App.

The Application
Basics
1. Name: Courtney
2. Age: 19
3. Gender: female
4. Location: charlotte,NC
5. Who invited you to join, if anyone: noone,i found it on my own!

Mods - all of these come with the "why or why not" attached to them. Please explain why you decided to get each mods or why you've chosen not to have them. Leaving something blank isn't an option!
6. Tattoos? i have 5 tattoos. cherries on each side of my chest..cause i love everything about cherries! a corset/pinned heart..it was a combination of my own design and influenced by tim burton's artwork. hello kitty with cross bones, i love hello kitty..and im obsessed with japanese street fashion, cartoons and whatnot. a green and a blue heart behind each ear, for me and my ex boyfriend..dont worry,i dont regret it cause we're still really good friends and he's helped me through so much so thats my way of appreciating everything he's done for me.and lastly,a girls face with spider legs, dedicated to my favorite song by The Cure.
7. Piercings? medusa, tongue, labret, nipples, and lower navel. i dont exactly have GOOD reasons why i got those piercings, other to enhance my features or to make me feel sexier about myself.
8. Brandings? nope,i wouldnt mind one though
9. Scarification? ive been thinking about getting some done, not sure of what though.
10. What is your biggest health risk surrounding your mods? getting them ripped out??!! nooo...i dont know
11. Which mod do you find most visually pleasing? Be specific - not just "piercings" but "vertical labret." i really like my medusa for some reason..i just think its cuuute ! i used to have my clavicles done and i thought they looked sexy. septum piercings are real cute too, especially on girls.
12. What mods do you find the least visually pleasing? Same crtieria as above! i dont really like eyebrow piercings for some reason i dont exactly know. unless they have really pretty eyes. face implants like forehead implants are kinda unattractive to me too,but he whatever floats your boat, just one person's opinion.
13. Why do you find mods attractive as a whole? i think piercings and tattoos can enhance facial and body features. especially ones around your collarbones, hips, neck, certain "tramp stamp" tattoos.
14. How do you respond to: "Does that hurt?" most people ask me that about my medusa. i usually just say" gah everyone asks me that, but no it didnt hurt as much as everyone said it would."
15. Is your family mod friendly? most of them are, except for my dad's parents..they're the fucking devil anyway.
16. Friends? of course, all my friends are into body mods..its nice to have friends you have something in common with.
17. Workplace? well,i worked at hot topic for a little while so yeah they were obviously fine with that, now im currently unemployed.:(

Pictures - post one to four pictures of your mods. This limit will be judged. I've asked for one to four pictures for a reason so pick the best. If a member so feels the need s/he will ask for more. You looking cute isn't good enough - we want to see that ear. Or vagina. Or shoulder
. you cant really get a good look of my tats there, but i dont have many pics of them..so bare with me here.
piercings and a better view of my tattoo!
hello kitty on my arm
you can see at least one of my cherries..yeah,i had to dress up on halloween for work..i took a picture cause i dont have fake blood on me often. weeeee...

Just Out Of Curiosity - these won't affect your application and won't be judged.
Are you on IAM? noope, i'd like to be eventually :-/
Where do you get your mods done? i used to get my piercings and a couple of my tattoos done at a shop called Sling n Ink in New York..i recently moved to north carolina so i havent been to any shops yet.

Basics
1. Name: Char Ford
2. Age: 20
3. Gender: Feminish
4. Location: Michigan
5. Who invited you to join, if anyone: The search feature of LJ

Mods - all of these come with the "why or why not" attached to them. Please explain why you decided to get each mods or why you've chosen not to have them. Leaving something blank isn't an option!
6. Tattoos? One on ankle, see attached picture. For about three to four years I wanted to do this (and since I was young, I decided sharpie was a good idea.) So every day, I sharpied it on my ankle to make sure I wanted it. Then I got it inked. Instead of going to the place where I wanted to go to, a friend of mine who wanted to get a tat to freak her mom out dragged me here and said I had to do it otherwise she couldn't. Peer pressure, man! The experience the first time in there wasn't bad, except he wasn't keen on answering questions, and didn't have a sink in the ink-room. When I went to get a touchup though, he didn't even intend on washing his hands and it looked like he grabbed used gloves, and didn't clean his machine. I got up and left saying that I had better things to do.
7. Piercings? Two in the left conch, currently wearing studs but I hate them. I need to find some 18g hoops to put in there or some barbells because I hate butterfly backs and the studs tarnish and it's ugly. Two holes in each lobe (just standard stuff, but I've gone between 6g and studs with them depending on my mood. I like the plugs look, but I really made my family angry and I've since moved out so I'm considering it again.), I also have a Christina because I wanted to make my vagina beautiful and thought a rook type of piercing around the upper ridge between my outer labia would be wonderful. The eventual plan is to do a double christina, the top piercing with a jewelled ball and the bottom with a ring, because I find that absolutely beautiful. I used to have my nipples pierced, but the piercer botched the job and I had to take them out (and waste 70 bucks that I could have given to a good place).
8. Brandings? None that were done on purpose.
9. Scarification? A heart that is really faint on the left hip that I did when I was younger (bad idea, stupid kid thing I did), which I suppose counts, and if you want to count it, the "ribbons" from SI on my thigh.
10. What is your biggest health risk surrounding your mods? I don't heal cartilage well. Took me 1 1/2 years to heal my conch, and that was with working with the piercer, having a rigourous cleaning regimen, and changing jewelery till it stopped "yelling" at me. My piercer and I worked hard on the placement of the holes, and I really didn't want to lose such a great piece (at least I think it's great - it is a very satisfactory piece of work, and I love it)
11. Which mod do you find most visually pleasing? Be specific - not just "piercings" but "vertical labret." On myself, I find my christina the most visually pleasing, granted that I trim my pubic hair to accent it and put in one of my prettier pieces of jewellry. I find the location and the rarity something special and for the wearer (any wearer of a christina) to be proud of because she has the specific anatomy required to pierce and keep a piece of jewelry there without it migrating.
On others, I love bridge piercings. They are so unique and it makes me think of them being symbolically helping the wearer see things that might not be noticible to the mainstream audience (I'm big on symbolism with piercings and tats).
As far as tattoos, I think backpieces that are really unique and most definitely have a part of the person put into them (not just tiger stripes, here) are visually appealing. Also, well-placed, and well-done religious symbols I find particularly appealing because is shows a great deal of devotion to wear something like that. ...well, hopefully shows a great deal of devotion.
12. What mods do you find the least visually pleasing? Same crtieria as above! Eyelid piercings drive me nuts because I can just feel them itching across my eye, and can imagine the great deal of trust and insane amount of fright involved when having someone else insert a large pointy thing through a fragile and valuable part of the body. Also, a huge amount of temporary surface to surface piercings kind of annoys me. I realize that they're some people's fetishes, but sometimes they're done so sloppily that it makes me think that the person is there soley for the pain/pleasure of it, and none of the aestethic part of the piercing.
I dislike kanji symbol tattoos, especially when someone is wearing them and may have never double-checked to make sure they have "friendship" and not "your mother is ____" tattooed on the back of their neck. A Japanese friend of mine pointed out several mis-representations a few years back and again my Chinese room mate of last year just remarked to me about twice a month on the things that she has noticed tattooed on unsuspecting victims. In one instance she saw "bathroom moth."
13. Why do you find mods attractive as a whole? Mods are a way of putting your own ideas out on your skin so the whole world can see who you want to portray yourself. Anyone can have a clean canvas, but it's artists who choose to paint it (and pierce it!). I like to know the stories behind people's mods, because there is often something interesting behind them (like the heart on my dad's right inside arm was a gang symbol for the gang he led in the 50s and they had to tattoo it on themselves with thread and india ink in order to be accepted in). You never know what you might learn from someone else's experiences. Sometimes the sheer beauty of a mod can just take you over, or seeing a very complicated but very well orchestrated earpiece can leave a warm fuzzy on the inside.
14. How do you respond to: "Does that hurt?" I say it did, it was worth it, and now it's healed. (in the case of it being healed).
15. Is your family mod friendly? They haven't kicked me out of the house, but they're not really. Especially after I got my sister a tragus piercing for her birthday and she had an allergic reaction to the stainless steel (I got her pain and suffering for a present, haha).
16. Friends? If they're not then they ought to hit the road because any person who's not going to accept me for who I am regardless of what's going on with my body isn't someone I need to count as a friend anymore. They get demoted to "aquaintance."
17. Workplace? As long as the mod does not interfere with the ability to do your job, they are all for it.

Pictures - post one to four pictures of your mods. This limit will be judged. I've asked for one to four pictures for a reason so pick the best. If a member so feels the need s/he will ask for more. You looking cute isn't good enough - we want to see that ear. Or vagina. Or shoulder.

That's with the studs in it.

This is right after it was done. It doesn't exactly look like this anymore, a lot of the ink on the one you see wasn't deep enough to stay. Needless to say I'm upset with the work.

Here's my Christina experience as posted on BME: http://www.bmezine.com/pierce/10-female/other/A60323/othdiych.html

Just Out Of Curiosity - these won't affect your application and won't be judged.
Are you on IAM? Yes. It's not active or anything right now though.
Where do you get your mods done? A specific artist and location is fun. I go to Old Town Tattoo and Body piercing in Old Town Saginaw now, and the piercer there is Jim Raimar. He's the most professional piercer I've ever met. holeybody.com is his website. My tat was done at Heritage Tattoo in Mt. Pleasant Michigan, and I think the guy's name was Eric. He mumbled. My botched nipples were done by Pat at Drunken Monkey Tattoo (right down the road from Old Town Tattoo)and I hear good things about their ink work, but I can only personally attest to my experience.

Application:

Name: Rose
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Location: Brisbane, Australia
Who invited you to join, if anyone: no one. Was just searching for a mod community on LJ.

Tattoos
-Multiple; though I'm not entirely happy with them all. My favorite would be my back piece; a set of blackwork style wings which I drew myself, and a row of 5 stars down my spine. It has personal meaning to me and was my 21st birthday present to myself.
-I also have two swallows on my chest I designed when I was 18. While I wish I had someone else design them (as we all nitpick our own artwork) they're cute, and I'm pretty attached to them (no pun intended). I plan to have some edits done to them as I'd like them to look a little more like parrots actually, and I'll finish the chestpiece and add some colour!
-Devil and angel mouse on my stomach (one on each side, though they're embarrassing and need SERIOUS work), as well as two stars which were my first pieces. They're on each side of my abdomen, one in each curve of my hips.
- Each wrist, though it's very unfinished and needs touchup and colour. The right wrist has some flames and then cyrstals (and stars) symbolizing 'earth and fire'. The left at the moment has some very basic stylized waves/water, and will eventually encompass 'wind and water'. There are the starting points of sleeves with the same theme.
- blackwork magpie feather on the back of my right calf. This goes with the wings, and while the outline is good the guy drilled my leg. Considering the fact that I did my research and paid decent money for the piece I was pretty pissed. The guy was supposed to be pretty good for what I could get in that area, and I need to get it touched up now because of scarring and dropped ink.

Piercings
- Tongue, 12g
- Ears, 20mm lobes, 8g 2nd holes, 14g third holes
- labret, 14g
- retired 14g septum, to be redone within the month
- nipples, 14g horizontal bars
- navel, 14g
- 2x inner labia, currently 14g, can wear up to 10-12g

Brandings
- None professionally done at this time. Very faded 4 horizontal lines on my left wrist, self-done for personal reasons. I'm not sure if I will get any pro branding done because it doesn't scar well on me.

Scarification
- First piece scheduled this Tuesday (10th October). It's my 22nd birthday present to myself and I'm stoked. If I'm accepted I'll post pictures of the procedure, as I have a friend coming to take photos the entire time (as much as she can). It's a cut & peel, with skin removal and will be of a vector magpie design that I use as an artists logo and will be on my lower back under the last star going down my spine and extending down to my tailbone. 24cm wide and 16cm tall.

Extreme Mods (I added this one in, because there was no option for it?)
- Have ear pointing and 5mm transdermal horn implants scheduled for January with Howie; www.lunacobra.net

What is your biggest health risk surrounding your mods?
- For what I have at the moment, I'd say infection or blowouts on my lobes (currently stretching up to 26mm), or infections on piercings like nipples (considering the heat in the summer + bras, etc). Even then, those aren't really huge risks as I've had the piercings for years and never had a problem (but hey, gotta answer all the questions!).

Which mod do you find most visually pleasing?
- I love septum piercings as a basic mod, but in terms of other mods I'd have to say, in this order:
* Ear Pointing (couldn't explain why it's so attractive, but I find the shape very appealing. Prefer it on females rather than males, but I've seen a few done that looked fantastic on guys).
* Horns (I like the idea of metal horns. It appeals to my love of cyborgs and androids)
* Full tattoo coverage (even just a full sleeve)

What mods do you find the least visually pleasing?
- Extreme genital mods. I like those areas of the body as they are. If I need to be specific here, I'd say bifercation and full nullo.

Why do you find mods attractive as a whole?
- That's a hard question to answer. I don't think there's anything specifically that makes them attractive. I think it's an overall general appreciation for how the human body looks when modified. I think traditional aboriginal and tribal modifications are the most beautiful, like neck rings, stretched ears, scarification and branding, etc.

How do you respond to: "Does that hurt?"
- "Only when I got it done." "No" "Of course it did" (Depends on my mood or how annoying/insistant the person is being)

Is your family mod friendly?
- My mother and brother are, and the rest of the family doesn't say a word. I really don't care either way what they think but I like that my mother is modded as well (quite a lot of tattoo coverage).

Friends?
- Yes. My friends are quite open-minded and while I'm the most modified of them all, none of them ever comment on it or really bring it up.

Workplace?
- I work for myself, so that makes it easy. I do vollunteer for the local RSPCA though but I haven't gotten any comments at all. People seem pretty laid back about it all which is nice.

Pictures (click for bigger versions)

http://iam.bmezine.com/?rose_quoll

Some helpful links & a few questions

http://www.artcyclopedia.com/

http://www.mythologicalrealm.com

http://www.artpromote.com/

http://www.intaglio-fine-art.com/

http://www.theenchantedgallery.com/indexgallery.html

http://www.cartoonworld.org/lineartgallery/ All cartoon, line art type stuff

http://icom.museum/vlmp/galleries.html Directory of art museums

http://www.artmajeur.com/?go=artworks/list_artworks

http://www.buddhanet.net/ftp01.htm Buddhist art. I was truly amazed by many of the works on there.

http://www.abcgallery.com/ Helpful if you know what artist or type of art you're looking for.

http://www.bluebottleart.com/index.php There are SOOO many cute works on there! I'm not usually a fan of robots, but I do like this girl's robots.

I've also found that many of the major art museums have galleries online, and that can help too if you're looking for a more famous artist, or if you just want to browse.
Hope these links help some of you. The art I looked at on those sites, for the most part, was beautiful! :)

So I've been looking for a phoenix because I had this (what I think is) awesome idea for a sleeve. I haven't really found ones I like; they've all been too... well... ugly. My friend who served in the military overseas told me to try looking under the name "simorg". It's the phoenix from Arabic mythology. Well, surprise surprise.. when using that word, I found a site with lots of beautiful phoenixes and other mythological creatures, but I really fell in love with one. The problem is, I can't right click on it and it's not really big enough. The one I love is here under where it says "which blazed up forthwith." It's the really colorful one. Anyways, my question is, have you guys seen any ones like that? I have awhile to go before I get my sleeve (at least two years) but I'm trying to find out who the artist is, or at least where I can find a bigger picture of it so I can start on ideas, etc.
Also, feel free to show me any other sites with pictures of phoenixes on them. I've looked through Google but nothing really hit me. I'm working on BME too, so don't worry, I'm not trying to make you do my work for me! Haha :) If you've got a phoenix tattoo, preferably completed/with or without color, PLEASE show me. I don't want to rip your tattoos off whatsoever, I'm just looking for vague ideas to go from.
Last question, I promise. How did you guys think up ideas for your filler when doing sleeves? Thank you sooo much!

*x-posted, so sorry if you see this more than once

New

Basics
1. Name: Brieanna
2. Age: 16
3. Gender: Female
4. Location: Skippack, PA
5. Who invited you to join, if anyone: No one

Mods - all of these come with the "why or why not" attached to them. Please explain why you decided to get each mods or why you've chosen not to have them. Leaving something blank isn't an option!
6. Tattoos? Yes, I have them. It's because I think the art of tattooing is absolutely beautiful (the most gorgeous form of body mod, in my opinion) and I got what I did for a reason. The reason behind them was to remind myself that my family has made sacrifices for me, and I need to do to the same for them. It's a reminder of a hard part of my life when I was younger, and although I wanted to hate my father (for reasons left unsaid), I couldn't because he realized what he was doing and corrected himself for me and my brothers and sisters. It also serves as a reminder to be selfless when it comes to doing things for your friends and family; don't do it because it'll make you feel like you're a good person, do it because they deserve it and you love them enough to do things for them. IMO, it's just a good way to remind myself to keep pushing every day, do what I need to do, and take care of my friends and family, because they're the one thing I hold most dear to me (especially my brothers and sisters).
7. Piercings? I have (and had) them, and I love them. They can be original, in the sense that not many people have that specific piercing. For example, an anti-eyebrow versus lip piercings. Although I do love many of the more "common" piercings, I always admire someone with a piercing I've never seen before. I just love piercings, I'm not exactly sure why.
8. Brandings? I don't have any, and don't want any. They're intriguing, but not for me. Getting burned always reminds me of a semi-bad accident that could've been a lot worse when I was a toddler.
9. Scarification? I can't really answer because I honestly don't have much knowledge on this, although I would like to look into it further.
10. What is your biggest health risk surrounding your mods? I always take care of them and follow the given aftercare instructions, so that's not a problem for me. I'm extremely responsible in that way, as I want to see everything I get heal well, not only for the sake of looking good, but for the sake of avoiding infections that could become dangerous, such as an infection of a septum piercing. I guess the biggest health risk is that I'm younger and if I'm playing rough or even just playing sports with friends, piercings could potentially be ripped out, even though I try to take precautions to make sure that they aren't. Growth really isn't much of a problem for me (I haven't grown any taller since about 6th grade), so I don't worry about that too much.
11. Which mod do you find most visually pleasing? This is hard... but I'd have to say septum piercings.
12. What mods do you find the least visually pleasing? Sternum surface piercings.
13. Why do you find mods attractive as a whole? I believe that they do partially make you who you are. Everyone's got preferences on which mods they find attractive, and which ones they don't. Tattoos, especially, are often times really meaningful to the person who got them. A lot of tattoos tell stories, or tell about someone's heritage, relationship with their family, words they believe they should live by, and so on. I think it's pretty cool when someone asks, "What's the meaning behind your tattoos?" and when they learn what it is, they understand my reason for getting ink, other than the fact that I love the art of tattooing.
14. How do you respond to: "Does that hurt?" It gets annoying after the first few people. If it's a piercing and you ask me, you usually get the annoyed, "There was a (insert gauge) needle poking a hole through my body that's not normally supposed to be there. What do you think?" If it's about the tattoo, they'll usually get "Well, think about having needles repeatedly jabbing into your skin over and over again, putting a foreign material into your skin, for about 3-4 hours for something the size of mine. You just answered your own question." I hate when people don't think before they open their mouths >_<
15. Is your family mod friendly? At first, my parents weren't fond of the idea of piercings and tattoos. I got my first piercing other than my ears (right side of my lip) at 13, and from then on retired some piercings in exchange for others, as well as just added to the number of piercings I had. My mom and dad took me to get my first tattoos on my 16th birthday, and the only other one I'll be getting before I'm 18 is a memorial tattoo for a friend that died who I'd become extremely close to. I used the reasoning, "At least I'm addicted to body mods and not drugs or alcohol" and I guess they thought it was true, haha. When I took a break after getting the first swallow done, I came out to see my parents in the lobby of the shop and I showed them the first one that was done. They couldn't help admitting that it was gorgeous, "even if it was a little big" for my first one. They've grown to not mind, and actually like, some of my mods.
16. Friends? Yep. A lot of my friends also have tattoos and piercings, so they're always curious to see what's new on me.
17. Workplace? I currently don't work, but septum piercings are easy to hide as are my tattoos because of placement. I do wish I could have snakebites, a vertical labret, etc at a workplace, though.

Pictures -
My first tattoos. The banner on the left says "For those I love" and the one on my right leg says "I will sacrifice". They hold a meaning to me much deeper than lyrics.

Sorry for the bad picture, it's the best one I could find of when I had snakebites.

Just Out Of Curiosity - these won't affect your application and won't be judged.
Are you on IAM? Yes, my username is WastedYouth.
Where do you get your mods done? A specific artist and location is fun. For piercings, I go to Sherry @ Liberty Tattoo in Skippack, PA. For my tattoos, I went to (and plan to keep going to) Mike Arehart @ Paradise Lost Tattoos in Kutztown, PA.
Please explain why you decided to get each mods or why you've chosen not to have them. Leaving something blank isn't an option!

6. Tattoos? -
Not yet. I still live at home, my mother does not like tattoos and for some reason I am repecting this particular wish of hers that she has asked that I at least not get any until I move out. (shed prefer not at all)
7. Piercings? -
2 ear projects in left ear, 8 ga tongue, both nipples, 8 ga VCH
8. Brandings? -
none, don't feel its right for me and I'd be too scared
9. Scarification? -
None. I am in recovery from numerous things, one being cutting and my brain associates the scarification to my cutting, I have a hard time looking at my self inflicted scars already.
10. What is your biggest health risk surrounding your mods? -
I sometimes worry about the facility being clean and if they are being honest when I ask questions. Whether I'm cleaning the piecing too much or not enough.
11. Which mod do you find most visually pleasing? Be specific - not just "piercings" but "vertical labret." -
I am a big fan of tattoos on men, especially on their neck, back and wrist tattoos on anyone. With piercings it really depends on the person but I have seen some bridge piercing that looked wonderful on people. Nipples always look good with some jewelry and even though I have never seen any in person I am drawn to male genital piercing, especially a frenum ladder. Oh and I am fascinated with surface work.
12. What mods do you find the least visually pleasing? Same crtieria as above!
I'm not a big fan of flashy dangling belly button jewelry my first instinct is that it's a bit tacky, not a huge fan of the eyebrow on many faces.
13. Why do you find mods attractive as a whole?
If done well they can inhance something beautiful on a person, or add its own beauty on something that may not be. It can also express something about someone.
14. How do you respond to: "Does that hurt?"
I try not to be sarcastic. Depending o what they are asking about, usually people only ask about the ears and tongue (since they can't see the others), I tend to say that the piercing is generally so quick that you don't have time for it to hurt, and that Yes, when the ear projects were healing they caused some pain.
15. Is your family mod friendly?
My siblings don't really care, my parents don't really like it but are coping for now. I had my lobes stretched and they bothered my mother so much that I removed them.
16. Friends?
Friends are ok, they seem to not 'get it' but as far as I know they aren't bothered
17. Workplace?
Some make a joke in jest at times, but we have a small close office and they are ok with what I have (not sure if they are ok with facial piercings)

Just Out Of Curiosity - these won't affect your application and won't be judged.
Are you on IAM? - No.
Where do you get your mods done? A specific artist and location is fun.
Honestly can't even remember some (didn't always plan and make smart choices in location) but the recent tongue & VCH stretch were done at Andromeda by Abel

Out of curiosity is this community active, are the mods stamping people?

I get that from everyone else.)
3. Gender: Female
4. Location: Boise, ID
5. Who invited you to join, if anyone: no one

Mods - all of these come with the "why or why not" attached to them. Please explain why you decided to get each mods or why you've chosen not to have them. Leaving something blank isn't an option!
6. Tattoos? None yet.
7. Piercings? 14g helix-conch indust, 10g anti helix, 14g septum, 20g nostril, 14g standard navel, 16g private. why? i love all body modification, and piercing happens to fall into that category. so i got piercings i like, and have plans for many more.
8. Brandings? none as of yet.
9. Scarification? none as of yet.
10. What is your biggest health risk surrounding your mods? Um, pardon? I'm not sure I understand. My immune system is a little crappy so mods tend to take longer healing...?
11. Which mod do you find most visually pleasing? Be specific - not just "piercings" but "vertical labret." Vertical labrets, huge lobe stretches (1" and up), large gauge septums and other facial piercings...oh wait. I was only supposed to list one?
12. What mods do you find the least visually pleasing? i'm not a huge fan of third eye piercings and tribal tatt's.
13. Why do you find mods attractive as a whole? because...they enhance the body. people can use them to further define themselves and be truly unique, and it's just beautiful.
14. How do you respond to: "Does that hurt?" One of two, "Yes, obviously, there's a needle going through your skin, but it was nothing I couldn't handle" or a sarcastic, "No, it feels like kitten licks!"
15. Is your family mod friendly? ...relatively. Obviously, my mother signs for all my piercings. But she doesn't like heavier mods that I do - scarrification, tongue splitting, major stretching, etc.
16. Friends? Heh...I don't have friends. Some think it's cool others think it's ugly.
17. Workplace? I don't work.

Pictures - post one to four pictures of your mods. This limit will be judged. I've asked for one to four pictures for a reason so pick the best. If a member so feels the need s/he will ask for more. You looking cute isn't good enough - we want to see that ear. Or vagina.

The Application

6. Tattoos? 7. Most of my tattoos have absolutely no meaning behind them, and I dont give a fuck. I hate when people tell me my tattoos are dumb because they don't mean anything, because I got my tattoos for the beauty of them. I'd rather have a beautiful rose on my arm than a portrait of my great uncle bob who died.

7. Piercings? currently 12, if i know how to count. Right now I have my monroe/madonnna (whatever you choose to call it), my nipples, my tragus', my lobes stretched to an inch (with room), my septum and my tongue (6g), lip, nostril, scrumpter.

8. Brandings? Not yet. I love the way they look, for some reason especially on stomachs, or like right by the vag, haha, but I'm only 18, and am saving my stomach for after I have children

9. Scarification? I'm not really a big fan of it for myself, even though I've seen some really unique and amazing pieces.

10. What is your biggest health risk surrounding your mods? I'm really afraid of infection, when i had my arm done, it turned black from bruising, and the first night i was deathly afraid it was infected because the pain was so much more intense than anything else.

11. Which mod do you find most visually pleasing? i love septums. Septums, in my opinion are one of the only piercings that most people can pull off, girls, guys, blondes, brunettes, just about anyone looks cuter with one, as oppossed to say, a lip piercing, a lot of people cant pull it off, myself included.

12. What mods do you find the least visually pleasing? I HATE eyebrow piercings. ive seen one person in my entire life that looked better with one, i cant help but associate them with white trash, since most people in my area with them are like, ugh, dirty and theres always puss oozing out of the red swollen brow. Maybe its just me, but I cant appreciate a piercing when its leaking and throbbing.

13. Why do you find mods attractive as a whole? I love stretched ears and tattoos, if they are done correctly. when i see someone with stretched ears, or a really cool tattoo, I cant help but say "hello", i like to know all about them, like how did the tattoo heal, how bad was the pain, who did it, how much did they pay, what others do they have, and with stretched ears, i love knowing how long it took, how they do it, what types of plugs they prefer... etc.

14. How do you respond to: "Does that hurt?" Normally I'll be honest, if they seem generally interested, but sometimes people are just so rude, ill be rude back. I like explaining it to children that seem interested, or kids my age, and even old folks, youd be surprised how interested 90 year old men and women can be, and how polite they are. if a piercing hurt, im not gonna lie, and if it didnt, then i have no reason to say it did.

15. Is your family mod friendly? half and half. my moms whatever, my dad is clueless. my sister likes my mods, but wouldnt have anything done herself, my family is made up of 6 children, and no other kid has as much as a belly button ring.

16. Friends? My friends are like me, and so they come with me and hold my hands, because no matter how much stuff i get, i still need someone there to laugh at my pain faces and squeeze my hand back.

17. Workplace? im currently unemployed. Ive had jobs that didnt mind, and ive had jobs where i had to pull everything out whenever a boss walked by.

Pictures

latest tattoo, LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. its my fave.

start of the chest piece, unfortunately its been a year and I havent worked on it.

I dont normally look this mean, promise.

yep.

Just Out Of Curiosity - these won't affect your application and won't be judged.
Are you on IAM? No, to be honest, I don't even really get what it is.
Where do you get your mods done? A specific artist and location is fun. Oh man, I don't have a specific artist, but my favorate is Joe, he works at Tat2Times in Melbourne FL.

Basics
1. Name: Emma
2. Age: 18
3. Gender: Female
4. Location: Melbourne, FL
5. Who invited you to join, if anyone: i came across it on _hotxmods

Basics:

1. Name: Raechel
2. Age: 23
3. Gender: Female
4. Location: Tallahassee, FL
5. Who invited you to join, if anyone: Discovered via another mod community

Mods:

6. Tattoos? I have eight total. My first three, done when I first became legal, are most unfortunate: two stars (one behind my ear, another on my shoulder), and a butterfly (on my stomach). The latter two are scheduled to be covered up. Otherwise, I have a cat on my back (a tribute to my own cat), the beginnings of a cherry blossom tree on my right arm, "Dangerous Thoughts" in modern Greek on my forearm (this is the title of the poem seen here: http://greece.poetryinternational.org/cwolk/view/17945), a Piranha Plant from Super Mario Brothers on one side of my chest, and Boo from the same game on the other side.

7. Piercings? Seven. 5/8-inch lobes, septum, double lip, and clavicles.

8. Brandings? None yet, but I find myself increasingly intrigued. I'm considering getting the Golden Harvest logo branded on my upper left arm, but that isn't something I can get done in this town.

9. Scarification? None.

10. What is your biggest health risk surrounding your mods? I scar very easily, and I have had a lot of problems with scar tissue which has developed long after the piercing seems healed. I recently discovered emu oil, however, and it has worked wonders. I did have a terrible infection in my now-retired inverse navel piercing a few years ago, and in retrospect, I should have more closely examined the shop at which it was pierced.

11. Which mod do you find most visually pleasing? So many. I love stretched lobes, vertical labrets, and septums. I also think nipple piercings on women (particularly with barbells) are incredibly sexy.

12. What mods do you find the least visually pleasing? I can't think of any that truly repulse me, to be honest. I think labret piercings look strange on men with beards or quasi-beards, though. I'm not a big fan of eyebrow rings, but I sported one for years. :)

13. Why do you find mods attractive as a whole? The wonderful thing about body modification is that it can hold any degree of meaning. For some, modification is traditional ritual; for others, obtaining a mod may provide sexual satisfaction, stress relief, or even desired pain. Mods create a shock factor in certain environments, and a sense of community in others. Sometimes people get modded together to symbolize a special relationship, and other times people get modded because it's trendy. I guess I love mods because no matter how popular or, contrarily, unusual a mod is, it says something about the modded individual. I suppose that's why I like to talk to modded individuals-- to know why, if for any reason in particular, they've chosen a particular mod.

14. How do you respond to: "Does that hurt?" It annoys me, but mostly because my mods aren't anything exceptional. I can guarantee there are two hundred lip rings on my college campus, and I KNOW I'm not the first pierced person to walk into the coffee shop, so why am I continually asked? When someone asks if it hurt, I tell them, "of course, but only for awhile." I'm a bit more tolerant of my grandparents asking since they don't often see modded individuals.

15. Is your family mod friendly? Very. They all seem to think I put myself through excrutiating pain, and they ask a lot of questions, but they only criticize me in jest. I think my dad was a bit worried when I started getting visible tattoos, but he's cery supportive, as are my grandparents. I suppose they've given up on me.

16. Friends? None of my friends are very critical of my mods. Some were shocked by my Nintendo tattoos, which I don't quite understand since I've been gaming since I was old enough to press A and B.

17. Workplace? Both of my my recent jobs have been mod-friendly. I worked for the state of Florida at a university for two years, and though my office was full of people my dad and grandparents' ages, they just got a laugh out of my ever-changing piercings and new tattoos. I'm currently a graduate student and teaching assistant, and it certainly isn't a problem for my department. I'm fortunate in that I plan to be a literature professor, and English departments I've found, are overwhelmingly open-minded at the schools at which I am interested in teaching.

Pictures:

My facial piercings.

The beginnings of my cherry blossom half sleeve.

Boo and a fresh Tygon clavicle piercing.

Piranha and the other clavicle.

Are you on IAM? I just got a BME membership, but I haven't yet checked out the IAM thing yet. I plan to, though!

Where do you get your mods done? All current piercings were done by Katie at Piercings by Bink in Tallahassee. All tattoos shown done by Mike at Advanced Tattoo, also in Tallahassee.

The Application
Basics
1. Name: Marcy Y.
2. Age: 15. ( 16 In August.) I know I'm young. But I've planned out current mods/future mods long before I got them. My mom has no problem signing off on them, so I consider myself old enough to get them, if I know the risks/outcomes and have the smarts to get a decent artist.
3. Gender: Female.
4. Location: NY
5. Who invited you to join, if anyone: No one, I found the community searching for bodymod communities.

Mods - all of these come with the "why or why not" attached to them. Please explain why you decided to get each mods or why you've chosen not to have them. Leaving something blank isn't an option!

6. Tattoos? I currently have one tattoo. A roll of parchment with a quill/ink pot next to it. It's more personal than anything, because I'm a writer and that's what I plan to do with my life.

7. Piercings? My upper catrilage is peirced, along with my two bottom lobes. I plan on more. In the future I would like to get an industrial peircing, and I'm thinking on my eyebrow, , lip, and perhaps a vertical labret.

8. Brandings? None.

9. Scarification? I have many scars from a cutting addiction that can still be a problem. I don't show them, because I'm not too proud of them.

10. What is your biggest health risk surrounding your mods? None. The only problem I had getting my tattoo was keeping my breathing regulated so I wouldn't pass out during the procedure.

11. Which mod do you find most visually pleasing? Be specific - not just "piercings" but "vertical labret." I find vertical labrets, eyebrow peircings, and lip peircings to be the most pleasing.

12. What mods do you find the least visually pleasing? Same crtieria as above! I don't mind them, but I have a dislike for gauges in a person's ears. I don't mind the small ones, but the larger ones make me shudder a little. I don't like bridge peircings much.

13. Why do you find mods attractive as a whole? I'm in love with making your body personalized and your own. That's why my tattoo is important to me. I'll go on a limb of being laughed at by saying I think they're hot. Modifying my body is important to me because whether I have it now or plan to get it in the future, they'll all be important to me and have a meaning.

14. How do you respond to: "Does that hurt?" Plenty of people asked me if my tattoo hurt after I got it done. I told them the truth. For me, who has a low pain tolerance, it hurt like a bitch most of the time. I told them the shading tickled. It almost put me to sleep, actually.

15. Is your family mod friendly? Not most of them. My sister had her tongue peirced and has a tatto, a big one along the small of her back. My mother has a distate for peircings but a love of tattoos ( though she has none herself.) which I don't understand. She'll allow me to get tattoos but not any more peircings until I'm 18, even though the peircings are less permanant. My father has a strong dislike for them, and doesn't even know I have one. My aunt called me an idiot when I got my cartilage peirced. My family can be quite closeminded at times. My sister in law has 5 tats, though. A cousin of mine once tried to rub my tattoo away, because she was convinced that it was a fake.

16. Friends? Most of my friends are really into body modification. A friend of mine has his lip peirced, and a few of my other friends have their tongues done. My friend Natty her her eyebrow done. When I got my tattoo, there were a few disgusted look from the few bible-thumping kids in my school. My best friend plans on tattoos and a tongue peircing, and we're hoping on a road trip to NYC next year. She'll be 18, and I'll be able to get something peirced without visual parental consent, so I'm planning on my indutrial then, and she's going to get her tats/peircings then.

17. Workplace? I guess my workplace would be school, yes? Well, a recent incident occured when my English Lit class had a substitute in for our normal ( very accepting, btw) teacher. A few friends and I were talking about the mods we have, and our future plans for mods, and she glared at me when I said I had a tattoo. Then she called me a lowlife. Other than that, all the people ( kids, teachers, staff) that have seen my tattoo have liked it.

Pictures

I only have one good picture of my tattoo.

As I said, it's a scroll of parchment, the inkpot, and a feather quill. I hope to get it touched up this summer. I love the shading the woman did on the scroll, because it makes it look like an old, weathered document. If you can't tell, the tat is located on my left shoulder. For my 16th birthday, I'm hoping that I can get my second tattoo. My sister in law said she would take me to her tattoo shop. My design goes as follows: A celtic symbol of trinity, with the phrase " through our bleeding, we are one." written in Gaelic, through out the symbol. The symbol represents my family's heritage, as my great grandmother came her on a boat from Ireland. The symbol also represents trinity ( if you've ever watched the show charmed, it's the symbol on the " book of shadows." though, this symbol and the desgin they used for the show are somewhat different.) which is important to me because my mother, my sister and I are all very close. We can hate each other, but we're all very close. I also find it important because my two best friends and I are closer to each other than I am some of my family. The phrase is from a song by a band called AFI ( A Fire Inside). I take the saying as a family thing. Through bleeding and hard times, death and desertion, my family has always stuck together and pulled one another through tough shit. I'd like to get it on the inside of my left or right wrist. I haven't decided which yet.

Just Out Of Curiosity - these won't affect your application and won't be judged.
Are you on IAM?..No.( Not too sure what it is, either. o.O )
Where do you get your mods done? A specific artist and location is fun.--I got my first/only tat done at a shop that was open in my town for a while. The shop has since closed up. What a bummer.=/

The Application
Basics
1. Name: Claire.
2. Age: 20.
3. Gender: Girly.
4. Location: Widnes (a little town near Liverpool in England) or Bangor in Wales (depending on whether I'm at uni or not).
5. Who invited you to join, if anyone: Nobody =(

Mods - all of these come with the "why or why not" attached to them. Please explain why you decided to get each mods or why you've chosen not to have them. Leaving something blank isn't an option!
6. Tattoos? None yet, though I'm planning on getting a few, albeit small, inks later. I'm planning on getting "L21" on my ankle, as this was my room number in the university halls of residence for my first two years, where I met some of the best friends I could hope to have (a few of us are planning on getting our room numbers tattooed, though whether the others actually do it it another question, and pretty irrelevent to me). I'm also hoping to get my university barcode on the back of my neck, because I like the look of barcode tattoos, and I think it'll be a nice reminder of my time at uni in general. I'm also considering a Rocky Horror themed tattoo, as it is my big passion in life. I'm considering the lyrics "Don't dream it, be it" from the song of the same name in the Floor Show, possibly across my lower back, as it will be meaningful to me as a representative to my obssession, and because I think it's a beautiful motto to live by.

7. Piercings? I have 15 piercings (well, if you consider industrials two piercings, as I do). I have four lobe piercings, two of which I'm in the middle of stretching (I'm up to 8g with them now, and plan on stretching to 6g soon, my aim is possibly 0g though I'm not sure yet), one ear piercing which I'm not sure of the name of (it's either a very high lobe piercing or a very low helix piercing, I generally consider it a lobe piercing, but that doesn't seem quite right), I have an industrial in my right ear, a tragus in my left ear, a rook in my right ear, a helix piercing in my right ear, a vertical sternum piercing, an eyebrow piercing in my left eyebrow and both nipples pierced horizontally. I had my lower navel pierced too, but I took it out because it was migrating due to unsuitable jewellery, I'm planning on getting it re-pierced soon. I generally choose piercings based on where I feel like my body would be more complete with a piercing, or just whether I like the look of them. For example, I'm planning on getting my nose pierced (nostril) eventually, because I've started to feel like there's something missing from it. Though, I do plan on geting my tongue pierced as a sort of tribute to my nana, who died last summer (she was one of the members of my family who didn't just put up with my individuality, but actually encouraged it), and after her funeral, the idea just popped into my head, when I hadn't really even considered piercing my tongue previously, so I thought it would be kinda nice.
8. Brandings? I don't have any. I'm not really sure why, it's just not something I've ever considered, and it isn't something I can really see myself being interested in.

9. Scarification? I don't have any scarification either. From past experiences, I get kind of uneasy about cutting.

10. What is your biggest health risk surrounding your mods? I have low blood pressure, so I have been known to faint when I'm being pierced, and I get dizzy nearly every time, and I also have asthma, so combined with the light-headedness, I also get short on breath at times. But it's nothing especially serious, the most that I've ever had to do when this happen is lie down while the piercing is finished (my industrial) or have a glass of water afterwards (my sternum). Generally, I just take a minute after being pierced to get my head together, and make sure I have a Snickers bar handy to bring my blood sugar levels back up.

11. Which mod do you find most visually pleasing? Be specific - not just "piercings" but "vertical labret." Vertical sternum piercings. I just think they look really good on most people. Though, I may be biased as I had one done just a couple of months ago and am very much in love with it.

12. What mods do you find the least visually pleasing? Same crtieria as above! Bridge piercings. I'm sure they look good on some people, but I personally just don't think they look attractive.
13. Why do you find mods attractive as a whole? I like the idea of someone trying to make their body the way that they feel suits them better, and somehow is more 'complete' to them. And I just think they look good. I'm not sure how to describe why, that's just what my brain tells me looks good.

14. How do you respond to: "Does that hurt?" If it hurt, I tell them it hurt, if it didn't, I tell them it didn't. I don't really mind people asking that, it's when people are rude about it that I'm bothered.

15. Is your family mod friendly? Erm, they put up with them, so I suppose they are, except my dad. My dad describes my piercings as 'grotesque' and told me I 'better not get any more', but he doesn't know what I do and don't have pierced, so we just don't tell him when I get something new. My mum asks me not to get certain piercings, so seeing as she's generally good with my piercings, I'm respecting that. Tattoos are different though. I know I would get thrown out if I got a tattoo, so for while they're paying my tuition fees and giving me somewhere to live, I'm not going to get any. When I move out, then I'll start thinking seriously about getting tattooed.

16. Friends? Most of my friends have mods too, even if it's just a single tattoo or a tongue piercing or whatever, so pretty much all of my friends are pretty mod-friendly. Though, a couple of them cringe when they see my stretched lobes (god help them if they saw some big gauge stretches!), and I got a couple of "crazy lady" and "at least you can take it out when you realise how stupid it is" comments when I had my sternum pierced.

17. Workplace? In theory, no. I work in a bank, and was told I'd have to keep my ear piercings covered by my hair, and I'd have to take the bar out of my eyebrow. For the first week I kept my hair down, and wore a retainer in my eyebrow, but ocassionally I would wear my hair up and I never got comments from my boss, and I forgot to wear the retainer a couple of times, and again, never got a comment, so I stopped wearing the retainer and kept my hair up all the time and I've never had a problem. Some of the people I work with are a bit creeped out by them (especially the industrial), but generally when they talk about them, they're asking thing with genuine interest. And when they were looking at the taper I had in my ear when I was making the stretch to 10g, my boss made the comment "as your manager, I've not heard any of this", so I think they're pretty cool with it.

Pictures - post one to four pictures of your mods. This limit will be judged. I've asked for one to four pictures for a reason so pick the best. If a member so feels the need s/he will ask for more. You looking cute isn't good enough - we want to see that ear. Or vagina. Or shoulder.

This is the best picture I have of my eyebrow piercing, for some reason. Hopefully you can see it well enough. If not, let me know and I'll try and get a better one.

Sorry about the quality here. Everything's working against me for it! My digital camera is at uni, so I'm having to take pictures on my webcam. I took these, and because my Photoshop isn't working, I saved it as a .bmp, to try and save the quality, but the hosting sites I use all shrank it because it was a .bmp, so I had to save it as a .jpg on MSPaint, which reduces the quality. But yeah, here you can see all my ear piercings (lobes, helix, rook, tragus, industrial).

I decided to use two of my sternum, because the top one is kinda blurry, plus it was taken about an hour after it was pierced, so it was still red, and the second one is pretty small, and the colour's all messed up on it. Plus, in the top one, it looks wonky, for some reason. I can assure you, it's not, it was just the way it was pushed by my arm as I was taking the picture.

Just Out Of Curiosity - these won't affect your application and won't be judged.
Are you on IAM? Kinda. My IAM is http://iam.bmezine.com/?blooddoll, but my account expired, so it's not been updated in a while. I'm planning on submitting a few more experiences, but I've not had time to write them up yet, so my account is still inactive.
Where do you get your mods done? I've been to Tufuga Zoo in Widnes, Saz's in Warrington, Dr Feelgood's in Liverpool and Shiva Body Piercing in Affleck's Palace in Manchester, but most of my piercings are done by Carl at Dragon's Den in Bangor. When piercings done at the other places have gone wrong, it's him I've gone to for advice, and he's really great when he's doing piercings. Very professional, but also really friendly. Don't know what I'm going to do after I graduate in July and leave Bangor =(

Basics
1. Name: Ren
2. Age: 22
3. Gender: Female
4. Location: Columbus, OH, USA.
5. Who invited you to join, if anyone: No one.

Mods:

6. Tattoos? I have two. One of a circuit board in the inner side of my right thigh. I feel that the cyber lifestyle is something that I cannot escape and is embedded in me; this became very apparent when I was living in Tokyo, where I had the tattoo done. The second tattoo is a 19th century woodblock print rendition of Ono no Komachi. It's the start of a much larger piece, but it's there as a reminder to myself that I believe am I beautiful, no matter what.

7. Piercings? I have been pierced many times. Two on each ear lobe, I used to have an industrial bar in my left ear and two rings in the right cartilage. I used to have four lip piercings; one vertical labret, two spikes on the side as well as a ring on the side. I have one standard barbell in my tongue. I used to have a standard navel piercing. I ended up taking everything out but my lobe and tongue piercings because I started applying for jobs in a white collar work environment,

8. Brandings? I have none (yet). I haven't gotten any so far because there has just been a lack of interest and knowledge on the subject.

9. Scarification? The same as above, however I have been contemplating getting some done.

10. What is your biggest health risk surrounding your mods? Mitral Valve prolapse runs rampant in my family and I'm quite sure that I have it although I've yet to be diagnosed with it because my heart palpitations haven't reach critical mass yet. (It's a dangerous risk if mods get infected)

11. Which mod do you find most visually pleasing? I love lip piercings. To me they accentuate one of the sexiest parts of the body for me - the lips.

12. What mods do you find the least visually pleasing? Probably heavy genital modification such as male splitting, any amputation, mostly because it makes me think of the procedure itself and even though I try hard against it, the sight of it can tend to make me dizzy.

13. Why do you find mods attractive as a whole? To me, it is artwork; they are ideas. They are a great way to represent who you are without uttering a word. I find that attractive.

14. How do you respond to: "Does that hurt?" I've only been asked that about my piercings and I usually say, "About as much as getting a gauged needle shoved through (place) would."

15. Is your family mod friendly? I am the only one in my family with mods. My brother likes mine, my mother tolerates them, but my father hates my tattoos; he didn't seem to mind the piercings as much.

16. Friends? All of them seem pretty cool with it; then again, many of my friends are interested in mods. I have met many friends because they were interested in my mods.

17. Workplace? The remaining mods I have my workplace can't see.

Here are my tattoos:

My second Tattoo of Ono on Komachi, the "most beautiful woman of the Heian period." This photo is of the fresh tattoo before the last bit of detail was added to the kimono sleeves. I plan to have it colored in when I move to Japan.

My first tattoo. The image is that of a circuit board found inside of an electric guitar pick-up.

Are you on IAM? No, but I have been thinking about joining.

Where do you get your mods done? A specific artist and location is fun.
The majority of my piercings were done at Extreme Body Piercing in Tokyo Japan (Harajuku), by Gen Mukoyama.
I had my first tattoo done at Material World by Sue, in Kanagawa Japan (Yoga)
The second was done my Mike at Evolved in Columbus OH, USA.

Thanks!
Here's my application.

The Application
Basics
1. Name: Jessica

2. Age: 19

3. Gender: Female

4. Location: Joplin, Missouri

5. Who invited you to join, if anyone: I was just browsing and this community caught my eye.

6. Tattoos:
A) Lotus and om on my left ankle. I wanted this to go on my left forearm to cover some self-inflicted wound scars. I thought the peaceful image would help keep me from doing it, but at the time I was 18 but still living with my mom and she said nothing on my arms til I was out.
B) Kanji for family on the inside of my left foot by my heel a group of my closest friends went and got this together, but I didn't want a kanji to begin with so i put it someplace that wouldn't be too visible unless I wanted it to be, but I know its there and the meaning and that's all that matters. C) Flower with optical background on the outside of my right calf. It started out going in the direction of being smokey/dark and opposite of my peaceful lotus...but I LOVE color and we ended up making it brighter.
D) Sleeve in progress of tibetan style flowers and waves. I've always been interested in Buddhist/Hindu culture and the East in general. I found the flower in a tibetan symbols and motif encyclopedia. I don't really want any people on me and flowers will always be classic.
E)Chest piece of a traditional style wooden heart with a lock and wings. This one is still in progress as well. It reminds me that I can keep things locked in OR kept out.

7. Piercings:
Left ear - 2 14G helix (1 right above my tragus, the very top of my ear with a little 1/4'' BB, 10G helix, 8G lobe, 3/4'' lobe.
Right ear - 2 14G helix matching the other side, 2 10G helixes, 10 G orbital through conch and 2nd lobe hole, 3/4'' lobe.
Facial - Both eyebrows once each 16G, 14G bridge, 6 16G nostrils, 8G septum, 12G cheeks, 14G labret, 10G tongue on the right side (was supposed to be venoms but the dude screwed up the angle on the other side), 10G frenulum.
Body - Both nipples 10G, 3 14G upper navels, 2 14 lower navels, 1 12 vertical hood, 1 12G triangle, 4 12G outer labia, 1 12G fourchette, 1 10G christina.

8. Brandings: 1 from when I was learning to brand.. its just a 4inch long line across the very top of my thigh.

9. Scarification: None as of yet.

10. What is your biggest health risk surrounding your mods? Sometimes my cheeks irritated when I get sick.

11. Which mod do you find most visually pleasing? I personally think it depends on the person. Sometimes a piercing just doesn't fit or flatter a person. But if I had to list one.. Nostrils (if placed well) usually flatter most girls (and some guys!) Stretched ears and bridge piercings usually make me look again at guys.

12. What mods do you find the least visually pleasing? Any piercing with poorly fitting jewelry, i.e. cheeks with barbells that stick WAAAY out, massive diameters on eyebrows, and aside from septums and lip plates(to a certain extent) stretched facial piercings.

13. Why do you find mods attractive as a whole? As a piercer, I love seing people come in terrified and leave proud that they actually went through with it. It kinda gives me a refreshed view of humanity when all I see on TV is war/people getting hurt/etc. I love the anticipation before/adrenaline rush during/dedication(sometimes frustration) it takes to heal a piercing or tattoo. I love people with stories or meaning behind their mods. I've always just had a gut feeling to get them for myself. I still haven't pinpointed where it came from. lol
14. How do you respond to: "Does that hurt?" Depends on how they ask the question. I live in the Bible Belt region so I get a lot of rudely posed questions where I'm from. If they ask with genuine curiosity, even if it comes out kinda rude, I make a real effort to educate people. I want people to see that heavily modified people aren't just bikers, addicts, and fuckups.
Blatant assholes get my patience as long as its there...when I start getting angry or offended I just leave because I can't be mean to people on the chance they might come to the shop I work at.

15. Is your family mod friendly? Well, I paid for my mom's first tattoo and I pierced her and my grandmother's navels for mothers day a few years ago. I get the geez-not-another-one look from my family for tattoos more than piercings.

16. Friends? Yes.

17. Workplace? Of course. I won't work someplace that says no to them.

I did have an IAM account, from doing my first suspension, but I had to get rid of the internet and I lost it.

And for the most part I do my own piercings. My boss Dennis and my coworker Matt do my tattoos.

Application

Basics
1. Name: Anna
2. Age: 17
3. Gender: Female
4. Location: Oregon
5. Who invited you to join, if anyone: I was just lookin' through modification communities and after reading the userinfo here became extremely interested in joining. =)

Mods - all of these come with the "why or why not" attached to them. Please explain why you decided to get each mods or why you've chosen not to have them. Leaving something blank isn't an option!
6. Tattoos? None yet. I'm working on a couple of designs, one of which is the outline of a cassette tape with acid dripping off of it, and the other a sparrow. The cassette tape was inspired from a song I used to listen to when I was sad. I want to get it to remind me that in the hardest of times, life is still beautiful and that everything will be better. The sparrow will symbolize passion. I'm friends with an artist who offered to do them for me now, but I don't want anyone to get into any trouble, so I've decided to just wait the few months until I'm 18 out. =)
7. Piercings? I've got 4 in my right ear [3 18g and an 8g], 3 in my left [2 18g and an 8g], the right side of my lip and my bellybutton. They all have a symbol or memory attached. =) My boyfriend and I are going to get matching daith piercings and a few of my friends and I are going to get our traguses pierced to match when we're financially capable, lol. I love the idea of having a physically visible connection with the people that I hold so close to me.
8. Brandings? I'm not too knowledgeable about brandings, but I don't think I'd ever get one because the idea of my skin burning doesn't quite appeal to me personally.
9. Scarification? Again, personally I don't think I'd go for this sort of modification myself, but I have seen some VERY beautiful scarification work. I'm appreciative of any meaningful expression. =)
10. What is your biggest health risk surrounding your mods? Hm... none, really. The smaller gauges in my ears ALWAYS get infected when I'm stressed out, though.
11. Which mod do you find most visually pleasing? Be specific - not just "piercings" but "vertical labret." Most piercings that accentuate the lips I find very beautiful.
12. What mods do you find the least visually pleasing? Same crtieria as above! Lip plates. I just don't really find them all that practical. I don't really like it when people are almost completely hidden by piercings, either.
13. Why do you find mods attractive as a whole? I think they're beautiful in that you can wear your heart, emotions and stories on your body, that you can keep these things with you forever. My mods all mean something or remind me of something, and that is extremely important to me, and it makes me feel beautiful on many different levels to have them. That's what I see in other people, they've experienced and felt things and they wear it on the outside.
14. How do you respond to: "Does that hurt?" Lol, as honestly as possible.
15. Is your family mod friendly? Not at all. My mother and father adopted me, so they're much, much older... they're from a generation where physical modification wasn't really a concept and they think of it as self mutilation, which is really sad to me. My mom is a little more open than my dad and she's talked to me about it and asked my reasoning and understands it as a form of personal reflection, but she's still pretty opposed.
16. Friends? They're all very open and most of them have mods of their own. =)
17. Workplace? Not currently employed, but everywhere I've applied, I've asked about their policies and most of them were pretty laid back about it.

Pictures - post one to four pictures of your mods. This limit will be judged. I've asked for one to four pictures for a reason so pick the best. If a member so feels the need s/he will ask for more. You looking cute isn't good enough - we want to see that ear. Or vagina. Or shoulder.

The day after I pierced it.

Just recently. I LOVE this new jewelery, the guy who sold it to me was such an awesome guy, really fun to talk to and ended up giving me a big discount. =)

Right after it was piercing... it looks crooked, but it was a bad picture. Sorry. =\

Right ear, same as left minus the top earring. Sorry about the quality!

Just Out Of Curiosity - these won't affect your application and won't be judged.
Are you on IAM? Nope.
Where do you get your mods done? A specific artist and location is fun. All of my piercings are self done, but any cartlidge piercings are going to be done professionally. I don't have a location right now though, because our local piercing and tattoo shop closed down. =(

Hope you guys have a great day!

The app

Basics
1. Name: Caroline
2. Age: 16
3. Gender: girlie girl
4. Location: Washington, DC
5. Who invited you to join, if anyone: found through search

Mods - all of these come with the "why or why not" attached to them. Please explain why you decided to get each mods or why you've chosen not to have them. Leaving something blank isn't an option!
6. Tattoos? I have none. The first reason is because I'm under 18. The second is because I don't really want one, I'm sure that in a few years I'd get tired of the tattoo and later on regret getting it. But with piercings, you can always take them out, at least when they're completely healed. Plus, they hurt alot more than piercings from what I've heard.
7. Piercings? I only have 3. 1 lobe piercing in my right earlobe, 2 in my left. I got the first two done when I was a baby, and in my freshman year I did the 3rd piercing myself because I had a friend, Katrin, with a bunch of DIY ear piercings and they looked great so I did one myself. It got infected, so I just let it close. I redid the piercing a few months ago because I was bored and I wanted another piercing. This time I did it right, and now it's healed and lovely =D. I will definitely get more piercings when I'm 18, and I already know what I'll get. I'm going to get a snug, conch, helix, industrial, maybe an anti-tragus, and maybe a jestrum. I'm not sure about the last one because I've never actually seen one. I know what they are, and I have a good mental image of one, but I'd actually have to see a real person with a jestrum to make a decision. I'm also considering a lowbret. because they're rare and an be pretty. My mind might change on this though, since I have at least a year to fantasize about piercings.
8. Brandings? None. Again, I'm under 18, but I still don't want any branding. It's for the same reasons as the tattoo thing, but pain isn't an issue. I read that it only hurts for a second or so because it's so hot that it destroys your nerves.
9. Scarification? Not the kind you're thinking of. I have a ton of scars on my body, most are sadly purposely done, one of which is a poorly done "D" on my stomach. I was trying to carve "DIE" into it, but I never finished. So yah, no actual images done with scars.
10. What is your biggest health risk surrounding your mods? So far with what I have, infection would be it, and then the nasty shit that follows infection.
11. Which mod do you find most visually pleasing? Be specific - not just "piercings" but "vertical labret." Ha, funny. I think vertical labrets are gorgeous, especially on pouty lips. I also love helixes, snugs, monroes, conches, and basically any ear piercings. And I also find sternum piercings attractive and unique.
12. What mods do you find the least visually pleasing? Same crtieria as above! I think septums, jungles, bridges, smilieys, frownies, webs, madisons, deep clavicles, implants, lip plates, and cheeck piercings to be ugly. No offense to those of you who have them. I find genital piercings gross too. I also hate it when people go really overboard with body mods; it can be really disfiguring. my definition of overboard would be, like, at least 15 piercings in each ear, at least 5 in the nose, 10+ around the lips, etc. And bodies covered with tattoos are ugly. And facial tattooes... fucking tacky and ugly. And earlobe stretching. I'm talking about earlobes stretched at least 1/2 inch. It may not be that to you, but it is for me. Basically any extensively stretched hole in the body is unattractive to me.
13. Why do you find mods attractive as a whole? Woah... for a while I've always died to get piercings (sorry I only say piercings, but that's what I'm really after), but I've really thought of why. I guess... I like how they can separate someone from the crowd. They're just so different, they make you feel unique and beautiful, unless you're growing a keloid or something. I also like the feeling of sharp, ephemeral pain. It's stimulating and invigorating. And finally, the rebellion. My parents say I can't get any more piercings, or tattooes or anything, even after I turn 18, but of course I'm going to do it anyway, and their disapproval of them makes me want them more. The piercings, I mean. Kind of cliché, but that's how I feel.
14. How do you respond to: "Does that hurt?" Someone asked me that about my DIY piercing, and I said, "Just for a little."
15. Is your family mod friendly? Like I said earlier, no. They think they're tacky and "sheepish", which is stupid. The kind of body mods I want to get are not sheepish.
16. Friends? For the most part. Some of them don't want to get body mods, but the rest do. So it's a good mix.
17. Workplace? I don't work. But at my school, they don't really care so long as it isn't readily apparent or in a naughty place.

Pictures - post one to four pictures of your mods. This limit will be judged. I've asked for one to four pictures for a reason so pick the best. If a member so feels the need s/he will ask for more. You looking cute isn't good enough - we want to see that ear. Or vagina. Or shoulder.

Just Out Of Curiosity - these won't affect your application and won't be judged.
Are you on IAM? I've never heard of IAM, so no.
Where do you get your mods done? A specific artist and location is fun. Uh... I haven't done any of that yet. I'll be looking for piercing parlors in my area later. But I can assure you I'm not getting them done at the mall with a piercing gun.
