While in Germany filming on her latest project, Hindenburg, Lauren Lee Smith attended the NRW premiere of her film Helen in Köln two nights ago, alongside director Sandra Nettlebeck and producer Judy Tossell.

Hey guys! A couple of long-range projects are on the horizon for Lauren Lee Smith.

First, Variety reported yesterday that Lauren has been cast in a German TV movie about the Hindenburg, which will air in two years:

And The Soup Chef returns! Sean Harry announced on his official forum last month that Lauren Lee Smith has been slated to attend the annual Starfury L Word Convention next year, from June 25th to 27th 2010 at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole Hotel in England.

CSI's executive producer, Naren Shankar, has announced that Lauren Lee Smith will not be returning to CSI next season. :(

Here's an excerpt from yesterday's TV Guide article:

When CSI returns for its 10th season, the lab will once again be short staffed. Executive producer Naren Shankar confirms to TVGuideMagazine.com that Lauren Lee Smith will not return as series regular, Riley Adams. “She’s not going to be back for Season 10,” he tells us exclusively. “It was an issue of how we were feeling the ensemble was working. When we brought in the character of Riley, it got lost in the shuffle a little bit because we had lost Warrick, we had lost Sara, and then in the middle of last season Grissom finally left. I think, as a result, the character never quite found its footing in terms of the rest of the gang.”

Riley’s absence will open up a slot for Sara Sidle, who is now ready to return to work after her severe burnout in Season 8.

A pleasant surprise! Lauren Lee Smith joined her co-star Brian Cox and director Michael Doherty at this year's San Diego Comic-Con for a sneak-peek screening of Trick 'r Treat on Thursday night, to advertise the October DVD release.

Secondly, CBS Home Entertainment has announced that Lauren's season of CSI will be released on DVD September 1st!

There will also be a new CSI video game available from Ubisoft in the fall, which will feature all the new characters, including Riley Adams.

After two years of waiting...

Both Fangoria and Bloody Disgusting are announcing that this may be the year Lauren Lee Smith's Trick 'r Treat is finally released on DVD. The director, Michael Dougherty, has also promised a tour of several film festivals around the world, along with an associated graphic novel by Wildstorm Comics.

Over the weekend, Lauren Lee Smith won the award for best supporting actress in the feature-length drama Helen at the 2009 Leo Awards Ceremony! We all know she's talented, but it's great that she's being officially recognized for all of her hard work. Congratulations, Lauren!

I should also mention that on today's post, Lauren is #76 on After Ellen's 2009 Hot 100; just after Jessica Alba and before Summer Glau.

unfortunately - for a few of you - it is only available in German (if you need help give me a shout). But it sounds all right for me (meaning their voices don't make my ears bleed), screening starts in May over here.
besides, I am interested in the topic itself and since Sandra Nettlebeck wrote/directed the movie I just hope that it does not turn into one of those "you just have to want it yourself and everything will go away" films.

Exciting news! Ever since the release of the powerful trailer and teaser, we've been awaiting news of Lauren's latest film, Helen.

It was announced at the beginning of the month that Helen will be premiering in the Spectrum category at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah from January 16-24.

Some Vancouver actors are heading to this January's Sundance Film Festival with a film they wrapped last January, the drama Helen starring Ashley Judd and Goran Visnjic.

Judd stars in German director Sandra Nettelbeck's movie as a psychiatrist battling depression. Canadians Lauren Lee Smith, Alexia Fast and Ali Liebert are among the supporting cast, and they'll be joining Judd in Utah for Helen's premiere. The movie was among a diverse collection of smaller-budget features filming in and around Vancouver last year, jostling for locations and crew with the mega-movies and TV series.

Lauren Lee Smith and her former Mutant X co-star Victoria Pratt may be reunited in the upcoming CSI: Las Vegas episode "The Grave Shift" January 22nd! Bit of an odd request, but I'm a big fan of Lauren in CSI, and do a lot of CSI rp (my normal journal is sleepy_jaffa and, as you can see, this is my rp journal for the character of Riley.

I'm hunting high and low, though, of icons of her with Johnny Whitworth (I know they starred together in Pathology, but haven't been able to see it) as my character is messing about with his from CSI Miami. It's a long shot, I know, but would anyone have any icons of them together/know where I can find some?

All help is greatly appreciated, as I'm going nuts trying to find some!!

The OC Register has posted some sexy images from Lauren Lee Smith's CBS photoshoot for the spring issue of CBS Watch! magazine, alongside Eva La Rue from "CSI: Miami" and Cote de Pablo from "NCIS."

Lauren Lee Smith is ready for her close-up. Hair and makeup are perfect as she browses through racks of couture gowns and rows of designer shoes in an oceanfront suite at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel.

"This is like getting to indulge in all my girly fantasies," Smith says, wrapped in a plush white hotel robe with cushy white slippers on her feet.

It's also a dramatic change of pace from her day job as Riley Adams on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," the long-running hit CBS crime procedural which Smith joined this fall as a new investigator.

"Yesterday we were in the medical examiner's office, looking at a guy who killed himself in a deep fryer," she says just as matter-of-factly as you or I might describe our typical day at the office. "And now I'm in Laguna, wearing designer clothes."
