Has anyone made any icons of AJ from the television show Higher Ground? It's been off the air for a long time, but it's still my favorite series ever. If you have, can you please link me to where they're posted? I wanted to find some icons of her as Shelby, although if you've made icons of any of the other characters, I'd love to see those too. Thanks in advance! |

'Criminal Minds' star A.J. Cook content with low profile in L.A. Victoria Ahearn Canadian Press

TORONTO (CP) - She's on a hugely popular television series and has worked on films alongside several Hollywood heavyweights - so why isn't Canada's A.J. Cook a household name?
"I go out of my way to make sure I maintain a normal life. I have absolutely no desire - NO desire - to become famous or any of that stuff," the Los Angeles-based actress, born Andrea Joy Cook in Oshawa, Ont., stressed in an interview in Toronto.
"I've never had a publicist. I've just always gone out of my way to remain anonymous."
Fans of CBS's hit crime drama "Criminal Minds" will likely recognize Cook, 28, as Jennifer Jareau - a.k.a. J.J. - the young special agent who acts as the unit liaison for the FBI team, which includes actors Shemar Moore, Paget Brewster and Thomas Gibson.
And anyone who's watched Sofia Coppola's critically acclaimed feature debut, "The Virgin Suicides" from 1999, will know her better as Mary Lisbon, the second oldest of the tormented sisters - a role that was "a unique and amazing opportunity," she said.
With her long blond hair and ocean blue eyes, Cook - who grew up in Whitby, Ont. - looks very much like a starlet but she stays away from the party scene, instead preferring the comforts of her quiet beachfront home with her husband in L.A.
Cook said she's more than willing to do press to promote whatever project she's working on, but she's not into pushing her own name.
"(Some) people today seem to get into this (business) to become famous. It seems like as soon as they get a job they get a publicist and the next thing you know they're strutting a red carpet in a borrowed dress just so they can get their picture taken to be in a tabloid," she said on a hotel patio.
"I mean, it all just seems very backward and it's very strange to me, very foreign. But hey, people are the way they are and what can I do? It just scares me that young people look up to these people and I'm not too sure what they're looking up to, so that's a little scary to me."
Watching her "Virgin Suicides" co-star, Kirsten Dunst get frequently scrutinized in magazines and on celebrity blogs is frightening, said Cook.
"I couldn't think of anything more painful than that," she said after letting out a long sigh.
"I mean, I really, really love my privacy. I'm a very private person and that would just drive me nuts. I don't think I'd leave my house."
Cook, whose resume includes nearly a dozen films (including "Ripper" and "Final Destination 2") and several television series ("Vanished," "Tru Calling," "Goosebumps"), chalks up her stability and need for privacy to her upbringing.
She and her three siblings were raised by their parents in the Mormon faith, and she still carries the same values throughout her personal life and her career, she said.
That means she won't do any "mindless nudity" in a movie or anything that could potentially harm her image. "It is tough because I've had to turn down roles because I didn't think it was necessary for that," she said. "But I don't regret it."
Cook was in Toronto to "get back to her roots," she said, and promote season 3 of "Criminal Minds," set to air in the fall on CTV.
Last season, the series - which follows FBI profilers as they analyze the minds of twisted criminals - saw a huge increase in viewership, despite stiff competition and a saturation of similar detective series.
The crew will start filming new episodes July 9, said Cook, who has worked with real serial-killer profilers and FBI agents to get into her role.
Her character isn't a profiler yet - but she suggested that may change: "We'll see what happens in season 3 if she kind of joins the ranks or what goes on with her."

ok peeps listen up. i did not want to be strict as far as rules and stuff but it seems as tho this group has been infiltrated by ruffians and scoundrels and i do not like that for moral reasons as well as for practical group reasons. (in other words it creeps me out but might also make peeps not want to join if they see crazy comments and think this is some kind of free for all.) so membership is now moderated. rest assured i will not be a meanie and will thusly accept members of all kinds and creeds regardless of what kind of a weirdo you are as long as your goal is to discuss or worship misses cook.
i am including a screen cap of the offending comment just so you folks understand that this was not something i decided lightly. cuz what the dude said was indeed not very nice. ( unnecessary meanness behind the cut ) |
