Actually, I have a question... I'm turning 21 in February, and since I'd rather avoid the LOL IZ GUN GIT U DRUNKZ idiots that week, does anyone know of any straight edge shows in Philly around then? I have absolutely no exposure to the real-life edge scene thus far; I just sit quietly in my room being sober. Haha. It'd be nice to go out and meet some people.

He told me about being straight edge and how its not really something you go around claiming to be but something you do for yourself. So I got into it, im glad I made that decision.

have you girls ever gotten like, praised at a show for like dancing or singing or something?
i mean, idk. i just find it really funny that guys get so excited when they see girls in the pit, or on a pile on. for the most recent example, I went and saw agnostic front on my birthday, and like these 3 guys gave me highfives for "seeing a girl up there."

like, its cool that you get props and some form of respect for it, idk. but at the same time, its kinda like alright, because I have a vagina it means i cant dance or sing? i'm not saying anything against it. i just find it funny that guys get so excited about it. idk, am i the only person this has happened to? haha

I’ve recently claimed edge. I want to change who I use too be and what i have become for the better in life.I have gotten high I have gotten drunk. But that shit eventually gets old. The same shit happens. Soon you start regretting things, when you always told your self you wouldn’t. The drugs, alcohol and sleeping around changed who I was, I was doing all that shit just to fit in. i was getting hurt or hurting someone each time i dig drugs or drank. my parents hated me for the longest time, i had my younger siblings asking me what was wrong with me when i had just smoked myself retarded, i lied to them and said i was alright. i hurt them they knew what was going on the whole time. just i was way too into my new friends and the shit they were doing i didnt notice the people i was hurting. I hated who I was becoming, an alcoholic, drug addict a slut. Choosing to claim edge is a life style I’m going to be living for now on. I don’t want to be hating myself and the things I do for the rest of my life. I will be the odd one out who turns down a joint who turns down a swig of alcohol and who will not be your one night stand, because that is no longer apart of my life. 7/28/07

Hey :) I'm new, so I thought I would say hello to everyone.

I'm kind of new to this and kind of not. I have quit drinking a couple times and relapased but I am working on staying totally sober. I feel so great and I'm so creative and well balanced when i don't drink...So that is where I am right now.
I don't do drugs, or smoke. I'm vegan and I enjoy trying to be as healhty as I can.
My story starts with anxiety and depression that lead to self medicating (alcohol) but as time went on I discovered all alcohol did was mask the problem and cause more problems.. even causing depression/anxiety to be worse.

So my point of joining this community is to meet other people who are sXe and get to know them.
