In the darkness lies secrets of the forgotten..

Hi everyone. I'm Lisa, 38 from Rochester,NY. Few years ago I went with a group of ghost hunters to the Mansfield Reformatory. I have loads of pics from the trip, so here's a peek and the rest are behind the cut. I'll have to do this in a few posts as I have 40 something images that were taken. 9 pics below the cut..

That's astonishing. All those crumbling little spaces, still with the bedsprings, sinks and toilets.

These abandoned institutions (prisons, schools and hospitals) are especially evocative somehow - you think of all the lives that passed through them, for better or worse, and wonder what became of them all.

Do you know what the plans are for the site currently? Will it be preserved in the long term, or redeveloped?

When we were there they were in the process of fixing it up. A few movies were filmed there as well as a music video. I'll see if I can find any more about it if you want.

Wow! I never seen before any american prison. These cells looks too small. Are they for single or twin accommodation?

That is so cool! I'm also from Rochester (southwedge) and I've been to OSR a number of times. My grandparents took me there, and then every time I go to visit I drag everyone along! I'm actually wearing my OSR t-shirt today, too!

Greatest story from OSR: My very first trip there, they put me in one of the solitary cells that they've recently restored. Scariest thing I've ever experienced. Not because I think it's haunted at all, but you can't see or hear anything. Your sense are completely stripped from you. All you can do is sit down and hope they open the door soon. That's enough to scare me into a straight life!

Yeah, we heard faint screaming from various hallways, loads or orbs, and the resident psychic in the group felt spirits around her. One of the guys in the group was fighting off a possession as well.

Me too. When you first go in there with the lights on, it looks cool, but once the lights go off you get a bit disoriented and your fears try to get the best of you. It's the "You never know what's around the corner" feeling.

WOW awesome! I took some pictures at my moms house and I have the same little balls of white in my pics. My mom is convinced that they're ghosts :)

They're called orbs :) a sure sign that there's ghosties in the building, or in your mums case, her house. Does anything strange ever happen to her? Noises, etc?
