Angel was born in Ireland as Liam, who only a few facts are known about; he had serious father issues (The Prodigal), liked to start his day with a brawl and a drink then end it with a whore (The Prodigal), and was Catholic (Becoming I). Those traits followed him all his life, so, until one understands Liam, one can't understand Angelus or Angel. This essay will concern itself with the historical facts of those traits and how Liam fit in with them. The three sections start with the fathers and sons in the 1700s, then the vices and excesses that were open, a general rundown of the role of the Catholic religion in Ireland and Liam's life and lastly the wake.
