Setting: The Ravenclaw Common Room
Characters: Luna, Padma, open to ravens
Summary: Padma is made fun of by her sister, Luna is made fun of by everyone in the school. They'll click, no?



Luna twirled a lock of her blonde hair with her finger as she read a article in The Evening Prophet that was a load of bull shit. The story was, once again, on Harry Potter. It was always about Harry, and it was always less that true. This Luna knew.

Padma stepped through the common room door. She was on her way back from a tutoring session for first year students. Ravenclaws tended to be the ones who led these sessions and tonight was Padma's night to tutor on History of Magic.

"Evening Luna," Padma said, smiling.

Luna looked up at her name, dropping the lock of hair she had been twirling and losing her spot on the page. She was highly relieved that it wasn't anyone to make her life hellish, just Padma, who was much kinder, and prettier, if you asked Luna than her sister.

"Hello Padma." She greeted, returning the smile.

"How have you been?" Padma asked, sitting in the chair across from her housemmate.

"I've been alright. The year has only just begun." Luna smiled. "How was your summer vacation?" Luna asked, sitting up straight.

"It was alright. My sister was a pain, of course," Padma said. "But other parts of it were wonderful." Like getting kissed by Fred Weasley

"I heard you like those Weasley boys, much like myself." Luna smiled, as she noticed Padma's eyes glaze. Much like hers did when she though of Ronald.

"Yes, we ate Indian food and went to see a Muggle film," Padma said. "It was very lovely."

"Oh, Hermione showed me what a Movie was, it was interesting to say the least. My fathers' never brought me to one before." Luna noted.

"This one was interesting too. It had alot of explosions and stuff," Padma said, shrugging. "Fred seemed to enjoy it. I was fascinated by the way they made it more than the story."

Luna nodded. "The one I saw was like that too, seems like Muggles like explosions and fires." Luna shook her head.

"You'd think we would be worse with our curses, but they just have alot of things that explode. And they call us the ones with an upper hand." Luna shook her head, pulling her hair up into a messy bun, putting a quill and her wand through it, to keep hold.

Luna took another quill out of her bag and twirled it between her finger. "How are your classes this year?" She asked the older girl, preparing for what'd she encountrer in the next coming year.

"Not too bad. I was expecting NEWT levels to be worse, actually, but the workload is similar to OWLs in my opinion," Padma said.

Luna nodded. "Reasonably so." She stroked the quill softly. "After your NEWTs you go into the real world. You make a mistake and you could be dead." Luna noted.

"That's a very depressing outlook," Padma said. She frowned. "Is everything alright with you?"

Luna nodded. She hadn't mentioned to anyone about the death of her father, and she surely wasn't going to let Padma be the first to know. She was too close to the school gossips.

Padma didn't push. She could tell something was bothering Luna. She was different this year, more so than usual.

"How's Ron?" she asked, changing the subject. "Aren't you still dating him?"

"I don't know." Luna told Padma. "On either account. He hasn't said one word to me for a while. He's been preoccupied."

Luna tilted her head. "I don't know. Something more important that I." She shrugged her shoulders.

Padma did not know how to respond. Instead, she stood up and stretched.

"It's getting a bit late. I think I'm going to head upstairs," she said. "Goodnight Luna."

"Night." Luna said, still twirling the feather in her hand.

When she was sure Padma, as well as everyone else was gone; she crawled up into a ball and cried herself to sleep, silently.
