Convention Appearance CANCELLATION: WOLF G4
Unfortunately Aaron has had to cancel his appearance at the WOLF G4 convention. I know that this probably won't come as a surprise to anyone here because we had a feeling that he may need to cancel due to work commitments (filming of THE BRIDGE in Toronto). But Aaron has just confirmed with me (and given me permission) to pass on the info that he has had to cancel.

The Bridge (on location)
As we all know, Aaron is in Toronto right now filming the MOW THE BRIDGE.

I got home from work tonight to find the following email from him and had to share ...
We're shooting this show mostly outdoors & on location.

So fans can watch..... If they can find us.

:-D
LOL. He's such a tease.

-----------------------------------------------
EDIT: A fan has already spotted him ...

In front of me at the Toronto Whole Foods stood The Chief, Galen Tyrol - also known as Aaron Douglas. I reacted instantly, "You're in Battlestar!" He replied, "Why, yes I am." "You're the Chief and you're awesome," I blurted out. Smooth, MP. "Thanks," he calmly responded, no doubt thinking about the organic fare we has soon to procure. With one last ounce of annoying harassment I demanded, "Who is the fifth cylon?!?!?!!" With an air of loftiness he answered, "Oh, I can't tell you that." "You're such a cylon," I told him. He chuckled a bit, and then we both went our separate ways.

The Day The Earth Stood Still (trailer & Comic-Con)
It was announced on here back in December 2007 that Aaron would be in the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still playing Sgt. Winter. A couple of weeks ago the official trailer was released ....

I asked Aaron if he had an update on whether he was going to be in the movie or not (because in the MediaBlvd interview back in May, he said "I had a very small part in The Day the Earth Stood Still, the new Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly film. I think they might have recast me and re-shot those scenes") and he basically told me the same thing that he said in the MediaBlvd interview and that he hadn't seen the movie and would be surprised if he was in it.

At Comic-Con there is a guest panel for The Day The Earth Stood Still .....

--------------------------------------------------------------
Thursday, July 24, 2008

11:30-1:00 20th Century Fox: The Day The Earth Stood Still and Max Payne
Stars Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly, plus director Scott Derrickson and producer Erwin Stoff, present an exclusive look at The Day The Earth Stood Still, Fox's contemporary reinvention of its 1951 classic. Keanu is Klaatu, an alien whose arrival on our planet triggers a global upheaval. As governments and scientists race to unravel the mystery behind the visitor's appearance, a woman (Jennifer) and her young stepson get caught up in his mission--and come to understand the ramifications of his being a self-described "friend to the Earth." Klaatu Barada Nikto.

The legendary interactive video game Max Payne comes to the big screen, telling the story of a maverick cop determined to track down those responsible for the brutal murder of his family and partner. Hell-bent on revenge, his obsessive investigation takes him on a nightmare journey into a dark underworld. As the mystery deepens, Max is forced to battle enemies beyond the natural world and face an unthinkable betrayal. "Max Payne" himself -- Mark Wahlberg -- will be on hand with Mila Kunis, Ludacris, and director John Moore to discuss turning the game's noirish, hard-hitting, and complex world and characters into a movie event.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Is anyone going to Comic-Con? I dare someone to ask the director during the guest panel if Aaron is going to be in it (LOL). Otherwise, we'll just have to wait until December the 12th to see it in the cinemas and find out.

Aaron cast in new tv show (The Bridge)
It didn't take long for someone to scoop up our very talented man and cast him in a new tv show :)

Aaron is going to be the lead on a new television series for CTV called THE BRIDGE. It is a cop show and his character is called Frank Leo. His character has an ex-girlfriend (yes, I asked him if there was a wife or girlfriend or mistress. lol).

He is flying out to Toronto on Monday to film the 2 hour pilot and won't be back until August 20th. If the show gets picked up, he will need to move to Toronto.

CONGRATULATIONS Aaron. We're so excited and proud of you. xox

NOTE:
This new tv series is (obviously) not the same thing as the short film that Aaron was in, also called The Bridge.

EDIT (1): I did a google search and found this ...
CTV announced the Fall 2008 schedule for CTV, Canada's #1 network
June 2nd, 2008

Original CTV movies scheduled to air in 2008/09 include Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning, The Terrorist Next Door, She Drives Me Crazy, Of Murder and Memory, The Bridge, The Good Times are Killing Me and Playing for Keeps (working title)."

Maybe they decided to make it into a tv show instead of a movie. Or maybe it's going to be a 2 hour movie that will get turned into a tv show if it's a success. Or maybe it's just a coincidence that it's the same name.

EDIT (2): According to the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) "In Production" website, The Bridge is a TV movie. If the website is updated every 2 weeks, there should be another update on July 18th.
(UPDATE July 18th: I checked the website and it has been updated but the info is still the same).

Every two weeks, we publish a listing of productions shooting or about to shoot in and around Toronto. The information provided is current as of July 4, 2008.

THE BRIDGE (WORKING TITLE)
This one hour dramatic cop series in the vein of The Wire and Rescue Me, is set in Toronto and exceeds the speed limit while following politics, law and gang enforcement. Set in a fictious police division, The Bridge spans two disparate worlds, one of affluence and one and one of abject poverty, a combination of high stakes theft and murder to muggings in a world where the victim’s rap sheets run longer than the perps. Produced by Barna-Alper Productions (Da Vinci’s Inquest, Blue Murder) 990 Productions and Jonsworth Productions.

BSG *cry* :'(
Today (Thursday July 10th) is a very sad day. It's Aaron's last day on the set of BSG :'(

Big hugs and kisses to Aaron from all the Angels. And I think I speak for all of us when I say that we will continue to support him on whatever he moves on to next.

If it wasn't for Aaron I never would have watched BSG in a million years (I hate SciFi).  So a huge thank you to him for introducing me to BSG and for all the great real life (and online) friends I have made from being involved in the BSG fandom.

NOTE: It's actually everyone's last day on the set for S4. But we really only care about Aaron :)

UPDATE: Filming finished at 4:15am (Friday, July 11th).

Feel free to leave comments on here for Aaron and I'll send him the link to this thread later tonight.

What BSG character are you?

Cute quiz I stumbled across at   http://quizfarm.com/test.php?q_id=77810    It tells you which BSG character your personality most matches.  I was ALMOST a Tyrol :(  (75% similar) but came out Apollo (81%) instead

BSG TV Movie (update)
Sorry for the delay in updating everyone on the BSG movie. Aaron and I don't get a chance to chat in real time during the week because when I'm at home it's some ungodly hour in Vancouver. And then when he's up, I'm at work and don't have internet access. But anyway ....

Edward James Olmos will be directing the movie and it will be written by Jane Espenson (not David Weddle and Bradley Thompson as previously reported by SyFy Portal). David and Bradley are now writing for a very popular tv show (they start July 7th). I'm not sure if the name of which show they are writing for has been made public yet so I better not mention it by name.

Aaron has been told that there will only be one BSG tv movie and it will shoot in September.

If any of the above info changes, I'll let you know.

And ..... saving the best until last ..... NBC Universal's lawyers have been in contact with Aaron's agent about Aaron being in the movie. Fingers crossed that Aaron signs on the dotted line :)

UPDATE:  Aaron said that the movie will be set during season 1.

UPDATE (July 4th): It's now ok to say the name of the tv series that David and Bradley are writing for because it has been posted online elsewhere. The show is CSI: Las Vegas.

Chief Tyrol Action figure giveaway for donors at Comic-Con's Blood Drive
For anyone going to San Diego Comic-Con this year, Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles (DST) will be giving away a Chief Tyrol Action Figure for donors at the Blood Drive.

DST DONATES BSG'S CHIEF TO SAN DIEGO BLOOD DRIVE!

Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles (DST) is excited to announce plans to once again participate in the annual Blood Drive at this year's San Diego Comic-Con! To emphasize the importance of giving blood, Diamond Select will be donating a limited edition exclusive Ba

Sttlestar Galactica Season 3 Chief Tyrol figure as a giveaway for participating donors!

Chief Tyrol has been featured on Sci-Fi's Battlestar Galactica since 2003 and remains a fan-favorite character. The figure has been limited to 750 pieces, and will only be available through the blood drive – they will not be on sale or given away elsewhere.

"After the last three years' extremely successful campaigns, we're delighted to once again be contributing to the Robert A Heinlein Blood Drive," said Chuck Terceira, Director of Diamond Select Toys. "They've broken three consecutive records, so we're hoping for even more blood to be donated this year!"

In its 31st year, the Robert A. Heinlein Blood Drive has long been a San Diego Comic-Con staple. After science-fiction writer Robert A. Heinlein was ill, he needed several pints of a rare blood type. Following the illness, Heinlein created a personal rule that he would only attend conventions and sign autographs for those that donated blood. This started the Robert A. Heinlein Blood Drive at San Diego Comic-Con in the early 1970's. Last year's 847 pints was the most blood collected at the drive in ten years, thanks in part to Diamond Select Toys' continued support and promotional action figures.

"We are pleased to have Diamond Select on board to support the Blood Drive. Their donation of such a limited edition collectible will certainly help the awareness and success of the annual event," remarked Comic-Con Director of Marketing and Public Relations, David Glanzer.

To register for the Blood Drive, stop by the Blood Drive booth at Comic-Con or visit the Comic-Con website, www.comic-con.org, for additional instructions and information.

BSG TV Movie
"our sources indicate that in fact the first telemovie will focus mainly on three characters (think Cylons) and offers are on the table for those actors currently. Additional co-stars will depend on various actors availability. (As we've reported many are joining other series that are likely to be in production when the BSG film is being shot.) It's expected that Edward James Olmos will appear in the film, since he's also slated to direct it. SyFy Portal recently noted that David Weddle and Bradley Thompson were expected to write the film, however circumstances could change, especially if the current talks between SAG and the AMPTP over the new actors contract were to break down."

I hope that (highlighted in bold above) means that Tyrol will be in the BSG tv movie. Fingers crossed.

Frak Me
You have got to be frakking kidding me!!!!
*headdesk*, *headdesk*, *headdesk*

The Patriot Resource posted the following story on their website ......

-------------------------------------------------
6/15/08: Probably a foiler, but in a post by Aaron Douglas on June 10th [which is why we're tying it to this episode], he said, "Gotta run, have to go to set and kill lee adama.... whoops, was that out loud?" From FedConUSA Forum [As interesting as this is, we just can't buy it. Even though Aaron has managed to slip some other spoilers out there in plain sight before *(Remember the "Dead Cally, Dead Cally" bit?)*

[NOTE: highlight between the * * for the season 4.0 spoiler]
-------------------------------------------------

The above quote was taken from a comment Aaron made on the FedConUSA message board. You can see a copy and paste of that comment below .......

POST #13 (Tuesday, June 10th @ 12:21pm)
By: Chief Tyrol (BSG Cast Member)

OK....NO promises..... BUT....

IF I can make it.......... IF you all can set up a room with a projector and a bunch of seats with drinks for James and I.....

I will go to production and try to get a copy of the episode that will air Friday night and we can all watch it together at 10 with no commercials......

deal?

Oh yeah, one more thing.... people who want to come in to watch have to pay $1 with proceeds going to my charity, The Canadian Cancer Foundation.

cool with you all?

Aaron

Gotta run, have to go to set and kill lee adama.... whoops, was that out loud?

Source  (NOTE: link no longer works because the FedConUSA board was deleted)

The comment was not a spoiler. It was not even a foiler. It was just Aaron mucking around and being silly. Anyone with half a brain could work that out.

[info]raemani if you're reading this, please let the bunnies know (in case they were worried). Although I'm sure no one was stupid enough to think that Aaron was being serious.

New to the group

Just dropping in to say hello to one and all.  I really am a huge fan of Aaron and reading what he's recently been going through with Fed Con...OMG!!  Glad that Aaron enjoys Dragon*Con. I have met Aaron twice now, in 2006 & 2007 at D*C, and I must say he's a SUPER nice guy.  I doubt he will remember, but my husband and I were able to say hi to him in a VERY crowded lobby and direct him to a room he was supposed to be judging on a panel.  It was a bit overwelming for him 'cause it is really easy to get lost when you have to go through 3 (now 4) hotels to find where the frak you're supposed to be.

On a personal note to Aaron... without giving any spoilers away... these last 10 episodes that have aired.... Aaron....WOW!!!!!!  You have really morphed from the cute Mr. McSquishy in love Chief, to the what-the-hell-is-he-beating-up-poor-Cally Chief to the most recent Chief.  HOLY CRAP!!  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what you are doing!!!  Cannot emphasize enough how scared I am of you (Chief) right now.  I would cross the street and yell out if I saw you coming.  Now, I know you're not like that Aaron.  You'll still be Mr. McSquishy cute to me!!

I am honored to be an Aaron's Angel and glad to be able to call you an online friend.  Stay frakking cool!

Welcome to one and all!
Hey everyone ~

This is Amy (aka [info]hijinx400) and I'm the one who started this community almost two years ago for fans of Aaron. I have been reading all these entries about the disastrous FedConUSA fiasco, and some of the stories of new members - and realized that I never actually told my own Aaron story :)

I first met Aaron at Dragon*Con in 2006, where he was in attendance with James Callis, Kate Vernon and Richard Hatch. What first impressed me was that at the first BSG panel, Tahmoh Penikett showed up - unscheduled and unannounced for the con - and when asked how he ended up at D*C, he said that Aaron had called him (in Vancouver) the night before from Atlanta and said, "You have to come to this con." By some miracle of scheduling between the D*C and BSG people, Tahmoh was on a plane and made the first BSG panel - and he was there all weekend.

When my friend and I went to the autograph line later that day, I asked Aaron if he was going to the Colonial Day party that night that was on the schedule for BSG fans. He asked what it was and whether or not actors were invited - I told him that I was pretty sure they wouldn't be turned away ;) We then spent the next 10 minutes (yes, holding up the line - oops!) trying to decipher the Dragon*Con abbreviations to determine whether the "H" meant the party was in the Hilton or the Hyatt - he was THAT determined to be there.

Not only did Aaron arrive at the party, but he brought Tahmoh with him - AND convinced James to show up (for about 10-15 minutes). Aaron arrived first, about 45 minutes into the party. Before anyone else knew he was there, he found me and asked what was going on. I said the party was bordering on lame, the music sucked and he needed to take over - which he promptly did. If you've ever checked out my Flickr photos from that weekend, or the tons of other photos out there from that night, you will see that it was just simply AMAZING. He and Tahmoh stayed right in the thick of things with the fans - signed stuff for auctions, took pics, judged the BSG cosplayers, etc. etc. "Above and beyond" doesn't even begin to describe it.

The pic below was taken by my friend [info]carencey77 that night (I was standing next to her when she took it):

Two important things to note about that photo:

1. That lovely lady who appears to be writing on Aaron's back is [info]meshel73, who rocks hardcore, runs Aaron's fansite AaronDouglasFans.com, and is the co-maintainer of this community.

2. This picture was taken at 2:15 A.M.. The party was over at 2:00 a.m. and Aaron was LITERALLY one of the last people to leave. The clean up crew had to toss him and the last few fans trying to spend a few minutes with him out into the hall.

I was already a fan of the character of Chief Tyrol before I went to D*C. I came home a HUGE fan of Aaron, the person. He is the kind of celebrity that you always HOPE exists, but thought was an unrealistic ideal...until you meet him. Or, in the case of FedConUSA - witness him setting the record straight and protecting the fans and his fellow actors in the best way that he can.

So welcome one and all. We are nearing the 300-member mark and I could not be more pleased.
