geborgenheit
Hi :) I got my nostril pierced on May 28th. My piercer told me to wash it with Dial and dab it with a Q-tip of contact solution twice daily. Around week three, I noticed that a bump started forming on the inside so that I couldn't rotate the jewelry more than halfway around.
I went back to get my jewelry changed during the third week. After working at it for a little bit, he said that it probably wasn't ready to come out, and to stop the Dial soap and and just do sea salt soaks and hydrogen peroxide, then come back when the inside bump went away in about three days.

Well, the next day, I woke up to see a bump forming on the outside, too. For over three weeks, I have been sea salt soaking and cleaning with contact solution twice daily, even doing hydrogen peroxide every now and then. The bump has improved a little bit, but it sure seems like there hasn't been any progress in the past week or so. When I wake up on the morning, it's pretty crusty and gross looking. I don't know what to do :/

Thanks!

touch ups and tips [08 Jul 2009|07:56am]

whimsikalsavage
About 2 months ago I had my deceased sisters name tattooed just below my wrist. About a week afterwards, I noticed the first three letters had gotten really faded. So I called and confirmed that they did free touch ups and they said that it was too early to do a touch up. So I waited a while and now I want to go in and get this fixed. I'm just wondering if I need to tip for a touch up, especially when it needed this touch up from week 1 of having it. I don't want to not tip if it's customary to tip them whenever you get something done. Thank you

sooo this may sound like a really dumb question, but bear with me as i haven't gotten a tattoo in a while. i got a good sized piece on my back on wednesday, and its starting to flake. however, its flaking in huge, gross chunks. is this normal? and that flakey skin is supposed to fall off, right? i'm not pulling it off or anything (i'm not THAT much of a noob), but i do find brightly colored bits of sloughed skin stuck to my sheets and whatnot.

Ear "sores" [26 Jun 2009|03:15am]

magentamsi

I naturally have really big ear lobes, quite a bit larger than most people.  Right now my ears are at 7/8", and even with lobes that size, I have a lot of lobe left over, to the point where my lobes are comparable to a lot of pictures I see of people at 00g.  Now, I've been stretching for 10 years, so I'm no dumby, and I've never run into this problem.
Since I've hit 7/8" (I didn't even have this problem at 13/16"), the place where my lobe connects to my head has developed these sores.  It's pretty much like a split, like if your lips split when you wake up from sleeping with your mouth open or something, and it only occurs every few weeks for a day or two.
This usually goes away if I shampoo or soap, and use jojoba oil or holey butter  to moisturize them.  But lately it seems like it's more often.  Like once a week I'm having a problem, it's not the summer months, because it was also happening in February.  It seems to me like my lobes are too thick, and they rest on my neck too much or too long, and when I move them, it causes this minor split or cut, that feels like a paper cut.
When I notice them, I wash them right away (I always was them in my daily shower) followed by the moisturizing, which stings, but they go away by morning.
Why is this happening?  Are they too dry?  Perhaps I'm OVER moisturizing and should be applying something like baby powder to my neck in that spot?  Because it's definitely NOT in a pierced area, it's the spot where the two meet.  If I were to baby powder, it wouldn't touch the piercing.
I just can't figure out what the problem is!  Any suggestions?
I don't want to have to downsize, as I have a really nice collection and have my heart set on this size.

I included a pucture to show just how much my ears press against my ears, as maybe this will help if you get a visual.

tongue piercing [21 Jun 2009|06:12pm]

mysweetshadoww
I looked throughout all the memories, saw some advise, but many of the posts were to old to reach the poster, commentor.
I got my tongue pierced Thursday, it doesn't hurt much, at all. It doesn't even hurt now, except for after waking up. But their it's very white on top, kind of gross >< I've been using mouthwash after everytime I ate. I also been using sea salt soaks. Any tips on how to get this film off? besides, brushing, I tried that a bit, I don't want to irriatte the piercing though. Plus, this whole no dairy myth, true or false? Cause ice cream goes down best. >_<
Also, aha, seems that I have a small bump around the barbell. IT almost loves as if its just the skin that got slightly pushed back when the needle went through.

Retainer [20 Jun 2009|03:42pm]

watchthesky14
I got my tragus pierced on November 5th with a CBR and it healed well until recently when it got really angry for no real reason. I had a plastic retainer put in it on the 18th because I had an MRI on the 19th (yesterday). When my piercer took out my CBR it bled and hurt way more than I was expecting. He didn't look very concerned and said it was normal for it to feel like that since it was so irritated. I was going to get a different CBR put in it today but I found out I have to have 2 more MRIs done on different dates. One on the 23rd and one on the 29th. Do you think it would be ok if I left my retainer in that long? I feel like its going to cause more trauma to take it out then put it back in that often. Also, my piercer is about an hour away. Any feedback would be great!

I'm getting my nipples pierced Monday. I know my piercer will tell me what he thinks is best, but for someone with relatively small nipples, is a hoop or barbell better? They're going to be horizontal...

Thanks for the general consensus! :)

And I guess for fun, how badly did it hurt & how sensitive are your nips?

Soap for nostril piercing [31 May 2009|10:00pm]

wardances
Hello all.
I had my nose pierced....about four weeks ago. It was healing nicely(or so I thought) until I made the DUMB mistake of putting makeup on and some got into my piercing and now it is not happy with me at ALL. I think I may have also bumped it in the night, because all of a sudden(within the past two days) I developed a fluid filled bump right above my nostril and it is so annoying. I don't know how to get rid of it, I just want it gone. Today I cleaned it with some warm water on the train(I have been on vacation at the beach for two days) and I noticed that it ran a little blood and pus(what it looked like at least). The area around my piercing is a little sore, but I've been cleaning it every day with some anti-bacterial soap(no fragrance, it's just plain old unscented softsoap-no one around me carries Satin or Provon). Is there any other soap I should be using? I also am doing sea salt soaks, but should I be worried? Is there anything else I can do to make sure this bump goes away and STAYS gone? Should I take the ring out? I currently have a CBR in the piercing and it has not given me problems. I got this piercing to flatter my face, not disfigure it, I am so upset that this happened.
No one else I know who has a nose piercing has this problem-I seem to be the only person in my group who will, without fail, get the dreaded nose bump.
Thanks for the help!

new piercing [30 May 2009|10:37pm]

geez_oh_pete
i was just wondering if there was a certain type/brand of tea tree oil that should NOT be used on piercings? is there something i should look for on the bottle that tells me if its ok or not to use?

also, im currently under the impression that as my piercing heals i should use a drop once a week but once its healed i can use it daily, is this correct?

my navel is what i got pierced and if anyone has any tips or suggestions to make healing faster/easier that would be so appreciated :]

thanks guys!

bad habit of lip biting [09 May 2009|10:51pm]

pterizzidactyl
I have a few inquiries:

I have a really bad habit of biting my lips and peeling the skin off of them. I hoped that getting my tongue pierced would give me a new mouth habit and keep me from biting them, but it doesn't. Has anyone used piercings to get rid of a bad habit? (I guess specifically oral)
I was thinking about getting a vertical labret, maybe this would help?

For those with a vertical labret, does it restrict you from biting your lip? Does it seem like something that could help prevent it?

Also, show me pictures of girls with only a vertical labret piercing!

Thanks in advance

NIPPLES!! [03 May 2009|03:18pm]

poisonedvulture
Ive been thinking for a little while now about nipple piercings and i have 2 questions

Firstly, i got my left nipple pierced about a year ago by a really shit piercer who didnt pierce it very straight and its taken ages to heal as opposed to my right nipple which has taken hardly any time to heal. I've taken my left nipple bar out in order for it to heal and then ill look at repiercing it

My question is, does anyone know on average it takes for a nipple piercing to close up after having a bar in it almost a year?

My next question is when i get it redone, i want to get both a horizontal and vertical bar through it. Can this be done at the same time, or does one need to heal because the bars are almost sitting on each other when done?

Greetings fellow friends. I'm Venessa, I've been a member for about 6 years, but I usually lurk due to my insufficient funds and having gotten no new mods. Until now! this is my second tattoo, and I haven't gotten one in 5 years. Oh how I did miss the deafening tattoo gun and the burning pain, scabbing, and peeling.

Hey everyone! Help a girl get some instant gratification? ^^;

I'm in Nashville, TN for another day or so, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend shops that have a decent selection of internally threaded jewelry for sale (on site)?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the x-posting! ^^;

Hi, I've just had my eyebrow and madison pierced. I love the placement but my piercing place, which I've had positive experiences with before, pierced them with standard straight metal barbells. They also warned me that the madison will inevitably eventually reject. I've read you can get different, flexible jewllery that reduces the risk of rejection so:
  • Do you think I need new jewellery?
  • If so where can I get it from? (I'm in the UK.)
  • When should I change it?
  • Should I change it myself or ask my piercer?
TIA!

question! [26 Mar 2009|11:22pm]

eien_inochi
So I would really like an anti-eyebrow...However I heard they are hard to heal and often end up rejecting. So I was thinking maybe getting dermal anchors instead of a barbell thingie? Would this be better or no?
Sorry if that's just dumb.
