Ticklish pain in abdomen over years?

For a few years now, every so often I'll get this ticklish pain in the right side of my stomach. It's almost as if it's a small ticklish line of pain running right across to my navel, then my navel will hurt and it will go away. At other times, my navel will hurt and it will go away. Sometimes it'll happen on my left side only lower by my hip over a small expanse and then it'll go away.

Recently, I've been getting sick of it happening and I've been going through natural alternatives to what it could be; colon cleanse, etc. I don't have a fever, or any kind of extreme symptom besides the pain. It's not tender or hurts when I touch it. With the exception of recently feeling a little nauseous in the morning but I think that's from the natural alternatives.

Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone else know what it is?

(btw, I'm not sexually active, therefore I'm not pregnant. Unless it's the second coming of Christ. lol)

I'm glad I found this community because at the moment I really cannot afford a doctor and would like some input.
About a month ago I had a terrible flu. I started birth control a month before that (Yaz). I was pretty much almost better from my flu when I fainted. I was doing laundry, I felt really nauseous and dizzy and tried running to the bathroom. I awoke in my living room and don't know how long I was out, but probably not long. For the first 10 seconds I didn't know who I was or where I was and I couldn't focus on things, I swear I heard whispers and it was just scary. I came back to reality after those 10 seconds. I was really sweaty and my mom who took my blood pressure said it was really low. She thought it was dehydration but she called my sisters childcare doctor and he said that passing out from that isn't probable.
Since then, my blood pressure has been insanely high. It's usually 105/65 but I test it multiple times daily and its anywhere from 126/80 to 146/65. I stopped taking my birth control because I have a feeling it had something to do with that.
It's been two weeks and my blood pressure is still high, I feel my heart racing sometimes, and when I drank alcohol one night my heart felt like it was beating so fast it was going to explode.
I used to be slightly anemic so I take daily vitamins. I take a multi-vitamin, a calcium supplement with vitamin d, a vitamin b supplement, and omega-3 fish oil.
I'm not overweight, I'm 5'5 127 pounds. I've been eating 4 servings of fruits and 4 servings of vegetables daily and basically following the DASH diet and yet my blood pressure has not dropped.

I'm very concerned, I'm only 20 and this all started when I started taking birth control. I'm not sure if its that, my slight anemia, my flu, or something else. I can't really exercise for long now, my heart races too fast.

I know I need to see a doctor but until then, any thoughts on whats going on with me?

Yesterday...

I was at work doing my thing, and I got really really really sick. Now, this isn't the first time this has happened and I'm sure it won't be the last. I don't know where to go with this or whom to go to. But it sure scares the hell outta me. I got up, took my pills, ate breakfast, had coffee, started working around, filling, getting everything opened up, nothing out of the ordinary. I'm on the phone taking refills, and I start to notice this overwhelming feeling, like my ears pop almost everything is muffled, and all I hear is ringing, I'm very dizzy, and nauseous, I feel extremely faint, if I don't sit, i'm going to fall down and pass out and not come back up, my body feels like it weighs a ton, my vision goes fuzzy, and I can feel my heart pounding. I was petrified. It took about a half an hour for me to start coming back to normal, and the woman sitting next to me who was waiting for a script, I was trying to explain it to her, because I thought I was going to pass out if I didn't, and she was telling me I had no color whatsoever. What should I do???? Ugh, I'm scared, I was hoping it wouldn't keep happening, but it's happening again.

Sarah

Could it be a type of seizure?

I've been having some neuro difficulty as some of you may already know, good news is MS was ruled out, bad news, in search of a new neuro, one who isn't as dismissive,-- he didn't examine me or hardly talked to other than it was fibromyalgia related or stress. I called my rheum who said get a neurologist immediately, they are serious symptoms that need adressing. SO besides the other symptoms, that I will repeat at the bottom later on, Occaisionally maybe every month, a few times a month, sometimes less,

I get strange attacks, my hearing goes, I can hardly walk, double vision, my body sorta moves very slowly or becomes limp, I'm conscious but confused. Often my stomach hurts, and the pain in my body is more noticeable, as well as my breathing. Speech is affected too, and my body is very shaky. It's not brought on by any type of situation, no one place in particular, but I have a sense ahead of time usually when i'm not feeling well that it might happen. I usually take that time to be out of the way of other people or disrupt anything. I've mentioned it to a few people, and I've started to look at types of seizures, and one sounds very similar, (I also plan to discuss it with my opthamologist to see what he thinks)

Simple partial seizures (SPS - formerly known as focal seizures):
These seizures are characterised by strange or unusual sensations, for example odours or visual abnormalities. Other characteristics of SPS include sudden or restless movement, hearing distortion, stomach discomfort, and a sudden sense of fear. Alteration of consciousness or memory is generally not associated with simple partial seizures.

As mentioned before, partial seizures are localised to one region of the brain. Each region of the brain is responsible for certain body functions, sensations, and movements. By observing the motor manifestations and sensory responses during SPS, the neurologist may be able to determine the brain region affected. This may help determining which drugs are best for the treatment of each individual’s epilepsy.

The ICES has categorised simple partial seizures into 4 main categories, motor, sensory, psychic, and autonomic – each category has several types of SPS.

If this is the case, what should I do, should it be my primary neuro concern? Any epileptics out there or anyone who has had a similar experience? How is it treated? And most importantly...diagnosed?

Other neuro symptoms:

Jerky Eye Movements
Muscle weakness - partial or mild paralysis
Loss of muscle tone causing stiffness, pain and restricting free movement of affected limbs
Involuntary contraction of muscles
Problems with posture
Jerking and twitching muscles, Tics
Involuntary Leg Movements, especially bothersome at night
Partial numbness, tingling, buzzing and vibration sensations
Pain without apparent cause, burning, itching
Facial pain
Loss of coordination
Shaking when performing fine movements
Loss of ability to produce rapidly alternating movements, for example to move to a rhythm
Problems coordinating speech, stuttering
Infrequent or irregular bowel movements
Urinary hesitancy and retention
Short-term and long-term memory problems, forgetfulness, slow word recall
Swallowing problems
Fatigue

Symptoms

So, I managed to put together a list of all the symptoms I could think of, in roughly chronological order. "Early February" is when I went to the ER, and most of the symptoms in that section showed up within a period of two days. Everything else showed up more gradually, and it was the suddenness of those symptoms that prompted me to go in.

Without further ado:
Symptoms in approximate order of appearance:

Late December/early January:
-mild weakness in hands
-tremor in fingers when bent
-frequent dizzy spells
-shock-like sensation in wrists when bending elbows (lasted one day)
-occasional sudden muscle jerks in legs when resting, with brief, sharp pain in sole of foot
-frequent small twitches in feet and legs, especially left side

Mid to late January:
-twitching in right ring finger when held in certain positions
-clumsiness in hands
-tremor in wrists, elbows, and shoulders when in motion
-occasional partial numbness/tingling in lower arms
-increased weakness in hands

Early February:
-mild weakness in right leg
-frequent vertigo
-balance problems
-nearly constant fatigue
-sharp pressure below second knuckle on right ring finger triggers twitching
-partial numbness in face, neck, shoulders, and arms (varies from mild to moderate), occasionally with tingling/pins and needles, especially right side
-frequent buzzing sensation in head, neck, and chest, sometimes through whole body
-occasional dull pain through shoulders, arms, and hands
-frequent ringing/buzzing in ears

Mid February:
-increased weakness in leg
-increased fatigue
-increased vertigo
-infrequent shock-like sensations in wrists return
-"elevator" feeling
-occasional feeling as if walking or standing sideways
-occasional partial numbness in whole body
-frequent small twitches in arms, hands, face, and neck
-stiffness in hands and wrists
-occasional mild headache, front left
-slight blurriness in left eye, especially when tired
-occasional flashes of light, often with eyes closed

Symptoms in general are worse at night, and balance problems, weakness, and tremors seem to get worse with heat (in the shower, rooms with heaters, car parked in the sun, etc) and exertion (walking fast, climbing stairs, prolonged standing).

A few symptoms have appeared in the past. I had twitching in my right thumb for about two months when I was 16, which disappeared for a while then returned for a few weeks in both thumbs, then again in both thumbs and other fingers. About three years ago, several symptoms appeared together and lasted three or four weeks: partial numbness in left arm (slight numbness has remained ever since), shock-like sensations in wrists, vertigo, headaches, vision blurriness, and flashes of light.

It ended up a much longer list when I actually got everything written down than I expected it to be. :-\

My name is Anita, and...um, I always feel awkward introducing myself. :-)

So...three weeks ago I went to the ER with a variety of neurological symptoms. They'd been building up since just after Christmas, but I tried not to pay too much attention and hoped it would go away on its own, until it got to the point where it was kind of scary. So I spent all night in the ER and basically nothing happened (aside from repeated questions from various nurses, a somewhat dizzying CT scan, and a phlebotomist who had to go searching around a bit). The ER doc said that it may be a pinched nerve (which would have to be in my neck to affect as much of my body as it has), but that — although I'm a little young for it to show up — MS isn't ruled out, especially considering I have an aunt with MS. I'm a pessimist, so I've been constantly worrying myself about MS instead of concentrating on the possibility of a pinched nerve.

I have an appointment with a neurologist on Thursday morning. I'm currently working on writing down everything I can think of for the doctor: all the symptoms I've noticed, which ones come and go and which are constant, things that seem to make them worse, and about a few of the symptoms I've experienced in the past. I noticed at the hospital that every time someone would question me about my symptoms, I'd forget something, or they'd interupt before I finished listing, or both, so I wanted to get it all down on paper.

Any of you who have been to a neurologist, can you give me an idea of what to expect? I'm a little nervous. I haven't really been to any doctor in a few years, and I've never been to a neurologist before. Speaking of nervousness, any advice for things I can do to keep from worrying myself to death?

Thanks!

I finally tried to take pix of these stupid ulcer things, that are actually looking more like discoid/cutaneous lupus, so that I will do. But mine hurt, and are bigger and more gross looking that a picture could do justice, and they come up just about anywhere. Rheumy thinks it might be, but ANA doesn't come back positive.

leg

Arm

Arm

gross...

But hey, lets see here,
let me update the list for personal reasons so I'm not going crazy.

Raynauds
Fibro/CFS
Osteoarthritis
Asthma
Migraines
IBS-C
((Possible lupus diagnosis hanging over my head))
Depression
Anxiety
PTSD
Restless legs
Cognitive/memory issues
Chronic Pain
TMJ

And for medications sake:

Celexa
Verapamil ER
Xanax
Asmanex
Albuhterol neb/inhaler
Multi v
Calcium + D
Tizanidine
Alesse
Nasonex
Singulair
Advair 200/50
Tramadol
Zelnorm
Relpax

And with my memory, God knows what I've forgotten.
I wrote a letter the other night to my rheumy. I don't rememeber of the top of my head all of the things I wrote, but here's what I do remember: The closeness of of fibromyalgia, and CFS, and the closeness of symptoms of lupus, and especially with these skin ulcers, which have recurred, and sort of spread, I've got new ones. The anemia, fatigue, frequent sensitivities, reynauds possibility in feet, RLS, heartbeat in ears, pain levels, and sleep issues. There's just a lot going on and even fevers.

Here's something from lupus.org, if three below are right, you need to talk to your doctor about lupus. I wouldn't be so worried, if they hadn't told me that it really could be a possibility.
_____________________________________________________________________________________

It is important to know the symptoms of lupus and to know if you are at risk for this disease. Here is a simple test to help you. Read each question and answer it in terms of your current AND past health status.

If you answer "yes" to at least three of the questions below, the Lupus Foundation of America suggests that you talk to your doctor about lupus.

Brain And Nervous System

Have you ever had a seizure or convulsion or become confused for no known reason?
Have you had unexplained fever higher than 100º F / 38º C for more than a few days?

Heart or Lungs

Have you felt chest pain while taking deep breaths?

Kidneys

Have you ever been told you have protein in your urine?
Have you ever had swelling in your legs and ankles on both sides at the same time?

Blood and Circulatory System

Have you ever been told you have anemia, low white cell count, or low platelet count?
Do your fingers and/or toes become pale or red or blue and numb or painful in the cold?
Have you ever had blood clotting problems or a miscarriage?

Eyes, Nose, and Mouth

Have you had sores in your mouth or nose that lasted for more than a week?
Have you developed irritation or dryness in your eyes or mouth for more than a few weeks?

Stomach and Intestines

Have you had unexplained weight loss?
abdominal pain that is worse when you breathe?

Muscles and Joints

Have you had stiff, tender, and swollen joints that are worse in the morning?
Have you felt extremely tired, weak, or achy for days or weeks, even after plenty of sleep?

Skin

Has your skin ever broken out after being in the sun, but it’s not sunburn?
Have you ever had redness or rash across your nose and cheeks in the shape of a butterfly?
Has your hair fallen out for no reason?

I wrote this full notebook page letter, very calmly speaking, just explaining my concerns, and posible medication reactions or interactions whatever.

I think those were the pretty important ones.

Well this year has been a doozy for me. Actually, it has bee since two years ago. Thought everything was going great, really. I have been losing weight now for two years, I have lost 127lbs. this is a good thing. Gods, that is a whole person. Cannot believe I let myself get so disgusting and repulsive. Anyway, I'm not so bad now so...

Yeah, two years ago I was diagnosed with cervical dysplasia CIN 2. I went home and cried and cried for hours. They scheduled a biopsy, and two came back CIN 1 which is not bad, it's the 2 that was. Those procedures hurt. BAD. I then went a few months later, to get a loop. When I got there, she was puzzled and said that my pre cancerous lesion had "healed" there was nothing there. She almost did not do it and then did anyway :| I didn't know this but apparently she took the samples and sent them to the lab. Thank God,they came back normal.

Theeeeeeen last year I feel backwards on my icey stairs which my lanlord failed to sand and hurt my back. Two weeks later, I fall down the same icey stairs and busted my knee pretty good. I heard it snap just like a chicken bone. Thought for sure it was broken, but guess not. So, they loaded me up on pain killers (yay)theeeeeen I got hit by a plow truck two weeks later, I was backing out of driveway he came whipping down that hill at 35+ mph. Got whiplash. Im now thinking WTF? ANd am really fregin freaked out.

Okkk right, then I freak out because I'm having butt issues. literally. WTF? Was going to get a colonoscopy, buuuuuut thennnnn something ELSE came up. Emergency Gallbladder surgery. Now, I have this dull ache in my lower abdomen...does anyone feel bad for me yet?? I can't help but feel singled out for whatever from above, does anyone else feel this way? (~_~)

Hi everyone,

I went to my NP yesturday and I'm so glad that she is understanding. She said that conditions like Fibromyalgia and CFS are in a newer school of thinking, and that many providers overlook or ignore them because they are set in their ways. She is fantastic, and I apologized because when she originally brought up fibro, I said absolutely not. But one person can only wake up everyday in pain, stay that way and be exhausted the whole way. She wanted me to be tested for Epstein Barr and seemed very sure that it could have something to do with it. She also noted that I once again, or I should say continuously have a fever on and off for quite some time, but I have heard that where there is inflammation in the body, a fever may be present. Does anyone else have that? Or that the lymph nodes in the neck are signifcantly large? Mine are pretty big all the time. As for the IBS she will be sending me to a GI doctor to rule out anything more serious. As it seems, I am waiting for the lab results back, she said she would call as soon as they got in. Hope today is a relatively pain free day or at least a little more bearable for all of you.

PS: As I was taking my meds this morning, I kida laughed to myself, just pills alone I noticed my hand was overflowing, ignoring inhalers for today, I think i'll be okay.

Sarah

Hi there,

first time poster I think, long time lurker. School ended and I got caught up in work. I was having a lot of issues, dizziness, bad allergies, frequent infections (eye, sinus, ear, other upper and lower resp) and let's see, migraines again, muscle and joint pain, fatigue,my back is bothering me again and it hasn't since my breasts were reduced, it's back with a vengeance and I go to bed and wake pretty much everday/night with a headache, loss of appetite for awhile, asthma flares, stomach cramps, and pains, and nausea. Trying and trying everything. So far we've come up with, possible orthostatic hypertension, my ears keep getting worse, but we'll put that on a back burner I guess, take another antibiotic unwillingly for another sinus infection, which didn't work. Every day I deal with this. I'm always on the look out for answers, and friends, and after a failed, scary relationship, I again question what's going on with me. My stomach has been weird, crampy feeling almost whenever I think about food, have eaten, am eating or just anything food related. For awhile I thought it was dairy related, but that was just one bad experience and hasn't occured with dairy since. I feel whiny, and I hate that. She threw out a possible visit to an ENT about my sinuses. Maybe I have fibro. She thought I had mono, I don't. I had anemia of chronic disease supposedly, but the limits for it, I was very very slightly anemic. Not even enough to cause fatigue she said, but to take iron any way. I took fiber for awhile for constipation and it didn't help. I took a hefty amount too. I feel like I'm always in the bathroom. What is going on? Does anyone else have anything similar? This is just the jist, I could go on forever about how I feel and experiences and things. I won't bore you, I hope to hear from you,

Sarah

Let me preface by saying that every time I read a post by a virtual American friend saying something like *I'm having a problem with my Medicare* or *My insurance doesn't cover...* or *I can't afford to go to the doctor again*, I kiss the ground & thank my stars that I live in Canada.

I will try to keep this short.

A Thursday in July 2005, I collapsed from low blood pressure/heat stress in my factory job. It was uncomfortably warm, but not as hot as I've worked in before. I also drink several litres of water a day & believed I was hydrated, though I had skipped breakfast that morning - an unusual occurrence. My head was light, it was hard to think straight, my fingers & feet were tingling & pulsing. I ended up outside, shirt off, legs being held up & having water dumped on me.

By the time the ambulance arrived my fingers, mouth and tongue had seized, & my feet were very tingly - classic heat-stress symptoms. The ER Dr gave me the weekend off & I went back to work the following Monday. I saw my GP on the Tuesday & he prescribed 3 litres of Gatorade every day (I bought out one grocer's entire stock b/c it was on sale with no limit ;) ). I currently make due equally well by adding a 1/4 tsp of salt to every 750mL of water, drinking at least 1.5L per day.

A mild lightheadedness has continued perpetually since then.

Mid-August, about 5 weeks later, the more severe lightheadedness & tingling in my extremities started to return. I immediately told my SV & he sent me home in a cab. The next morning I woke up, dizzy out of my head while still lying in bed. I couldn't move other than to roll sideways slightly & I panicked a bit - I thought I was going to die. The dizziness subsided somewhat & I called a cab to take me to the ER. They ran all the standard blood sugar, kidney function & liver function tests, said everything was normal & sent me home.

My GP has kept me off work ever since. The constant dizziness was extreme in the beginning. Although my Dr didn't take away my license, I was afraid to drive b/c rotating my head to look both ways severely disoriented me. We spent 8 weeks waiting out the assumed inner-ear disorder - possible ear infection, Labyrinthitis or Meniere's disease - no luck. Another possibility could be a mini-stroke that is too small for our current technology to detect.

As of now, I've had several tests - one for demyelination (negative), an MRI (negative), an audiogram (slight asymmetry at 2000Hz in right ear but otherwise normal), a field vision test (a small blind spot on the LH side of my right eye), a balance EEG (results to come). I might have forgotten one or two other tests. I've seen an internist & an ear/nose/throat specialist. I have an appointment with a neurologist pending - in August. I called & they have me on a *to call* list to fill cancellations.

The most frustrating thing so far is that my insurance company won't send money unless they have a diagnosis. Mom wants me to threaten to sic my lawyer on them, but negativity breeds negativity. When my ins rep calls back I'm just going to ask if she minds speaking with my lawyer, & I'm sure she won't.

I'm a don't-worry-if-there's-nothing-to-be-worried-about kinda guy, so I haven't been. I get bored sometimes, but I stay fairly self-entertained. Except the blind spot in my eye is spreading & all my GP can think of at this point is if there's a connection it points to demyelination, which has already come back negative. And it would really suck to have MS (no offense intended to those suffering it - you have my sympathy).

Everything happens for a reason, but I have a vested interest in contravening God's plan ;)

*shrugs* Gotta die of something, right?

So let's see, I had a appt at 8:30 and hung out with Marlana most of the day. I'll break it down, (I just don't want to watch Family Feud.

Appt:

I got up at 7:30, washed my hair and got dressed in my St. Patty's day shirt from Target, and wore my green shoes. I did the make up deal and left. I got there, and waited awhile, long enough for me to flip through the observer, Time and Fortune (also long enough for me to know I don't like the magazine Fortune). Any way, I came prepared to this appt. I had the journals of when I feel faint and also a few questions and things I wanted to go over. Those included the fact of my recent period problems (really heavy, short and early--I'm not active or taking contraceptives), also the results from the last work up with detail, stomach problems, sinuses and ears, pretty much everything that's been going on. Jennifer's 2 Y.O. son was sick, so he was with her today. She checked my ears, better, fever still there, asked me a bunch of questions, checked my belly, ordered an ultra sound (Stat) a PFT, and more blood work. She wants to do a 24 hr blood pressure monitor, and possibly a holter monitor again. She wants me back soon, and also to go to an OB/GYN (something I've been kinda avoiding). Also she's been really great about helping me figure out what's going on, as well as preventive care related to the pulmonary problems. I was there for what felt like a few hours. My PFT is Monday and my ultra sound is the 28th, and after I have an appt.

After appt:

Went home, watched TV, hung out. Waited for Dad to come home for lunch and Mar and I went for lunch at Applebee's. After that, we checked her schedule at PC and then I did my blood work. What a time that was! Missed twice, and took her like fifteen minutes when normal people are in and out. Again on the side of my hand. After that I brought her home and Mom and I went to dinner at Canal View, because Dad is at Twin Ponds for the fancy schmancy dinner thingy. I have to work tommorrow, :( well, I'm off!

Sarah

But it's rather uncomfortable. Sometimes it's starts to the left and spreads to the right, but mostly on left.

Sarah

Hi there, I am a first time poster here. My name is Sarah, I'm 18, in college, full time and I have two jobs. (Also I'm a commuter) I've got asthma, tachycardia, allergies, and I think that's it. I had a breast reduction surgery in December. Sort of recently, but at least a few months I have been,

more thirsty, hungry, going to the bathroom a lot, I get dizzy, and head aches more than usual, I am tired, and overall feeling crappy. My NP did a group of labs and ruled out low blood sugar. I am confused and many of these symptoms have carried over and I feel have been going on a long time. I am sick of feeling sick, and not knowing why. Is there any advice? Any ideas? I have an appointment on Friday.

Sarah

I have a lot of strange perceptions and oddities, that I have no clue what that means as far as disorders go because my dad refuses to take me to a therapist.

I'm going to list them, and would like to get further help on how to help myself with this problem... and understand if this is a disorder or what in the world is wrong with me.

(1) I rearrange my room about 3-4 times a month, on an average of once a week. If I don't rearrange it, I can't sleep at night.

(2) When I'm in the bathroom, I always hear either a child crying or talking in front of the door, and I hear the telephone ring when it isn't ringing. (could this be because I was molested by my grandmother in the bathroom when I was younger?)

(3) I hallucinate in random periods in my life, but during that period it happens a lot. I used to hear a male voice that whispered my name. I hallucinated as a child too, but it was very mild. I had a panic attacks on 2 occasions.

(4) When I raise my hand in class to say something, a lot of times for no reason my heart beats so hard I can see and hear it pounding. (& I feel like others can too)

(5) Sometimes my mind jumps to analytical reasonings on why my best friend (and only close friend) isn't really my friend and he is decieving me. Then I become very cynical and think that everybody is like that which is why I don't make very many friends. My mind keeps up those thoughts at a fast rate and it's VERY hard to control it. I start crying like a madwoman and I feel like all the world has left me and there's no future...I jump around to different cynical thoughts. wtf?

(6) I NEVER finish anything I begin. I make a painting and it's hard to finish, I usually start another painting and then repeat the cycle until I get enough time farther from the first painting that I can finish it...even when I'm doing my homework it's like I can't finish the last 3 questions... ??

(7) Probally like every other month I get extremely paranoid and scared that there is a ghost following me around the house and is right on my shoulder. I get scared that I am possessed, and I kinda still believe that I have another spirit living inside of me.

(8) I am terrified of huge spaces. I can't even leave the house anymore, except for school but even that is scaring me. When I was in the mental hospital my room was extra huge and I started feeling really scared, like the room was just getting bigger and bigger and I couldn't sleep.

My uncle is a schizophrenic if that helps at all. When I used to see therapy my therapist asked if I had any schizophrenics in my family so just thought I'd let you know. I know I'm not schizophrenic.

Thank you to anyone who will help me, I'm really desperate for answers. Thank you! =)

Hello all!

It's been awhile since I've updated in here, and I figured I would bring you all up to date.

My Mother has still gone undiagnosed. As I mentioned in my previous post, she has had some breathing/lung problems for over a year now. In July a doctor told her that her lungs were very strong and that the problem must be coming from the upper respiratory tract. She hasn't been able to speak above a whisper for a year now. Another doctor told her that she also has acid reflux disease and possibly a form of IBD (irritable bowel disease). The latter didn't surprise us much, seeing as I have had Crohn's Disease since I was ten years-old. About two months ago Mom got the worst headache of her life...and it hasn't left. She's taken Lortab for it, even, and it won't budge. She went to the doctor and he wouldn't do anything for her. Wouldn't run an MRI or do any sorts of tests. He looked at her chart and asked her symptoms, then told her that her case was too confusing and that he "didn't want to think about it too much" because he "wasn't smart enough to handle her case." He also told her that her case "made his head hurt." He didn't refer her to any other doctors or recommend any tests...he just sent her home. It seems like we can't catch a break anywhere.

In October I went to the doctor because I have had some weird symptoms along with my Crohn's lately.
The symptoms include:
1. Terrible fatigue. I fell asleep at 3 PM on Wednesday and woke back up at 10 PM. I was up from 10 PM-4:30 AM. At 4:30 AM I went back to sleep and didn't get out of bed until 6 PM. I stayed up until 7:30 PM and went back to sleep until 11:30 PM. I can't get enough sleep. Recently, it's been the norm for me to sleep fifteen hours straight, even. One morning my Mom came into my room to check on me because I had slept for so many hours without waking up to use the bathroom.

2. Chronic yeast infections starting when I was fourteen. I get them all the time.

3. My legs feel "funny." For instance, if I lay in bed without moving my legs, when I go to move them it's nearly impossible. They feel dead and they hurt a lot. Sometimes it's like I have to tell my mind to tell my legs what to do. It's very hard to explain.

There are many, many other symptoms that I have had since the beginning of my Crohn's and a few new ones that just aren't that important, such as a fissure. But! when I went to the doctor he told me that it wasn't normal for a girl my age to feel that way, that I looked sick, and that he felt I may possibly have Lupus on top of my Crohn's Disease. He ran a couple "run of the mill" tests (mind you, we don't have health insurance) and then said "Well, it looks okay, so I can't do anymore for you, but you might want to try a Rheumologist, gastroenterologist, and a few other people I can refer you to." That was it, he had washed his hands of me.

Just wanted to update you all. :)
