Paradise Lost art wallpaper for a PSP [16 Apr 2010|12:39pm]

gtasuxcoximho
Any of you Symphony X fans own a PSP? Want a cool wallpaper for it? Well I'm gonna supply one.

Also, if anybody can take any of the existing wallpapers on SymphonyX.com and make them the dimensions for a PSP wallpaper that would be freaking awesome.

Update from MJR :) [28 Dec 2009|05:00pm]

jaxita
Just got off the phone with MJR; he wishes everyone a Happy New Year and reports that the writing of the new cd is progressing well. He says that the riffs are written and all the ideas are there, they're just trying different arrangement ideas right now. We talked about how we're back to the usual routine of trying to find new ways to say the same old 'the band is writing the cd', and he said "It's hard to say. Every day is different, we're just doing our thing & trying to make the tunes cool. You put something together one day and then come back the next day & listen to it; sometimes it's cool, & sometimes it sucks & you have to change things around." They're still hoping to be done with the cd by spring.

SymX signs with Nuclear Blast! [13 Nov 2009|09:37am]

[ mood | busy ]

World Management and Nuclear Blast are extremely proud to announce the signing of Metal / Prog Gods Symphony X !!!

“As lifelong fans of the band, it is with great pride that Nuclear Blast announces the signing of US Metal / Prog Gods Symphony X!!!
Symphony X exemplifies the technical sophistication of progressive metal while transcending the genre by writing amazing songs with masterful musicality and great hooks!
This New Jersey-based super group effortlessly creates a balancing act between solid, accessible arrangements and song structures with highly technical, challenging instrumental work and unbelievable melodic vocal harmonies. This embrace of polyphonic lead vocals, combined with their classical-sometimes even Queen-like- choruses create a powerful, in-your-face mixture. With elements of thundering metal, rock, solos with unstoppable guitar shredding and intense keyboards - this potent group has grown with every release and is poised to compete with the commercial success of top groups in all genres!
Symphony X is currently creating their next masterpiece, anticipated in the spring of 2010! Together, we will bring this talent to a new level! We hope you are ready for the ride!”

“We are happy to be the part of the Nuclear Blast Family and look forward to working with them for many years to come,” says Michael Romeo.

Sym X and video games [04 Nov 2008|06:38pm]

gtasuxcoximho
How many of you fans of the band associate the band with video games you play?

I for one am playing the songs on winamp whenever I play an RPG, like Dragon Quest or Xenogears, in fact when I play I typically play Set the World on Fire during final boss battles of games like Final Fantasy VII, Dragon Warrior VII, Mortal Kombat Armageddon, and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.

Off topic but speaking of that I'm probably gonna make a VGMV using Seprpent's Kiss dedicated to Scorption and Sub Zero from Mortal Kombat someday.

SymX fan lunch at ProgPowerUSA [15 Sep 2008|01:38pm]

jaxita
For those of you attending ProgPowerUSA in Atanta next weekend, this year's SymX fan lunch is going to be held at 11:30am on Saturday the 27th at the Madison Grill (madgrill.com - 1375 Peachtree St NE, at the corner of Peachtree St. NE and 17th street). This will be especially handy for those of you staying at the Residence Inn, as it's right next
door (better odds of you dragging your hungover arses out for lunch if you don't have to walk far, right? *grin*); it's also just a short walk from the venue and the Granada. When you arrive, if we're not real obvious, just ask for the Symphony X lunch group (I've never eaten there with a large group before, so I don't know if they'll sequester us away or just shove us in a corner *g*).

I'm happy to say that we'll have some SymX goodies to give away; not sure if we'll have enough for everyone or if we'll have to draw numbers, that depends on how many people attend, but there will be SymX swag to be had. Much thanks to Glenn, SymX's faithful merch guy, for pitching in on this one. :) There'll also be nametags for everyone, and if there aren't enough goodies for everyone, we'll be drawing numbers from those nametags, so be sure to get one when you arrive.

You can find a map here; I put the restaurant, the venue, and the two most popular hotels on the map..if you're staying elsewhere, you may want to check a map or print out directions beforehand. I'll also have copies of it with me in Atlanta for those folks who never seem to know about the lunch until someone there tells them about it.

Oh, and the usual disclaimer: the band will NOT be there (though we often do give MJR a call & say hi to him en masse sometime during the lunch *grin*); this lunch is for the band's fans. It began at PPUSA2 when we had a catered lunch with the band in attendance, became a lunch for the band's mailing list members, & has since opened up to a general fan gathering & has been an annual event ever since (twice with the band).

Looking forward to seeing lots of you there next weekend!

Jax :)

Castle Fest canceled [07 Jun 2008|12:33pm]

jaxita
Symphony X will unfortunately not be appearing at Castle Fest in Serbia in July, as the festival has been canceled. A statement from the Castle Fest website:

Dear all,

We're very sorry to inform you that in the light of the latest situation developments, we're forced to cancel the Castle Festival.

This is the hardest decision we've ever made, but unfortunately this is also the only real option. Ticket sales are simply terrible (our lineup sold 350 tickets in total), and all other projects in Serbia are going down.

Political situation and local incidents which happened 3 months ago led to a few thousand e-mails of potential fans from abroad and another huge wave of mistrust.

In addition we will still make a Judas Priest + Cavalera Conspiracy show in Belgrade, Tasmajdan Stadium on July 1st 2008.

We will start refunding money to all those who bought tickets from June 20th 2008. Everyone will have the choice to get their money back or to convert existing Castle festival ticket to Judas Priest + Cavalera Conspiracy ticket.

Once again, our deepest apologies for this.
