Enthusiasm is good, psuedo-intellectualization is fine, obsessing over the physics of fictional realities is a little pathetic healthy. But some of us are tired of reading "OMYGOSH YAOI IS SOOOO NON-CANON" while trying to get our pr0n fix. Now, we aren't saying that psuedo-intellectualizing a Shounen Jump series like Naruto is A FUCKING WASTE OF TIME etc; we're just saying it's off topic.
That being said, here are the rules for joining and posting to this community.
1) Can I join?
Yes. But here are some rules. Follow them, or ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) eightfold will boot your ass.
- Post in English, which means proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax. "..." is not the punctuation mark used to end a sentence, and capital letters are required. Typos, slang, and casual as opposed to formal usage (ie: starting a sentence with prepositions) are all acceptable: netspeak and Otakunese^^;;;; aren't.
- Don't post "wouldn't it be great if someone wrote a fic where [stuff happened]", or similar attempts at soliciting others to write fic/draw fanart for you. If there's something you really want to see, we reccomend (and we tolerate) bribery. Note: "undying love", offers of marriage, babies, etc, are not to be considered proper bribes. Fic, fanart, icons, layouts, webhosting, and money are.
- Don't get all up in anyone else's shit. If you don't like a pairing or "fan sexual orietnation" (het, yaoi, yuri, gen), we don't care. Shut up. If you think het is squicky, all yaoi is WRONG, fanworks with under-18 characters is wrong, non-con is gross, yuri is disgusting, gen is boring, or anything along those lines, either SHUT UP AND KEEP IT TO YOURSELF or be banned. Pairing-related debates are fine, but should be kept seperate from fanworks, and must be initiated as such. Do not confuse "I don't like this pairing (but the fanfic was good)" with legitimate criticism/discussion of a fic; it will not be tolerated. If you want to fight about who Shikamaru is "best with", do it behind an LJ-cut, clearly marked as such in it's own post, so that only people who want to engage in pairing wars have to see them.
- Put accurate warnings on your fanworks while LJ-cutting them. Pairing, explicitness, and any extra-sensitive bits of information (shota/loli-con, excessive gore, suicide, any squicks not otherwise conveyed in pairing) should suffice. For example: A pic with a normally-drawn Orochimaru fondling a normally-drawn, grumpy, bare-chested Sasuke should be labeled 'Orochimaru x Sasuke, R'. A pic with a normally-drawn Orochimaru shoving snakes in the tender orifices of a squirming, completely-and-explicitly naked Sasuke who's been drawn so that he looks about six years old, would be 'Orochimaru x Sasuke, NC-17, Shotacon, Non-con, tentacles'. Use common sense here.
- If you don't want your fanworks actively criticized, only praised, say so. If you say you want your worked criticized, accept such criticism gracefully and don't whine. Don't tear into people who've admitted they only want praise.
- LJ cut everything - fanworks, discussion posts, etc; EVERYTHING - with as descriptive a tag as possible. We do mean everything. Spoiler warnings/space/lavels for the manga and anime are appreciated; however, this is a "READ AT YOUR OWN RISK" community, and short of blatant trolling, people will not be banned for posting spoilers.
- Cruel and vicious mocking of Naruto fans who take themselves too damn seriously, the posting of Naruto-related wank, and Naruto-related fanbitching are as welcome as any other form of fan discourse, provided they are acurately labelled and LJ-cut.
- All Naruto, all the time. Other anime, manga, etc, are largely irrelevant, unless one is making a specific point about Naruto. We do not care who would win in a fight between Jiraiya and Vegeta.
- Act like a reasonable human being.
All of this is open to interpretation by the mod(s). She/they reserve(s) the right to add, refuse to add, or restrict/ban anyone from the community, at any time, for any reason, including no reason at all and "I don't think you're good enough". No pretense is made about fairness.
2) Okay! How do I join?
Email snarling_fangirl@yahoo.com with a) the LJ username you wish to join the community under, and b) an offering of (preferably) porn, either fanart of fanfiction. Pairing does not matter, het/yuri/yaoi does not matter, only basic quality and willingness to contribute. If you are primarily into gen, that is also acceptable, as long as it's entertaining or appealing. If you don't write fanfiction or draw fanart, essays, screencap-based-comics, other forms of humor, and other such "typical fan offerings" are also acceptable, so long as they are amusing or entertaining. Particularly impressive collections of links to obscure Japanese fanart may also be acceptable.
Once eightfold has received your offering, if she judges it worthy, you will be added to the community. You must then repost your initial offering, posted under an LJ-cut, as above.
All posts are to be locked so only members of the community can comment on them. Whether or not to friends-lock an individual post is left up to the poster. |
