A few years ago my husband and I took a cruise on the Hudson out of Tarrytown. It was about a 2 hour tour and went as far north as Bear Mountain. Despite an extensive search on the web I have been unable to find the name of this company. I'm thinking that maybe they're no longer in business. Does anyone have any info on this?

lifeguard

I'm leaving for school in the middle of august, and i need someone to take over my lifeguarding job. It's at a condo in Yonkers. They pay $15/hr, and you'll be working 3 days/week. It is honestly the easiest job I've ever had. You need to have up to date lifeguard & cpr certifications. I need someone starting August 16 to work through labor day, when the pool closes. If you're interested comment here with how i can contact you, or email me at theapplebranches@gmail.com.

i can't dance! and i need a new haircut!

Two questions that I'm hoping the collective wisdom of the Westchester interwebs can help me with.

So I was at a club the other weekend and it was brought to my attention that I can't dance. I mean, really can't dance. I can fold my arms, scowl, and bob my head, and I can jerk around like I've got my toe in a socket, but although these things may be appropriate at a Lightning Bolt show, apparently they don't cut it when the DJ is spinning hip-hop and top 40.

I called up a couple of local dance studios, but they told me that they only teach ballroom and Latin dance, not "freestyle dance," which is apparently what I'm looking for. Is there anywhere in the 914 that will teach me how to not make a fool of myself down on the disco floor? For cheap, preferably?

Second question: haircuts. It's time I got a good one rather than just going to the cheapest barber I can find, but I don't know what to ask for. So I've decided to suck up the financial cost, go to a stylist, and ask them what they recommend I do with my light-n-fluffy mess of static cling. I'm not looking for a teenage-scenester haircut or a horrible gelled-up lawyer 'do, just something that says "I'm kind of indie and I take decent care of myself!" Can anyone recommend a good men's hair stylist? My upper cost limit would be around $50.

Start the New Year off right with Ladies Who Launch and Premier Athletic Club.

Thursdays, Feb 8- March 1, 9-11 a.m.
Premier Athletic Club
2127 Albany Post Road
Montrose
Ask about our discount for active Premier members!

What is the Ladies Who Launch Incubator?
This innovative dream-developing group comes to us straight from New York City and brings with them a wealth of experience in creating, inspiring and building successful businesses by and for women. LWL helps make that dream you've been mulling over for years, a smashing reality. Likewise, if you have already got a dream business off the ground, but have ideas for affiliate projects (websites, forums, tours, books, etc.) that you just haven't gotten around to yet, use this opportunity to flesh out plans to get them sprung into action in an effective and exciting way.

After spending four weeks brainstorming and strategizing with a group of 12 other entrepreneurially-minded women, you'll have a more concrete sense of how to accomplish your goal.

For more information, please visit Ladies Who Launch

Super Bowl Tickets!

I have just FIVE Superbowl Raffle tickets left, so if you want 'em, you better snag them quickly!
The raffle is being run by the Hendrick Hudson Lions Club, and only 1,000 tickets are being sold. If you buy one ticket, your chances of winning the Superbowl trip are 575,000 times better than the odds of you getting struck by lightning, and 5,999,999 times better than you getting bitten by a shark.
You're also more likely to win the Super Bowl Vacation Trip than you are to pick a four-leaf clover or catch a ball in a Major League Baseball Game! How do you like them apples?
The winner will get a 5-day, 4-night trip to see the Super Bowl in SUNNY MIAMI, airfare, hotel, rental car, Game Day Brunch, Saturday tail Party sponsored by a Special Guest, Tickets to the NFL Experience, The BIG GAME, Superbowl Program & Bag, all breakfasts, taxes, and gratuities.
Tickets are just $20, and all proceeds benefit the Hendrick Hudson Lions Club, and all the good work we do for the community. These make a better stocking stuffer than those scratch-off Lotto tickets...and your chances of winning are a lot better!
Please email me at Michelle.Carter@gmail.com right away if you want a ticket. You can paypal
money to that address. The winning ticket will be drawn January 4.
Thanks!

Local Fundraising Event

I wanted to share more information with you about the fundraiser I told you I was helping with.

Laurie Martone Foster is 34, married, and a mother of two young boys, in kindergarten and nursery school. She was born and raised in Verplanck, and is a graduate of Hendrick Hudson High School. When her husband got a new job that didn't provide hospitalization, they felt they couldn't afford the nearly $1,000 per month it would cost for them to provide insurance for themselves. So, they put the kids on Child Health Plus, and went without insurance themselves.

Last spring Laurie felt a lump and eventually discovered she had breast cancer. She has gone through a complete round of chemo, has been hospitalized several times, and is currently undergoing radiation treatment. Unfortunately, the costs for this type of treatment without
insurance are incredibly expensive, and their bills are well over $20,000 at this point. Their home has been mortgaged, they've spent all the assets they can, but with Laurie not working and bills as high as they are, saying it's hard to make ends meet is an understatement.

So, her neighbors are getting together to help her. We're selling raffle tickets for $10 each. The winner will get a 7-day, 6- night trip for two to see the Pro Bowl in Honolulu. Included is round-trip airfare from NY, fresh flower lei greeting at the airport, all transfers, accomodations at the Pacific Beach Hotel, and a Pro Bowl MVP package, including passes to a pre-game tailgate party with NFL players, coaches and s. The winning ticket will be drawn at a special dinner on January 17 at the Crystal Bay Restaurant in Peekskill. Tickets to the dinner are $45 each, but you do NOT need to be present to win.

In addition, we are creating a journal that will be distributed at the dinner, and we are selling ads. If you would like to donate or purchase an ad, please let me know, and please feel free to forward this information on to anyone you think might be interested.

Raffle tickets can be purchased through me. If you'd like to sell tickets at work, let me know
and I'll get them for you. Also, if raffle tickets aren't your thing, but you'd like to help out, we're also accepting gift cards on Laurie's behalf to places like the A&P, Shoprite, Wal-Mart, etc.

We ask that all checks be made out to cash (preferably) or Gloria Martone (Laurie's mother).

Please contact me if you have any questions, suggestions, or if you wish to help.

Great Holiday Event Dec. 2

Ladies Who Launch Holiday Trunk Show Coming Soon
The international network for women with motivation and a dream is bringing a taste of the good life to Garrison December 2!

GARRISON- Original. Amazing. Beautiful. Unique. These are just a few of the ways that products created by Ladies Who Launch Incubator members have been described. Let everyone else go to the mall: you have a plethora of one-of-a-kind gifts to choose from by attending the Ladies Who Launch Holiday Trunk Show in Garrison- perfect for the men, women, children and pets in your life. The gift is in the giving; but you will feel extra great when everyone asks where on earth you found such cool loot...and you know you got it at a fabulous price.

On December 2, from 12- 4 p.m.: Relax with friends and peruse the goods at the beautiful St. Phillips Church on Route 9D, across from Garrison Elementary School. The trunk show is also a potluck community event, so people are encouraged to bring treats to share with other attendees.

Various service providers will also be on hand to give consultations and strations on subjects like fashion, organization, makeup application and interior design. There will also be activities to keep your children amused, so bring them along!

Ladies Who Launch is a proud supporter of the Northern Westchester Women’s Shelter, and asks each attendee to donate a pair of new pajamas and a cuddly toy to be distributed to the shelter. Often, women get away from dangerous situations with little more than their courage and determination for a better life. A pair of soft, warm pajamas for that first night away, and a cuddly toy for their children, is a small token to show our support for these brave women as they start their new journey.
October is Pumpkin Fest Time!

The Hendrick Hudson Lions Club is sponsoring their annual Pumkkin Festival, which will held on Sunday (Oct. 22) at 2 p.m. at Hendrick Hudson High School.

The fest is free, and features pumpking painting, special prizes, face painting, games, and balloons. Some of your favorite costumed characters will be there, and we encourage you and your kids to wear your costumes too. Pumpkins and home-made pies will be for sale, and the club will also be collecting old eyeglasses for recycling.

Since 1917, Lions clubs have offered people the opportunity to give something back to their communities. From involving members in projects as local as cleaning up an area park or as far-reaching as bringing sight to the world's blind, Lions clubs have always embraced those committed to building a brighter future for their community. Today with more than approximately 45,000 clubs in 200 countries and geographical areas, Lions have expanded their focus to help meet the ever-increasing needs of our global community. Our programs are continually changing to meet new needs and greater demands, but our mission has never wavered: "We Serve." The Hendrick Hudson Lions Club has been serving the Cortlandt and Peekskill areas of our community for over 50 years.

We hope to see you there!

Looking for people...

If this isn't allowed, I apologize, and feel free to delete this. I saw a couple post in Toronto area communities like this one and I decided to give it a try.

I'm looking for some people. It's a long story why, and if you REALLY want to know I can tell you... but to turn a long story short, my friend died a few summers ago and I talked to his friends for a bit, then lost touch with them completely. I'd love to talk to them again, give them some things I have, and get some closure. So if you know anything about the following people and how I can get in touch with them, I'd greatly appreciate it.

(Josh Ryder, died July 11, 2002)
His younger brothers, Francis Ryder, Matthew Ryder and Sean Ryder.

His friends, Allison Tan, Angela Keaton, "Danny" (don't know the last name), Scott and Lisa (don't know last names, but they got married a few years ago young, and Scott went to military school with Josh).

(Pastor) Bryan Gadzinski.

Thanks!
Steph :)

x-posted
