Sex a 'hassle,' says 105-year-old virgin

LONDON - A British woman who celebrated her 105th birthday this week said the secret to long life was celibacy, adding that she imagined sex was a "lot of hassle."

Clara Meadmore, who marked her birthday with a drop of wine at the Perran Bay nursing home in Cornwall, southwest England, also received a card from Queen Elizabeth.

"People have asked me whether I am a homosexual and the answer is no," Meadmore said.

"I have just never been interested in sex.

"I imagine there is a lot of hassle involved and I have always been busy doing other things."

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1903, Meadmore lived in Canada and New Zealand as a child before returning to Britain in her 20s to work as a secretary and housekeeper.

She served with the army in Egypt during the Second World War, and subsequently lived in London and New Zealand before retiring 40 years ago in Cornwall.

About 4 am this morning, I had my reading material and was about to use the bathroom. Outside, I hear a woman not quite screaming, but making a similar sound. I run outside and try to figure out where the sound is coming from. For some reason, I can't. The building adjacent has a parking garage for a bottom level and the 2nd and 3rd floors are apartments and past that there's another apartment building. For some reason, its just impossible to pinpoint the sound.

It stops, I go back inside, hoping someone had their tv turned up too loud or something. A few minutes later I hear someone yelling: "help! help! help! help!" But, apparently nobodies helping him because he continues on for the longest time.

I go back outside and there are a lot of people looking around trying to figure out where the person making the noise is. But, apparently they can't figure it out, either. Finally, it stops. There's a guy walking up the stairs he says: "I just got attacked, call the police! Call the ambulance!"

Edit: got my facts straight. )

1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you five questions of a very intimate and creepily personal nature. Or not so creepy/personal.
3. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

So many things I never expected to happen...have. For one I'm Married. Happily, blissfully and OMG contently married. I'm expected my first (and only) child. I never thought I would have children...I mean I have a step son who is now staying with us for a while and while he is the light of my life, I did not give birth to him and while I didn't think I wanted the experiance...I am very much looking forward to it. We found out recently that it is indeed a boy, We will be naming him Alexei Viktor. While I am due Feb 4th, it is highly unlikely I will go to full term. JUst reflecting...

Aquarius Horoscope for week of October 2, 2008
Verticle Oracle card Aquarius (January 20-February 19)
Once upon a time, Brave Aquarius wandered out to the edge of the known universe in search of mind-blowing sensations and foreign titillations and clues to the future. So imagine Brave Aquarius's amazement when the rather attractive ogre who was guarding the rope bridge that crossed over the abyss said, "Stop! You're headed the wrong way! The mind-blowing sensations and foreign titillations and clues to the future you crave are back in the direction you came from. In fact, they are all the way back where you started." What to do? The ogre's advice was counter-intuitive and downright confounding. But Brave Aquarius, being foremost an experimental adventurer, thought, "Hmmm. I guess maybe I'll try what the ogre suggested. What could be more experimental and adventurous than changing my mind?"

I guess there is a reason why I try to maintain an aloof if silly / stupid posture about circumstances at times. I have a tendency to take things extremely seriously. Seriously. Seriously.

"If I were to say anything i'd say succeed at what you can and fail at what you can't. Each causes change and contributes to your identity as a person. I am the guy who just exists and walks whereever he pleases. Living life for myself and influencing others by my actions. I expect to make mistakes and hope to have great patience. My government, my state, my ethnicity and working class are not who I am. Instead I am what i've already done and will do. None of those things can take responsibilty for the choices i've made. Only I can."

It would be like being a hunter gatherer, or even driving on the road, with lots of bright flashes everywhere.
We are visual, so noise on that signal would be like blinding light

Marine animals use sound to navigate and find food, and communicate too... but people are noisy, and sound will travel farther.

Silly OMG Milk comes in a Bag! [01 Oct 2008|11:01pm]

I used to have milk in a bag growing up.  The  pitcher was pink.  If the plastic was biodegradable, or even recyclable, it would be more efficient than the jugs or cartons because it uses less packaging.

The girl of my dreams said, "The works very hard."

"What?"

"The works very hard. We have such a problem with nouns. It's better that we don't have to deal with them."
