| About: | Hello and Welcome to the "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Death Pool! What Is It? Everyone knows that in Harry Potter and the HBP, people are going to die. New year, new war, new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher - the result of this book can spell nothing but DOOM for our beloved characters. So what better way to alleviate the tension and anticipation of seeing exactly who will die by betting on the outcome? ...Why? Because it'll be fun! Okay, so what exactly do we do? It's a competition, of sorts. The process is quite simple: 1. Choose a victim! State which character you think is going to die in "Half-Blood Prince". You can be serious or just pick a character at random - it's all good. 2. Make a wager! Pick another character and offer up a drabble, ficlet, drawing, poem, dirty limerick, or other art form. Pick any character you want - it can be one you really like if you're feeling confident about your choice, or one you you don't particularly care for if you're really unsure. It's up to you. 3. Read HBP to see if you've won!! So what happens if we lose our bet? That's the fun part - the object of this game is to actually lose your bet. If/When you lose and the character you chose to die miraculously survives because it was only a flesh wound, you then take your wager - both the character and the art form - and combine them together for everyone else to see. But that's not all! You must kill your wager character off. It doesn't matter how you do it: you can choose to go for the ironic ending where Hermione's murdered by a rogue House Elf, or maybe a more humorous death where Ron is mysteriously crushed by a falling piano in his late 40s. Be cruel, be creative, and go for the face. Oh, and feel free to use zombies in any capacity. The Living Dead are sorely under-represented in fandom. But what happens if we win? Well, it's a game of chance where the winners are actually losers. But your psychic powers will be the envy of those around you, and maybe you'll get a button or some stickers. And who doesn't love stickers? Alternatively, if you don't want stickers, you can write/draw something explaining to us exactly why your wager character is Not Quite Dead. Everbody gets to have fun! When is this going to happen? HBP is months away! Sometime in mid-May, posts will be opened where you can Place Your Bets; HBP is a bit too far away to start making wagers at this point. These posts will remain open until midnight (EST) on July 15. On July 23, one week after the release of HBP, a Death List will be posted containing any and all characters who are dead (you never know, there might be a fair amount of them) - yes, behind a cut, I'm not an insensitive jerk who hates everybody. On July 31, in honor of the Master P's birthday, the community will be open to posting your fic and art - so this is when you're supposed to do it. And what a lovely present that will be. Deadline for wagered fic and art? None at the moment, though this is subject to change. And now, The Rules: -Be as bloody/gory/horrible as you want, but please try to keep it on the "funny" side rather than the "completely disgusting" side - it's supposed to be fun. Ever see a Takashi Miike film? Blood's great. Human fecal matter is not so great. -No Flaming/Trolling: if someone kills off your favorite character, live with it. Draco may be your internet boyfriend, but most of us honestly don't care. -If you're not sure about something you've written, get a beta! Many would be more than happy to help. Spelling=Yay! -Eat your vegetables. No really, they're good for you. Well, that's it. Get your magical brain cloaks out and figure out who's going to die! | ||
