maybe one of you can help me, if I'm not crazy.

a few years ago, I SWEAR I saw a picture of Eleanor and Alex Kapranos standing near a pool in bathing suits. I don't know if I'm imagining this or not. I can't find the picture anywhere online. I think maybe it was in a magazine? Thanks in advance!

TOWN OF WIDOW.
The agent of Antioch wrote with a letter by gone back usual to 100 degrees of perpetual, is sent by the intermediary of the fast dromedary crossing its manners the odd and equal days. It indicated that the assembled lion of its thicket and they managed to empty, "my lottery ticket. Drunk on the wormwood in the town of widow, town of widow drunk on the wormwood. Tomorrow evening when the sun places at nine I could need myself embrouillement with the degenerated factory of a small strange vine. And foxes on the mountain, girls! Foxes of There' Re on the mountain, girls. To thus negotiate the deserts and the wells you cannot hope on your dimwits." The Fiery Furnaces with Man Man and Standing Nudes at Webster Hall, 29 June 2006 [05 Jul 2006|01:49pm]

[ mood | I'm in no mood to comb my hair ]

It's a long haul from imagination to reality, at least, that's what it seems to me when Eleanor Freidberger screams/sings into the microphone at Webster Hall, holding up her Fender Strat (I think that's what she plays anyway) and staring into the eyes of whomever her eyes fall upon. This being my 6th FF show, I've grown accustomed to staring deep into those dark brown eyes. They're beautiful and intimidating. But as I stood in front of the stage, it dawned on me that the FF are getting louder and louder each show they play. And they're learning to rock harder as well.

Matthew Friedberger opted against playing his keyboard again to my slight disappointment; he'd had his fill playing keyboards on Bitter Tea and his upcoming solo albums (that's right, he's coming out with two albums next month: Holy Ghost Language School and Winter Women). However, Matthew still played ferociously on songs like Quay Cur, I'm in No Mood and a strangely robotic sounding Tropical Iceland (he'd gotten a new pedal apparently).

What surprised me most about this show was the impressive opening bands. First, the Standing Nudes: A quartet featuring a female vocalist/guitarist. Then, Man Man: A quintet of males featuring a mustachioed keyboard player, a lanky but instense drummer, and three multi-instrumentalists, huddled as close the edge of the stage as possible, clad in white and basically rocking the socks of everyone at Webster Hall.

I scored my third (or is it fourth) setlist from FF. Here's what they played:

Chris Michaels
Crystal Clear
Straight Street
Police Sweater Blood Vow
I Lost My Dog But Now He's Found
Asthma Attack
Benton Harbor Blues
Quay Cur
Garfield L
Candymaker's Knife in My Handbag
Evergreen
Teach Me Sweetheart
In My Little Thatched Hut
I'm in No Mood
Blackhearted Boy
Leaky Tunnel
Tropical Iceland
Single Again
Blueberry Boat

(I wish Matt had played some of his new songs...)

I'll post pictures soon.

Hi, I just thought that I'd try to drum up some contributors to the Blueberry Boat Wiki:
http://www.blueberryboat.com/wiki/Fiery_Furnaces_Wiki

I've been trying to flesh it out a bit recently with some new content, like the Media page (with lots of help from theFF.com Forum's 'Media Repository'), and the Upcoming Album's page (with information and rumours about Matt's solo release, and the next FF album). So if anyone wants to take a look and add anything of their own, please visit! Wiki's work better with more people!

I noticed here that you guys have lots of live photo's - if anyone's willing to upload their's to the BB Wiki that'd be cool!

Thanks everyone.

i told her about it afterward and she was like, give it to me anyway!! so i ran to my car and grabbed it..
and ran back and gave it to her, meanwhile she had gone to get her camera..and..magicalness ensued.

*sigh* i love her!

Fiery Furnaces Wiki [25 Feb 2006|06:08pm]

gambl0r
I thought you guys would like to know that blueberryboat.com will be turned into a wiki-format site so it can be updated by the Fiery Furnaces community. It makes sense to do this, since I would like to see the site continue to grow, but don't have a lot of time to put into it.

Last night I installed some wiki software and started moving content into the wiki. Feel free to sign up and add/edit as you see fit (If someone has the lyrics to Rehearsing My Choir, that would be awesome). The url right now is http://blueberryboat.no3rdw.com/wiki but eventually http://www.blueberryboat.com will link directly there.

As soon as I can figure out what the best way is to transition the site to the new Wiki format without losing my ranking with Google, I'll do that. It will be soon... Thanks!

What does everyone think? Personally I'm adoring them! Apparently the album is all over soulseek like a rash- so if anyone comes across it.....

Tropical-Iceland [03 Jan 2006|02:38pm]

anachronistic
Does anyone know what Eleanor is saying during the part in "Tropical-Iceland" that sounds like it was flipped backwards?

The part I'm talking about goes something like "(gibberish) You won't be getting it here. Just take a boat across a bumpy sea, (gibberish)."
