The issue, though, is this: what purpose does it serve to convert entire jokes from Family Guy into YTMND form? We've got the full sound plus an image that isn't quite as good as the original animation. Why would we want that?

YTMNDs are really bad at recreating jokes from TV and movies both because of their limited ability to deliver anything as good as full motion video, but also because the humor of them is supposed to be not only immediate, but lasting. You show up and you immediately get what the page is saying. Come back five hours and it's still happening.

Linear jokes like the Lohan one really don't have any purpose there. I kind of like "Get the Fruit," though...

you have a point. not to mention they (being rehashed movie/tv jokes) are entirely unoriginal, which i don't deny at all about the ones i threw together. i just made them out of boredom and for a quick laugh. there are lots of ytmnds that make me chuckle, but there are honestly VERY few YTMNDs i've ever seen that make me laugh every time -and- think they took any real creativity or a keen eye to put together. i liken it to SNL spoofs (which may be good for a laugh once but i usually don't care for) versus Mystery Science Theater 3000 which takes pop culture and media and puts them together in a totally original and extremely funny way.

What I like about Fruit is that it lends itself better to the form because it's not nearly as linear as the others. It can continue repeating, and even though we know what the dialogue is going to do, there's no reason Brian couldn't still be harping on getting the fruit. It works a little better with the permanance thing.

that's an observation i'll bear in mind if i ever decide to make more.
