| asian club meeting |

went to Mesa CC's Asian club meeting. didn't know anyone, but decided I ought to expand my network and meet up with asian people. turned out to be pretty awesome. met a lot of cool people.. and most importantly, met asian musicians. two dudes who play guitar and a guy who sings fluently in Japanese. I guess we're gonna meet up again this sunday to see if there's any synergy among us. we shall see what happens. |

| Work, Money and Boredom |

The meeting went well. They said it was a 2-2 and half hour thing but all of it only took me a little bit over an hour. Scored pretty damn well on the tests (though Payroll is my weakest, but that's okay because I will never, ever do payroll work. That shit is just as bad as taxes.) But overall, I need to call them up if I tell Pick N' Save to take their job and shove it up their ass. It's still kind of a risky to quit a permanant job for a temp job. Especially now that I gotta start paying back my student loans (about $130 bucks a month.)
So the search is still going. Did get a call about doing stuff with senior retirement plans around these parts, but it sounds more like a sales job than an accountant one. Plus I'd have to go to Germantown just to hear more details.
Did take a couple more hours at the Pharmacy since I like that better than dealing with the work upfront (if nothing because it's getting away from one group of people with the belief that they are entitled to everything, but you get another group in return.) Like I said before, kind of need the money for loan payments.
Tomorrow though? Work and hopefully, there will be a copy of Silent Hill: Homecoming waiting to be rented. Working on My Name is Earl and Bones right now. Maybe I'll rent Elder Scrolls IV, see if I can fiddle around with the game to make Solid Snake in there.
I'm also reading various Let's Play articles and Pluto.
Speaking of manga, I have been getting bored with alot of series lately. Outside of One Piece and Eyeshield 21 (plus the occasional Hajime no Ippo), I've stopped reading shonen titles all together. Anime is an even slower front, though I've got Bartender and a couple episodes of Death Metal City to watch.
So...suggestions? Anything remotely interesting? (Note: Don't waste your time on typing "Gurren Lagann" or "Gundam 00".) |

Megan, one of the first people I met from AZHP was having a goodbye party, except she managed to secure a job in Phoenix just a few days before the party so she's actually not moving out of AZ. so we all met at Frank's house and had a good time. there were probably around 15 people there. hadn't seen Megan for about a year. hadn't seen a lot of the other AZHP people for awhile too, maybe for a few months.

I did not have a legit reason for having my shirt off other than dramatic effect
going home from the party, brandon played Save Ferris in the car. he says he's interested in playing trumpet again. gackto's picking up trombone again. my trombone is in the shop for repairs. who knows, maybe I'll be able to complete that middle school / high school dream of forming a ska band. |

Seriously, I was in a boss battle with two TIGERS! And I used a special that fight-exclusive move that goes like this: Tiger charges at you, you punch tiger between eyes, TIGER DIES. (Of course, you have to knock away one whole health bar off of it first.)
Plus how many games give you the chance to uppercut a goddamn tiger?!
Go out and buy both Yakuza games, unless you hate manly, awesome things. Then go play "Bratz: The Movie: The Game" or whatever, ya pansies. |

Paris's mom gave me free tickets to the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden. I sort of forgot I had them until Chelsea mentioned yesterday that she worked in the gift shop. so! today, I convinced a few pals to come with me.
me, gackto, brandon, bobby, and fran. in a hut thingy. I think it was a Pima hut or something.

we commented that the cactus looked like it had a testicle on it. laughter ensued. picture was taken.

brandon mentioned that this would be a great place for a cosplay photo shoot. then we started talking about how there don't seem to very many good photographers among the AZ con scene. there are some people who have really expensive cameras, but it seems that they still take crappy pictures. from what I understand, expensive camera = more manual functions, and people who just do point-and-shoot won't magically take better pictures with an expensive camera.
I was too lazy to learn the manual settings on my camera, so I didn't get any good pictures of the awesome monarch butterflies. after today, I think I will take some time to learn them settings. there were also rabbits and quails, but they were too fast for me. they were gone before I had whipped my camera out for the shot.
we went to pita jungle afterwards and had dinner. a sunday well-spent. after the botanical garden, I found myself with a new appreciation for Arizona. sort of nice to know the history behind the state you live in, I guess. |

yesterday I went to Phoenix Atomic Comics Animefest with Bobby and Rob. After that, Chelsea joined us and we ate at this Italian place. but before that, we went to the neighboring Village Market and saw this:
after that, I went to Woda's and I saw rage, 8 months pregnant. last time I saw her, she was thin and not pregnant. was pretty crazy. |
