Full Season for Season Four?

From Ask Ausiello:

Question: Do you have any information regarding Prison Break's future? Is there any hope of getting all 22 episodes this season? -- Adry

Ausiello: Well, there is now. Not so much two weeks ago, when Fox told producer Twentieth Television that they only needed 16 episodes this season instead of the originally-agreed-upon 22. (Quick sidebar: Ironic that the network would make such a request this season when the show's actually good. Where were they last season when it sucked!) Anyway, Twentieth's response to Fox went something like this: "You asked for 22, you're getting 22!" So, to answer your question, Adry, yes, there will be 22 Prison Breaks this season.

My comment?

PHEW! and HURRAH!

Prison Break 4x07

*Hey, T-Bag only had one good arm left and Gretchen had to mess it up! I don't think T-Bag really minded too much, though. Ew.

*Yes, Sucre, please do shut up the Weasel! :)

*Aw, the wormy guy from 24 is the target? I didn't care for him much there and his latest incarnation is truly horrid. I guess the streak of great extras had to end sometime.

*Yes, threaten them with jail. 'Cause then your little scheme would be so easy to explain to your superiors, Weenie.

*Okay, I kind of liked how Weasel's replaced Bellick as the comic relief/punching bag.

*Weenie asking Mahone for advice--that's the first smart thing he's done!

*Yes, be like Mike! :)

*SuperMax? I'm drawing a blank....what was that?

*I LOVE how Michael tosses in the little random things to make Sara smile. It's so sweet. And then he watches her walk away with this look that lets us know she'd better come back safe or else.

*Smells like a setup....and it is. What a shock. *rolls eyes* Michael, I'm not asking you to put any faith in Bellick, but come on...

*Wow, Trishann ties Bellick up awfully fast.

*Mahone's look of...I can't even describe it...plotting doesn't do it justice...was so right!

*The T-Bag/Michael scene was well done. I liked how T-Bag uses nicknames, yet Michael doesn't stoop to his level--he still calls him 'Theodore' to appeal to what little reason he has left. And T-Bag's right...Michael has come a long way from the days in the yard at Fox River.

*Wyatt's got lye in his trunk? Wait, isn't that what Mahone used in HIS backyard? Wow, talk about your irony.

*Props to the show for showing daytime shots of Vegas sans the cheesy canned music.

*As much as I love his eyes, Wentworth is not convincing me he's worried or conflicted at all. He just looks mildly apathetic that T-Bag threatens Trishann. (Those two are doing a much better job of keeping it real.)

*Gosh, a blueprint. Isn't this just Michael's lucky day?

*"Feel free to pitch in here, Miss Daisy!"--cracked me up! Oh, T-Bag, you have a nickname for everyone--and that was the perfect thing for him to say to express his frustration at being caught in the middle.

*"Let them come." Ah, but you don't know it's MAHONE on your trail!

*Aw, as if Michael needed more mental anguish. I liked how Linc related everything matter-of-factly. He wouldn't be emotional about it, not in front of anyone. That's Linc.

*I....didn't know ankle monitors came off so easily. Huh. Weenie will be disappointed to know that.

*Wow, Gretchen got rid of her bruises pretty quickly to charm the office guy. He's kind of cute, it's too bad he doesn't get to stick around. Although the fact that T-Bag lets Gretchen kill him was kind of odd...until I wondered if maybe he liked watching her do that even more than getting the revenge himself. Welcome back, Teddy.

*The money bit confused me at first...until I remembered good ol' DB Cooper.

*Thank God 'Scuderi' was wearing a shirt. Hope he put on lots of sunscreen, too. He's too pale to be out in the sun too long.

*I'm glad Weenie did take Mahone's advice, but I have to say...if I was a lawyer and got such a mysterious package, I'd open it right then and there, not wait until someone got killed. Of course, maybe lawyers get such letters everyday, I don't know...

*I didn't know LA had a river! Well, this show is entertaining and educational!

*"That's a closet." "No, it's not." :D

*A..whale? What's a whale? Wait, do I want to know? Sometimes this show is a little TOO educational.

*Okay, that's strike three for Sara's wily ways. I'd say give it up.

*ROFL!!!! Poor Sucre!

*T-Bag and Michael in a closet...and no violence? Wow, some people are going to be very disappointed.

*THEY FOUND A HATCH!!! ROFLOL!!!!! Oh, I want an icon of that moment!

*Yeah, suck in that gut, Scud.

*I have always loved that look Sucre gets when he has to do something he hates. Remember the days of the sheet, anyone?

*That is officially the most hideously garish wallpaper I have EVER seen.

*I love how Sucre is so polite when he's nervous. Hehe.

*They take Weasel's device but leave his face intact? That is so wrong.

*What? Why does Gretchen want T-Bag back? Grr...just when I thought they had him out of the way! Michael vs. Gretchen is a much more emotional conflict, though.

Not my favorite episodes, but it sets up a lot of great challenges...getting the device, the final card (there's one more, right?), and getting into the General's basement. I can't believe we have to wait two weeks for the next episode!

Stephen King: Why I Love 'Prison Break'

Here's a truth that should be self-evident: There can be a big difference between what you think is great and what you actually like. When it comes to TV, the finest series currently on offer is — in your Uncle Stevie's humble opinion — Breaking Bad (not AMC's other series, Mad Men, which is just soap opera with a great retro feel). But when it comes to what I'd walk over my grandmother not to miss, the answer is Prison Break. Simple as that. I love Prison Break madly, deeply, truly.

Before you rush to catch up on everything you've missed, let me warn you: If you picked up the first three seasons on DVD and watched them all at once, your frakkin' head would explode. I've scoped the entire run, and even I have only the dimmest idea of what's going on. And that doesn't detract from my pleasure even a little bit. Here's a rough summary of Our Story So Far, concocted not with help from the usual Internet sources but from my own little Break-obsessed head. EW fact-checkers will try to fix this. I won't let them.

So okay, there are these two brothers, Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield (I don't remember why they don't have the same last name). Linc gets convicted of murdering the Evil President's brother, and is sentenced to death at Fox Mulder Memorial Prison (or maybe it's Fox River; I know there's a Fox in there somewhere because the show's on Fox). Michael commits a robbery so he can also go to prison and bust his brother out. The escape plan is tattooed on Michael's body. (It gets lasered off in season 4: the whole thing, all at once. Ouch!) Michael befriends the warden, who's making a Taj Mahal out of Popsicle sticks, and falls in love with the prison nurse, Sara. In season 3, Sara gets her head chopped off, but it's mistaken identity and she comes back in season 4.

With me so far?

Anyway, Michael and Linc escape with a bunch of assorted fruits and nuts. The most over-the-top is T-Bag, a degenerate Night of the Hunter-type psycho brilliantly played by Robert Knepper. There's also this one guy who's a few fries short of a Happy Meal and wants to live in a painting. Of Holland, I think. (He jumps off a water tower.)

The second season is the best, a Sam Peckinpah shoot-out with the escapees looking for some money buried by — I think — mythic skyjacker D.B. Cooper. They are chased by a badass prison guard named Bellick and a pill-popping FBI lunatic named Alex Mahone. Mahone killed and buried a guy in his backyard, but that's another story. (Oh, and T-Bag lost a hand and had a vet do a transplant, but it didn't work; the hand now looks like something swiped from a department-store dummy.)

Here's the part that kills me: All the survivors except Linc wind up in a Panamanian prison! Yes! It's called Sona (Spanish for ''Fox Mulder''). This is the strike-shortened third season, and it's gotta be the sweatiest 13 episodes of TV ever filmed. As an added taste treat, the swag-bellied Bellick (Wade Williams) stumbles through the first two in a pair of filthy undershorts. Not a yummy picture.

Needless to say, there's another escape. T-Bag gets lost in the desert and is forced to chow down on his running buddy. When The Bag finally catches a ride, the driver sizes up his nausea and inquires, ''What's wrong, man? Eat some bad Mexican?'' Classy! Well, you know what they say: If you can't eat the one you love, eat the one you're with.

Turns out the president's brother was murdered by a shadowy outfit called The Company, and now Linc, Michael, the resurrected Sara, and their cohorts must take the bad guys down, including dragon lady Susan B. Anthony (sometimes known as Gretchen — don't ask).

What makes this so much damned fun are bright exteriors, crisp cutting, outrageous action sequences, and, most of all, the acting ensemble. I especially enjoy William Fichtner as Alex Mahone — Fichtner's probably the best character actor on TV. These guys play it straight, so the audience does the same. There's also a crazy existential subtext: No matter what these hapless escapees do or how fast they run, they always end up...booya!...back in prison.

For season 5, I hope it's a gulag in Siberia.

source

Hi, all!

On a whim, I wrote up a little season one remembrance post.. Composed basically of all things amazing in season one that I desperately miss. Also a bit of a picspam to go along with it. :] Check it out if you don't mind!

HERE at dynamics_xxdynamics_xx

</lj>
Prison Break 4x06

Spoilers for 4x06 and one for 4x07 (just from what they previewed):

*Loved the tight editing, straight into the caper beginning to this episode.

*What if Self got taken out? Where would that leave the team? It'd be very interesting, that's for sure.

*Wow, the team found a hat store and Michael gets stuck with the Gilligan look? That's so wrong. Yay for the hats actually blending in with a hat-wearing crowd, though.

*Bellick's freak-out was so funny....and so much more so because I bet it's happened a million times in real life. Props to him for that, although later he asks to know what his exact role will be...yeah, we're all wondering the same thing, Bellick. At least you're being semi-helpful now, even if it's just as a diversion.

*Sara does Southern quite well. This is twice now that her routine doesn't get quite what she wants, though. Tsk, tsk. Perhaps she can con an inmate next episode.

*I really didn't think Mahone would sign for Self. Wow, that look of betrayal he gave him!

*Parking garage, check. Dim lighting, check. Shaky camera, check. Self about to get jumped, check. Wyatt had the Weenie whipped.

*The Lincoln (car) commercials crack me up. Not that they're funny, I just love a tie-in, however minute.

*Yeah, yeah, Self has a life, he's human, suckered some chick into marrying him, blah, blah, blah...

*Mahone go rogue? I doubt it, he's been acting a little too level-headed this episode.

*Wait, they can break into a consulate but not a police station? Come on, it's just like a tiny jail! No problem!

*Wyatt and his sunglasses are OTP.

*Gretchen had a life, was human, still maybe a little....aww. I don't really want her to end up a hero, but the enemy of her enemy...

*Ah, the memories of the team messing with electricity....good ol' season two...

*Who IS this guy who keeps hassling T-Bag? I mean, I know he has to have a timeline, too--but really--he just got hired by the bigshot, can this guy really take him down so quickly? And why does he even care? Doesn't he have any work of his own to do?

*Nope, that guy has NO clue what you've been through, Gretchen. And WHERE do you get the batteries for your phones?

*This is one of the most tense courtroom scenes I've ever seen and there were no legal proceedings at all! :)

*Aw, the Mahone reuniting with the team was so sweet. It was so mushy, Linc had to leave the circle first. Which totally fits. :)

*Lincoln, keep your punching bag occupied or unconscious. Less hassle that way.

*T-Bag and GRETCHEN?!??! I sense some chaos headed our way!

*Yay for the return of 'Pretty'! I know, I'm crazy, but no one says it like T-Bag and Michael's irritated looks are always fun.

***Oh, and one more thing from last week. It didn't hit me until later, but when the secretary Bellick and Sucre are cleaning around confronts them, she asks them if they're using lye on the floors. Lye--lie? Get it?! I sure found that amusing, I'm surprised I didn't notice it the first time around.

So what did you think? :)

Prison Break 4x05

Having had the chance to watch the episode through twice (thank you, fox.com!!), I now present you with...

I had more time this week to reflect on this episode, so here goes the nit-picking! :)

*The assassin, Self, and Roland shall hereafter be known as Wyatt, Weenie, and Weasel. I like the alliteration.

*Large men ducking behind cars isn't a bit suspicious, Wyatt. I'm sure Sara won't notice you at all. How did they find a car big enough for you to hide behind, anyways? (I'm just saying--he's tall!)

*Sara gets a nod of approval for not only losing Wyatt in traffic--literally--but also being smart enough NOT to lead him back to the guys. THANK YOU, SARA! (No "Why did Sara cross the road?" jokes here, noooo...) Also, how cool would it have been if Wyatt HAD gone under that semi?! Just saying...

*And we cut right to the most heartbreaking scene thus far-Mahone and Pam were SO GOOD. That said, how is it they don't have a waitress bugging them every five seconds? And why is she giving him a book? Is it filled with drugs? Is that supposed to help? Oh, a gun...okay, I guess that's plausible. It's not like the Weenie would have let the gang have guns to help pull off their heists. I wonder if Pam would have had second thoughts if she knew what Alex had done with guns in the past, though...

*What kind of convoluted setup did Whistler...er...set up? 'Cause T-Bag is floundering here. Cue the teabag (THAT pun was intended, I'm sure) dramatic tense camera shots of doom. I'm not sure what it revealed, but I'm sure it's helpful. I'm not sure how Whistler got lemon with his water in Sona, but...I guess it could have been done prior to that little chapter in his life. ;)

*"Now he's coming to kill us." Thanks, Captain Obvious!

*The safe! Where do I start? First of all, lucky for Weenie that it was opened AT ALL so they knew where the card was. Secondly, I cracked up at the 'insignia' and figured that even Michael might have a tough time cracking a nuclear safe (or at least one that was a biometric hazard). His look of confidence was priceless, though. Plus, he has Linc..who I would bet has cracked a few safes in his day.

*"They had those guys at Fox River, too."--Um yeah, YOU, Michael!

*I am amused by the name 'Middleton' cropping up again in the show. It was also part of the name of the firm Michael worked for when this whole shindig started, remember? No? Well, it sticks with me because..um..it's my last name. I'm not sure why the name is significant to the writers, perhaps it's just a fluke, but I still love that it's included.

*That said, I am still amazed by the great extras casting this show has had. The women have been particularly good. Keep up the good work! The hotel guy (and this is random) reminded me of a cross between Jon Lovitz and Norbert Leo Butz.

*I loved how they kept the team going 3 separate directions and balanced it all.

*Okay, Bellick and Sucre get the award for WORST alibi of the week. (Are they now the BS team? Let's hope not!)

*Michael gets mechanical! I love to watch him take things apart and put them back together! That is much more his forte than management.

*Sure, Weenie, drive your humongous van right inside! I guess your sedan's in the shop?

*Okay, I love Linc and Michael in suits, but they hardly seemed necessary--and where did they come from? I guess the same place Bellick and Sucre got official janitorial garb.

*Shoot, Weenie, we were gonna sing like canaries when we get grabbed and mention your name right off! Now you ruined our plan! *rolls eyes*

*Weasel--don't talk, get a haircut, and if you turn out to be a spy, I just might actually take an interest in your character.

*Sucre can lift Linc! That's impressive!

*I love that Trishann(e?) is becoming a regular character...but really...isn't a percentage even MORE greedy, given 'Cole's' reputation? I loved how T-Bag put that one over with only the smallest of smirks.

*Splitting a burger and fries? Seems like an odd sort of professional lunch, but times are tough.

*Linc KNOWS! Apparently Michael's had this health problem before....his excuse is crap, though. "Acclimating to a warmer climate"? Um, hello....PANAMA?

*I want a rolling bookcase that nothing falls off of when it is moved! ;) That tiny hammer is a comedown from the axe, though. And I kind of laughed at the absurdity of Michael drawing an 'x' on the wall for Linc.

*Wyatt, no more monologues. PLEASE.

*JUST TAKE THE CARD!!

*Sara found a lovely necklace at the Weenie Thrift Store, too! I loved her confession to Michael. Yay for them being honest and willing to do whatever it takes to stay together no matter how tough it is!

*GRETCHEN IS BACK! NOW THINGS WILL GET SCARY! I love her so much! She's my favorite TV villian since Miss Parker!

Overall, it wasn't one of my favorite episodes, but several little moments made up for it. Next week's preview was certainly intriguing!
Scoop from Watch With Kristin

Prison Break: There Will Be Blood

When Wentworth Miller bleeds, you pay attention. That's the clear message in our email inbox, which is flooded with questions from you fans about the "health condition" affecting Prison Break's dead sexy but hopefully not dying Michael Scofield.

Your fears about the fate of our beloved Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) have been duly noted, and because I love you (and Wenty) so very much, duly investigated. Want to the answers to your burning Prison Break Q's? Read on!

Charlotte in Nice, France: I need to know something about Michael on Prison Break! What is wrong with his health? Something like brain tumor?
We investigated.
In the immortal words of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the classic film Kindergarten Cop, "It's not a too-mah."

TJ: Give us some scoop on Prison Break's supersexy Michael. Something is definitely wrong with my future boyfriend. He had a nosebleed in the premiere, and last night he clutched his head. I think maybe it's an infection or severe reaction from the tat removal he had done.
Michael is indeed ill, and it's a major part of this season's mystery. According to a source close to the show, "The nosebleeds will be a big story this season. It will tie in with his mother's history." It is not an infection or a severe reaction from the tattoo removal. The nosebleeds are the result of something much more complicated and much more long-standing than that.

Nadia: I need Prison Break! I heard that Michael is ill. Do you know something about that?
Remember how I reported that this season would explore why Michael Scofield was so darn smart? Well, the nosebleeds and the history of Michael's mother have everything to do with the backstory behind smarty-pants Scofield, and we'll learn the exact cause of the bleeding in episode seven.

Missy in Durham, N.C.: What is going on with Michael Scofield and those nosebleeds? Is he sick? Please tell me he's not going anywhere!
He's not going anywhere. I checked in with a source very high on the Prison food chain, and he told me to tell you guys: "Don't worry. There will be plenty more Scofield to enjoy."

So, to sum up: The nosebleeds are not going to be fatal, "it's not a too-mah" and the show will begin to explore more of Scofield's backstory.
source

Prison Break 4x04

Rather short and late this week due to my crazy hectic life.

*Finally, some good Michael/Sara chemistry! I have to give major props to Sarah, she acted so well in EVERY SINGLE SCENE in this episode!

*I'm telling ya, if you need to break into a consulate in LA, talk to Bauer!

*I was laughing so hard at the panicked look on T-Bag's face when he saw Lincoln. Yep, he wants a blood feud alright...but I think he prefers it on his terms with his choice of weapons. (Fists not being an option for him.)

*Love the cheesy bantering nicknames...'Teddy'...'Brothers Grimm'. I'm so easily amused.

*Um, are cops REALLY that unhelpful? Glad to know if I'm getting beat up by two guys WHO ARE ON THE MOST WANTED LIST that the nearby cop WITH A GUN will be kind enough to call it in.

*Wait...the General knows Gretchen is alive? Shoot, there goes my whole Wyatt-was-going-to-use-her-against-him theory.

*What, no big production out of opening the door for a lady as you enter the office, T-Bag? You must be nervous.

*I love how the boat that's been in the warehouse this whole time is a symbolic Michael/Sara place of refuge and quiet. Classy and well done.

*The whole cop warehouse break-in I'm not even going to touch. It was too easily done and had too many 'wait, we're making this look real' actions to even start ripping.

*Loved the uncomfortable look Michael had when he had to remove his hat.

*Lincoln nearly had to get some new cop trousers, there. I was amused at his 'WHAT?!' to Michael.

*Ack! Run, Sara!! Wait...he's following you...um...dangit, how do you end up in these situations?! First Kellerman, now Wyatt!

*Can someone toss the weasel a new shirt? The red with 80's sleeves is hurting my eyes.

*Like Michael needs your validation, Self. You like his style. PLEASE.
