# of tattoos and what they are; I have only one tattoo yet, it’s an IRA tattoo don’t judge me for it my grandfather was in the IRA and it means more to me then I care to explain.
# of other mods and what they are; I have a subinsision, genital scarification, bodly scarification, tongue splitting, and soon 4 extracted teeth to ease stretching my labret.
Your favorite Body Mods; my favorite body mod… my favorite is scarification and experimental surgical modification. I plan to get some skin grafting done but that’s a procedure idea of my own and id not care to go into much detail till I have worked it out with someone.
Name one piercing you'd never get; hmm never is a long time. Maybe the eyelid pierced. Just don’t think it looks right and don’t think it would feel right and the healing… fuck that
What body mods do you plan on getting in the future; well in the near future I plan on extending my sub and my tongue splitting, starting a scarification on my chest with Howie, and looking into skin grafting with him a bit
At what age did you first get a body mod & what was it; starting piercing and modifying myself early around 15 that’s where I learned everything doing work on myself. Mostly piercings but around 17 I started doing fleshpullings and scarifications.
Tell me why you got each of your body mods.; well the tattoo is the most personal realy. Scalpleing my labret was cosmetic, splitting my tongue was cosmetic. Scalpleing my genitals was sexual, so I got the tattoo because ive lost my granddad to cancer and he always talked about the bravery and courage he learned wile he was an “IRA bastard” so that dose mean a lot to me

Body Mod Knowledge Questions
How do you feel about underage teens getting piercings?; I started under age so “judge not lest ye be judged” though I think there is a difference between an under aged getting pierced and an under aged getting tattooed. And starting before it’s a choice of the person(no not child they are people too) is another story entirely.
Would you say you know a lot about body modifications?; yes I would actually not to sound full of myself but id go as far as saying I know a lot about surgical and experimental body modification.
If so, tell me a random fact about a type of body mod; titanium pins, bleached coral, a surgical drill and grinder, lots of anesthetic and you can have bone grafting. The bone is ground where you are attaching the graft to promote new growth and formation of blood vessels then the graft is sanded to fit into the new ground area, drilled and secured with titanium pins to keep it together. As the bone heals it is tricked by the coral as coral is the same material as bone and the healing bone acts as if the coral is a broken part of it healing the bone and the coral together and then filling in the coral with blood vessels and more calcium. They will eventually heal together completely and your modification is now permanent.
Someone comes to you asking for advice on a type of piercing they plan on getting. What would you tell them about piercings/aftercare?; it would depend on the piercing and the proper after care I’ve been in shops before(working) so I know enough to cover the basics. I promote use of seasalt.
Your piercing becomes infected. What are the signs of infection and how do you take care of it?; infection is common with piercings and for the most part even typical. Most people don’t realize it but that tiny bit of redness no matter how small is infection your best bet to help heal infection is your immune system and most the time it takes care of it. if infection worsens and the red area gets larger seasalt soaking and keeping the wound covored and free from additional infection hazards are easy ways to heal it if the infection becomes too much for the body to handle removing the piercing and a low dose of antibiotics will cure about any surface infection in a few days to a few weeks.
What is the aftercare procedure of a tattoo?; A&D ointment and keeping it moist and covered with plastic or plastic coated gauze for 12-48 hours to keep out infection and pramote a thin layer of scabbing after that it is kept moist with an A&D ointment for about 2 weeks being allowed to breath more and more after the first week is up.
Your tattoo starts to peel. Is this normal? What do you use on it?; yes its normal. Between 1 week and 3 weeks tattoo tend to peal a bit as the skin is allowed to dry up the moist skin like scab that formed ontop similar to that of a mild brushburn will peal off it is never to be picked off it should be kept on as long as it will stay on and rinced off with water in the shower. Any stage beond the first month where heavy pealing is found probably means your tattoo is rejecting. Get that shit looked at.

Facial peircings= I highly recomend a salt soak. *Mild sea salt soaks are highly recomended once a day to accelerate healing and increase confort.
Someone comes to you asking for advice on a type of piercing they plan on getting. What would you tell them about piercings/aftercare?:: that its very important to fallow your aftercare guidelines and to call your peircer if you have any questions.
Your piercing becomes infected. What are the signs of infection and how do you take care of it?:: usually it will form a lump(kuliod) on it, or become swollen, puss or become red. i would suggest you clean it more freaquntly and treat it like a new peircing, avoid contact with it.
What is the aftercare procedure of a tattoo?:: usually you only keep the gauze on for an hour or so to avoid the ink to be absorbed. you would use a and d ointment and basically let it heal. dont scratch! if it itches slap it.
Your tattoo starts to peel. Is this normal? What do you use on it?:: i dont think so and i would think A&D ointment.

Hey everyone. I just realized i never posted pictures of my new/first tattoo. I got it done June 11th, but kept forgetting to write about it in the community journal.

It's the alkaline trio logo, but instead of the heart being black, i decided to make the skull black.

Ahh well this past Sunday I got to do my very first suspension. A 4pt suicide with the suspension group Well Hung from Pasadena, California.

It was really a great experiance... I wasn't really 100% sure if I was going to be able to do it, because of surgery & all but it all worked out okay.
They were doing 3 people at one time.. I was in the first group of 3. It was me, an other guy doing a 4pt suicide, & a guy doing a coma. Neither of them had suspended before either.
ANYWAY, I was the first person off the ground, as well as the last person to come down. I was up for about 10 min I was super proud of myself.

Honestly I can say the only painful part, was right before I got off the ground.. there was the point that I was putting all my weight into the hooks, but I wasn't off the ground just yet. Right when I got there, John who was piercing/assisting came up & was like hunny this is the most pain you will feel so just do what you need to do. So I told them to pull me up.

And really I think the fact that I knew, pretty much everyone who was working everything & piercing made me a lot more eased at mind.

So yeah, that was my whole little rant. Here are some pictures taken by Erica.

What body mods do you plan on getting in the future; As soon as I have the funds, I'm going to get my other helix dermal punched at a 6g. Then I'm thinking about an anti-eyebrow.
At what age did you first get a body mod & what was it; I was 7 and it was my ears. But those lasted about a month because I was allergic to nickle and didn't want to deal with them anymore. Then it was 17 when I got my Monroe done.
Tell me why you got each of your body mods.; I get body mods because they are aesthetically appealing. This makes me feel prettier, and thus better about myself.
I got my ears pierced because my friend had these buffalo horn spirals in her ears that I fell SO in love with and had to get my ears pierced and stretch so I could wear them.
If you have tattoos, tell me what each one means and why you got it; None yet. But I'm planning on getting a pink breast cancer ribbon (as mentioned). Which is because my mother has breast cancer.

Body Mod Knowledge Questions
How do you feel about underage teens getting piercings?; I feel there should definitely be an age minimum, like 16. BUT I think it's the piercers responsibility to talk to and ask questions to ANYONE they pierce ESPECIALLY underage teens, and decide wheter they are responsible enough to get a body modification. Understandably the underage teen is usually still growing, so the piercer needs to take this and other things into consideration and make a responsible choice.
Would you say you know a lot about body modifications?; Sure. I spend alot of time reading up on them, and thinking about them. I'd also really like to be a piercer and am looking to find a decent apprenticeship.
If so, tell me a random fact about a type of body mod; Navel's can be hard to heal without alot of care, and take a suprisingly long time to heal.
Someone comes to you asking for advice on a type of piercing they plan on getting. What would you tell them about piercings/aftercare?;
1. Yes it will hurt.
2. Research and make sure you find a piercer you trust.
3. Listen closely to what the piercer tells you about the specific kinds of aftercare for your particular piercing.
4. It's very normal for the piercing to do alot of wierd things while healing. Aka pussing, bleeding, swelling. But if something doesn't look right, talk to your piercer.
5. Don't use chemicals on it, touch it with dirty hands, play with it while healing, or change jewellery.
6. If you think it's infected DON'T TAKE IT OUT.
7. Salt soaks are very good for your piercing.
Your piercing becomes infected. What are the signs of infection and how do you take care of it?; Excessive redness, soreness, painful when moving the jewellery, excessive puss or bleeding. Continue the usual aftercare instructions, and try to flush it out with plenty of water. If the infection gets worse, go see a doctor.
What is the aftercare procedure of a tattoo?; Remove the bandage the day after getting the tattoo, wash gently with no soap or mild soap. Only wash your tattoo during the first few days if you feel it's necessary, or if it's "oozing" at all. Wash gently. After a few days use a mild lotion. Only apply when tattoo is dry or itchy, and do so sparingly. Don't pick at your tattoo. Keep it out of the sun.
Your tattoo starts to peel. Is this normal? What do you use on it?; As far as I know it would just mean the tatto is dry. Use a mild and plain lotion sparingly. Don't pick.

Alright, I've posted these in my journal, & in the BMEzine community. So I thought I'd post it in my usual communities.
This is my new tattoo machine gun scarification. It was only supposed to take about an hour to do, but it ended up taking (this is including marking me, blowing 2 fuses in the power source, & going through 3 machines) from about 10:20pm - 2am.
Yes it hurt. Yes it looks painful. Yes there are NUDES. So please becareful while viewing these. I did warn you in advance.

today i went out & got my navel pierced at a 4g whoo!!! brett perkins (solja) at anomaly in pasadena, ca did it with a 5g needle (cause the jewelry was a little under a 4g) bevel up from the inside out, then tapered it open to a 4g & slide the jewelry in. yes it hurt a LOT because it was tough to get that big of a needle through but it felt a lot better once the jewelry was in.

edit: it looks a little off, and shallow because of the angle of the picture as well as the fact that this is a brand new picture so it's pretty swollen.

# of piercings and what they are; I have 10 piercings, used to be 12. I took out a regular lobe piercing & a 14 gauge a few months ago. Now I have my ears stretched to 2s and 4s (well I lost the jewelry for one of the 4s, so until I get money to buy a taper and stuff, it's stuck at a 12), an industrial in my left ear, my tongue, both nipples, 2 nape piercings, and a surface piercing at each sideburn.

At what age did you first get a body mod & what was it; I got my ears pierced when I was like 3 or something, but other than that...I started stretching my ears about 2 years ago and got my first piercing in a shop in August of 2004, my industrial.

I don't remember why I stretched my ears. I probably just liked the way it looked.
Industrial - I thought it looked beautiful, and I hadn't seen it on very many people around here.
Nipples - My boobs are the only part of my body that I like, lol, and I thought that silver jewelry could be very complementary to them.
Tongue - I wanted an oral piercing, but my dad freaked out when I said it would be my lip. Originally I hated tongue piercings, but after he said he'd hate it if I got the lip done, I started looking into tongue piercings and decided it was good enough for now. I'm really glad I got it done though after all.
Nape - I was standing in line behind some guy once when I was about 15. I saw that he had surface piercings on the back of his neck shaped into a star. I fell in love with it and had wanted to get something done back there on myself ever since then!
Sideburns - I'd never seen this on anyone around here, and I could only find about 10 pictures on BME of it, so it seemed pretty rare. I thought it looked really pretty too, if it was a little silver curved barbell.

How do you feel about underage teens getting piercings?; There are reasons why getting a piercing has an age requirement. Wanting a piercing at 17 or maybe 16 isn't so bad to me...but anything younger I don't think is a good idea. I don't feel that younger teenagers can really take care of a piercing like it needs to be. Of course that isn't ALWAYS the case, but ya know...
Would you say you know a lot about body modifications?; I'm learning. I know mainly about the piercings that I have. I know enough to make them heal & keep them healthy!
If so, tell me a random fact about a type of body mod; About surface piercings: A number of people have reported increased body hair immediately around piercing holes, include post-removal. In addition, this hair growth has been obvserved in areas where hair does not typically grow.
Someone comes to you asking for advice on a type of piercing they plan on getting. What would you tell them about piercings/aftercare?; I would tell them everything that I know about it and would probably suggest looking it up on BME. If I had the piercing myself, I'd suggest that they go to the place I went to (it's great!), I'd tell them how my piercer went about piercing it, if it hurt, how long it took, & how it got pierced. Then I'd tell them how I had to clean it afterwards, like that sea salts work very well, don't clean it too much, don't use certain soaps or mouthwash.

What are your top 5 favorite tv shows; SNL is the only TV I watch...I think everything else is garbage!

Let's say you were given a million dollars, but you only have one day to
live. how would you spend the money and would you donate any?; I'd probably take my whole family and all my friends to an amusement park or something, as corny and lame as it sounds. I'd rent it out for the day, haha, and just spend time with them. Any money left over after paying for that, I would divide up among my family & give to them.
Who would you say is your idol and why?; My grandma who died last April. She went through a lot of hard stuff like having 8 kids, 2 dying at a young age, an alcoholic husband, being poor...but she overcame everything and wasn't bitter about it at all. She was a very accepting and loving person, no matter who you were. She tried to help absolutely anyone that she could, in any way.

Look back on past applications, which applicant do you think is rad/cool/great? and why?; I think devotchkaoioi is pretty bad ass! Her application kept me entertained the whole way through. Her rose tattoo is gorgeous, I've been looking for a rose that pretty (without the stem) to get for myself one day (maybe). Plus, the Distillers music got me through a lot too, so I can relate to that.

Name one piercing you'd never get; Its a race between nose and eyebrow. I dont have anythig against them, I just dont have a cute enough nose, and eyebrows either.

At what age did you first get a body mod & what was it; 15, my lip.

Tell me why you got each of your body mods.; Ive always wanted a lip ring. Not so sure why. I just fell in love with them when all my friends wanted their touges pierced. My monroe was pure impluse. I went there planning on getting a snakebite. I saw a picture of the monroe, and it was love at first site. I just had to have it. My ears, well; my mom got them done for me when I was young.

How do you feel about underage teens getting piercings?; I dont see much wrong with it. As long as they arnt like, 12. They could regreat it. Or not take care of it right.

Would you say you know a lot about body modifications?; I know my fair share about the piercings I have.

If so, tell me a random fact about a type of body mod;The only reason its dangerous to pierce something with a safty pin is because of the materal the safty pin is made of.

Someone comes to you asking for advice on a type of piercing they plan on getting. What would you tell them about piercings/aftercare?; Not to irritate it. DOnt forget to clean it. And dont try to change the jewlry before the time they give you.

Your piercing becomes infected. What are the signs of infection and how do you take care of it?; reddness, swelling, ichiness. You sea-salt soak it as often as possible. Dont irritate it more than it already is. Make sure your not wearing the wrong type of jewlry.

What is the aftercare procedure of a tattoo?; Im not sure, but I think they give you a certain soap to wash with. Your not supposed to wear tight clothes on it.

Your tattoo starts to peel. Is this normal? What do you use on it?; I think its normal the first few weeks. Dont pull at the pealing skin. Wash it.

What body mods do you plan on getting in the future; I want more tattoos, but I don't want to rush into anything.I have a lot of ideas, but i am unsure where to have the tattoos on my body, and I want to be 100% sure about them before getting them done.I also plan to get my tragus done very soon, and also stretch to a 10mm.
At what age did you first get a body mod & what was it; I got my ear lobes done when I was 11, pretty standard.
Tell me why you got each of your body mods.; My ears I had done when I was younger as my friend and I decided we wanted them done together. I got my ears pierced a second time because I wanted more piercings but my mum dislikes piercings so I went for the least offensive piercing.I then began to like piercings even more and I wanted more, but again, didn't want to offend my Mum, so i got my ear rim pierced twice.I then got my navel pierced when I was a little older because I started to want more piercings and I liked the look of a navel piercing, and again, it wouldn't easily offend my Mum.I began stretching my ear about a year ago, but haven't done anything with it for ages.Then i got my nose done a few months ago, because I've always loved nose piercings and wanted one since i was around 15 so I knew it was a piercing I wouldn't regret.
If you have tattoos, tell me what each one means and why you got it; I really like my stars a lot, two nautical stars is meant to represent good luck (sailors used to have them), also I wanted something that was small to start off with, and that I can cover up when I'm older. I wanted them as a reminder of my 18th birthday.

Would you say you know a lot about body modifications?;I don't claim to be an expert, and I'm not! I know a little about them, I know about the ones I am interested in, and if I want to know about a certain type, I read up about it!
If so, tell me a random fact about a type of body mod;
Someone comes to you asking for advice on a type of piercing they plan on getting. What would you tell them about piercings/aftercare?;I would tell them to talk to people at the place where they got pierced, but I have always kept my piercings clean with hot water and rock salt, and I made sure I was careful not to play with any new piercing too much!
Your piercing becomes infected. What are the signs of infection and how do you take care of it?; Usually if a piercing becomes infected it will be very sore to touch, and may have dried up puss around it. The best thing to do is to keep it clean, and not play with it too much!
What is the aftercare procedure of a tattoo?; I have heard many different things, but my tattooist said to was the tattoo off about an hour after the procedure with luke warm soapy water and then to use baby oil on them everytime you shower or bath until the tattoo is healed. If the tattoo itches at all DO NOT scratch or pick the scabs as this will take the colour off, if you need to use anything, just use a small amount of savlon to relieve the itching!
Your tattoo starts to peel. Is this normal? What do you use on it?; Yes. This is normal. For a few weeks after you have your tattoo it will scab and then the scabs slowly fall away.

# of piercings and what they are; 6. Just 2 per ear, my belly button and my lip on the right. I stretched on of the first holes in my ear for a while, but decided I wouldn't bother, as a lot of my friends were at the time and, well, I prefer earrings! I know it's not many, but money issues, and my parent's aren't really hot on the idea of piercings, and I don't really see the point in going behind their backs. Might aswell win them round, they respect you more that way.
# of tattoos and what they are; None as of yet. I have plans and ideas for tattoos that I'd like, but I'm underage and don't want to rush into it as soon as I'm 18.
# of other mods and what they are; None. I've seen articles and pictures of branding, scarification and the like on various sites and in magazines, but it's never really appealed to me.
Your favorite Body Mods; On me, I like my lip piercing best, because I waited ages before getting it, and I think it's the one that I appreciate most.

Tell me why you got each of your body mods.; My ears were because I was young, and it was the cool thing to do I guess. I got my bellybutton pierced because I think that was when I started to try to be more individual, and although it's not an individual piercing, it meant I was on the way! My lip piercing I got a year ago for my 17th birthday. I've always liked the piercing, but I wanted to get something permanent for my birthday as it had been a special year for me, in many ways. Again, I know it's not exactaly individual, but where I live, thereare very few people with any mods at all, and it doesn't matter to me how many people have the same piercings.

It just seems a really irresponsible thing to do. But even with parental consent, I think a lot of piercings shouldn't be done... At the same time though, it does depend on the person in particular, whether they're responsible enough to look after it properly, and to be sure they want it before they commit themselves.
Would you say you know a lot about body modifications?; I wouldn't say I knew a lot about body mods, especially not those I don't really have an invested interest in. I just make sure I'm well informed about what concerns me, and if I'm interested in any form of modification, I'll find out more.
If so, tell me a random fact about a type of body mod;
Someone comes to you asking for advice on a type of piercing they plan on getting. What would you tell them about piercings/aftercare?; To be honest, I'd tell them to ask the piercer! Just because I have like, 2 relevant piercings, I don't think it means I have the knowledge to advise other people on how to care for their mods.
Your piercing becomes infected. What are the signs of infection and how do you take care of it?; Well, my bellybutton became infected for a few months after I got it done. It would constantly have dried up puss on it, and was sore to touch. I considered taking it out, but instead I washed it in salt water regularly, was careful not to touch it or bump it at all, and I used savlon srpay to clean it up.
What is the aftercare procedure of a tattoo?; Well I've seen my family and friends get tattooed at different places, and they tend to say different things. The guy I really trust, which is where my family got/ get all their tattoos and piercings suggests you leave the dressing on until that night, then literally rinse the tattoo with water. After about 2-3 days when it starts to peel, he says to gently rub in germolene/ savlon, making sure not to pick off the scabs.
Your tattoo starts to peel. Is this normal? What do you use on it?; Yea it's normal for up to a few weeks while it's healing. You just have to make sure not to pick the scabs at all, and follow the aftercare you were given.

Are there any shops/piercers you'd like to recommend; For anyone in the area I live, which there probably isn't, The lonely frog in Swanscombe is a great place. It's run by a guy called Steve and his family, and they're all really friendly so it's got a great atmosphere, as well as a talented, safe tattooist and piercer.

i stretched my lobe to 14mm (9/16) the other day, and all was well. but when getting dressed i knocked it and the plug fell out. and i noticed it's very weepy, and still very sore. i've never had this happen any of the times i've stretched my lobes before, so i'm a bit worried? i did only do it two days ago, but still...

place where you got it pierced and go in and have them look at
it. Then seek medical attention if they tell you to.

I'm sorry to say this but I'm leaving the community.

I loved being a part... and have nothing against any of the members.

Something very unexplainable, and life changing (in a bad way) happened to me over the last few days, and communiities are no longer on my list of priorities. Things will work out, so don't be worried about me. And I will return and reapply as soon as it can be fit into my life.
