If you all don't already know all of this, here's what just popped into my inbox:

DANIEL JOHNS MAKES APRA AWARDS HISTORY

Daniel Johns made history at the 2008 APRA Awards held in Sydney last night when he won the prestigious APRA “Songwriter of the Year” award.

This latest achievement makes the Silverchair frontman the first songwriter in the 26 year history of the APRA Awards to receive this honour on three separate occasions (he also won in 1995 with bandmate Ben Gillies and then in 2003 for his work on “Diorama”).

In addition to winning “Songwriter of the Year” Daniel’s composition “Straight Lines” (which he co-wrote with The Presets’ Julian Hamilton) was named the APRA “Song of the Year” and the “Most Played Australian Work”.

“It’s a serious honor to be recognized by your peers in the music community” Daniel Johns said “Writing songs means everything to me so to receive these awards for the art of songwriting feels particularly special.”

These acknowledgements by APRA and its members cap an extraordinary year for Daniel and his Silverchair bandmates. After a lengthy hiatus the group returned in 2007 with their fifth consecutive number 1 charting album “Young Modern”. The disc was among the most acclaimed of the group’s career. It went on to be certified triple platinum and swept last year’s ARIA Awards.

After last night Daniel Johns now has the unprecedented honour of winning both more APRA Awards AND more ARIA Awards than any other artist in history. He recently turned 29 years old.

After touring non-stop into early 2008, Silverchair is currently on a well-earned break. The band hopes to return to the studio next year.

Does anyone have the songs from the iTunes singles for "Reflections Of A Sound" and "Mind Reader"?

I tried to switch my iTunes to Australia but it won't let me purchase them cause my billing address isn't in Australia. If anyone has them can you send them to me?

I am so close to having every Silverchair single. Besides those I need to get "Findaway" and "Without You". I can't find "Without You" anywhere and not even the Diorama Boxset. And "Findaway" is going or $50 on Ebay which I can't afford. =( Anyone know where I can find those 2 cds for cheaper? I'd pay $20 each.

I am looking for the large, close-up photo of Daniel where he is wearing a green blazer and smiling. I have it as the background on one computer, and want to switch it to another, but I cannot remember where I found the picture.

so, i just realized how much i miss silverchair.

i had good experiences & one bad experience in my concert viewings of them on '07 & i really really really miss them. i want to see them again but i heard they are writing a new album. if this is the case then by all means i'll keep on missing 'em til they come back to the US.

i was going thru photobucket and doing a picture survey & one of the questions that was "Who is your celebrity crush" and of course, I put daniel in the seach bar to find a picture of him & i found the most gorgeous one of him I ever found! have a looksie:

it's sad to hear what happened b/w him and natalie, but i'm sure it was for the best. i just hope they return. they cant do what they did before & took almost 5 years off before another album was released. no more of that!

and my all time fav album is "Diorama" but they're albums get better & better with each release. When I want to see them in concert, I just pop in the Silverchair & Powderfinger DVD and enjoy. lol. i'm sad, i know.

but I thought i would just share my thoughts on the return of silverchair & how much i miss them!

Box sets?

So tonight as I go through the tedious process of putting all of my music on my computer for the second time, I got to thinking about boxed sets. The Diorama Box is one of my favorite possessions, and I was so ecstatic to find a Freak Box Set that I never even unwrapped it. But what about Neon Ballroom? Is anyone aware of a box set for that? I'd be overjoyed, but I don't think it exists.

In sadder news, my special import copy of the CD/DVD of Young Modern was stolen out of my car along with 20 other CDs (and furthermore, my iPod, which I managed to get back--unfortunately it was wiped, thus all the re-importing of songs). Let's hope that something good comes out of this and someone learns about the magic of silverchair through stolen property.

A couple people expressed interest, so I put together a list of all the extra Silverchair items I own and would like to sell. I even took pictures of every single item this morning, so there would be no surprises for anyone. Also to prove that the items actually exist. :)

I've never done a sale on LJ before, so I'm not quite sure what the rules should be. I thought about doing it a bit auction style, but visions of massive confusion made me scrap that idea. So, we'll do it first come first serve and as items are claimed (seriously) I will cross them off the list. Unless someone is willing to pay more then the listed price for a claimed item, then we may have to do a few items silent auction style, but I don't really see that happening too much.

Take a look, if you see any items you wants to buy, post a comment saying so. I'll leave this up till next weekend (March 8th), that way everyone in the comm will have a chance to check it out. Next week I'll work out the shipping charges and payment options for buyers and we'll go from there.

hi everyone!

I was driving in my dad's car today [he works for VW &gets a company car] which has Sirius radio.
I didn't feel like taking out the navigation DVD to put in a CD, so I changed the station to Lithium 24, which is 90's Alternative. occasionally they'll play 'Tomorrow.'

when I turned it on, the screen flashed 'DJ SILVERCHAIR' which got me excited, because I thought Silverchair was up next.
turns out the boys were DJ'ing the station!! I started screaming, and only heard Ben say, "Lithium 24. With Silverchair."
I guess every half an hour a musical guest DJs the channel, talking only in the beginning and then picking songs. I didn't get to hear the beginning since I had just gotten in the car, but was ecstatic to hear Ben!

just thought everyone should know :]

Imbruglia and Johns call it quits (Friday January 4, 07:46pm)

Diverging music careers have forced Natalie Imbruglia and silverchair's Daniel Johns to divorce.

The two Australian favourites have announced an end to their marriage after four years. They began dating in 1999 and married on New Year's Eve in 2003. But successful careers have kept the two working on opposite sides of the world.

For the past few years, Imbruglia has spent much of her time in Europe while Johns has been touring Australia and the United States.

"This mutual decision has not been taken lightly or quickly," the pair said in a joint statement. "However, our career demands and our lives in different parts of the world have brought us to the point where unfortunately this difficult decision was necessary for both of us. "We have simply grown apart through not being able to spend enough time together."

Imbruglia and Johns said they had issued the statement to eliminate "speculation" and asked they be left alone regarding "this very private matter". They said they would not be making any future statements about their divorce.

I guess it was only a matter of time that they were going to split :( It can't have been easy maintaining a relationship being half a world apart most of the time. They were also rather cute together! And good on them for not selling their story to the media too!

hello again!
this is probably a stupid question but I am going to ask anyways.

I was thinking about joining the Llama Appreciation Society. I hadn't joined before because I didn't have a credit card. I was wondering what the pros/cons are of being a member. I know you get heaps merchandise, so is it worth it?

I do not know why I forgot to post this here last week, but here it is...

I recorded 3 shows last week here in the midwest & i put them together as one big torrent to download.... get it over @: Dime or @ Traders Den if you do not have an account @Dime. The Indy show turned out the best and the other 2 turned out very very good. Check 'em out... mp3 samples are available at the above links.

I included the 14 total best pictures from the 150+ pictures my friend and I came away with. They are all in the original sizes, so you may develop them and frame them if you would like. Here is one of em:
