. ''Normally your ballroom dance reminds me of Britney Spears getting out of a car — not very elegant,'' he told Mario before even addressing the waltz at hand. Really, DANCMSTR? How long was that ''current'' pop-culture reference brewing in your stuffy old noggin? You were such a softie to me in last week's 'DWTS Talk' — what's with this week's raging 'tude?

Mario's jive — enhanced by awesome pink suspenders that somehow totally worked with the rest of the pair's ''look'' — was much less impressive, but certainly not as bad as DANCMSTR made it out to be. Out of nowhere, his contempt returned to knock down Mario's ''bloody big, ugly'' feet. Huh? Why not just say, ''No technique in the footwork,'' which was the next phrase out of his squinchy mouth, and leave it at that? Someone should go fetch Len his fave snack of a cheese roll and a cup of tea, because I'm sick of this. Bruno and Carrie Ann had better things to say, and Carrie Ann (and Tom!) loved the somewhat convoluted lift at the end of the dance that lowered into a split. It was very in the spirit of the show — too much flash condensed into an impossible time frame, and they somehow kind of made it work. I enjoyed that.

Jason Taylor and Edyta: 52/60 After ''sacking Kristi'' last week (thanks for that visual, Tom), Jason dropped to fourth place. Whoa! My guesses for next week's Tom Bergeron voice-over keywords include ''fumble'' and ''on the defensive.'' Or I could just go all out and predict a complete sentence: ''Our favorite hot football player with totally ripped abs that a spray tan certainly enhances but let's be honest they probably looked great to begin with plummeted to the bottom of the judges' leaderboard.'' Yep, that's it. The judges loved Jason and Edyta's first dance, a sultry tango that, as Bruno pointed out, was thoroughly enhanced by Edyta's performance. Specifically, I thought her sharp but contained leg motions made the tango seem technically more impressive. The lift at the end did seamlessly blend into the dramatic tango finish of Edyta sprawled angrily on the floor. Len and Bruno argued about what tango actually was, then out came two 10s. (One was a ''Teeeeeeeeeeehn!'')

Jason's samba was a different story: DANCMSTR called out Jason's lack of musicality and uncomfortable look, Carrie Ann said he failed at flamboyance (which Jason probably took as a compliment), and Bruno just called the dance ''a turkey.'' Jason's low scores were surprising, but at least we got to hear DANCMSTR's lilting ''seh-ven!'' — probably for the last time all season. Jason's moves did seem a bit recycled and basic, and for me the only awesome part of the dance was another incredible lift that basically begged us to worship at the six-foot-six-inch-tall altar of the perfect female form — an upside-down Edyta arched into a stunning diagonal line. Put that on your fridge and look at it when you feel like eating pudding! Then eat the pudding anyway. You totally deserve it.

Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony: 50/60 It's crunch time, which means Marissa needs to mention her triumph over cancer in the same breath as ''We're in the bottom two.'' Cringe! (Whoa — I'm suddenly appalled that ''cringe'' rhymes with ''fringe.'' Significant? Discuss.) Marissa has definitely grown on me, but based strictly on dance ability, she — or Cristián — should go home this week. Marissa and Tony's fox-trot — featuring a pewter gown that put Sabrina's purple frock last season to complete shame in the Dept. of the Unnecessarily Unflattering — was a bit too Broadway for Bruno's tastes. I didn't even think that was possible, but okay. There was a lot of stop-and-go in Marissa and Tony's fox-trot and mambo, and both dances just seemed a little slower and less complicated than everyone else's. After their mambo, DANCMSTR went ahead and confused everyone even more with a complaint that Marissa wasn't ''raunchy'' enough. He should have plenty of raunch (of which to approve and disapprove at will) in tonight's 100th episode extravaganza! You know, the show Tom says ''takes an hour to promote''? We noticed. And we can't wait!

Did anyone else love when Cristián tried to act demure and shield his nipples from the camera after giving everyone backstage a high five?

Source:http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20198040,00.html

I've learned a lot," she said as her professional partner, Derek Hough, stood by her side. "I've made a friend for life, and hopefully a bunch of friends for life, and I'll be here to support everyone as much as I can."

Hough said he "couldn't have asked for more" from a partner.

"She really is a big dork," he said, "but I love that."

The pair earned 51 out of 60 points for their two dances Monday.
As some of you may notice, I've been posting a bunch of articles by Annie Barret from Entertainment Weekly, mainly because I love her articles x) If you're sick of it, just tell me and I'll stop lol. =) But there's more behind the cut.

''Dancing With the Stars'': Perfect Jive
Kristi Yamaguchi gets the season's first 30; plus, Samantha goes showmance hunting with Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough

By Annie Barrett
To borrow a metaphor from DANCMSTR (who's been way more into metaphors this season than Bruno — what the hell?), last night's episode of Dancing With the Stars was basically a buffet of ballroom and Latin. Seven couples performed six different dances — ones they hadn't done before. A few buffet selections were sure things — Kristi and Mark's jive, for example, was a dependably terrific, possibly dripping slice of prime rib that you may wish to eat with elbow-length gloves. Some were pleasant surprises — my enjoyment of Marissa and Tony's waltz reminded me of the time I realized I really loved bacon-wrapped figs after eating them off a buffet to be polite. Who knew? Whereas poor Marlee's samba was like the untouched platter of sliced beets hiding in the corner of the table — you want to like them because they have so much iron and they're good for you, but in the end, they're beets. (And Marlee's probably beat tonight.)

According to this horrible dance-to-food formula that I refuse to let die, the wildly erratic, tepid mess of a group hoedown would have to be the buffet's room-temperature dessert section. I'm thinking the hoedown was every flavor of cobbler, smushed together in a festering to-go container that's been sitting in your bag since you got home five hours ago. But you heat it up anyway, because you've been looking forward to it all night. And then it's gross. But it really, really meant well, and you know that, and everything is somehow okay.

Who's not hungry anymore? Not me! Here's how everyone did in the dances that counted:

Kristi Yamaguchi and Mark: 30 out of a possible 30 Their tasty buffet of a jive was the first perfect-30 dance of season 6! It seemed incredibly fast and complicated, and all the crazy spins worked to the former figure skater's advantage. I can't imagine any other nonpro woman from the whole series pulling off a dance like this one. Kristi's three quick spins under Mark's legs reminded me of a move Julianne performed with both Helio and Apolo, and Kristi's rotations were just as fast. Bruno and Carrie Ann agreed that this jive was their favorite dance of the season — I'm pretty sure I agree with them, but it could be that I'm just really obsessed with the huge, polka-dotted bow in Kristi's hair. With the bow, the white gloves, and the weird shoes, Kristi had a solid Minnie Mouse vibe goin' on. Mark's look, as Tom pointed out, was more ''Buddy Holly meets Steve Urkel,'' and I must say the nerdy glasses definitely distracted from Mark's open-mouth syndrome. These two win the award for most crap jammed into a rehearsal package — I'd have thought a Tiger Woods charity event and the story of Kristi's childhood disability (clubbed feet) would've demanded at least two weeks' worth of filler. Not so. To quote Carrie Ann for no reason, ''Hay-ul, yeah!''

Mario and Karina: 28/30 Mario dedicated a really raunchy dance to a 6-year-old boy who was then warned not to really watch it. ''Let's Get It On,'' children! How...cute? Actually, Mario's little brother, Ray Dylan, was adorable, and he provided some swiveling hip action almost as convincing as his big brother's. See, even that sounded inappropriate, even though it's what happened on screen. What's a girl to do? If you're Karina, it's ''wear a bedsheet to the ballroom.'' This made sense, as the rumba is the ''bedroom dance,'' but I didn't think they'd take the theme so literally by costuming Karina in what was essentially a dysfunctional diaper. After the rumba, which Carrie Ann called ''better than good sex,'' DANCMSTR got all crotchety, complaining that the dance is supposed to be about the development of a romance, ''not a strumpet and a gigolo.'' This was pretty harsh. Does Len remember any other episodes of this show? Isn't there at least one of those types on each night, two if you count Bruno? Speaking of that stallion, he was in top form after Mario and Karina's rumba, calling DANCMSTR ''crusty and stiffy'' (which caused Carrie Ann to blatantly scope out Len's crotch) and saying the rumba was full of ''savage, primeval lust,'' followed by something that was bleeped out. I'm 100 percent sure it was ''eating each other.'' And duh, Mario and Karina are at a buffet. Why wouldn't they?

Cristián and Cheryl: 27/30 Cristián's fans are likely miffed that their guy scored only one point behind Mario (whom Bruno called out for doing a lift but then awarded a 10 anyway). If bottom-two dweller Cristián has fans, that is. I hope he does — he looked good last night! Did you see when he slid down the banister? Talent! No, seriously, Cristián finally buckled down and must have trained harder for the foxtrot than any other dance yet. He looked shocked when Bruno complimented his footwork as ''an unexpected treat.'' (Buffet!) And he was so excited by Carrie Ann's comment about his crossing over from Rigid to Refined that — somewhat invoking his old friend the Sea World sea lion — he executed a hilarious seal clap that accidentally encompassed Cheryl's head. The tasty Chilean sea bass of a man is simply more comfortable in aquatic environments (like swimming pools) than on land. It's who he is! And speaking of identity, Cristán's knack for the ballroom dances over the Latin ones has him questioning whether his parents lied to him about his heritage. He's in for a treat when he meets his real parents.

For those of you following my Sequins vs. Fringe tally on DWTS Talk, i.e., no one, just an FYI: Cheryl's Ginger Rogers-inspired feather dress will count as double fringe this week. It has to.

Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony: 26/30 ''It's 2008. Who curtsies?'' Marissa does! Her Viennese waltz was my favorite dance of Tony and Marissa's to date, if only because it's the first one that did not end with an ''OH MY GOD I'M DANCING HOW AWESOME IS THAT?!!!'' face from Marissa. Last night's final pose contained actual drama, and I thought she and Tony pulled it off quite well. I appreciated her long gown and his indigo suit, the relative classiness of which helped offset the atrocious version of ''Delilah'' that accompanied the waltz. The judges universally praised the pair, although Bruno could barely finish what he was saying because Tony had butted in with a complaint about how Bruno's critique was ''all business.'' (Quick, who has a history book? Mark that down in it.) Marissa just couldn't contain her excitement about getting 9s, so she wandered back into the realm of her consciousness in which screeching every utterance is acceptable and encouraged. No one else lives there with her. It's annoying, but she doesn't seem able to help it, so it's okay. Give me another week and I might actually call it endearing. Tom's stern suggestion that Marissa ''cheer up'' was hysterical.

Jason Taylor and Edyta: 24/30 What? They've never been this low ranked! Not even a cartwheel over the staircase's railing could goad the judges into handing out 9s so early in the night. (Jason and Edyta have typically danced toward the end of the show, but they performed their cha-cha first last night.) I'll bypass a lengthy explanation of Edyta's costume (in brief: sequined strings dangling from...briefs) in favor of relaying Carrie Ann's significant critique of Jason: He has Big Man Syndrome and is basically dancing ''too small'' for his body. Honestly, it just seemed like the judges picked this week to not overscore Jason. His dancing looked the same as usual — competent and, well, huge. Jason opted for the sleeveless look last night, so of course Bruno had to say, ''I like to see you more exposed!'' He also couldn't resist calling Jason ''flamboyant.'' (Bruno, don't scare him; otherwise he'll never unbutton that vest.) I loved how Jason promised his fans some sweet moves in the freestyle round (which happens on finals week) if they'd vote for him last night. He did show a certain flair while dancing with Sho-Tyme — who, as we learned when Edyta read it off a cue card, ''is a hip-hop choreographer who has worked with Gwen Stefani and many other artists.'' Trivia!

Shannon Elizabeth and Derek: 24/30 OMG did you guys see Shannon and Derek on the beach?! They were tumbling over each other and Derek took his shirt off and there were softcore porno background tunes, and according to reliable sources (Shannon and Derek), ''the beach at sunset is definitely a romantic place''! Ugh. After their rumba, Samantha was undoubtedly instructed to relentlessly question Shannon and Derek about their ''showmance'' (ewwww), because the producers think showmances make the season more interesting. They absolutely don't. Why would I want to watch two people, with not much in common, who happen to be paired up on a TV show, engage in a relationship I'll always suspect is fake? Where is the draw in that? I thought we were supposed to care about their dancing. If Shannon and Derek had actually devoted solid time to working on Shannon's lack of hip action rather than shooting multiple takes of oceanside hula hooping, they might have gotten somewhere with the judges. Instead, Carrie Ann delivered the blow: ''At week 6, we're looking for beyond potential.'' I'm surprised she didn't add, ''You know, if you two made a sex tape, you could probs stick around.'' I'm really interested to see if a ''Sherek'' (again, ewwww) fan base mobilizes out of thin air because of this speculation about a fling. But not as interested as I'd be in watching Samantha actually grill inmates at Guantánamo Bay, as Tom suggested. ''You've certainly become close in this high-security detention cell. How close have you become?''

Marlee Matlin and Fabian: 21/30 I'll start out this paragraph with a mercy comment typical of Carrie Ann and tonight's special ballroom guest, Paula Abdul: Marlee really did look hot in that turquoise-tinged tiger number, whatever it was. It's hard to disagree with the judges that Marlee and Fabian's mambo was a total mess, but I have to say I didn't think that song was conducive at all to any sort of dance, let alone one that other humans would actually be watching. I couldn't find the beat for more than eight measures myself. It was almost as if Fabian intentionally chose a song with no discernible rhythm to distract from the fact that Marlee has none either. I honestly can't imagine any couple dancing to that song and doing well. Am I just a huge Marlee fan who can't accept reality? Probably. I keep thinking there must be a teaching method Fabian hasn't uncovered yet, like a light-bulb moment that'll make every dance in sync with the music, but that's probably unrealistic. I suppose it's time for Marlee to go, since her limitations are significant and two dances a week likely aren't doable. Tonight will be the true test of her fan base. At least the Fonz (or, as I know him, Arrested Development's Barry Zuckerkorn) showed up for a motivational speech reminiscent of Richard Simmons' to Jennie Garth last season, except Henry Winkler's was less creepy and Henry Winkler and Marlee Matlin are actual good friends.

Okay, everybody but Marissa gimme a holler for the triple-whammy HGOTW!

Source:http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20193931,00.html

She also thanked her family, her children and Henry Winkler, who was a guest at Monday's show.

"He has supported me a lot over the years," Matlin said through a sign-language interpreter.

Before she left the ballroom, she got a hug from show host Tom Bergeron, who revealed he is a longtime friend of the Oscar winner.

"I'm going to step out of the host role and say, as a friend, I am so proud of you," Bergeron said as he hugged her.

Tuesday's results show also included a performance by Ashlee Simpson, who flashed her new engagement ring as she sang a track called "Boys" from her new "Bittersweet World" album. The Riverdance Irish step-dancing troupe showed off their fast footwork, and two more teams of tots took the floor in the three-week-old "ballroom kids" competition.

Six celebrity contestants remain on the ABC dance-off, including pro football player Jason Taylor, Olympic skater Kristi Yamaguchi — who has finished in first place throughout the season — R&B singer Mario, and actors Shannon Elizabeth, Cristian de la Fuente and Marissa Jaret Winokur.

Priscilla Presley, Adam Carolla, Steve Guttenberg, Monica Seles and Penn Jillette have already been eliminated.

Source:http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080423/ap_en_tv/tv_dancing_with_the_stars_3
