I suppose it's not obvious steampunk... but I suppose I can see a steampunk gal in it... especially maybe the western type? ;) Personally I think the dangley metal heart adds the charm. Any later and you will have to stand in line like everyone else.

And anyone in London you have 7:00 -7:30pm to get a pass on standing in line too.

Do remember just because you might come late does not mean you can't still come, as the scope is still a great deal of fun to look at. It is a good spot to meet up before you go out on your night adventures and a great back drop for photos.

My loved people who dwell in the wonderful areas of NY and my favorite city across the pond, London.

Let's have an Event shall we?
Sales

Also, anyone looking to pick up a clip-on eye-loupe? I have two that I've no use for and will sell cheap, cause I really can't stand the clutter. My life is chaotic enough as is.

Job

Further, any illustrators here? I'm sketching an idea for a no-dialogue 28/32 page comic and while I could draw it, I'd rather find someone with a style that is nice and clean (think Milo Manara), and still can turn out a page every two days or so. Paying gig, yes. Not much, but you'll live, I'm sure. Only need someone who does line-work–I'll handle colors, layout, flow, composition, setting, etc. Email me (check my user info) with a link to samples. I'd do it myself, but my plate is very full lately.

NYSTEAM BOOK!

Last: I'm going to produce a NYSTEAM Book of art, poems, music, graphic stories, and literature! I'm demanding, selective, and downright blunt to the point I've hurt feelings as an editor, but C'est La Vie. NYSTEAM Vol. 1 will replace my earlier concept of a periodic zine. It will be print on demand and if I accept your submission, your prize is a free copy and my love. The former is more valuable, the latter more rare.

Guidelines: Submit an Email by June 30th with the .DOC file attached, or the image linked. Music is to be published as sheet, not recorded. I require a recording to judge, however. Post as a link for listening or download. Talent in the latter is immaterial, but it wouldn't hurt me ;)

All work must be original and unpublished. Either the author or the concept must come from the NY Metropolitan area and the time setting must be between 1800 and 1940. The story need not be focused on "Steampunk" aspects, but it must have the flavor involved.

I will judge as harshly as I am wont, but fairly and honestly always.

Well, that's all for tonight. Oh, I take it back. Query, dear friends. Should the book be available A: only in hardover, B: Only in softcover, or C: In both?

While Hardcover at all will be more difficult and expensive, C is exponentially so. But if there's demand, there's demand.

Crossposted to a few places.
I've been spending long hours in my laboratory of late, crafting neo-Victorian steampunk curiosities from found objects and antiquities. My workshop contains antique brass pipework, gears and springs, organs and specimens in various liquid-filled jars or terrariums, whimsical iron birdcages, countless sepia photographs and well-worn journals, and all manner of clockworks. There's a row of ominous-looking bottles holding various chemicals and solutions, and a shelf filled with the compasses, dials, and gauges used to maintain precise control over the elements.

Seize your goggles, set your pocketwatches, and embark with me on a steam-driven journey back to a time that never was. The dog-leg scissors and sharp moon blade are adorned with tiny brass gears on the handles, the pick has a brass handle wrapped in silver wire for a precise grip, and the divining compass (a hybrid of a divining rod and a compass) is Dr. Gravel's own invention. Black grosgrain ribbon loops hold each in place, and the two heaviest items are further reinforced by gear snaps. Case measures 23 cm long, 16.5 cm wide, and 5 cm deep.

See the Expedition Tool Kit here, or visit Theriaca Fina here.

[Crossposted to relevant communities.]

Each is a small (er, define "small"... I walk forty some minutes every day I work...) walk to the venue in question, and an early meetup allows us time to chat, socialize, do photos, laugh, eat, drink, and prep for the madness (if people want a later meeting time... er, tell me what time the doors open!). We're going to stand out... but I don't know how much my sparky spirits can take. Of course, it seems to have a british theme and is highly thought of, so perhaps...

That's what I've got, and yes, this is cross-posted like mad.

They can be just about anything, save a jet pack as I've already used it. So I turn to you good folks. What's something steamy and delicious you'd love to have that fit perfectly into the era? I can include a pretty decent amount and have left myself the ability to do so. I look forward to what suggestions I receive.
(Cross-posted a bit. Sorry for any repeats!)
