Do any of you know how to deal with supernatural/psychic attacks?

Let me summarize one of the weirdest stories for you. It's utterly ridiculous, but the outcome is quite alarming

That being said, do you know how to deal with supernatural/psychic attacks besides hematite or jade?

Santa was VERY good to me :) [24 Dec 2006|10:51pm]

Not only did I get my wish for snow on Xmas, I mean actually falling snow, not just the stuff still on the ground from last week, but we also are going to stay a night in the haunted Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado on Thursday. We are going on the ghost tour and then we will be staying in one of the allegedly more "active" rooms. For those of my friends who are not familiar, the Stanley Hotel was the hotel that Stephen King based "The Shinning" on.

I will post a full report upon my return along with any "evidence" of ghostly activity I can catch. I will be taking my camera, of course and my digital voice recorder. Unfortunately I still have not found my EMF detector or my IR thermometer :( They are evidently still in one of the myriad of boxes we have left to unpack.

We've Made It! [13 Sep 2006|10:58pm]

[ mood | excited ]

This is the first time since the move that I have logged on to live journal. I hope I haven't missed too much.

It's been a month of unpacking so far. We still have a lot more to do, but it looks like we are finally settled in Denver, Colorado. It is beautiful here, but I find myself from time to time feeling a little like a fish-out-of-water. Hopefully that feeling will lessen over time.

If there are any of my fellow ghost freaks out there in the Denver area, I would love to hear from you. I am hoping to hook up with a research group out here and do some serious huntin'as I know that there are plenty of haunted "hot spots" around.

First time post... [09 Apr 2006|03:10pm]

This picture was taken by my husband yesterday morning. The story behind this is that it is an old adobe building (built around 1850) in "Old Yuma." It is a federally protected landmark and the City is selling it. It obviously needs a ton of repairs, but I am thinking about purchasing it as an investment. I found out about this building during a ghost tour of the downtown area. The story was that people claimed to see a woman standing in the window of one of the upstairs offices. The local spirit hunter crew did an investigation and were not able to really find anything the night they were there. My husband and I went yesterday and jumped the fence and entered this room through an open door in the back. We were taking some pictures so that we could have them for later to try to figure out size and everything. When we got home and were looking at the pictures, we noticed a number of circles that appear to be orbs. When we started zooming in on the orbs we noticed faces. Faces everywhere. I have cropped a few and will post them below. I would be curious to hear what ya'll think about it.

By the way...the only changes that have been made to the cropped pictures are a little adjustment to the contrast and the cropping.

In Response to [info]knoxvelour regarding my previous post

Before I respond to these, I’d like to note that though I believe in the spirit world, I am extremely skeptical of photos and proposed evidence of any kind. Any digital or film transferred to digital photo can be manipulated to show possible paranormal activity. Many photos are very easily explained by many of the answers that were offered in your comments. I’m an engineer by trade and am paid to be very analytical in observing a situation or problem. In each case, I applied as many of those explanations (and others) as possible and subsequently ruling them out or calling them into question.

I’ll address them one issue at a time per photo.

Queen Mary Ghost Photos (March & April 2004)

When my daughter visited there the first time with her Girl Scout Troop in March 2004, she caught a beautiful color image of a little girl in a group photo. The only problem is the Girl Scouts were the only people in the room and no-one, including the three Troop Leaders remember seeing this little girl – in the flesh.

Welcome!

What is a memorable ghost experience that you've had?

My family (my kids) and I have visited the RMS Queen Mary a number of times in the past few years. On each occasion we’ve experienced or viewed what could be described as paranormal behavior. I should mention BTW, that my 12 year old is highly sensitive and has a habit of attracting “unusual” company.

A friend and associate suggested that I crosspost my article to this community. My children and I do abandoned sites photography as a hobby, but we also have a habit of running into long passed, previous residents. Perhaps I'll add more of those past adventures in the future.

In these photos, there was a swirling breeze when my daughter and I shot these. Some dust was in the air and no moisture; however, that only explains some of the orbs and glitter.

Previously I wrote:
Several months ago, in Abandoned Places, a gentleman ([info]mrgrifter) posted pictures of a building in central Los Angeles reported to possibly be abandoned. This building had a huge clown face painted on the side. We made contact and we sent me the location of this unique place. With his directions, my kids and I found the building. It wasn’t abandoned but it and the neighborhood was a gem to behold. The “clown building” had all manner of circus scenes on it. Adjacent to this building was a cul-de-sac, ending adjacent to the LA River. These buildings were all shops and warehouses, but they were painted up appear to be part of a Parisian street scene including false windows and fronts. Many years had passed since this was originally done, so in the dying light, the area had an almost surreal cast to it. Brenna and I both got shots – some with very surprising results.

I’d like to offer those pictures now.

I was reading up on Gravity Hill in Sylmar and came across a user who mentioned something about "7 Gates of Hell" if you keep traveling up the hill you'll encounter the 1st gate through the cemetery. Is this true? Or did I read the wrong info?

Also, the Enchanted Forest is it in Sylmar or Pasadena? Help?

Poltergeist - Dare Use We it Literally? [12 Nov 2005|02:42pm]

aprillynn93
When the majority of people hear the term "poltergeist" or "poltergeist activity", they think of ghosts. Common sense, right? As most of us know, the literal translation of "poltergeist" is "noisy ghost". Presently, the term is mainly being used to describe phenomena arising from kinetic energy, having nothing to do with ghosts at all. It is my humble opinion that we should go back to using it to describe ghosts or phenomena created by ghosts and not kinetic energy. I believe it is too confusing when we tell someone that what they are experiencing is noisy ghost activity, but they do not have a ghost. I think it is better to explain that they are probably experiencing kinetic energy. Not only is it less confusing, but it is also less frightening to most people because it does not have all the ghost baggage attached to it.

I, myself will be changing my vocabulary thusly, as I hope some of my friends and colleagues will as well. As we are already fighting an uphill battle with main-stream science, I believe we should try and make our terms as logical as possible.
