Got this from dorawinifred.net

Season 13 starts airing on October 12.

The highlight of the season is the two-parter "The Great MacGrady", a Very Special Episode in which Mrs. McGrady is diagnosed with cancer.

From the WGBH Pressroom:

When Lakewood Elementary's beloved lunch lady Mrs. MacGrady is diagnosed with cancer, Arthur and his friends all react differently to the news:Arthur and D.W. rush to her side with heaps of chicken soup and stuffed animals, Muffy tries to pretend that nothing in her life has changed, and Francine is so upset she can't even bring herself to visit Mrs. MacGrady. In this moving episode, both parents and kids learn how they can come together to support Mrs. MacGrady and each other; and Lance Armstrong makes a special appearance to show Francine and the Elwood City residents how they can take a stand, or ride a bike, for cancer survivors.
"The Great MacGrady" will air every day the week of Monday, October 19.

The other episodes not mentioned in the last update are:

Looking for Bonnie: Famous rock musician Dean Lomax visits Elwood City and calls on George's dad to fix his equally famous guitar, Bonnie. Legend says that Bonnie is magical, and Buster and George are convinced that just one strum will give them special powers. And, during one late-night sleepover, they sneak into George's dad's workshop to find out if it is true.

The Pride of Lakewood :To boost school pride, Arthur and his classmates form the Lakewood Pride Committee, which immediately and fervently adds members, distributes buttons and creates special chants. But Brain and Sue Ellen, feeling pressured, decide that they do not want to join, and are accused of not loving their school. Can they prove that they are proud of Lakewood Elementary even if they are not part of this new group?

The Secret Origin of Supernova:Arthur is dismayed when he learns that an energy drink endorsed by his favourite comic book character is full of sugar, and that it will not give him any special energy or magic powers at all! Are there any superheroes who are not just out to make money, or must Arthur create his own?

Kung Fool:Fern volunteers to help an elderly neighbour, Tony Wu, with his household chores, and then discovers his past life as a kung fu celebrity. Suddenly she imagines herself as his student, and she will soon be a kung fu master herself! But will Fern be disappointed to learn that dish cleaning and laundry folding are not really part of some special martial arts training? Or can she learn a valuable lesson in acceptance and friendship?

The Secret Guardians: When Arthur, Binky and Sue Ellen stumble upon a beautiful and private woodland oasis right by their homes, they vow to tell no-one and keep it as their secret spot. Before long, however, they start to find evidence of human habitation; have they discovered an ancient civilisation? Or has someone known about this special secret place all along?

There should be one more episode I don't have the info for. Also, the episode pairings might not be the same as how I've listed them-I'm just getting the descriptons where I can.

Some of these episodes have aired ahead of schedule on certain stations.

Also, Philip Seymour Hoffman guest stars in "Fernlets by Fern", which was already mentioned in the previous update.

In other news, the Arthur Character Search is over:

Connor Gordon, 11, of Savage Minn., is about to make
his television debut. As the grand prize winner of the ARTHUR/All Kids Can Character Search, Connor along
with his character, Lydia Fox, will be featured on the live-action segment of an ARTHUR episode Tuesday, June
30 on PBS KIDS GO! (check local listings). The segment features Connor, an aspiring artist, meeting
ARTHUR creator and author Marc Brown.

In February 2009, ARTHUR, the award-winning PBS KIDS GO! television series, and CVS Caremark All Kids
Can, a program dedicated to making life easier for kids with disabilities, invited children ages 6-12 to create anew friend for ARTHUR. The search was designed to educate children about the importance of inclusion andhow children of all abilities can play together. It also encouraged parents and children to think about what life is like for someone they know who has a disability.

Connor went right to the drawing board. Selected out of an overwhelming 8,500 entries, he won top honors for his character Lydia Fox:a 10-year old girl fox who uses a wheelchair and loves to draw and play basketball.
Producers of the ARTHUR show were so impressed that they already have plans to include Lydia in two additional
future episodes.

So, keep a lookout for this new character.

Does it bother anyone else that lately, every single episode features that episode's main character having a dream relevant to their situation? What, is the moral supposed to be "learn from your dreams"? :\

I DON'T LIKE THE LOOK OF THE NEW EPISODES. :(
They look too animated. I mean I know Arthur's a cartoon, but the newer episodes look..weird. Does anyone agree/disagree with me?

Hello everybody !

Happy new year by the way :) Just to let you know that the third season of Arthur will be released in the UK on March 23. You can already pre-order it on Amazon UK. No word on the US release of the first season yet, but I'm sure it'll be released this year.

Please note that this isn't the complete series three. It's the end of series two that wasn't on the so-called "complete series two". I really want to send Delta Music (the ones who made the DVD) an email about that because it's really not clear.

New episodes! [Oct. 13th, 2008|04:17 pm]

piperrhiannon
What are everyone's thoughts on the new eps today?

I missed the Lance Armstrong episode, but apparently they gave him the Matt Damon look; human face on an animal body.

Are we only getting new episodes once a week since the seasons are so short now?

Anyone interested in a letter-writing campaign for ten episode sets a season? ;)

Season One on DVD? [Oct. 5th, 2008|03:06 pm]

[music |TV]

I recently noticed that PBS has released Arthur seasons 10 and 11 on DVD. As awesome as this is, I have to ask - do they plan to release the FIRST season, and so on, in the USA? I haven't been able to find any information. It doesn't really make sense, but I guess getting out what the newest generation of Arthur watchers would know the best is what they're going for.

Anyway, hi, I'm new! I've been watching the show since it first started, and though I haven't been regular about it for at least a few years, I always feel happy and nostalgic when I do see it (especially the older stuff).

Season 12 [Sep. 11th, 2008|10:42 pm]

bophenbean
From here.

Episode #1201
Is that Kosher?
Joan Rivers lends her voice as Francine's sharp-tongued grandma, Bubba, in this episode about family traditions and communal celebration. Francine's convinced that she can fast on Yom Kippur just like her older sister. But then Arthur wins a free pizza party for all his friends for that very same day! Will Francine be able to resist? With Bubba's help, Francine learns that there's more to the special holiday than making it through a fast.

Never, Never, Never
Since Grandma Thora gives D.W. so many gifts, it must mean she really loves her, right? When D.W's extra toys fall into the hands of the destructive Tibble twins, she worries that no one loves her anymore-until Arthur comes to the rescue and proves that giving gifts isn't the only way of showing you care.

Episode #1202
Room to Ride
Lance Armstrong makes a special trip to Elwood City in this episode about bicycling and good citizenship. Wanting more room to ride, Binky and his friends take to the streets to convince residents to vote for new bike safety lanes. When all hope seems lost, Lance gives Binky support and encouragement never to give up his cause.

The Frensky Family Fiasco
Francine wants the Frenskys to be closer, so she proposes a weekly Family Night. But spending quality time together turns out to be harder than expected. How many burnt pizzas and card-playing fights can one family handle? Maybe they all can learn that togetherness itself is more important than observing an organized activity.

Episode #1203
D.W.'s Stray Netkitin
D.W. is panicked when a "Scary Clown" virus ruins the Read family computer. Who will take care of her virtual Netkitin pet? "Tickly" needs her hair brushed just so and will only eat Net Nibbles! So D.W. turns to Arthur and Emily for help-but is she really ready to give up control?

Bats in the Belfry
Arthur and D.W. are thrilled when Grandma Thora lets them turn her attic into a clubhouse. They each have their own fantasy vision of what it should look like... but their argument is interrupted by the appearance of a very real bat! Will the bat threaten their new play space? Or can they appreciate meeting this unfamiliar creature?

Episode #1204
For the Birds
Brain dreams of being the first to spot a rare bird species called the green-tailed grebe. When Mr. Ratburn starts a bird-watching club at school, Brain is panicked! What if someone finds the grebe first and ruins his chances at fame and fortune? Or, can Brain learn that nature is a gift meant for everyone to share?

I Owe You One
Buster's always asking Arthur for favors. One day he worries at the thought of having to repay them all at once, so Buster goes on a favor-repaying frenzy, helping everyone whom Arthur owes a favor to in hopes of getting himself out of this "favor debt." But is Buster forgetting the real meaning of friendship?

Episode#1205
The Chronicles of Buster
Buster is obsessed with the extended DVD version of the epic film "The Chronicles of Ahmayzzia," with 1001 hours of behind-the-scenes footage! In fact, he's so engrossed that he neglects his training for a class rock-climbing trip. After jeopardizing his relationship with best friend and climbing partner, Arthur, Buster finally learns that special effects can't take the place of hard work when conquering real mountains.

On this Spot
Arthur is thrilled to learn that Sitting Bull once passed through Elwood City! He rallies the residents to mark the spot of the legend's visit with a monument-but is dismayed when his friends care more about celebrity sightings than local history. Can Arthur get them to see the specialness of their city's spots?

Season 1 : Favourite Episodes [Aug. 23rd, 2008|09:06 am]
catherine_clare
Hello, lovelies :)

I'm currently enjoying my first season box set that I bought on Play.com (UK), I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful it is. I just can't wait for the USA to release season 2 and then the rest of it.
I was wondering what your favourite episode from the first season was. I know there isn't really any clear distinction between the seasons, but there's a very good list on Wikipedia that has all the episodes my box set has.

I must say mine would be D.W.'s Imaginary Friend, Arthur's Cousin Catastrophe, Arthur's Lost Library Book, Arthur's Baby, D.W.'s Snow Mystery (because of all the references to it later) although I love them all to pieces, I try to watch no more than 3 episodes at a time and they just make my day.

Also, I had a query : do you by any chance remember the title of the episode in which Binky and Sue Ellen play a duet ? (the duet was at the end of the episode, I think they played either the clarinet or the flute).

Thank you !
