Ticketmaster has just released more tickets to the Edinburgh show. Got mine in the back of the Orchestra section, then saw a few hours later, saw one for the front of the Circle. Damn! I'm short so that would've been much better for me.
At any rate, go, quickly, before they're gone again.
Crossposted, sorry if you see this twice... |

| A Waits Song for A Memory... |

| | chipper | ] | I'm just interested in seeing if there's anyone here that has a memory with a Waits song aquatinted to it. For me I have one, for the Earth Died Screaming. I was drunk, I had gone through a hell of a night, ya know sob sob break up...ended up waking up to the song and looked at the destruction I brought to my room...peeled off the wallpaper...drew some weird graffiti upon it, I was hung over...and off the cd player, I forgot I had the album Bone Machine on, and bam...as soon as I get up, the earth died screaming starts playing, I vomited all over the floor by the time it reached the chorus..and I looked outside in the rain, just covered in puke, miserable as hell, and this song just somehow made my morning. I'll never forget it |

| | content | ] | I 'm Rachael and completely new to LJ, but I LOVE Tom Waits! I cannot wait for the kickoff of the Glitter and Doom tour.. It is upsetting that there are only a total of, like, 12 shows. Sigh, I wish I could be at all of them. I'm glad to have found a community that loves him and enjoys his personality and music as much as I do! :D |

| | "Earth Died Screaming" | ] | Howdy, I'm a total noob to this community but of course, I just started listening to Waits about a few months ago after going through one hell of a break up, I gotta say, Waits held me up through that. So is anyone by any chance going to the atlanta show? if so...take me with you...please? I'll bring rum and whiskey, and...erm burritos! |

| I will see the legend soon....... |
[Jun. 5th, 2008|04:30 pm] |
2 weeks until I get to see Tom in Houston, TX. I am hoping that I can @ least hear him. We have nose bleed seats from hell. The last "concert" I saw in Houston was Lollapalooza in '92. I live in Austin which is a far better town than Houston. Anyway, we spent a good $200+ on 2 tickets. It still does not feel real since we also got those damned paperless tickets. I like the idea of paperless, but I am an avid collector of ticket stubs........ |

Eccentric singer-songwriter Tom Waits announced plans for a 2008 summer tour via a fake news conference video posted on his Web site. Singer-songwriter Tom Waits announced his upcoming “Glitter and Doom” summer tour at a press conference Monday May 5th. At least that’s what he would have you think. In a video posted to his Web site, Waits expounded on details of the tour. The video begins with Waits seated in front of a large microphone—the noise of a crowded room can be heard, cameras flash and click; people can be heard asking questions. Waits Never Fails to Confound and Amuse However, although the tour appears to be the real thing, the conference was a farce. Waits cracks jokes with the supposed audience and provides details on the tour in his typical eccentric manner. Then we hear someone ask “Are you coming”? To which Waits responds, “No, actually I’m going.” He stands up and lifts the needle from a record player next to him, bringing the room to silence. The camera pans away to show a small room with nothing but empty seats. Don’t worry, though; according to his label ANTI- (a division of Epitaph), the tour is indeed happening. Leave it to Waits to confound and entertain all at once. In the video, Waits explains that the dates for the tour were based on the pattern of the constellation Hydra. “When we’re all lost, what do we do? We all look up to the night sky. Indulge me.” Waits then pulls down a chart displaying an outline of the United States superimposed by an outline of Hydra. The cities for each tour are all listed on the chart, with the first letter of each forming an acronym: PEHDTSKJMBA; Waits elucidates that the acronym has an additional meaning: “People Envy Happiness; Dogs Though Sense Courage, Knowing Jubilation Means Better Ass…sets.” He then vocalizes the acronym phonetically several times (ped-ska-jumba), along with the crowd that isn’t there. European Tour? He also mentions the possibility of a European tour based on the constellation Eradmus, “…known for its widely veering path that will be controlling and dictating our route from Spain to Dublin." Although dates for the European tour haven’t yet been set, the route for the US tour has been confirmed and can be viewed here. |

So I must say that I'm pretty floored that the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center in San Rafael, California is screening Tom Wait's Big Time this week on Thursday. If you are a Waits fan I highly suggest checking this out especially if you've never seen this rare film before.
