Hey guys!

Some of you may have noticed that Monster Make Better (MMB) has been gone for a while. The reason for this is that my domain expired, and with that - MMB went up (online) in a puff of smoke. Well, its by no means ending! I'm using this LJ as a temporary home for MMB, and I hope you guys don't mind too much.

You can still see us on myspace:
http://groups.myspace.com/monstermakebetter

So keep in touch guys, and if you have a livejournal of your own, I've made this a community. Feel free to join!

~Colleen

Thank you for your interest in starting up a local chapter of Monster Make Better! I'm so happy that you feel so enthusiastic about this cause! All the information you will need to start up your own chapter of Monster Make Better is included in the starter kit. Just send me an email at retrokitty@gmail.com with your address and I'll send one right to you. You'll get a kit with a $5.00 or more donation. They're very cool so start yours TODAY!

The starter kit includes:
* tips on starting your chapter
* tutorial on making the monsters
* two felt Ms to place on the back of your monster (the MMB trademark!)
* stencils/patterns for a few monsters
* tags that can be attached to the monsters and a sheet of tags ready to be made
* posters that can be put up to promote Monster Make Better
* and much, much more!

Remember, a local chapter doesn't need a lot of people. It can be just you. (Mine's just me and my friend Jannet!) Parents, felt monsters are a great starting project for teaching children how to sew! Ask for your own starter kit today!

The point of Monster Make Better (if you start up a local chapter) is to make a bunch of monsters and present them to a hospital near you. Then, keep doing this as long as you want to stay with MMB. It's not uncommon for chapters to throw "MMB parties" and sew like crazy! These parties are fun! If you don't want to start up a chapter near you, that's fine. You can still help out by making monsters and sending them to me or by donating materials. If you send me monsters, I will add them to the basket I bring to the hospital I go to.

This is not required at all, but if you decide to go as far as to make a homepage for your local MMB chapter, please be sure to email me the link so I can post it!

If you agree, and would like to help, there are many things you can do.
*Start up a chapter of Monster Make Better in your town. It can be just you! (see local chapter section)
*Make a monetary donation (email Colleen)
*If you want to help, but don't want to make just a donation, you can check out some larger MMB monsters in the shopping section and buy one. 50% of these sales go to Monster Make Better. (coming soon)

What you can give as a donation:
There are a lot of things you can do to help out Monster Make Better, even if you can't sew. We here at MMB need the following items:
* Sewing supplies (felt, normal and embroidery thread, sequins, yarn, etc.)
* Donations of little felt monsters without starting up a local chapter of MMB. (Meaning, if you want to just sew and mail the monsters to me, I'll deliver them to the hospital I go to.)
* Money! Who doesn't need that?

What monetary donations are used for:
Donations are greatly appreciated and are used to buy supplies such as felt, thread, ribbon, paper, glue, and index cards. They are also used to help pay for the local chapter kits, and include the fees of photocopies and postage.
