The official CTV Facebook page for THE BRIDGE has posted some photos.

The first two photos are new. The 3rd photo is a bigger (and blurry) version of the one posted in The New York Times. The 4th photo is a bigger verson of the one posted in Playback magazine. And the 5th one we've all seen a billion times before.

EDIT: I'm sorry but that first photo is way too yummy to be just a thumbnail.

I've created a LJ community for THE BRIDGE @ [info]thebridge_tv. I hope to see all of you over there.

I will continue to post any Aaron related info regarding THE BRIDGE on here but going forward we need somewhere to post items for the rest of the cast members, writers and crew and LJ icons, videos, etc. And we will have the episode reviews over there instead of on here. That way you can discuss all aspects of the episode and the subject doesn't have to be just about Aaron.

I expect the new comm will be very quiet until the show starts to air and we have something to talk about it.

According to a google alert email, CTV have created an official facebook page for The Bridge. If you have a facebook account please join and show your support. Also, there is a fan page for Aaron (because Aaron's own facebook page is private). I can't believe I never posted about it before but I see that some of you have already found it :)

Aaron and his co-stars from THE BRIDGE (Frank Cassini, Genadijs Dolganovs, Inga Cadranel, Ona Grauer, Paul Popowich & Theresa Joy) will be walking the red carpet at the MuchMusic Video Awards this Sunday.

The MMVAs RED CARPET SPECIAL airs live on Sunday, June 21st at 8 p.m. ET.

Can someone in Canada please tape the red carpet special and then upload it online if Aaron is shown?

EDIT: I found a link to videos for the MMVAs.

For the previous years (2006-2008) there is video of the red carpet arrivals.
Fingers crossed they'll add the video for this year as well.

Thanks to [info]greycoupon here is the new trailer for THE PLAN.

Yay. The Chief gets to smile :)

You can view the first trailer HERE.

GALACTICA.TV recently posted an interview they did with Alessandro Juliani (Gaeta). Below is a copy and paste of the part of the interview where they talk about Aaron. It's a mixture of 'what the frak?' and lol at AJ for his hilarious reply.

So Aaron Douglas said that you guys are friends, but unfortunately never got to do scenes together, and he said you often played guitar in front of his trailer.

In front of his trailer? (bursts out laughing) I think that was back when Aaron Douglas was smoking a lot of Crack! Because I've never brought my guitar to the set. But I think Aaron is getting confused because he used to bring his Japanese Flute to the set, and would play it in front of my trailer. But this was when he was hoping to kinda seduce me ‘n' stuff, and it got really complicated and messy, so I probably shouldn't go into it! (both laughing)

Was that to relieve stress, what did he play you?

It was to relieve stress for him! For me it was annoying as heck when he was playing outside my trailer all the time. (laughing) I had to get security to take him away eventually.

I wonder how old that 'supposed' comment from Aaron is. Aaron and AJ had scenes together in 3x02: Precipice and 3x05: Collaborators.

Got this sent to me by Aaron. Since when does he scoop me on news? :)

Below are some exclusive photos of Aaron from photographer PETE NEMA. Some of you may remember Pete's photos of Aaron (and Kandyse) from the Juno Awards (photos are HERE and HERE). Pete is friends with Aaron and takes photos when they hang out. So look forward to seeing some more exclusive pics from Pete.

The person in the last photo (making the goofy face) is Toby Proctor. Toby is also in THE BRIDGE. Below is a screen cap of Toby from the The Bridge trailer. Toby was also part of Aaron's 'entourage' at DragonCon last year so some of you may recognise him.

NOTE: A huge thank you to Pete for sharing his photos with us and thank you to Aaron for 'introducing' Pete and I to each other.

Battlestar Galactica's Aaron Douglas, Veronica Mars and Flashpoint's Enrico Colantoni
By: Kat Angus
Jun 05 2009, 02:48 PM

Last night, I had the pleasure of attending CTV's UpClose party, where they had stars of all their fall shows mingling and taking photos with us regular schmoes. As if that weren't enough, there was an open bar, a barbecue and, oh yeah, an ICE CREAM TRUCK. Best party ever? Possibly. The Degrassi kids were all there - they're all, like, four feet tall - as was (bleh) Ben Mulroney, some Corner Gas people (double bleh), plus a few of the So You Think You Can Dance Canada people dancing on podiums. Except that the podiums were so narrow that for all the moves they could do, they might as well have just hired mediocre go-go dancers.

But. But! I did get to speak to two people who made me, on the inside, squeal like a little fangirl. (On the outside, I was, as always, the consummate professional.) I am speaking, of course, of Aaron Douglas and Enrico Colantoni. Douglas was there to promote his new show, The Bridge, while Colantoni was there with the rest of the Flashpoint crew. I have to say that Enrico is one of the most delightfully goofy men I've ever met in real life, though, as he later told me, it was probably just for show. So! For your reading pleasure, here are my interviews with both of those lovely men, including what Colantoni wants to see from any potential Veronica Mars movie (fingers crossed).

Aaron Douglas

How does working on The Bridge compared to Battlestar Galactica?
Oh, it's so much work. With Battlestar, I was in a cast of 15, 16 people, so there would be weeks where I worked five days or weeks where I worked one day. Now, I'm working every day, all day 15 or 16-hour days. It's long. It's fun, but it's long.

How did you connect with your Bridge character, Frank Leo?
That's an interesting question. I don't know; I don't really go in for any of that method stuff. I just go in, say my lines and hope someone likes it. And I still have a job, so I guess I'm doing a good job. I like to think that if the Chief had been a cop, he'd have been Frank Leo. He and I have a stuff in common, too.

Like what?
We both like cigars and Scotch.

How did it feel to have The Bridge picked up by CBS?
Well, great. It's CBS, the biggest network in the States. You can't ask for much more than that, really.

Do you feel any pressure, since it is the biggest network?
Not really. Like I said, I just go in and say my lines and hope for the best. If people like it, great; if not, onto the next thing. I don't waste my time worrying about how the show's going to do, because what happens, happens. But CBS has been great.

Are you enjoying being on display at this party?
You know what? It reminds me a lot of the cons, except I'm not signing anything, which is nice. It's nice to meet people who like what I do, and this way I'm not answering the same questions over and over again.

Which question do you get the most often?
"How did it feel when you found out you were a Cylon?"

...So I won't be asking that question, then.
Thank you.

I've spoken to other Sci-Fi stars who say that at the cons, there will be tons of screaming and attention during the panels, but as soon as they go out on the floor, nobody will talk to them.
Oh, no, I get stopped. You can't just walk through the floor, because people point and take photos and ask you to take pictures with their baby. It can take hours. But it's great, you know, because these are people who just really loved the show and supported it, and to actually see the people who kept you working is great.

The below article and photo is from The New York Times.

I've only included the parts of the article where THE BRIDGE is mentioned. There's even a quote in there from Aaron.

Funny, You Don't Look Canadian
By KATRINA ONSTAD
Published: June 5, 2009

-----------------------------------------

NBC just introduced "The Listener," about a telepathic paramedic; ABC has picked up "Copper," described as "Grey’s Anatomy" with rookie officers; CBS has scheduled another police procedural, "The Bridge," as a midseason replacement next winter. All three programs are shot in Toronto.

-----------------------------------------

"The Bridge," a CBS-CTV co-production, is another street cop show, this time loosely based on the career of a former Toronto police union boss named Craig Bromell. A controversial figure, he was once accused of being one of several officers who beat up a homeless man. (The case was settled.)

"All around the world people have this uneasy alliance with their police: 'Do what you can to protect us, but if you have to break the rules to do it, don't let us catch you,'" said Alan DiFiore, a show runner of "The Bridge."

While members of the Strategic Response Unit on "Flashpoint" sport Canadian flags on their jackets, "The Bridge" seems to be moving toward a more generic sense of place. "Cops are the same in Italy, Canada, Spain," said the show's star, Aaron Douglas, best known as Galen Tyrol in "Battlestar Galactica." "I'm playing it like Anytown, U.S.A."

This is, in part, because of Mr. Bromell: a Toronto setting could leave the show vulnerable to lawsuits. But a Canadian-generated program set in Anytown, U.S.A., may be philosophically problematic for a heavily regulated television system, one that offers significant tax breaks and subsidies for shows that employ only Canadians in key positions on and off camera. The tax dollars that contribute some of the $2 million-an-episode budget of "The Bridge" are there to promote local productions, part of a larger policy intended to help Canada achieve some kind of artistic independence from the cultural behemoth next door.

If they start making posters of this to put in bus shelters, I want one.

Here is a deleted scene from the S4.5 UK DVD. It is a flashback from the episode DAYBREAK with Boomer and Helo (in a Raptor) and Tyrol, Cally, Prosna and Socinus in the hangar bay.

Aaron and Nicki are sooooo adorable mucking around together :) Why oh why didn't they just leave them as the big brother / little sister relationship? It worked so much better.

CTV had their Upfront yesterday. Still no definite date on when THE BRIDGE will air :(

Below is the CTV Press Release. I've only included the information for THE BRIDGE.
CTV and 'A' Announce Their Fall Schedules

Toronto, ON (June 2, 2009) - CTV, Canada's #1 network, and 'A', now Canada's third-ranked private network, revealed their Fall 2009 programming lineup and schedule today. The announcement was made by Susanne Boyce, President, Creative, Content and Channels, CTV Inc.

"In yet another tumultuous year, we've remained focused on creativity," said Susanne Boyce, President, Creative, Content and Channels, CTV Inc. "Staying #1 requires stability, flexibility and surprise. Strategic moves last year resulted in this past season's biggest hits, while 'A' became a destination network with remarkable growth. We remain committed to producing original Canadian programming that stands shoulder to shoulder with the best on our schedule."

Coming to CTV in 2009/2010 is the eagerly anticipated Original CTV Series THE BRIDGE. Starring Aaron Douglas (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA) as controversial police union head Frank Leo, THE BRIDGE is a gripping one-hour drama about police, power and politics, currently in production and set to premiere on CTV and CBS in midseason.

I finally had a chance to go through the bazillion google alerts for the CBS upfront. Here are some of the great comments/praise for Aaron and THE BRIDGE ....

1:56 p.m.: The Bridge appears to be Norma Rae meets The Wire meets Third Watch. Aaron Douglas looks fabulous; it's great to see him break out from the Battlestar Galactica ensemble.

Source: Watch with Kristin - E! Online

Not too much was shown for the mid-season but we did get a look at Aaron Douglas' police drama The Bridge and Reality series Undercover Boss. Douglas was born to play a cop, at least once in his career, and he seemed to do a fine job in the trailer we saw. The show seems to deal more with politics of policing and unions than the actual police work itself, which I liked. Tassler also played up Douglas' star potential, which she hopes The Bridge will shine a light on.

Source: UGO - TV Blog

The Bridge: This Canadian import stars "Battlestar Galactica's" Aaron Douglas as a beat cop who becomes head of the union for his fellow officers and takes on all the burdens that entails. Douglas shows a ton of charisma in the role, and it's a slightly different take on the typical cop show that could make it worth checking out.

Source: Zap2it

I love the comment about how Nina Tassler (CBS President of Entertainment) "played up Douglas' star potential". It's so great to hear that the network is behind Aaron and the show.
